I use QS+madVR just fine on a i72600K-3000 with 50/60fps material under Exclusive Mode with just two changes:
- Scaling: Mtichell-Netravali look agread and are less resource intensive than the tap based ones
- Exxclusive mode settings: "run presentation in a seperate thread"
Not dropped frame in sight!
Nice !
Is this also the case for 720p content ? (both luma + chroma scaling required)

MPC-HC (1.6.2.4634) does not close properly sometimes if you use madVR (v0.82.5 and downwards.) and you have to exit the program in Windows Task Manager under Processes.
You must first press CTRL+C and then ALT+X to be sure that MPC-HC is closed properly.

There's already been enough talk about the resizing algorithms in this thread to cover almost anybody's questions.
Actually I've read the entire thread and this discussion is one of the more interesting tangents I have read. (I was already going to give "kudos" to this discussion.)
I.e. Keep going 6233628 Etc, I am very curious of what all of you have to say! (And I cannot be alone...)
Btw personally while I agree with reducing ringing in low-resolution cartoons, I do not have any problems with ringing when up-scaling 720P movies to 1080P. Furthermore, my Pioneer Kuro Plasma has significantly less ringing artifacts than most LCD displays. On the other hand some associates *hate* even the slightest ringing. Thus [at least to me] that is by definition a user-preference, or at least a setting that is not "one size fits all."

Yup, I can confirm this.
Sir Sorry for this but esafe scanner on virus total site showes that the package is infected with Win32.Banker virus

Sure, get them to fix their scanner. :D False positive if you got it from the link in this forum.
also I tried the old versions 0.8 and 0.5 also the same result
this is for 0.5 version

what is the problem
Even softpedia did not give it its certificate
just don't use it then, there's no reason for madashi to produce an excellent video renderer and be infesting peoples computers with viruses.

AVs are stupid by design, but don't blame them.
Programs can't be smarter than their developers.

It's not even a trick at all, all AVs, even free ones, have their false positive rates. He's confusing legit AVs with rogue malware. In any case, it's pretty obvious it was a false positive.

I concur with everyone here: given that we actually talk with the developer I do not see this as a problem.
Furthermore, I use VirusTotal often. Everytime only 1 (out of 32 or so scanners) comes up with something it has always been a false positive. (Especially when all of the best-made anti-malware companies (like Malware-Bytes) all come up clean. It's a great site, but can leave it opened to paranoia if taken too literally. (VirusTotal itself explains this exact thing on their own website.)

people from eSafe do not like movies!

It actually appears that eSafe is flagging the hash of InstallFilter.exe, but by changing one bit anywhere in the file, the false positive disappears.
That should make the solution easy. madshi just needs to recompile InstallFilter.exe for the next release and hope eSafe won't be idiotic a second time in a row.

madshi doesn't need to recompile anything. So eSafe picks up a virus... who cares?

Has anyone else been having trouble playing DVDs lately?
It's been fine for me until recently, but I'm now getting "Macrovision Fail" errors again and I can't think of any reason why. (madVR and LAV Filters haven't had updates for a while)
Update: It's LAV Filters 0.50.2 that breaks DVD playback. 0.50.1 works fine.
I guess I just hadn't played a DVD since I last updated.
Same problem as described in the other thread. Have you tried with LAV 0.50.3? I haven't

Nobody cares since eSafe didn't pick up a virus. Install Filter itself is completely harmless. All it does is prompt for administrator escalation if UAC is enabled and then run regsvr32. It's a handy tool, which I've actually been making use of for quite awhile as a general purpose shell extension for registering/unregistering *.dll & *.ax files.

Wow! Somehow I managed to avoid Macrovision error and run DVD playback with MS DVD navigator and decoder. Just installed fresh MPC-HC and selected madVR and Reclock - got dvd video to work (including dvd menu). After restarting player got macrovision error again, then reset player settings and selected madvr and reclock again - got macrovision error. After randomly changing audio and video renderer got working dvd playback again.. till player restart. This method works for me only after 20-30 player restarts and changing active renderer.
Maybe this info can be helpful for madshi. Filters Pin info attached.

http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/6849/madvrdvd.jpgDVD playback has been working for quite some time now, if you use the right filter configuration: madVR Video Renderer
ReClock Audio Renderer
ffdshow Video Decoder (make sure that DVD decoding is enabled for MPEG2 under the Codecs tab)
LAV Audio Decoder v0.50.1 or earlier (unfortunately 0.50.2 and up just broke this)
ffdshow Audio Processor, if you are using ReClock's WASAPI output and need to downmix the audio.I also have LAV Splitter Source, and LAV Video Decoder in my external filter list at a higher priority than ffdshow for playing back all other video sources, but they don't currently support DVD decoding.

Still works for me. :D
Anyway, its still something madshi has to address, if it works or not is not deterministic right now(or at least, we don't know all the factors). One one system that above setup works, on another it doesn't, on yet another it works with a whole different setup.
I think macrovision error can be caused by some kind of dvd loading timeout that madVR does not handle propertly. Checked with Process Monitor - error shows right after MPC reads all vob and ifo files from a dvd.

Is there an alternative to libdvdnav to fix that macrovision error? Because as I wrote here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1574498#post1574498), once I use it, DVD audio dies. Even with LAV 0.50.1

Does one need ffdshow to do downmixing instead of having the reciever or sound card do it? Also is there some kind of quiet mode one can use? DRC in lav audio doesn't work with the material im playing.

DRC in lav audio doesn't work with the material im playing. It's not necessary, but the best solution for me. When you say having the "sound card" do it, I assume you mean the Windows Audio Mixer. If you're using WASAPI output from ReClock, the mixer is bypassed.
If your receiver accepts the formats that need downmixed, you can let it do that if you want. My display will only accept a 48kHz, 24-bit Stereo signal, so I need to either disable WASAPI output in ReClock (which lets the Windows Mixer handle it) or have ffdshow Audio Processor downmix the audio to stereo. (which I prefer to do)
ReClock has its own DRC if you want to try that, and I'm sure ffdshow's audio processor will too. (I use headphones so I've never needed to use it)

The windows mixer is bypassed but with some soundcards (such as the Asus Xonar series) the drivers' mixer is not, even with WASAPI/KS (and then, only ASIO can bypass it).
The LAV mixer will be welcome anyway, I prefer to have as few filters as possible, especially on my old laptop.

I guess I'll just wait till madshi fixes the macrovision error and switch to evr for DVDs, I rarely watch them anyway.

Legend! thanks. Since having to disable this I've been having to keep changing between Aero on and Aero off during full screen playback (not using FSE) depending on the file. Some files will tear a lot with Aero disabled, even if i try every option in madVR and reclock to get rid of the tearing, and the same file can be good with Aero on. But then other files with Aero on they stutter, without reporting frame drops or delayed frames or anything. I pray everything goes back to just working with this new driver.

Thats the thing, if sound card mixer is bypassed using wasapi then why does its EQ and other effects still work when enabled? I've looked for Reclock's DRC, its not there anymore and it was possibly only avaliable in older versions.

Apparently it may not bypass the driver-level settings on some soundcards though.

Just built new Ivy based PC. Can anyone else confirm that with the Intel HD Graphics driver there is no difference between Limited RGB and Full RGB? And if so, what is it outputting? As I had to switch my TV from 'High' black level (which is what I would normally set it to when sending it Full RGB) to 'Low' black level I rather suspect something bad is happening.

You should not disable resampling or else ReClock cannot do its job.

Are there any NVIDIA+MPC-HC+madVR+SVP frame users out here? What are your experiences with madVR and using SVP frame?
With nvidia 301.24 drivers and gtx 590 madvr do not upscale the video. When i use Evr everything works normal.
I installed that too in hope of getting rid of the flash player system hang issue. I don't see any problems with scaling.
I am using 301.24 with a GT 540M, and everything works OK except that you have to uncheck the madVR option to use a separate presentation device. Otherwise, you just get a blank screen...
I'm experiencing that one too.

I find this to be a great combination for me. Everyone that sees this combination in action on the TV is amazed, works great together. My only settings in madVR that may have deviated from default, were to enable it to wait until queues are full, and I use cpu queue 24, gpu queue 12, exclusive present frames in advance queue 4.

Bad news is I asked madshi about this just before the CP came out and he said he did not interest in fixing it now. Good news is he did say he'll fix it when Windows 8 actually come out.
I'm pretty sure about the cause though. Some "windows" that always present make madVR think that there are windows elements that are showing and thus does not go into exclusive mode. Those are Charmbar, Desktop, Start screen, etc.
I occasionally get drop frames, but with ReClock it's very rare and I usually don't notice it when that happen, so I'm good with window mode. I have a similar setup: one LCD, one projector. I use one at a time and not extended/mirrored.I was having this same problem - except I noticed that Exclusive Mode would work after a reboot, and stop working only after the start screen was accessed again. I found a slightly messy workaround - restarting the Explorer process fixes it, until the start screen is used again. At least quicker than rebooting, since I can't use Windowed mode due to dropped frames...

What's the difference between SVP and InterFrame (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=160226) ?
SVP is a collection of dlls created by the SVP team, along with a GUI which can create and insert avisynth scripts that use those dlls based on GUI input.
Interframe is another fixed avisynth script created to also use those dlls, which are tweaked by its creator to theoretically create the best quality scripts. The SVP GUI is therefore bypassed. I personally use a slightly edited version of the interframe script for 1080p realtime playback.
