Added sig. ive done the above but no luck. In fse mode on 385.28 there seems to be no issue but performance is lower.

assuming you have a 4k screen remove any 1080p display modes from MADVR, this might be causing it.
I actually dont use MADVR refresh rate switching as there is a bug with AMD cards with it, I use KODI DS refresh rate switching instead, I dont think you can do with this NVIDIA card though as you have to set CRU's for timings.
Ive defo had this before but for the life of me I can remember what it was now, sure it was either windows full screen mode or 1080p display modes, that might be the vodka though :)

I have set DSplayer into Full screen exclusive mode and HDR is now working on 4xx.xx drivers.

Windows 10 1803, Intel UHD Graphics 605 and Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640, some recent Windows updates have crippled video playback on PotPlayer and MPC-BE with madVR and LAV filters.
Playback is fine in windowed mode, but the players don't seem to have focus to receive keyboard comands from a remote control through a USB IR receiver. Focus can be achieved by running madVR in FSE mode, but playback is then slow to start with audio running for 6-8 seconds with one or two frames playing before the video kicks in and plays perfectly. Pausing and restarting the video has no problems. The issue is when starting the video.
There is no such issue in Windows 10 1709, but even with that version some updates have also made the video players lose focus so that FSE has to be employed. In this case though playback starts perfectly well without issue.
I can also say that madVR is the only video renderer that I have tested with PotPlayer and MPC-BE that can overcome the loss of focus for remote control keyboard commands, through the use of FSE. I saw release notes for v0.92.17 that "render & present queues didn't always fill in Windows 10 build 1803" has been fixed, but I still see playback is slow to start with this version.
So my question is, does anyone else have this issue, and is there some way to overcome it?

Same here,, happens with 92.15 too.
GTX660, software decoding.
Probably DirectCompute related.

It's only a matter of taste and feel if you don't own a colorimeter. The I1 dispaly pro is the ultimate power in the universe. I suggest you use it. :cool: You may want to try the 2% pattern and compare to 10% to see if there is any difference, use the brightest reading as target

sony's new tv's have this thing they call, dynamic tone mapping, kinda like hdr10+, but it does it on-the-fly. it would be cool if madshi could add something like this to madvr :P

It is already added...see "measure each frame's peak luminance." It is working well in the latest test build, but already does dynamic tone mapping in the current release.

The 2080 Ti is a lot faster for madVR. ;)
I see a bit over 40% for 1080p -> 2160p with NGU very high upscaling. :D
More tests to follow.
That performance is probably inline or slightly better than video games. Such an upgrade makes it easier to stomach the cost of those GPUs when they should have a very long life.

I recently upgraded my video card from GTX 1060 to RTX 2080ti. After the upgrade I bumped up the NGU chroma and upscaling algorithms from low to their highest settings. When playing video now I get stuttering, however the rendering time is relatively low (<20) when compared to the vsync time for the video frame rate, and all queues are full. If I lower the algorithm setting back down to medium or low the stuttering goes away.
If the card wasn't powerful enough to handle to increased NGU algorithm setting wouldn't I see higher render times and/or queues that aren't filling up? Is there anything else that could explain the stuttering caused by increasing the NGU algorithm quality settings? Appreciate any help on figuring this one out.

Couldn't find if it was already covered, but tone map options "color tweaks for fire & explosions" and "highlight recovery strength) are ghosted in v0.92.17, no matter what I select. Are these not working poperly or are removed, only not from GUI, or am I missing something?

Asmodian would have to confirm this behavior with his GTX 2080 Ti. You don't really benefit much from using NGU very high for chroma upscaling in the interim. This bottleneck has been reported by a few others with different graphics cards.

Make sure when you upgrade a video card, even if it's the same type (i.e. nVidia), that you clean install the driver.

Thanks just switched it back, but still stuttering unfortunately. Also tried the clean driver installation which fixed some other gaming related problems but not the stuttering.
Does anyone know if Nvidia game overlay or Xbox game bar can cause any issue with MadVR when enabled?

You need to look at your clocks. You say the performance is fine when you lower your settings.. I think that's your answer right there. Post your OSD, ideally with both the problematic settings and slighter lower settings that work well also but look at taskman/gpu-Z etc. Asmodian can confirm if your settings for that content yield the same results.. FYI NGU very high can be extremely demanding.

I see ~35ms rendering times with 720p -> 2160p at full crazy settings.
chroma: NGU very high
luma: NGU very high -> very high -> SSIM1D LL
chroma: NGU med -> low
Every upscaling refinement option enabled except SuperRes. ED1 dithering, no smooth motion, no artifact removal options, and no trade quality for performance options. With all artifact removal options enabled I start seeing dropped frames and I am just on the edge, but not dropping frames, with only reduce random noise disabled (23.976 fps).
At my normal settings I get ~17.5ms rendering times.
I did this testing at stock settings (1950 MHz), except the power limit has been doubled with a hardware mod. I don't think this has a big impact on madVR but it might have some. madVR also really likes a memory overclock so I get quite a bit better performance with an overclock.
Does anyone know if Nvidia game overlay or Xbox game bar can cause any issue with MadVR when enabled?
Yes, I know the game bar does cause issues with madVR. It causes issues with many things. I don't know about Nvidia's game overlay but I assume it would also cause issues.
edit: Hmm, I am not sure about the game bar, I was thinking about "game mode".

Right now I use fully updated Windows 10 x64 1607-14393 LTSB for OS and I used NTLite free demo/edition to cleanly and surgically remove Game Bar + all related bloatware. I have ZERO issues with madVR, playback and games. But 1607 is getting old and 1809 LTSC is out. Has anyone tried it (as a fresh OS install) with madVR? Any issues with reported frame skippage, etc?

Updated my main machine to 1809 and have no issues to report with aforementioned 1060 using 416.16 but this is just regarding simple playback (no HDR, no custom resolutions)

The fan is likely hitting higher speeds. A higher GTX would probably complain less about very high. I am using very high with a GTX 1050 Ti at 1080p. Using a custom fan profile in MSI Afterburner keeps the fan at idle, so very high is putting a lot of stress on the GPU, but it isn't getting as hot as I would expect.

Haven't seen it. Try reducing other settings. The load could be becoming too heavy.

Just recieved my new RTX 2010 ti card and has suddenly no frame packed 3d in madvr only side by side. Thought it might have something to do with the new Windows 10 build 1809, so I reverted back to my old Windows 8.1, but it's exactly the same, what the f**k are going on??? :confused:
Nvidia driver version are 411.70
Anyone else???

A few people have reported this. Software decoding by chance? Seems like a common theme on this one but I could be mistaken.

I noticed that the NGU algorithms for image (not chroma) upscaling don't have individual entries to bind to keyboard shortcuts. I am using profile groups to get around that, but would prefer a direct shortcut for that if possible.

I have a feature request. Could madVR disable Light Night in Windows 10 while playing a movie, and then re-enable it afterwards? Some people say this is what happens with with some games, but according to my testing it doesn't happen with madVR (tested both regular and exclusive fullscreen), so I'm assuming it's the game doing it and not an automatic thing in Windows.
There could be a checkbox:
x Disable Night Light while watching a movie (Windows 10)
..x Only while in fullscreen

It should be OK, if you uncheck "compromise tone & gamut mapping ..." under "performance..." (although you'll get worse colors with this).

Hi,
I am trying to execute python scripts in madvr, using python 3.5.4 (3.7 is not supported in windows 10).
Executing the python script in a dos command box works fine, however when executed from madvr remote control command option it does not work.
Event viewer is showing this:

Your GPU doesn't support DirectCompute, which highlight recovery uses, or your extremely high rendering times could be causing this.

In screenshots, what's the difference between "100% view" and "encoded video size"? Is it only in videos with non-1:1 pixels?
100% view is the screen as it appear in the media player. The encoded video size is the original pixel count of the source. I haven't tried the second option, but I think that is what it means.
