just set it to RGB it's not much work.
d3d11 doesn't support deinterlancing that'S why i ask.
can you make a screen of the OSD?
Sure -> https://imgur.com/a/sxqGvCx
That's after ~10-15minutes after the IPTV channel does start playing - which is one time out of 3-5. In most cases is stops after several seconds.
Other channels seem pretty same when looking at OSD but still somehow different because they do start playing without issues.

nothing deviantly wrong with the OSD.
the only small things i see is the 6-8 queue for decoding and the presentation queue.
the DXVA max spikes look scary.
when deinterlancing is fail does it look the same?

Create modes in the NVIDIA control panel, that works on all driver versions for me.
Thanks, never even thought to do try that again :(
Not that i had an issue sticking with 390.77 as it was working fine for the games i play, but didn't want to stick with it forever and these days video playback and MadVR takes higher priority that gaming for me.

If I set nvidia control panel to "let colors settings be set by application" I believe this will set color based on my TV edid.
No, that option lets you either override application colours using the sliders below that option, or leaving the colours as the application sends them to the driver.
Strongly suggest you leave that option as "application".
Is there a way to know if in this situation my pc is using RGB or YCbCr?
What your computer will send over the wire will be whatever you select in the Nvidia control panel "Change Resolution" section under "Output Format".
Strongly suggest you leave it as RGB.

Seems that de-interlacing doesn't really matter. If it is disabled in madVR IPTV playback can also stop.
Tried tinkering with options and to max out CPU queue (128 frames) but nothing helps, playback just stops for some reason.

playback just stops for some reason.
It's been a long time since I played with IPTV streams, but last time I remember the internal stream source of MPC-HC was kind of flakey with UDP streams. Not sure if that's improved over the years.
You could try using VLC as a buffer, demuxing the stream and repacking it in to another format and sending it over another protocol might help.
You could also try making the madVR buffers very small if you haven't already.

24th June 2018, 19:43
@mv Is there a way to increase the minimum buffer at the start of playback for network streams in your player?
With MediaPortal I had the same issues sometimes on Live TV, playback would sometimes stop like if it had reach end of stream because the player was starved of data. I fixed it by setting a 2 second buffer. It didn't happen only with madVR, but somehow it did occur much more often with it than with EVR.

I have also noticed better performance with small buffers in madVR, I keep the "number of frames presented in advance" at 3 or 4 and GPU buffers at 4 or 6. I noticed this when I switched to Windows 10 but it doesn't seem to be a universal observation (there don't seem to be any universal observations).
It is a good idea to put "strength during fade in/out" on the same level as "default debanding strength" for reduce banding artifacts (if it is enabled) or keep the trade quality for performance option "don't rerender frames when fade in/out is detected" enabled (recommended anyway, in my opinion).
Thanks for advices guys!
Increased buffer size in LAV splitter (up to 512Mb) and tried increasing/decreasing buffer/queue size in madVR and somehow it did increase overall stability but unfortunately didn't fix the issue completely.

Hi to everyone!
I'm trying to use some upscale settings for improving image quality using MPC HC and madvr.
My target is upscale from 720p and 1080p to 2160p.
I used 720p anime and 1080 bluray movie at medium settings and high profile to upscale 2160p but I can't see any changes for image compared to the original.I have a lot of drops frames seems to upscale algoritms working but when i pause and save image as png/bitmap 100% quality (alt+i) at from MPC I don't see any changes.
The screenshots result are identical wich is weird :
source 1920 x 804 (4.2mb) and after uscpale 1920 x 804 (4.2mb);
-1280 x 720 1.88mb (original) and 1280 x 720 1.95mb upscaled.
Another result for 720 source: (print screen)
-3840 x 2160 (720p source) 23.7mb bmp - 3840 x 2160 (720p source) 23.7mb bmp (after upscale)
My setup: Win 10 X64 with last update, latest MPC and madvr;
Intel Skylake i5 6500, 8gb ram, GTX 1050ti 4gb, ssd Samsung 256gb, Samsung TV 55ju7500 2160p resolution 60hz.

I got the same requests, but i have a different feeling.
in the mail they sent me they are asking about app freezing (i never talk about freezing) and performance issue (never wrote about performance)
they ask me to demostrate with a video the issue.
Also seems it's not clear that the issue is happening from many versions of the driver.
I'm not sure that i want to do their job, debugging, starting from update my system to a driver that I already know is broken to send them what ? something that they can reproduce easly (they are amd) with the information that i've sent to them in terms of repro steps and software e Hw versions.
AMD is keeping to piss me off (sorry to be rude), starting from couple of years ago when they removed all video configurations in the drivers , they made me waste a lot of time to provide them all infomations requested and in the end all those useful controls never went back :( they closed the issue with no issue.
this is my opinion, if you have time to break you pc with broken driver and send them all the infos i say a big thank you to you , but i'm not sure that i will do the same.

I wanna ask why I send original dolby vision HDR mediadata with madVR to my TV set,my tv set doesn't decode the original dolby vision HDR? I'm very confient that there are hardware decoder chipsets on my TV set because i play some demonstration films from dolby co. website with my tv set.Doesn't madVR support to send original dolby vision HDR content to the display?Just support to send HDR10 content to the display?

Dolby Vision decoding is not supported by anything free, as far as I can tell.
Playing back Dolby Vision is not simply sending different metadata, it is much more complex and no one has released the specs so no one knows how to do it.

same answer you are still comparing the same image with each other.
I think I saw the problem: every time when I take a SS the size depends for screen ratio from MPC. If I take a SS (alt+i) from full screen, all of them will be at same size and resolution: 3840 x 2160 ( my screen resolution).
If a take from half size player the resoltuion will be half of 2160p.
How can I obtain a SS with original video resolution?
How can I "force" to upscale to 2160? except madvr upscale settings.

you are probably right, however this might be a bigger deal than we think as everything is going HDR at the moment so they may want to put some resources into this if netflix isnt work properly either.

Can someone please recommend settings for:
Chroma upscaling
Image upscaling
Dithering
When playing a 1080p, 50 fps, video to a 1080p, 50 Hz, screen with a GT740 GDDR5 card.
It won't do NGU unfortunately. Can it if I do some trade quality for performance?

No, leave Window's HDR option off when using madVR.
Can someone please recommend settings
Didn't we already give you a bunch of recommendations?
Jinc for everything since you cannot run NGU. SBR 100 for chroma upscaling is also an option, compare to Jinc and pick the one you like more.
Ordered Dithering.
Trade quality for performance options are not going to help you run NGU.

Ah I see, yes the GT740 is a very weak card. Hmm.. you might need to stick to the defaults for 50 fps, maybe try Spline or Lanczos 3 for chroma and image upscaling.

I like Error Diffusion 2 for dithering a lot, but when I moved to Ordered Dithering it seemed to be able to handle both Jinc and super-xbr, but wouldn't go any higher than the latter.

Same here. I am using a AMD RX 480 with Ordered Dithering with NGU. Error Diffusion 2 is a bit too heavy for this graphics card. I see no difference between Error Diffusion 2 and Ordered Dithering on my projector screen.

FYI, this week I have bought a 3D transmitter and 3 glasses for my JVC X5000 projector. It was a disaster to get the 3D mode of the projector working with my RX 480. Every time when I started a 3D move, the screen went black or Windows 10 switched to the wrong resolution. All applications (MPC-BE, MPC-HC, PowerDVD) went crazy. I had to reset my PC many times. After some time, I discovered that the dual monitor configuration did not work well. My projector and TV were using two different resolutions. After setting both screens to 1080 (3D recommended), it worked well. The 3D performance is very good.
PS. I am not sure, but I believe this dual screen performance problem is fixed for the RX 580. Can anyone confirm this?

Had some strange stuff happen today, like a 25Hz mode pop up, just not save, 23 custom res no longer says 23 but 24 in the control panel.
Used DDU and went back to 385.28 which is just the least broken.
Custom res is also finicky with options, I think just changing the power profile made me have to save the custom res again..

I don't think I have ever had any luck using 23, well maybe once when I had 23 and 24 at one point, I'm sure if you change a 24 to a 23 it vanishes as well. I just use a 24 one and set it up with that.
I am now having synch problems in Kodi after going back to a fresh install of Windows, I was using the Insider builds and they were just too buggy especially the last one. Unsure whats going on and it s seems random, always seems to be something to annoy me haha.

A while back I always had issues with custom res, and stopped using it. Once madshi stated nvidia would be releasing a new driver which would fix the 23.976hz issue, I removed all traces of custom res, used DDU, and just tried the default 23hz 12-bit full-RGB. Now my frame drop is days or never. I never have to touch custom again. I do not get any issues anymore.

I had hoped for the same, but unsure if it is because I bitstream, even though yes the composition rate was now at 23.976, it was not allowing for the HDMI audio clock (I think thats whats happening), so was no better off.

Well they definitely changed something in last two drivers as the composition rate is sat at 23.976 now.
398.36 Standard
https://postimg.cc/image/lmhzclp5n/
This is the latest 398.36 and as can be seen, no custom created and it runs at 23.976, but personally it is not working for me as the frame repeats can be bettered with older drivers and custom res, I did get lucky and created one. I found I had to create and not modify and save. Then modify, I tried a movie and it was no different from initial install. I then looked at the custom I created and it had went back to Automatic, so its not saving modified settings.
390.77 Standard
https://postimg.cc/image/wnq8hfarx/
As can be seen the defualt is 23.970
390.77 Custom

What I need to use and get a custom res that sticks and a good frame repeat number.

I think Manni tried the previous drivers that had this fix, he said there was an improvement in the 3D side as well. I assume it is carried across to the latest driver.

Try super-xbr100 in both cases. It is a little faster than Jinc and sharper. If not, drop down to Lanczos3 + AR. super-xbr150 is a lot sharper, but it will produce quite a bit more ringing.

rx 480 and rx 580 are identical cards.
They are not 100% identical. The RX 580 fixed a performance issue with multi-monitor. The RX 580 has some more refinements on 14 nm process enabling better overclocking and better stability at a high clock speed. Overall the RX 580 is 10% faster than the RX 480. The RX 580 is a revision of the RX 480 and AMD applied rebranding.

HI, new to Madvr, my usage is 1080p Blu-ray backups and 4k hdr backups
the reason for me using madvr is for the 4k HDR passthrough
my question is, if using madvr for 4k hdr am I right in thinking that a lot of processing is happening to the video ?, surely 4k video don't need any processing as its high resolution and bit rate already, and is it actualy degrading it in any way by using Madvr for 4k ??
or am I getting it wrong and madvr makes 4k even better ??
if madvr don't make 4k any better, would a option to turn of all prossesing and passthrough video and HDR to tv ??
should I be using madvr if I only ever watch 1080p and 4k, but I need HDR passthrough to TV
Thanks
