DMU - i saw your note on the BT2020 bug on MADSHI bug reported, is the guy he might be from AMD suggesting that a full screen window is required to get HDR?

you need FSE or fullscreen windowed or it will not "work".

Try running msconfig and choose 'selective startup' and untick 'load startup items' if that doesn't change anything reset madVR to default settings with restore default settings.bat in the install directory.
I can't do that. for some reason, it still loads all the programs at startup all the same. Default settings don't help.
can you please take a different image page.

what audio renderer is used and what output plz be accurate?
I use system default renderer (direct sound), as you can see here: https://imgur.com/a/kQCoMoA
line 8 on the OSD shouldn't be in the secs try to change the audio volume to make sure this is not just an odd "accident" the mouse wheel up and down using mpc-hc after you see the line on the OSD is enough.
plz check Vram usage with the taskmgmt.
Once I start the video, this value starts to slowly change from seconds to minutes to hours to days. Here's my task manager: https://imgur.com/OpJK2cq. The memory seems fine.
@Yogs
WHAT SPECIFICALLY is the problem. I can't see the video.
This video shows exactly what the problem is, this is exactly how I see it: https://www30.zippyshare.com/v/tYSKLZjL/file.html. Can't you see the video?
Has this screenshot been captured after doing Alt+Tab many times or displaying other software over the video?
No.
If the solutions presented by the other forumers here don't work, check if any other running programs are using the GPU often (you can see that in Task Manager details), which from my experience can be a source of frequent presentation glitches.
I can't see, where it is shown.

your video is 403 forbidden. at least for me.

He's getting visual glitches where the frames jump back and forward. Present queue is basically at 0.
@Yog, try selecting the 'use separate device' options under general and tick all the options under 'trade quality for performance' to minimize load and VRAM.
But yeah, show us that graph with performance in Task Manager, with it in the background play full screen video, stop video and screenshot the Task Manager graphs.
Might pay to jump into your BIOS and set VRAM to max, might be set to something stupidly low.

It helped with a DVD-video (one option in particular, I think, - "use half frame rate for DXVA deinterlacing"), but not with a 60fps-video.

Once I start the video, this value starts to slowly change from seconds to minutes to hours to days. This suspiciously sounds like what happens with ReClock, are you sure you're not using ReClock with "Force to be loaded instead of default renderers" option? This can replace the DirectSound renderer even if you have selected it.
If you right-click in the player during playback, then go to 'Filters' menu, what is listed there?
Here's my task manager: https://imgur.com/OpJK2cq.
I can't see, where it is shown.Sorry to ask the question again, but does the problem also happen if you exit *all* other running applications? Other apps do use video memory (especially browsers with hardware accelerated rendering) or GPU processing, even if they are in background, and this can sometimes cause weird issues with madVR. I'm not saying that's the case but just wondering.
Might pay to jump into your BIOS and set VRAM to max, might be set to something stupidly low.Normally on Vista and later, iGPUs dynamically adjust graphics memory size, the VRAM setting in BIOS is supposed to only affect XP and earlier or legacy apps that check how much memory there is but it shouldn't have any effect on how much memory can be requested by graphics (HD 4000 is up to ~1.8 GB).

No, in fact, I even can't use ReClock, I've tried using it, thinking it could solve the problem, but I couldn't make players use it, they don't see it as a renderer for some reason.

Post your lav filter video settings,
Try also, disabling dxva in lav.
Does this happen with all video files, or only this one.
Does it happen with 23.976fps standard 1080p files that are (NOT from this tv-show) that you're watching now.

seeing a high clock deviation at playback start isn't unusual as long as it stabilises in a couple of sec there is nothing to care about.
try lav video -> "software deint..." -> algorithm -> yadif
make sure the hardware decoder is none for this test.
if this doesn't fix it can you make a new screen with the madVR OSD and GPU-Z with GPU clock and "memory used (de..." set to max?
just to be clear the HD 4000 was barely able to use madVR when it was new but it was able to do it.

Hello guys,
It's been a long time since I've posted here. I changed my AV-receiver because the previous one died suddenly and thus my custom modes are not valid anymore.
I tried to create a custom mode for 23hz (23.976) and 24hz on my Nvidia card but it refuses to do it because when I create a 23hz optimized mode, it creates a 24hz custom refresh rate in the Nvidia panel and doesn't allow to create a second (a real) 24hz mode.
It's very frustrating because my new Denon AV-receiver accepts a lot more custom refresh rates than my old Onkyo but when I try to save, it keeps telling me "the GPU driver rejected this mode for unknown reasons".
Is there a solution to this problem? I'm sorry in advance if has been asked before but I didn't find the answer when I Googled it.

Try using (23.976 and 48.000) or (24.000 and 47.952) Hz. If your display device accepts these of course.

The Intel performance issue might be due to memory speed/bandwidth being a bottleneck. So try reducing the queue sizes in madVR settings. For example to half the current values.
options > rendering > general settings
madjock

Unsure what you mean.
Create a 23 or 24 profile and set it to 23.976 in the nVidia control panel, it will say 24 whichever one you use, and when you look back after it saves it wont say 23.976 either but it does work.
I seem to be lucky and all I have to do is change the total pixels in the Vertical from 2250 TO 2249 and it just seems to work.

I cant see why a different AV receiver would affect it, but I may be missing something.

when you click on the mhz number it self you change the logging of this field the max gives me a better idea of what is really happening.
here is an example:
https://abload.de/img/hd40007yk0q.png
your video shows serious issue with DXVA processing.
this 50i file that you are playing there is far far harder to handle then a 1080p23 file.
this is BTW. a totally normal file just a standard pal DVD.

Hi, hoping someone can help, ive just upgraded from a gtx1060 to a rtx 2070 super, but now when playing a UHD movie it stutters every 1 or 2 seconds, never had this with the 1060 it ran smooth, the gpu usage of the 2070 is showing 28% ive tried turning everything to low in madvr, render time is 6ms, thanks
hmm ok so I have 3 displays connected same as when I had the 1060, movies don't stutter on the other 2 displays only on the TV, the tv is connected via hdmi and the other 2 display port

i guess very bad d3d11 support from intel and how overlay works it ignores everything related to the OS so it's still the "same" since windows 7 and not as much affected by the changes in windows 10.
it's not like overlay is perfect you shouldn't be able to make screenshoots anymore.

hey there,
i have a pretty weird phenomenon lately... i'm not 100% sure but i think it started with the latest nvidia driver update.
following setup:
- win 10
- gtx 980
- latest mpc-hc / lavfilters / madvr
- philips 55pos901 oled
i've been using this setup for quite some time without any problems but i recently noticed wrong black levels for HDR content while SDR content is fine. (madvr hdr passthrough enabled)
rgb full range (0-255) is enabled in madvr settings and it currently gives me correct black levels for SDR content but i need to change it to 16-235 in order to get correct black levels for HDR content. (otherwise blacks are grey)
i checked this with some black level test files where 0-16 should be black and 17-25 flash.
0-255: correct SDR black levels but greyish blacks for HDR content
16-235: correct HDR black levels but bad black crush for SDR content
could this be a nvidia bug? or is there someting i am missing here?
mclingo
17th February 2020, 16:53
when you say the colour space is wrong, is it too Dark which is why you have to set it 16-235, and do you set this in MADVR?
Does your TV envoke a seperate preset for HDR, if it does it may have somehow got changed to LOW instead of HIGH where it should be if you running a FULL RGB 444 chain.

I guess it is still quite hard to do at the moment, although we are at 113 revision wise.
But it would be nice to have an LCD/OLED section on what settings people are using. I as many probably use Neo-XPs settings.
I know like everything madVR a lot boils down to personal taste, but even at this late stage the settings for HDR are mind boggling and they always have been.
I am still not sure if I prefer HDR to tone mapping, I feel a bit stupid saying that as I should be able to tell, and from what I have read unless you have a really good HDR set which I do not have, the tone mapping will always be better.

I still do not understand as such and for a layman like myself with no calibration equipment and the same in depth knowledge as yourselves I find it all another language.
A lot seems to be based on OLEDs, which is also something I do not have, not 100% what my real NITs is also which does not help.
edit : so do I need to output in HDR format ?
