can you add option to set profile as default

The first profile in the list is used if none of the profile rules are valid. This can be thought of as the default profile.

Does anybody know where to find pixel settings in the latest AMD Crimson software 17.9.2?

I want to make sure it's still on RGB Full but it seems with almost every AMD Crimson update settings have dissapeared or otherwised moved.

I was running RGB Full on the whole "chain" without any issue previously and since updating to Windows 1703, RGB Full output is buggy on my 1050 Ti (whites are clipped and blacks are dark gray). I tried several drivers and full cleanup of driver files and registry, but it's always buggy. If it's of interest with anyone with an NVIDIA, Windows 1703 and issues with RGB Full on HDMI to a TV (in this case a Panasonic plasma): I've found a (tedious) workaround to my problem: every time the graphics card causes the TV to resync, i.e. restart or wake up from sleep or change of refresh rate etc., I need to go to NVIDIA Control Panel => Adjust desktop colour settings, and change the Content type reported to the display setting. It actually doesn't matter what I change it to and it has no effect at all on the TV not even a resync, but when I change it to anything other than the current value it magically fixes the levels in RGB Full!
This is definitely a bug with the NVIDIA driver because when I boot into Safe mode or if I uninstall all drivers and switch back to the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter then the levels are always OK.
I tried updating to 385.69 but it didn't fix the problem either so I'm going to file another bug report to NVIDIA with that additional information.
I've also tried every possible combination of setting possible for that HDMI Content Type option between the TV and the NVIDIA Control Panel and nothing makes the levels stick.

Works fine, what do you specifically want tested?

Does native D3D11VA + high quality madVR settings work well?
I got some hopes in D3D11VA with AMD drivers, since they are usually really bad at supporting older stuff like DXVA2 and so was my experience with a R9 390.

Just interested in general performance comparison with nvidia.

Nevermind, I forgot to plug my projector in on HDMI port of GPU. The settings are there now. :o

There are no best settings, please read the forum rules.

My settings (linked at the end of the post linked in my signature) are good for downscaling 4K to 1080p, or any other scaling ratio, at least I like them. ;)

Maybe that's what my issue is. I may try this when I get some time.

can you make a screen (in playback)from the OSD for 1080p -> UHD 23p with NGU sharp very high with normal chroma. a 1070 can do this for example. if VEGA has the same issue as polaris there is no way it will be able to handle this. if the polaris issue is not there there is a high chance it will be very faster taking the raw processing power into account.

what was your problem in the first place? unlike nvidia DXVA native was pretty ok with AMD.

can you can copy/past the profile.
if you hold the mouse over the "error" icon it will give you a reason why it is not working.

and in general plz link to an image don't post the full image.

If you can tell me how to do it on a 1440p screen (don't feel like dragging my machine to my UHD TV).. I will.

Then please create freeze reports for me (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Pause/Break). Please don't attach them to this forum, but upload them elsewhere and link to them here.

How does that work? I keep pressing it. But nothing happens. (Only the windows prompt for an unresponsive app appears.)

Is there any workaround/tweak/hack I can try to get deinterlacing to not break with progDVB?

can you provide more informations to reproduce the issue, windows version, GPU driver, hardware and stuff like this?
the event viewer entry could help too.

If you can tell me how to do it on a 1440p screen (don't feel like dragging my machine to my UHD TV).. I will.

you can try AMD VSR i'm not sure if it works with the windows desktop like nvidia DSR.

alternatively a screen with with 1080p23 ->1440 should be fine too as long as NGU sharp very high is used.

EDIT:Is there any workaround/tweak/hack I can try to get deinterlacing to not break with progDVB?
you can force it with control+alt+shift+D. but not sure what you mean with "break".

sorry i'm not a profi in term of profiles.

i would just take your profile rules paste them in my setting and read the error information which should give me enough informations to fix the issue. but yes that could be the issue i can't see a "fast" profile so it can't be loaded.

Did anyone see this cable ?

mCable Gaming / Cinema

The cinema is more for streaking and also Bluray.

The Gaming is for pure gaming and also bluray but without the capability of streaming videos.

I ordered one, there is a big different for Consoles gaming and also for PC Gaming on specific resolutions.

So I hope it should improve the Video + MadVR combination

I have OLED LG55C6 LG , but there are things that can be improved . it has some kind of AA CXAA. you can read all in their site on the Tech tab

Can you please create a couple of freeze reports (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Pause/Break) while the player tried to exit?

Here they are (https://mega.nz/#!5jZTCJAS!KywRA6tXEgZ2MRd25hTezKcebRfiSzECDhjta6TnNEI).

Your rendering time is too high and you are losing frames because of that, lower a little bit your settings and aim for 20ms~25ms... 40ms is too high.

Hi, regardless of settings used, rendering time was always around 40ms. I found the problem, it was nvidias optimal power setting which was applied when i clean installed the latest Nvidia driver.

Once changed to adaptive, rendering time dropped from 40ms to below 25ms.

Thanks for the suggestion.

you can try AMD VSR i'm not sure if it works with the windows desktop like nvidia DSR.

alternatively a screen with with 1080p23 ->1440 should be fine too as long as NGU sharp very high is used.

EDIT:
you can force it with control+alt+shift+D. but not sure what you mean with "break".

It just doesn't work. Even though it's enabled. Even forcing doesn't help.

Is there any workaround/tweak/hack I can try to get deinterlacing to not break with progDVB?

Hey now! It looks like I managed to make a couple: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByfdfPvnoDuzRUpvTmg4REhyTG8

MadVR is already much better at upscaling than the chip in this cable.

Most definitely. Such solutions are all irrelevant and can be done with much more control in madVR - and for free.
For gaming consoles it might be nice, where you don't get any control over the image. For a PC? Keep it simple, don't add hundred HDMI processors in there.

Well for film, once madVR gets access to deblocking and avisynth filters it will be overall superior in this situation, in upscaling it already has the edge. Keeping my screen in a low res? Nty.
Specific situations it may be applicable but for movies compared to madVR? Nah.

i dream of the day when MadVR can do its magic on gaming emulators or old consoles via hdmi, i can dream i guess :)

It also has "dynamic range enhancement" so it messes up the color.

With madVR we want to disable all extra processing, not add blurring (AA), unconfigurable sharpening, and also mess up the color. For console gaming, or even PC gaming with a lower end GPU, it could be useful (though dynamic range enhancement is a deal breaker for me) but for madVR it is entirely a bad thing.

That cable is the complete opposite of a properly calibrated pure 1:1 pixel mapped display pathway.

Is MadVR+LAV able to play Youtube VP9 HDR BT2020 videos? I could only get SDR Rec-709 with these (that I had downloaded for offline playback). If yes, how do you play them?

huhn

i don't see a reason it should not work. are you sure you got the correct VP9 10 bit version?

nevcairiel

Those VP9 HDR YouTube streams definitely play just fine when you download them first, no clue about getting streaming to work.

aufkrawall

I think it works with correct detection with MPC BE. However, it's not stable for high bitrate streaming (mentioned it several times in MPC BE thread, devs don't have a solution).

For us with 4k videos that have HDR, what options do we have to playback real HDR on Windows? I'm reading that HDR with MadVR still uses the "fake HDR" method?

yes .

Yes, full HDR passthrough in win10. The TV detects HDR. Works perfect on nvidia and I think amd is fixed too now. I prefer the output of madvr over my expensive bluray player.
