there are quite a lot of API available for developer it'S just something i don't know enough about to comfortable talk about.
there is atleast a subtitle API
a API to render "kodis UI" on top of it and other things with not that high inputlag.
and he links new API from time to time to developer of mpc-hc/be and many others asking them to switch to this API instated of using the old one/way.

Not only the Kodi UI! Zoom Player also uses this madVR API to render directly in madVR so FSE works even when the UI is being displayed and the latency is lower.
I assume it is documented somewhere but I don't know where. :o

There are rumors of Soon™
But yes, besides some test builds for HDR tone mapping experiments v0.92.17 is still current.

Fortunately, hot keys are already provided so they can be mapped to a single remote control on-the-fly eliminating the need for another hand held device to access them. I suppose if someone skimped on a good remote, a cell addition could be beneficial though.

I have made an app to control HTPC things as well as other HT devices from your phone.
You can at least control madVR in so much as things like switching between madVR profiles from your phone, but you cannot just switch individual random settings that you have not pre-planned.
(EDIT)I guess you can switch many of the settings with my app via the madVR hotkeys options, I forgot about those.
I have been considering interacting with madVR more intimately though if possible.
I think just switching between profiles is pretty powerful for now though as you could just make tons of profiles for each setting you want to be able to change. Obviously it takes more setup to create all those profiles, but it's technically doable.
I will let everyone know if I ever manage to add a more specific madVR control into my remote app.

Any update on 3D support coming back in? I know madshi had mentioned a native fix coming on the Envy thread, but for right now I can't get it working with latest Nvidia drivers with 3D Fix Manager, 3D lav filters, madvr and MPC-HC. Hopefully we get a built in fix soon.

Will we get a fix for the Nvidia HDR mode? it just doesn't work anymore. only OS HDR.

You'll have to use 446.14 for now. The next Nvidia driver will supposedly have a workaround for madVR HDR.

I've got the hot keys mapped to my Harmony, but an app could contain all the settings. Much like how you can control MadVR from another PC when it's playing on your HTPC. You get the full interface.
The shortcut keys also need an udpate - there's no NGU scalar on there for example

I seriously hope so. I want to play with the 3090 out of the gate and do not want to be dealing with this issue. The fact that it doesn't send any HDR metadata right now is BAD. And that's turning on the OS HDR and using PowerDVD to test. So, it's not just a "workaround for madvr" that's needed IMO. The stupid drivers are broken. Again.

I am just surprised that there is no video renderer that supports HDR natively in Windows 10 out of the box. Am i wrong in that assumption? Props to Madshi for filling in that gap but come on Microsoft.

Would I be correct in assuming that an RTX 3090 will be overkill for 1080P line-doubling and true 4K on an HDR capable 4K display? Leaving plenty of GPU performance untapped/unused?
And only 480P/1080i/720P upconversions might benefit from all that "horsepower"?

I'm not sure I agree with this. As huhn said, we don't yet know what the card is capable of. There are rumors. But I can tell you right now that on my 9900k/32gb ddr4 3200/2070 founder's edition system, upscaling 720p60 to 2160p60 is BRUTAL on performance and I have to compromise. I'm of the feeling that I should be able to eliminate the compromises and run it how I'd like. For HDR, also as said, we're nowhere near complete on that feature set. madshi is still working on tweaking that, and we don't yet know what kind of performance may be required for whatever he has cooked up. I'm banking on having a little extra for what comes next, but, that's not guaranteed. And *IF* a madvr pro comes out (aka a paid version) maybe we'll get some of those new tensor core algorithms that he's writing for Envy. Again, I want as many tensor cores as possible. These are some of the reasons I'm looking at the 3090.

Hi. Some of my 1:1 1080p rips have terrible noise, artifacts, etc. in them. It's because of the old cameras and processing of film that causes it and it's just inherent of how the movie was made... sometimes purposely. I find them unwatchable because it looks so bad. Luckily, and thanks to madshi, madVr provides 'reduce random noise' (RRN). My GTX 960 is able to use that algo with NGU Sharp and AA. While it does reduce 'some' resolution, I don't mind as long as it gets rid of all that horrible noise. By noise (I hope I have the term correct) I mean small random spots all over the place and pixelated looking dark backgrounds. Some scenes show it less but it's always there. RRN fixes it right up every time no matter the scene and is a pleasure to watch.
Some of these older titles carry the noise over into their 2160p HDR remasters. They too look terrible and I mean unwatchable. However, my GTX 960 is not strong enough to use RRN with 2160p HDR to clean it up. Are any of you folks using 10 or 20 series able to use RRN with NGU for 2160p HDR 1:1 rips without taxing the card out?

Maybe someone can help me with this problem. I have a Philips Momentum 326M6VJRMB (4K monitor) and use Madvr with MPC-BE to watch movies. I notice in the Identification tab under Devices that it shows my native resolution as 1920x1080 but my display is 4k. Does this mean it is internally rendering at 1080p and upscaling to 2160p. How do I change it so it reflect the resolution I have set on my desktop which is 2160p.

I have a Viewsonic 4K monitor, and madVR shows the EDID native resolution as 3840x2160. I did a quick web search on your model, and it should be displaying the same. Contact Philips support and tell them what your unit's EDID is showing.

Are any of you folks using 10 or 20 series able to use RRN with NGU for 2160p HDR 1:1 rips without taxing the card out?Correct term would be 'film grain', but yes it's a film equivalent to the sensor noise of digital cameras. I thought RRN was optimised for digital noise and it didn't work as well on film grain, but good for you that it works if you don't like it.
If your GPU is really maxed out when enabling some filters and you want to 'guess' if a faster card would be able to handle the load, you can do a basic calculation using the render time you currently have and the theoretical GFLOPS. Say your GTX 960 has 2,4 GFLOPS at boost clock and madVR says it takes e.g. 75 ms in average to render a frame at those maxed out settings, so 1,8x the frame time at 24p, this gives about 4,3 GFLOPS "needed power", so something like a GTX 1060 6 GB or a GTX 1650 Super would do it but just barely so choosing the model just above would give you some margin for comfort.
Of course it's not exact science as a GPU can boost above its official clock and there are architectural differences between GPU generations, but it gives you a rough idea.

Thanks el Filou but tbh, I was just requesting someone simply flip on the RRN switch in madVr (to any intensity) and playback any 2160p HDR 1:1 title for 10 secs and report if their card (I don't care what model it is) can handle it. I think it would take all of 2 mins including a response.

Providing i dont use supersampling (i use it now and again on certain titles), no problems here with passthrough (Avatar HDR 2160p, which is the most demanding rip I have)....unless I misunderstood what you are asking?

Nevermind, I fixed it by using generic Plug and Play monitor driver rather than the one supplied by Philips.

Does the RRN algo use the same power independently of the content, or does it change depending on the amount of noise in the picture?
huhn

it's a shader it doesn't care if something is noise or not it applies the same math.
the number of content depending algorithm in madVR is pretty low. pixel count and framerate that's matters.

i mean all your HDR check are only true if the source is bigger tehn UHD.
your dvd preset for 24 should be never true because even a 23p decoded DVD has a deint FPS of 48.

I agree any "pro" features will be reserved for Envy. We might still see a madVR 1.0 for sale that would include updates for functionality that doesn't involve HDR. Assuming madshi has the time to maintain madVR, I think his business partners wouldn't object to that. HDR processing could be removed altogether, with only pass-through remaining.
I think most of us here would pay $100 for a madVR 1.0. That's a significant amount of income to leave on the table.

I would pay that but I agree, it is too high for madVR for most users.
I am not sure where the cost/number sold curve hits a maximum but with basically 0% incremental costs I expect a lower prince would return more profit in total. I am curious how many would buy a "madVR pro" at $15 or $20 USD. Probably best to do two or three versions. Free, Pro, and Ultimate sounds good to me, if trying to maximize returns. ;)
