I want to leave news here, I have just discovered that reclock has gone open source!!! Now we can hope for a 64 bits version.

There is just a new verison. 1.9.0.0 I got excited when I read a thread that said ReClock GPL'ed Sources but then I realized it was dated at 2010. :(

Sorry Betroz, I was wrong :(

There is a new version only.

just leave all activated. using external or internal lavfilter doesn't really matter.

so i enable everything in both source and transform filter?

I'd go with super-xbr. NEDI is too soft/blurry.

With that card, NNEDI3 would be possible and preferred. Chroma upscaling can be set to something lower like super-xbr. Then you can use all of your resources on image doubling (32 to 256 neurons).

With SR and enhance details enabled NEDI does a better job at it keeping aliasing and ringing down. SuperXBR-AR is very good though.

I'm really liking ReconSoft with SR 1. Looks much better than any other method, especially with compressed videos.

I wonder if NG1 is a type of bilateral or Recon method.

I wonder if NG1 is a type of bilateral or Recon method.I think NG1 is an image doubling algorithm, not a chroma upscaler. IIRC Shiandow was talking about a new experimental chroma upscaler a few pages ago though.

Chroma upscaling is doubling, though, isn't it? (4:2:0 -> 4:4:4)

Chroma upscaling is doubling, though, isn't it? (4:2:0 -> 4:4:4)Yes, but an algorithm that can be used for image doubling wouldn't be able to use bilateral or reconstruction type methods. A version specialized for chroma upscaling might, but not the version showed off by madshi.

yes and disable dxva native choice copyback or none (i prefer software.) and you should fine.

Hi there,

right now a little off topic from madshis new algo, but here's a little update on my automatic screen masking topic. Madvr is abolute mad awesome! Quite everything I need is already there and right before my eyes. You can easily use profile scripts to detect AR and switch profiles accordingly. There is an option "command line to execute when this profile is activated". Unfortunately there seems to be an issue with this option. I couldn't get a simple command to be executed (e. g. curl command for http get). I also found an old bug ticket: http://bugs.madshi.net/view.php?id=210 which hasn't been resolved. If anyone has experienced the same, do you have a workaround?

@madshi: It would be really awesome if you could have a look into this issue.

greeting,

Stefan

Youtube now supposedly support HDR and this video is supposed to be HDR https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tO01J-M3g0U

I downloaded the 1440p and 4k versions and run it with madvr but the video is not detected as HDR.

Is the video not truly HDR or does youtube not provide the HDR video if you have an SDR screen?

Latest MPC-BE supports Youtube-HDR with madVR so I assume it is your player (MPC-HC/LAV?) that doesn't yet support passing the metadata to madVR. Also make sure you are actually downloading the HDR streams.

LAV will learn to read that metadata soon, maybe on the weekend. But it works differently to typical HEVC HDR10 metadata, hence why it doesn't work out-of-the-box.

I can only talk about the 720p version (higher is not supported by the downloader I've uses), but the downloaded version of this specific video does not seem to have HDR metadata (resulting in a "flat" look).

Is the video not truly HDR or does youtube not provide the HDR video if you have an SDR screen?
This specific one seems to be true HDR apart from the missing metadata, but I've seen others [1] which seem to be delivered as already rendered to SDR (can't check on a HDR display because I don't have one).

For HDR upload to youtube you need as bare minimum- Rec.2020 flagging, but ideally use mkvmerge to add all detailed HDR metadata on container level and if you want to make it perfect you can also provide LUT for SDR version:

@fhoech
The metadata is in the webm container for both of those videos but your player might not yet be suited to make use of it (as discussed above). You can use youtube-dl to download the HDR versions ("vp9.2" streams) and mkvinfo to confirm the HDR metadata is present. It's not a madVR issue.

I have seen your post http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1785510#post1785510 and remembered one simple question I wanted to ask you (I asked many people before - all answered: I don't know) about your great renderer (imho best for 23,976Hz films - never drop frames when set 47,952Hz - and in WinXP too): is there in settings of MadVR easy way to do the picture some less saturated (as EVR or even VMR7w shows)?

sneaker_ger
10th November 2016, 19:55
madVR settings->devices->[your display]->color & gamma->saturation

(Not that I think madvr saturation is different from EVR. Both should be neutral by default. You don't have any GPU driver "video enhancements" activated, do you?)

huhn

go to device -> "your device" -> properties -> the display expects the following RGB output levels: set it so TV level(16-235) and you will get the same nearly for sure wrong and under saturated image as VMR

Thanks guys. That all desired settings (but for faster change them I want possibility to type digits from keyboard in fields directly and may be cusomize one click presets - there is many space in properties and color & gsmma tabs for that). Of course, sometimes 0-255 is better, sometimes 16-235 - depends on played video.

I always turned off any "video enhancements" even if they was turned on by manufacturer as default. So I don't like .NET and so AMD (was ATI) Control Panel I not even installed I turned off all "video enhancements" by watching key {} in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\VIDEO\Video0 and changing keys like this:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\{A104160B-A34F-400E-AC50-C14942E8E718}\0000]
"TRDenoise"="0"
"DXVA_WMV"="0"
And reboot after changes.
Question about HDR: do all see trees "in fire" between green trees from 11 to 21 second in Samsung_HDR_Wonderland.ts http://demo-uhd3d.com/fiche.php?cat=uhd&id=153 especially if compare with EVR? I've never seen so saturated colors in nature so I think the truth between madVR and EVR - am I wrong?

no if the file is correct created madVr knows the levels and will handle them correctly.

a file that is full range without full range flag is broken and nothing else.

If a file is wrongly detected as full range when it should be using TV range, or if it's detected as TV range but it actually needs to be expanded twice, just use the hotkey Ctrl+Shift+Alt+I to adjust the source levels used by madVR.

Thanks once more (it's a pity this forum havn't Thanks button).
And what about my question about HDR file?

What did you mean? May be you are Formula1 fan as I am? I cross my fingers about Lewis Hamilton but not all in his hands due to broken engines across this season.

with the HDR problem please make a screen with the OSD(control+j).
this file has Bt 2020 colors and no display is able to display them and it is a HDR demo i wouldn't be shocked if the this file was created with wrong colors in mind but i haven't watch it.

edit: and madshi doesn't answer questions right now not until "THE" weekend. which is when it's done

hello folks, I need some advice you think is best to create a 3d lut with BT2020 BT 709 or use the mad in upscalink 1080p to 4K know that my projector does not have a gammut of BT2020 do you advise me to do?
thank you

what has upscaling to do with colorspaces?

if your devise doesn't have a gamut of BT 2020 (of cause it doesn't) a proper 3D LUT will take care of it.

Why is your refresh rate 47,952? Where is the benefit to 23,976?

My monitor not support 23,976 (in EDID there is nothing other then 60Hz at all, but 50, 48 and 47,952Hz are supported natively through VGA and DVI although with message "Out of range"), so I set 47,952=23,976*2 - for progressive scan it is the same, but for interlaced vertical frequency of monitor must be equal frequency of fields - else will be double or stuttering artifacts.

Sorry guys, NG1 is still not ready for release this weekend. I'm hopeful I'll have a first (probably not completely finished) version out by next weekend.

To hold you over, here's another little teaser. First some words about performance:

There will be several quality/speed levels. NG1 "low" quality will probably have a similar speed to Jinc AR*) or super-xbr*). Or at least that's what I'm aiming at. I still need to test how much I can downscale the algorithm before quality breaks down completely. NG1 "high" quality (which both teasers are made with) will probably have a similar speed to NNEDI3-64*).

Here's a photo comparison. Please note that in the NG1 image only the luma channel was upscaled with NG1. The chroma channel was upscaled with Bicubic60. Waifu2x doesn't make that compromise, which explains the difference in chroma quality:

Some of you guys didn't like the name "NG1". I'm open for other suggestions. Please feel free to post your ideas. If there's no suggestion that jumps out at me, I'll probably stick with "NG1", though.

I'm listening to your comments, but I'll reply to all old and new posts only after the new version is released.

Hi :)

Using madVR v0.90.24 on MPC-BE.

As i can see here https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/233290-high-quality-video-playback-on-windows/ i can use LAV filters instead of the internal ones. You suggest me to do this?

Thanks :)

Only chapter support?
And i have to use only lav audio/video like in the guide? No splitter?

don't ask me things like this. and not in this thread.

there are other reasons than ordered chapter not chapter btw. but i don't know the full list.

i wouldn't be shocked if you need lav splitter for ordered chapter support.

so just add all 4 as preferred external filter and everything is alright.

Well, i'm not skilled in this, so, i'm in wrong section?
What 4 are you talkin about? There is lav audio, lav video, lav splitter. You talking about h.264 mvc 3d decoder?

And i'm using all this stuff in x64 version, it's a lot of time i don't use it so i don't remember if i can use madvr and lav x86 on mpc-be x64 togheter. Know it's noob question :thanks:

huhn

lav splitter source is the 4th

you can't use a x86 filter with a x64 filter

just use all 64 bit it is faster anyway.
and there is no reason to not install 32 bit and 64 bit at the same time.
guides these days...

this is the madVR thread so it is about madVR not decoder stuff.

I have found a bug in the latest windows 10 cumulative update (at least for x64) that cause madVR to stop working correctly with JRiver MC22. The update is KB3200970. I uninstalled it and everything is working fine again. Also it causes some strange things with video related things, for example some games started giving errors at start and stop working. It also happened to a friend. I recommend for now blocking the update if you have not installed it and wait for the next cumulative.

New algorithm looks fantastic! Very impressive to see anything surpass NNEDI3. I might try proposing a name for your new algorithm but I think I'd need to know more about exactly what it's doing to the image. I would like to suggest though that the name be distinctive. Doing a google search for "Next Generation" would produce an infinite number of entirely useless search results.

Thanks for your continued achievements!

It has an improvement, according to the changelog as followed,
http://www.windowscentral.com/microsoft-releases-windows-10-cumulative-update-kb3200970-14393447
named as: Improved the reliability of multimedia audio, Remote Desktop, and Internet Explorer 11, which may has something to do with the glitches fedpul have mentioned.

For the best results you should run all three LAV parts together.
