Sorry guys, my new algo needs some more tweaking time. Maybe 1-2 weeks more, I don't know. Quality is constantly improving, though. Performance seems ok, but will require a decent GPU.

Will be back to answer all open questions/comments when the new algo is completed.
Really looking forward to the next update, but how decent is "decent"? Sadly I only have a 960m GPU so do I get any benefit from the update?

A 960 is considered decent. But it all comes down to what exactly it is. If it's post processing then you'll be adding it on if it's an upscaler then you'll be replacing what you're already running (I would assume) so it's hard to know. You may just need to dial things back a tad, it's all just wild speculation at this point, just wait I'm sure he'll comment on the performance of it on release.

I have two systems one laptop with a 930m and a desktop with a GTX 570 overclocked from factory
By what I see in brnchmarks the 960m is similar to my GTX 570, a little bit slower...
I think it's pretty decent on resolutions up to 1080, with some limitations... even with 930m that's a lot weaker I can use sxbr and refinements...
Sadly almost all maxwell mobile versions are stacked to optimus that bottleneck a lot perfomance... but still can do a lot of things...
But if you think in upgrade your system with the money you can buy a gamer laptop you can build a much better desktop rig

I'm looking for 16-bit RGB fccs, and I also looked inside the madVR.ax binaries to learn something, and I noticed something odd. The order of FCCs and later their namings(?) are as they appear in the file:
FCC - Meaning(?)
-----+--------
RGB0 - RGB48LE
0RGB - RGB48BE
b48r - b48r
RBA@ - RGB64BE
@RBA - RGB64LE
b64a - b48a

Aren't RGB64BE/RGB64LE mixed up for their fccs?

Just thought I'd report, I might be totally wrong, so if this is a false alarm, just ignore my post.

I am getting ~8ms hit when using latest nvidia drivers in Windows 10 x64 with anniversary update (nvidia driver version 375.57). 368.81 is the latest driver I've found that doesn't have that extra hit. Is this a known issue? I downloaded the drivers from nVidia's site.

I started getting jagged and aliased edges... no idea why...

I'm not sure what I updated, did an entire windows reinstall. Nvi drivers official, and latest windows. Some edges are jagged / there is a ton of image error that wasn't there before the reinstall and it's persistent with all madVR settings (even though some settings seem to alleviate it).

Should I install the nvidia driver from official manufacturer, or what would solve this?

I probably wouldn't use the very latest nvidia drivers. Try one or two versions back using a clean install. Reset madVR to defaults if you must.

Nothing serious in there. And they don't have Madshi's algorithms, but just Open Source algorithms Madshi put in madVR, and I'm quite sure he respects licences since there have already been discussion about it in the past.

Hi all,

This is about RGB output levels with a 10 bits display (so dithering 10bits and more activated in MadVr).
I know this is not a new question but I would like a clear explanation as we can read everything and its opposite arround this subject.

Basically there are 3 options:

Setup 1 :
GPU outputs 0-255
MadVr outputs 0-255
Display expects 0-255

Setup 2:
GPU outputs 16-235
MadVr outputs 16-235
Display expects 16-235

Setup 3:
GPU outputs 0-255
MadVr outputs 16-235
Display expects 16-235

Problems:
-There is no way on my UHD (10 bits) TV to select limited or full range.
- Graphic Card GTX 1070: When output is set to 2160p(4k) - RGB Full range, bitdepth is limited to 8 bits / To have 10/12 bits outptut on the GPU, I have to lower outptu level to limited range (16-235).

So what is the best setting for my own use (4k) ?

Madvr (0-255 / 10 bits) --> GPU (0-255 / 8 bits) --> Display

OR

I think 2106p60, 10 bit, RGB444 is not possible with current HDMI 2.0 a/b connection because of bandwidth limitations.

So you have to decide to go 2160p, RGB 444, 8 Bit or 2160p, 422, 10 bit.

I use 2160p, RGB 444, 8 Bit with my RX480 on my 4K TV with Setup Nr 1 (all 0-255)

Man the second settings are wrong
If tv is expecting limites the right is

Madvr 16-235 gpu 0-255 tv 16-235

Also you can try

Madvr 0-255 gpu 16-235 TV 16-235 this can be a good choice for 10 bit on your system

I would say there is no point to sending 10-bit out of madVR if you then have the GPU compress 0-255 to 16-235.

Personally 10-bit or 422 subsampling is an easy choice for me. 8-bit 444 is always preferred. 10-bit is for that little extra improvement after everything else is perfect. Using the GPU to halve the color resolution and letting the TV up sample and do another color conversion is not perfect. Untouched properly dithered 8-bit RGB directly out of madVR is much better.

These are your options:

HDMI 2.0a/b (maximum output - 3840 x 2160):

- 10-bit RGB/Y'CbCr 4:4:4 at 30 Hz
- 10-bit Y'CbCr 4:2:2 at 60 Hz
- 8-bit RGB/Y'CbCr 4:4:4 at 60 Hz

madVR 16-335 -> GPU 0-255 -> TV 16-235

Messes up the desktop but the signal is untouched from madVR.

madVR 0-255 -> GPU 16-235 -> TV 16-235

Desktop remains accurate but GPU must do a color conversion. This is the simplest solution.

I currently use the JVC X9000 with the Lumagen Pro and MadVR.
I have never tried to use any 4K upscaling on my setup but would like to try...
Currently I use image doubling on everything set to always. Using the 1080 video card.

To try this out, do I set both the PC and Lumagen Pro to 4K, or just the Lumagen to upscale 1080p from the PC?
What is the resolution I should use 2160 x ???

I take it I turn off Image Doubling in MadVR with a 4K setup, is that correct?

Now the leak or dump seems to be legit and they already ported the enhance detail sharpener. :(
I hope this will not delay the release of the new version.

Anti-ringing.As a SuperRes refinement, you mean? on 0.90.24 I have only super-xbr with or without anti-bloating under Image Doubling. Anti ringing is found in the regular Image Upscaling section. So, are you referring to SuperRes or, maybe, to AdaptiveSharpen/LumaSharpen with anti-ringing?

Where?In the "Manage 3D settings" tab of the NVIDIA Control Panel. You can even make it a per-program setting by adding your media player of choice in the Program Settings tab.

Yes, I think so. But you want madVR to do the image scaling.

Maybe you need to disable the Lumagen if it is doing any type of image scaling. That is what madVR is for.

I've been playing with different drivers and I gotta say, some things are not working okay in windows after the latest updates.

I can't use copy-back module, need to use native, otherwise there is a huge spike in render time (not processing time, but render, jumps at 8ms, haven't noticed this before)

I guess that I'll do as I always did with nvidia and windows, use it like this and wait for things to get better.

If the RADIANCE is an image scaler, it shouldn't be needed. madVR is also an image upscaler.

I am not sure what there is for a Lumagen Radiance to do when your source is an HTPC running madVR, unless you are using it as source selector switch. madVR should be sending the correct resolution and handling any calibrations (madVR uses a 256x256x256 LUT). I suppose it may offer better deinterlacing than current video cards do.

I got angry and reinstalled windows, and did discover a broken thing ;_;

I get a few frame drops every time I change seek position or when I go from windowed to full screen and vice versa. Is this normal?
