I use 0.92.17 and I don't get any message. Backup settings file and reset settings to default. Does it fix it?

the beta are also 0.92.17.
madVR isn't properly adding version numbers.
0.92.17 can mean everything.
and yes the newest 0.92.17 asking you to update to a version that doesn't exist.

The .92.17 zip file I have with a download date in 2021 has this SHA256 checksum: 336651a376890dfb56d4f14871f4e8c7d495d79ceb4d0d69a48f62236f4af623
If yours is different, then the archive is different. I don't get a message with this file.

the release version is broken you "need" the beta version under many situations which are also labelled 0.92.17.

What is broken exactly?
Asmodian

The HDR tone mapping isn't as good, but I am not sure what else is wrong with the original 0.92.17. :scared:

the entire device page can break with 100 of duplicates and ignoring settings.
this is typical on win 11 what so ever it wasn't fixed for fun.
Sunspark
15th July 2023, 18:26
I've run into that duplicates thing on the regular version. It's related to something specific, I can't remember this second what it was, maybe EDID and usage of CRU, but I've stopped it from happening on 10.
huhn
15th July 2023, 19:04
there are even win 11 user that have no issue.
but that's not the point when the device page fails complete you just need the new version.

From AVSForum:
Jul 19, 2023: new build 167 released
Changes:
1) Hard coded "max3 variant 2" to be the new "max3", with fixed parameters. So all lum methods are "done" now.
2) Fixed: OSD elements didn't show in paused state.
The new build will not complain until start of February 2024, to give us some breathing room.
Jul 20, 2023: new build 168 released
Fixed: Noise issue in Travel with my Pet, when using "HSTM: no brightening".
Changed: "HSTM: no brightening" is now only active when HSTM is used
Jul 20, 2023: new build 169 released
Changes:
1) Added the ability to define gamut roll-off per hue (with interpolation in between).

new beta was released http://madshi.net/madVRhdrMeasure169.zip
So, I just need to unzip the zip file into my MadVR folder and run setup.bat in admin mode to use the latest Beta in place of the previous "stable" version, right?

Hi!
Can I use a better deinterlacer than what madVR has by default? It delivers rather poor image quality. Smoothness is not quite perfect either, but it's better than using SW deinterlacing via LAV.

no
it's possible that someone can spend time and make it so but isn't directshow over its expiring date anyway?
maybe we get one day a mpcVR which uses libplacebo maybe not.
Is there anything that uses libplacebo at all?

Hi. So here it goes : after a lot of connectivity issues when doing PC (Nvidia RTX 3070) > TV (LG CX) > Soundbar (JBL 9.1), I decided to try PC > Soundbar > TV, since I don't play games on PC.
And the issue now is ... when I watch a HDR video, it switches to HDR, but will not switch off HDR after it.
I have tried all HDR settings for the display in madVR.
I made sure only the current display was listed in madVR.
I have tried launching a SDR video to see if it could make madVR switch the display back to SDR.
I have tried both settings of changing the display resolution when the player starts, and when it switches to fullscreen.
I have tried windowed and exclusive fullscreen.
I have tried changing the resolution in the Nvidia Control Panel.
I have tried turning off the tv, and then back on.
Nope, HDR, stays on, until the PC is restarted.
Now, when the setup was PC>TV>sounbar, madVR was doing the HDR switch on/off no problem, but I had a lot of issue with sound connectivity, and HDR was washed out recently (and even sometimes black fullscreen). This is why I decided to go with PC>soundbar>TV, and frankly, I have no more issues excepted the one highlighted in this post.
Nvidia drivers : Studio drivers 536.67
LG CX firmware : 04.41.45 (no issues switching between HDR and SDR with, let's say, a PS5)
JBL 9.1 firmware : 22.01.31.80 (The JBL 9.1 soundbar does let 4k60 HDR pass through, that should not be it.)
So what could be the issue? Ask if you need more detailed settings.

If you have an Intel igpu you could try the hardware deinterlacer in quicksync decoding mode.

If you don't like the madvr deinterlacing, have you tried all 4 choices lav offers? You can try other players too.. VLC has 10 deinterlacing choices. MPV has its own set as well.

Has anyone compared a display with 120hz native refresh rate, using reclock and smooth motion? The main plus of smooth motion is that you can use 64 bit player, madvr etc., while with reclock you are stuck with 32 bit. In terms of motion clarity is reclock the right choice?

I ditched re-clock years ago... I use Built-In WASAPI audio render of Potplayer.

If you use custom tuned refresh rate - yes. Otherwise it says 1 frame repeated every 41,37 s. Tested it last night.

Strange... on my system, PotPlayer's Built-In WASAPI audio renderer changes the drop/repeat dramatically. Like you, using DirectSound or any other renderer would give me values in the seconds/minutes... WASAPI is hours/days if it even shows a value. That's why I say it replaces re-clock... maybe it's just me. If that's the case, I will count myself lucky!

Video is 23.976 and should be played at 23 Hz.
But you can also use 119 Hz which is 119.880 Hz. 120 Hz is 120.00 Hz.
It is like the old 24 p bug of Intel HD iGPUs which played back 23.976 as 24.000.

That's a bummer. But madshi has a solution which might still work with the 1050Ti: Add a missing refresh rate

I know, but I don't want to mess with custom resolutions again, my previous monitor was damaged by these.
So it seems that reclock is still needed, even in these days...

I might have one of those monitors.
It's strange though, according to the specifications, I shouldn't be able to do 23.976 but madvr says refresh rate 23.976 and the same for composition rate.
Does it ever happen that madvr reports a number like this but the monitor does some other refresh rate instead?
I can't look at the monitor's menu because unlike the native resolution where it will say the refresh rate, at 1920x1080 it just says 1080p with no indication of what the refresh is.
(This is also a suggestion for those who can't get 23.976 at native to try 1920x1080, you might already have pre-defined blocks for it.)

Careful, some monitors will accept a 23.976 Hz signal but then duplicate frames internally in a 3:2 pattern to go back to 60 Hz, making the whole exercise pointless.

@Klaus1189 It's an old one. Over HDMI it is recognized as a "Digital Television DELL SP2039W". OSD isn't going to show anything.
@e-t172 Interesting, and certainly possible. Is there a way I can test that this is happening without requiring a second display?

Turns out it might be the case that the monitor is pulling it back up to 60 despite the input signal being accepted.
I don't have a camera with a manual exposure control so I can't use the rtings test video at 24. The madvrtestpatterns file was no good because despite installing with administrator the player says it can't render the ytp file.
I hunted around and I found this other video on the kodi website: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwxFVkl63-lERkJRU003ZTd2VEk/view?usp=sharing&resourcekey=0-swC_jMVMd_EXmweT0tGKSg
It's a 1080p23.976 video with scrolling bars.
madvr doesn't like this video much. You can get it to play by going to fullscreen and back out again, otherwise it freezes.. mpcvr does a little better, but if you let it change the resolution in the player, it gets stuck. vlc can play it fine.
Anyway, playing it at 60 and 23.976 the top bar scrolling doesn't seem to look any different.
It also doesn't seem to look any different with smooth motion turned on, so I don't understand.
huhn
28th July 2023, 22:17
yes madVR can't handle the video.
remux it with some audio may work just fine.
kodi can also resample. so can mpv.

i have the newest version installed and it just get's stuck/slow down in fullscreen and stays this way with an infinity rising decoder queue.
i'm blindly assuming some audio video sync issue decoder and video player disagree where they are.
