neither the PC nor madVR can black the TVs native info bar only the TV can.
but why would the time information survive...

hi guys
it seems that when i use MadVR with Mpc-BE , when i go full screen, the lower dark bar and the top one
are both covering the Subtitles (bottom) and even the TV's native Display info (at the top) (https://prnt.sc/xOh2_6o6FLwP)
using v 00.92.17 (forgot on how to check what build)
i went all nuts on it: ddu, new drivers, new madvr, new mpc-be, fresh settings
all is fine now :)

I'm unsure if HDR is working correctly. I've just upgraded from Win 10 to Win 11.
I'm using MPC-HC x64 latest version and madVR.
When I launched hdr movies with this setup in Win 10, my TV (LG CX, secondary display, connected via HDMI, I don't 'extend', I use only the monitor or only the TV at a time) would switch over to HDR mode, with colors matted in windowed mode, and with correct HDR display in fullscreen mode.
But now in Win 11, it appears to have somewhat correct colors in windowed mode as far as I can tell, perhaps without the fullest contrast hdr can give, but it does NOT switch the TV into hdr mode. It remains in standard mode regardless of fullscreen or not.
Rtx 5090 (572.83 drivers). Any advice would be appreciated. :)

I figured ut out. I had to remove displays from madvr, unplug the monitor cable and let madvr discover the tv afresh as the only connected display, making it primary.
But now I can't get madvr to NOT enable hdr on my IPS desk monitor... I've set it to tone mapping, but it still switches to hdr mode when opening a hdr file.

@huhn, @Sunspark thank you! appreciate the input! One thing is for sure, there doesn't seem to be much advantage in using d3d11 native instead of copy-back with powerful modern hardware. Performance difference is maybe 1-1.5ms with my setup.

I still get the issue, sometimes, of HDR mode being entered into on the TV when opening a hdr file, but the colors are extremely matted and dimmed video, such as you typically see outside the video window. I have to reboot to get it back to working normally.

ms are not telling the story because of powerstates and so on.
even if both do the same software can be faster.

the left images uses 16 % GPU with 4.98ms right images is 18% with 4.01 ms. this was quadruple checked.
in this test with advanced renderstats on off the instance with advanced renderer stats which is plain slower was objectively faster by showing to be massively 25% slower in the OSD.
sense this doesn't make any.

You can either turn on Windows HDR toggle manually in display settings, do a full PC reboot or restart the GPU driver using the CMD command or "restart.exe" utility bundled with Custom Resolution Utility (CRU).

I reinstalled my OS (Win10 Pro x64 fully updated, Nvidia driver 566.36/572.83), everything's working so far, except when I play an HDR file I'm not getting 10 bit from madVR, I'm forgetting something.
Screen says:
Display (NV HDR, 12 bit. RGB, full)
D3D11 fullscreen windowed (8 bit)
P010, 10 bit, 4:2:0
It should say
D3D11 fullscreen windowed (10 bit)
I'm using Internal LAV
Hardware Decoder DXVA2 CB (also tried D3D11)
Tried both Hardware Device Automatic (Native) and GPU
madVR settings:
Device: native display 10 bit (or higher)
rendering - general settings: checkmark in "Use Direct3D 11 for presentation"
These work on my old OS.
// And it's getting weirder
After madVR switches resolution, when go in Nvidia Control Panel and change a setting that resets the screen like checking or unchecking "Override to reference mode" or switching between any of the Scaling options "Aspect ratio" "Full-screen" "no scaling" 10 bit works immediately. It doesn't matter what it was set as initially. Changing it multiple times keeps 10 bit, so it only happens when the file is opened initially. But it's also happening if I'm at 23Hz already and madVR is not switching refresh rates, just turning on HDR. Also tried OS HDR so madVR isn't switching anything, still the same.
Seems very likely an nvidia issue, just weird that it wasn't happening before. I plugged in the old OS drive and combed through nvidia settings, power management mode was different, but changing it doesn't fix it. Tried with old 133 beta just in case, but it's the same there too.

I've been trying to get to the bottom of what causes madvr frame drops every 40 seconds when using Bluetooth Headphones on my system, I have had various different signs of headphones receivers cpus main boards etc and I've had this issue with all of them the only thing I haven't changed in the last 10 years is my tv.
I've tried it with waspi / turned on or off, Just just waspi off, The only thing that seems to change that figure is if I turn off refresh where it matching and let my player play our 60 Hertz my desktop value it then goes up to 2.5 minutes, Clearly something in the audio sky I'm interested to know if anyone else has this issue has any workarounds or solutions. I recently bought some Sennheiser Momentum 4s With lossless audio which I want to use of an evening this sound fantastic but frame drops every 40 seconds is doing my head in. I've tried with the standard Bluetooth dongle using sbs codec and they also bought an aptx lossless dongle, it's making a difference at all. I also have this problem with my artist pro headphones they also connected via usb but the signal Wasn't Bluetooth, Which suggests to me that it's something in the usb audio stack that's causing it And not actually bluetooth itself.

A couple questions raised by OSD:
1. Why does luma always need either further upscaling or the absurd route of overupscaling then downscaling back with <= 720p videos? It can't actually supersede the far superior scaler ("NGU AA very high > Jinc AR") at least, right..?
2. Why is there a second chroma line after luma that always shows a lower quality than the first one, no matter if I have chroma at very high both on the chroma upscaling and image upscaling tabs?

the bluetooth device and the GPU have different clocks that alone explains everything.

the same as always with sync issue.
highest refreshrate SM
reclock or a clone of it
custom refreshrate
yes i would also assume they just use the CPU clock but looks like that's not the case. but even then it would not match.

Here (https://github.com/AmohtAmuat/madVR) you go. These 720p videos have both things I mentioned going on, 1080p have the second chroma line but not the further upscaling, 4k videos have neither.
I was thinking that maybe it has something to do with how NGU either doubles or quadruples, and while 1080 can be neatly doubled to 2160, 720 can't be multiplied to 2160 in quite so simplistic way. Still it seems to me like it would be even more complex to do it by somehow mixing two scalers, but then again I have no idea what goes on under the hood... When it comes to that second chroma line with always decreased quality from the first, I don't even have a vague guess.

it is doing 360p chroma to 720p using NGU AA VH
luma 720p to 1440p using NGU AA VH
chroma 720p to 1440 using NGU AA med (which is a waste in this case)
image 1440p to 2160p using jinc
BTW you have a mismatch frame rate.

chroma 720p to 1440 using NGU AA med (which is a waste in this case)
Why only medium, and why is it a waste?
BTW you have a mismatch frame rate.
I decided to drop the 2160p23 from display modes as for some reason 23.976 gives me wonky movement unlike 24 even when the source is 23.976, go and figure...
How exactly the scalers offered in the upscaling algo options go about doing that final stretch, does it not mess with the results achieved with the primary scaler (when it's NGU)? And would you recommend something else than Jinc to go with AA?

because chroma was already scaled one time a second time has little to no effect. it's also insanely expensive to do.
why would anything been stretch? corrections scale after doubling matter very little.

Hi, anyone out there still playing 3D movies, got a bit of an issue. Not played anything 3D for a while so i'm not sure when this is started. If I play a 3d movie it plays fine, however if I skip through a little I start getting presentation glitches every second or so, if I stop the movie and start it again in the same place all is good so I have a workaround, pausing doesnt help. Tried a few things to get to the bottom of it but getting nowhere, its not hardware acceleration as I turned that off as thats the first thing I thought it would be, I tried the latest version of MADVR and the last oldest version, all with default settings and still the same. Does it with both KODI DS and MPC-HC so it must be MADVR, LAV or DRIVER related.
Anyone come up against this, have any suggestions?

That does fix that issue but it re-breaks the other issue I now get Presentation glitches which are undefeatable with GP scheduling turned on or off and FSE turned on or off.
So I guess I either have to leave this broken and be on the latest version and stop and start the movie every time I skip I'll go back to 09217 I live with the extra information tabs coming up every time I open the settings, Does that actually cause any problems or can I just delete the mall every now and again?
EDIT, Went back to the old version that is now completely broken presentation glitches are completely undefeatable now regardless of what settings I use I'm not sure why moving from one version to another completely broke it I even wiped it and set it all up again and it's still broken so I've had to go back to the latest version and I'll just have to live with stopping the movie and restarting it if I want to skip it just help this gets fixed with the next release but he sounds busy.
EDIT 2, I remember i had updated my GPU driver at the same time as switching back to old version, I rolled back and now both old and latest beta is now working properly with no presentation glitches, HAGS needs to be off and FSE need to be on for this to work though. Driver version I am using is 23.1.1
