@Aleksoid1978

try this.

right click desktop -> display settings -> advanced display settings -> 3D display mode -> on

this should be the last missing part for you because you got a side by side picture already.

madVR is using frame packing 3d. so it doesn't matter what your TV supports for 3D. the original 3D mode should always work no matter what. that's what this spec is made for.

But - it's work perfect in PowerDVD & Arcsoft Total Media.

And - i don't have such settings. I don't installed 3D Vision from Nvidia drivers.

And this is not PowerDVD or ArcSoft TMT, different software does different things. madVR uses the 3D mode from the OS, which is why Windows 8.1 and HDMI 1.4 is required. You just need to turn the 3D mode on, or tell madVR to turn it on.
And of course you need to install it.

3D is not working on my machine.

Created a 3D MVC MKV of Gravity with makemkv (latest version).

When activating stereoscopic 3D in Nvidia Panel, my MPC-HC/MadVR crashes, even with 2D mkv's. I switched mode to D3D9 and movies are working again, but the 3Dmkv is shown in 2D...

tested with madvr 0.90.1 and LAV 0.67-58, latest nvidia drivers on GTX 970

That's the same issue aleksoid and I are chasing down. Something about nvidia is giving a few of us problems where it works for others. Nvidia people having the crashing issue, window 8 or 10? I'm on 10. Not sure if it matters but just trying to find some commonality between those who are crashing. I need to try what madshi asked me to do later today.

But - madshi say that it's don't needed for 3D mode working in madVR.

The option to enable 3d in the windows display settings isn't there without the 3d vision driver being installed.

I also got a lot of crashes when using 64-bit. Seems it's the OpenCL driver from Nvidia causing it. 32-bit was fine on my system.

I've not tried 64 bit at all. Ultimately my aim is to get it working in j river mc, so, I've stuck to 32 bit.

i got it working with nvidia and windows 10.

i made sure my TV is set to normal 3D blu ray 3d mode no side by side stuff.

driver in use 361.43
hardware nvidia 960

i have to use D3D11 or madVR will crash for me.

i manually changed to 1080p60 and activated 3D mode. than i doubled checked the nvidia 3D vision settings.

than i opened a MVC MKV file. and checked the decoder. msdk mvc was used.

and now i activated 3D in madVR.

even after closing madVR my TV stays in 3D mode.

easy to notice because picture quality is terrible.

display modes was not used!

this time it works flawless without dropped frames. but i don't have glasses so yeah here stops the fun.

i hope this helps someone.

i never played around with the nvidia control panel i just used it to double check. i used the windows 10 3D mode under advanced display settings.

Does your display not support frame packed 3D, though? SBS works ok, but it means you have to manually enable SBS in your monitor, which is not very comfortable. Furthermore resolution will be half of what it should be. So having frame packed 3D output would definitely be the better solution.

How to know if it support frame packed 3D?
My monitor works fine with powerdvd/tmt/ps4 playback 3D blu-ray/iso

I can run 3D MKV, But i only get this picture
It means that your LAV setup is working correctly, so you're half way there. Now for some reason madVR isn't able to switch into frame packed 3D output. The most probable reason is that 3D support is disabled in the OS. What happens if you tell madVR in the "stereo 3D" settings page to activate 3D mode for 3D content? Does that change anything?

I found that there might be a freeze bug in madVR 0.90.0 and 0.90.1.
I play a video in MPC-HC and minimum the player and do other things, and then back to player, but found the video is stop but the audio is still playing. I roll back to madVR 0.89.19 and everything is fine.
Yes, has been reported by a couple other users, as well. Not sure yet why it happens, though.

I said that "3DTV Play" is probably not needed. I'm not sure about "3D Vision". Is that the same thing? I've no idea. In any case, you don't have to activate 3D in the NVidia control panel. You can also do it in the OS display setup. Or you can let madVR enable it for you.

I guess it's possible that "3D Vision" has to be installed for this to work. Maybe. Maybe not, I don't know for sure.

Please copy the Intel dll to a directory which is in the PATH, e.g. SysWow64 for 32bit, or System32 for 64bit. If you get a crash this indicates that LAV probably isn't sending 3D to madVR yet.

If it works without manually activating SBS in your display when using PowerDVD/TMT/PS4 then probably your display supports frame packed 3D.

PowerDVD/TMT - output also use frame packed 3D. In TMT 3D working even in window mode, just all desktop stay in 2D.

I don't have 3D options in OS display setup(Win10 x64 Ent). also enable in madVR don't help.

Maybe madVR's debug build or build with log can help ??

Ok, madshi, I just checked my setup in MPC-HC. It was still using the internal lav splitter from an older version. Once I fixed that, LAV video now shows the msdk mvc decoder. However, I'm now getting SBS output. I can tell you this is definitely a 3d Blu-ray ripped with MakeMKV. Anything I can try now to get it outputting the proper format? In madVR I have:

enabled windows overlay
use d3d11 for presentation
present a frame for every vsync
use a separate device for presentation
use a separate device for dxva processing

all enabled. I do not have automatic fullscreen exclusive mode set.

GPU needs twice the power for 3D rendering. So you may have to reduce GPU load a bit by adjusting your madVR settings.

That's the thing. I have EVERYTHING turned down or off in madVR. It should be running at its most basic and lightest on the GPU setting. Strikes me as crazy that 3D is THAT demanding. Which is why I was curious if anyone had managed to get it working well on a NUC. Might be time to replace it...

For 3D video in powerDVD you need to have the Nvidia 3D Stereo driver that comes with the driver installation and enable it from the NVCP (nvidia control panel) . but because Madvr is like a game or a video ? PowerDVD need only 3D Stereo Driver because it's for video only. do you need the 3DTV driver too because Madvr detect it like a game ? http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dtv-play-overview.html

That's the question, it's not windows 10 or windows 8.1 , there are just something we missing , we need to know what someone has installed complete and continue from there.

3D mode is demanding, is like half game, at least I think Madvr sees it like a game , that's maybe the different between PowerDVD and Madvr 3D , it's different decoder, and you are using settings that multiple by 2x because of the frame packet mode, so it's like 2xjinc as my guess. Madvr might just need more performance tweaks for it , like powerDVD was first and now it's great 3D player, can say it's the best 3D player.

Funny you should mention Gravity. I tried to run it last night as well on a GTX 950 and I too am only getting 2D. What's strange is that The Walk plays just fine in 3D on that setup. I then tried Gravity on my NUC and it played in 3D, but stuttered like crazy (all of my 3D movies do). Think something is up with either the decoder, renderer, or Geforce drivers with Gravity.

Check GPUZ , how much processing does it use ? try other player like Potplayer, do you use DXVA2 copy-back or CUVID ?

I test it and this issue might be only occured in D3D11 mode, if I switch to D3D9 mode and everything is fine.

I can check the processing power required this evening. I am using MPC-HC and DXVA2 copy-back in LAV.

PowerDVD/TMT - output also use frame packed 3D. In TMT 3D working even in window mode, just all desktop stay in 2D.
I believe PowerDVD/TMT run in special copyright protection mode, which probably has a completely different and probably private API set. It might be different for each GPU manufacturer. I don't know that for sure. They probably use overlay to make sure the protected video frames are not even part of the frame buffer.

madVR's 3D output works in windowed mode for me, too. It's not Overlay, though, I think.

I don't have 3D options in OS display setup(Win10 x64 Ent). also enable in madVR don't help.

Maybe madVR's debug build or build with log can help ??
On my PC the OS offers a switch. It looks exactly like this:

http://winblog.blob.core.windows.net/win/sites/2/2013/07/Screen_2D00_Resolution_2D00_Dialog_5F00_437AA486.jpg

This is Windows 8.1, though, it probably looks different in Windows 10. This "Enable stereoscopic 3D settings for all supported displays" checkbox automatically appears on my PC, as soon as I turn my projector on. This option disappears if I disconnect the projector because my computer monitor doesn't support frame packed 3D.

This checkbox appears with all Intel, AMD and NVidia GPUs on my PC. My development PC has all 3 GPUs installed, so that I can test with all of them. And 3D playback works with all of them just fine here, including NVidia.

It is possible that NVidia 3D Vision needs to be installed for this to work, I don't know that for sure.

Your TV must signal its 3D capability via EDID information block to the GPU. Does it do that? If the EDID doesn't report stereo 3D capability, the OS will not show that checkbox. On my PC madVR can still toggle this setting, though, even if no 3D capable display is connected.

Ok, madshi, I just checked my setup in MPC-HC. It was still using the internal lav splitter from an older version. Once I fixed that, LAV video now shows the msdk mvc decoder. However, I'm now getting SBS output.
Ok. See the screenshot above. Do you have that checkbox in your OS display config dialog? Do you have it turned on?

Ok. Please make a screenshot of your Ctrl+J OSD, when you get those frame drops. Don't attach the screenshot to this forum, it takes ages to get it approved. Upload it elsewhere and link to it here.

Ok, do you have display mode / refresh mode switching turned on in madVR? Try disabling that. Also do you get any resolutions listed in the OS display config dialog with "(Recommended, 3D)" like in the screenshot above? P.S: Also try disabling Overlay mode, it won't work in D3D11, anyway. But I don't think that will make a difference...

Not getting SBS would be a good sign, as madVR thinks its actually outputting proper 3D then.

According to LAV Video, it's sending 3D. madVR just isn't displaying it properly. But hey, at least it's not crashing anymore. I'm just not getting any 3D output.

The strange freeze bug happened again. Some more info. MPC-HC froze up almost completely, with a slice of audio being played every 4 or 5 seconds. Ctrl-J did not do anything. Pause-Resume fixed the audio only. Audio started playing again but video continues to be frozen.

The log is here: http://pastebin.com/LAUrQ3EgSounds like it may be the issue I'm seeing, if you're viewing in Windowed Mode.
In 0.90.0 and 0.90.1, if I activate Aero Peek (hover over another window on the taskbar) the video stops updating and the OSD will freeze.

Video stops but audio keeps playing when the video is covered by a menu (after madVR v0.89). While checking to see if I had the 'video stopped and left the audio playing' issue I discovered something that may be of interest.

Open a small video (like 360x200) within a window and then open a small menu overlay such as Filters > madVR. The video should continue to play (providing the menu didn't completely cover the video content. Now try this with a larger menu like Filters > LAV video Decoder which should completely cover the video. Close the menu. Is the video stopped? Mine does with madVR above v0.89. Otherwise it works as fine with prior versions with MPC-HC and all versions with MPC-BE.

Note: Keep in mind that I also have the issue with "changing settings isn't visible on screen until you unpause the video". Not sure it's related with issue entered above...

Please copy the Intel dll to a directory which is in the PATH, e.g. SysWow64 for 32bit, or System32 for 64bit. If you get a crash this indicates that LAV probably isn't sending 3D to madVR yet.

Did it. Now I see the movie side by side. 3D mode is not activating.

Could this be a problem because I'm using a 4K TV? my resolution is usually 2160p and 3D is working in 1080p. If activate 3D mode in OS, it says I have to change resolution to have 3D working.

On my AMD you can only play frame packed 3D in 1080p.
Not sure about other GPUs.

Fascinating discovery today for Nvidia users having trouble getting 3D with MPC-HC/madVR/LAV. I have mkv files associated to launch with MPC-HC. This morning I was trying to test some more 3D and couldn't get anything to play 3D. LAV Video was showing MVC decoding, but the presentation was 2D. I decided to try and open MPC-HC first and drag/drop the file I wanted to play and "Voila!" it works. Every file I have tested including my troublesome Gravity 3D/Atmos combo plays without a hitch when I open MPC-HC first and then drop the file into play. The only curious thing is that when I drop the file in to play it goes fullscreen and then dumps back to a windowed pause view. If I double click to go full screen and then hit the space bar to play it just works. No idea why this is the chain of events is required to make it work, but I have tried 5 files and every single one of the play in 3D as intended on my GTX 950. Food for thought....

Good luck guys...

If it works without manually activating SBS in your display when using PowerDVD/TMT/PS4 then probably your display supports frame packed 3D.

Yes,it will switch to 3D mode when using PowerDVD/TMT/PS4.
