I have older version inside MPC HC folder and works very well ..
this release doesnt work (click -> run as admin as always )
Does the old version still work? If yes, just copy the new files over the old files and you should be good to go.

I copy the files over MadVr 0.90.24 ( no unistall )
and now i have new release

Did you have an older version installed? In that case you can just copy the files over, no need to uninstall again. Otherwise try right click -> run as admin. If that also doesn't help, you may have to run "regsvr32 madVR.ax" manually in an admin command line window.
I used the manual method you just described. But I can also confirm that the .bat file does not work on Windows 10 anniversary update (all other updates installed). Previously it worked fine. It just shows a black screen now. This is with running it as Admin, too.

Does the 90.24 batch file still work? Just wondering if something unexpected changed in 91.0 or if the anniversary update is causing the issue.

Yes that batch file still works. i just rolled back to 90.24 using the old .zip. couldn't get the new version to work even when manually registering it. copy over method was the only one that eventually let me use 91.0

madVR v 0.91.0 doesn't react to any keyboard shortcuts for me. Old version fine. Resetting settings doesn't help. 32 bit and 64 bit affected. MPC-HC + MPC-BE affected. Windows 7 x64 SP1.

FHD to UHD 23p
nnedi3 64 luma only cost about 17 ms
NGU high quality luma only takes about 71 ms
nnedi3 256 luma only cost about 67ms
this is not working as intended or?
edit: installer is broken for me too.

Strange. madVR must be thinking your running it inside of a debugger or something. Do you have any debugger type of stuff running?

Wow, NGU really seems to have hardly any bad properties.
Quick test 960x540 -> 1440p quadrupling (bicubic 150 AR downscaling)
NGU high:

To put it short: Full of win. Most impressive, madshi!
Very low on ringing, aliasing and no bloating. Looks very clean and natural at the same time.
Some other observations:
-very artifact-free as a chroma scaler, but unlike reconstruction sharp, there is still some "dark haloing". Probably the reason why you want to use the approach for a luma-guided option later.
-I'm not sure if the high settings looks noticeably better for chroma than medium, for luma it certainly does.
-combining it with the deringing filter leads to similar artifacts like deringing + SuperRes, so deringing shouldn't be used with NGU (NGU seems to dering the picture anyway)
-using SuperRes on top of NGU doesn't look very helpful, but since it doesn't bloat, this wouldn't be a good idea anyway
Need to do some more tests with cartoons and other naturalistic images.

Keyboard shortcuts don't work in the v0.91.
I had some BSOD in the last few releases. If you can take a look I would be great.
I'm on W10 v1607, AMD v16.9.2, MPC-HC v1.7.10.269, LAV v0.68.1.35-git.
Thanks.

Not that I'm aware of. MS EMET? This isn't a new copy-protection added after the 4chan thing, is it?

Would be great to get performance comparison results from different GPUs and OSs, NGU vs NNEDI3.
Those of you for who the keyboard shortcuts don't work, it's possible NGU isn't working for you, either. Please verify via OSD. Is NGU listed there?

Try deactivating EMET as a test. And yes, it's a new protection, thanks to 4chan. Although the keyboard shortcuts not working is more of a debugging help, not a protection. But if madVR thinks its being debugged, NGU isn't activated, either.

@aufkrawall, how's the performance for you? With which GPU?
I'm on a GTX 1070 OC.
I can't use NG1 medium image doubling for 1080p 60fps -> 4k -> WQHD with other stuff like HQ deband at the same time.
NGU medium: ~20ms
NNEDI3 32: ~18.5ms
NNEDI3 16: ~14.2ms (no frame drops)
Shiandow
18th November 2016, 22:01
Please note that in order to measure shader passes I have to flush the GPU and wait for the rendering to succeed. This will actually slow overall rendering speed down. So I wouldn't bet on that each shader pass actually takes that much time when not forcing the GPU to flush after every render pass.
FWIW I've also measured around a 0.49ms difference in total rendering time per shader (without flushing the GPU). Obviously this is only the case if the shaders are fast enough, but with a decent modern GPU (>=GTX 960) you can do a massive amount of computation before the computation time gets anywhere near 0.5ms.
Nobody has had a hand in NGU other than me. Well, of course I must have read several dozen scientific papers about image processing and upscaling, and I've certainly taken many good ideas from several such papers, and added a couple of my own ideas.
Are there any paper's you'd recommend?

Hmmmm... Seems to be a bit slower (compared to NNEDI3) on the 1070 than on my AMD 7750. For me NGU medium is a bit faster than NNEDI3 32.
How does NGU high compare to NNEDI3 64 for you?

:( Is there anything else special about your OS? Does NGU work for you?

Agreed. It seems NGU achieves the expected speed with my AMD 7770 and with aufkrawall's NVidia 1070. So it's obviously not GPU manufacturer specific. I wonder if the 480 (driver) is special? Or maybe some GPU driver or OS setting is making problems?

Those of you with keyboard shortcuts (and probably NGU) not working:
1) Do you have f.lux running?
2) Or GpuZ?
3) Or FRAPS?
4) Or any other similar software which might access the GPU?
5) Do you use Reclock? Does it work if you disable Reclock?

Also in previous build I was able to preview settings on the fly - set picture on pause and changed various madVR settings - changes reflected immediately. Now any setting i'm playing with doesn't impact an image on the fly.

720p 60fps -> WQHD, everything else than ordered dithering disabled, bilinear chroma scaling, CPU decoding:
NGU High: ~11ms

NNEDI3 64 + SR3: ~11.85ms
Everything tested with full GPU clock.

From my testing soften edges is a rewquirement for live action. NGU medium doubling seems manageable on my HD7770 for SD and 720p on a 1080 display as long as other settings are defaults. Very impressive and happy to replace SuperXR-AB+SR.

I try find suitable settings for me. Some answers will be helpfull:
med vs high quality difference big, or it like nnedi 32 vs 64?
Using NGU (med) for chroma upsampling (chroma upscaling section) add extra quality (vs bicubik 75, for example)? Or i just waste gpu resources?
In personal teste, these differences not obvious for me. Anyway, NGU looks great, even without SuperRes.

I noticed that AMD video color settings are not applied in fullscreen mode when 1080p video is playing on my 1080p screen. The only difference is that there is a "Crop 2" procedure applied during the render.
If I use MPC HC zoom feature and outzoom the color settings are applied. Is there any way to make it work ? I use a combination of Madvr and AMD video settings, works fine with all videos except 1080p.
