Does the freezing happen even if the same files are burned to a BD-RE? I know I tested "The Matrix" successfully, but I can't remember if I tested it on BD-9.
I'm not sure I follow. All my dialogue has been with the assumption that the backup target is BDR\BD25. I don't do any BD9 backups anymore except for animation. Do you mean just try to BD-RE as opposed to BD-R? If so I have done that with same results.
Sorry can't be more help :)
I can for certain say though that AC3+ audio tracks with PiP are working 100% as they should though on the S550.

Please be good enough to post when you've accomplished this ;>}
I second this and thank you for your patience, jdobbs. :)
I was feeling, well.. it reminds me of putting an ice cream cone in front of a child, and to see those eyes light up and tongue starts salivating, and just when they reach out to take that first lick, the scoop falls to the ground. ;)

Might have been answered in a previous post but i can't find it. How do i enable the video for secondary stream(PiP). It shows a red "X" were the video should be and i think thats why i get stuttering issues with Matrix and now with Coraline. On a side note I cant remove the audio for that either. These are BD25 backups.
Thank you :)

The difference is that for that one version (I assume you mean 2502), I didn't use EXECryptor (my license ran out over that weekend). So for 2502 I used ASPROTECT. I renewed the EXECryptor license and went back to it. You need to notify McAfee -- it has to be a false positive. I've been using that package for a long time -- including all the BD Rebuilder versions.
Honestly, I know we need these virus packages because of the high number of a$$holes in the world -- but sometimes I wonder if they are more trouble than they are worth.
I'm totally with you there. :)
I had a Trojan Warning with Avira on 2501 and now 2503, but by deselecting "Automatic Removal" from within Avira and giving me the selection option on making the calls on any of those warnings, so I just simply ticked "Ignore", and now I still have use of Avira and your super BD Rebuilder.:D

I can for certain say though that AC3+ audio tracks with PiP are working 100% as they should though on the S550. I'm really confused now. I thought that sound issue only happened on BD-9. The Frost/Nixon example I spoke of worked on BD-25, but failed on BD-9.
Hmmm... but then again I probably switched from the BD-S301 to the BD-S350 player in the meantime.

I've updated the first post of this thread with a link to a new version of BD-RB (v0.25.04). Changes:
- Modified EXE compression to prevent false positive
from AV program(s).
- Added code to prevent "forever loop" in one-pass
prediction under certain unusual circumstances.
- Added a default background image to be used when
blanking occurs. You can change if you wish, but
remember it will be stretched/shrunk to match the
source resolution. Look in the new MISC folder.
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.
Added note: If you delete the "blank.jpg" file in the MISC folder, the program will use the old blanking technique.

I think that there are crossed wires. I replied to him assuming that he had identified a way of resolving the bd-9 issue when in fact it was to do with a different issue regarding the PiP audio playback on bd-r.
From what you mentioned before, is it possible to remove additional references to the PiP and associated audio above and beyond what the early versions of the programme did by effectively ignoring them. I've never bothered with this function but would like to keep 'full discs' for the other extras and yet see if it could be made to work as bd-9 on a Sony.

Hi,
I tried Bourne Identity and Hellboy 2 (both Universal Titles with PiP) with PiP processing enabled in BD-RB 25.03. Full to BD25.
The main movie still does not play with PowerDVD.

Does this also blank out on BD25 ReEncodes now if you choose not to copy VC-1 1080i files.
Also since you have now made quick encode for extra's on by default what happens with seamless branched discs does it do a full 2 pass on every segment of the movie of just the largest one
plus what happens if you choose to manually change the audio selections via the GUI on a seemless branched disc by say adding or removing an audio track does this also get reflected to all segments or just the one altered.
Thanks

Movie "Doubt". BD-RB v0.25.03. Movie only / resize 720 / 2 x audio ac3 448 / 1x sup.
1-pass encoding. Disk (DVD5) filled to 98%. Perfect.
However, audio lags by about 1 second. (I never experienced a sync problem before with BD-RB).
Re-muxing didn't help. Any idea what could be wrong?
I did the same manually with the .m2ts file as source, using DG...NV for indexing and eac3to for audio demuxing / 448 ac3 conversion, and tsmuxer for blu-ray muxing. Audio/video sync is ok.

I've been using EXECryptor for a long time -- in fact, I think it was on every BD-RB version other than 2502 and the one I just released. My guess would be that it was caused by an erroneous database update to your ATT McAfee.

Yes, I have used every version from back in December 2008, from your initial release. Only 2501 and 2503 caused McAfee to react. I guess that is why I thought it was strange.

Does the other method indicate an audio delay?
I see no such indication from the log, and the tsmuxer .meta includes timeshift=0. The original audio formats for the 2 tracks are DTS HD XLL Multi-Ch and DTS Multi Ch which I convert to ac3 448kbps.
I will demux the audio with DGAVCIndex and see if it indicates a delay for the audio.
Added: DGAVCIndex flagged all audio tracks with DELAY 0ms

lol, definately have some knots in communiaction here :)
I'll try to clarify.
You're right the audio problem with no audio\subs being selectable does only happen on BD9.
My problem isn't related to that. If you go back a page you will see that I managed to get the PiP AND PiP AC3+ audio tracks working by changing a setting on my player.
However I am still experiencing freezing issues on "The Day The Earth Stood Still" whenever a PiP window appears when watching the film. It will freeze just before it should appear. On this disc there is no audio track present for the PiP video. It should just show some storyboards and related silent things. The main audio track is DTSMA.
All AC3+ PiP discs are working PERFECTLY. They all use TrueHD as the main soundtrack

Only other problem is that when playing the backup BD25 all interlaced material isn't getting deinterlaced instead got zig zag\scanlines all over the place (using KEEP_INTERLACING=1).

I'm waiting for my 0.25.2 8% sample encode to finish, with 1%, 2%, 4% already done.
Black Hawk Down, regionB, Movie Only BD25 destination, High Speed+One-pass. More about this later.
Meanwhile a thought came into my mind: it has always been my understanding that Trellis should be somehow (but not necessarily) helpful in a 2-pass encoding environment and that could lead to unpredictable results in 1-pass only encoding. I just leave it disabled by default. What is your opinion?

Hello jdobbs, nice work on all the new features. I especially like the shut off at completion.

Just completed "Ghostbusters" movie-only, "One pass-experimental", set for BD-5, English 5.1 .AC3 only, and no subtitles.
The resultant BluRay "package", although of very good visual quality compared to the original BluRay disc, is only 3.65Gb...
I don't think it had any bearing on the outcome (since this was a movie-only conversion) but, I unchecked "Quicker encode for extras".
Your thoughts?

I did Watchmen Dir Cut, movie only, 2 pass. There are 2 versions of the movie on the disk;the main movie, and then there's the Max Movie Mode, w/ pop ups & the Director coming on screen & talking about the movie. When I do a movie only it seems to pick the track of the Max Movie Mode, not the track of just the movie. How do I select what track I want to do for a movie only copy? Is there a way to extract the track I want to another directory & let BD-RB work on that? Thanks.

Just tested BD-RBV02504 on a full movie backup to BD-25 on Beowulf, region 1, NTSC with PROCESS_SECONDARY=1 set, since this is a PIP Blu-Ray. There is only PIP video in the original, no audio. Burned to BD-RE for playback on my Sony BDP-BX1.
The backup video pauses at the starting point of the pop up PIP, approx. 1 minute from the start of the movie. The time clock continues to advance. There is no PIP visible, only the border that would surround it if it were present.
If I select to play the movie only without the option of the PIP, it still pauses at the same time. The video remains a still picture from the start of where the PIP would pop up, and will not advance or resume.
EDIT:
The movie will not start, only a black screen when I tried to play back the BD-RE on my computer with PowerDVD 7.3.
It does play fine, including PIP with TMT 2.1.6.130 however.
It's just too bad I don't watch my movies from the PC. :(

Got it.

Just completed "Ghostbusters" movie-only...The resultant BluRay "package", although of very good visual quality compared to the original BluRay disc, is only 3.65Gb...Seems to me you just might be "arguing with success". Maybe 3.65 Gb is all x264 needs to make a good quality copy.
If you are hell-bent to hit a target, perhaps you should use 2-pass instead.

Well, this looks like exactly the same problem I had with The Day The Earth Stood Still and on a different SAD (Sony BDP-S550), This disc also has no audio on the PiP...
jdobbs, maybe there's a bug in the way PiP is handled if there is no audio...Is BDRB "expecting" an audio stream to be present and doing something wrong because there genuinely isn't one present on the original? As said already AC3+ with PiP is working perfectly for me with all discs I have tried, about 6

Interesting, though, that the two examples I've seen that freeze include a video secondary with no audio.
So what's with the bold printing? Has your voice gotten deeper?

@jdobbs, @laserfan
I just re-did "Ghostbusters" using identical settings, except I unchecked "One-pass(Experimental)".
The result was a 4.17Gb BluRay "package" of superior visual quality than the one of 3.65Gb.
Upon more careful re-examination of the 3.65Gb version, I was able to observe some small background pixelation and blocking that I hadn't noticed when I first created it. The fact that the original BluRay is very grainy didn't make it any easier for my old eyes to evaluate ;>}
BTW - The videostream of the original BluRay disc is 17.2Gb. The English audiostream is 481Mb

If you are hell-bent to hit a target, perhaps you should use 2-pass instead. From previous postings by "jdobbs", it's apparent to me that the intent regarding "One-pass (Experimental)" is to obtain the best possible quality result by, among other things, using (logically) as much disc space as is available.
My report of the result of using the "One-pass (Experimental)" is primarily intended to let "jdobbs" know that there appears to be a bug in his most recent algorithm regarding ending filesize - not to be personally satisfied or dissatisfied with the visual results (which is presented just as a sidenote)...

I'll try it on the BDP-S360 when it completes.
[Edit] Actually, it had to have run on the BDP-360 when I tested it. The BDP-S301 doesn't support PiP.

Using v0.25.03 and doing a BD-25 of Watchmen (movie only) regular 2 pass mode. I noticed this morning that Log shows Reencoding VID_00509 (10 of 25) then for 3 minutes it shows this error. [05:37:23] GUI Issue, No hwnd returned. It shows this error for 5 times for each sec. for 3 minutes untill [05:40:01] then stops and no further message till reencode starts for VID_00510 at [05:50:00]. I am running Vista Home premium 32k. I had internet off and no others apps running so wonder what made it quit communicating with the GUI for 3 minutes? Is this the frozen at 50% back again (just shorter duration) or was the encoder stuck and I need to start over? I had that frozen GUI a lot using earlier version but no problems untill this encode. I usually just do BD-9's all the timebut this DVD is 3Hrs plus and need the room. Thanks, BTW: Great program. I really enjoy using it and look forward to when it goes on sale. I will be one of the first to purchase.

It doesn't negatively affect anything -- but the GUI isn't being updated during the second pass. I sure wish I could figure out why sometimes the O/S -- only occasionally and randomly -- doesn't return a hWnd for a window that I KNOW is there (because it is executing).

Wow allot has changed in the time I have been away. You have been busy jdobbs. I had a chance to sit down try out the new vession last night and remembered someone had issues with Die Hard 2. Movie processed fine and you might want to try it again with this new version.
Now I will dig out something with PIP and give that a go while I am catching up with things around the house here.

Just found a bug with 2504, loaded in madagascar 2 region B, full back up to BD 25 keeping HD audio etc, and the pip video for the main video track is crossed out and won't let you select it for re-encode, but the 2nd audio is selected. Reinstalled 2402 and the pip video is correctly selected but the 2nd audio isn't won't???

Did you try it with keep HD audio, DTS HD Master audio ?
If so, does it play back on a standalone ?
Also, do you have an HDMI receiver capable of playing DTS HD Master audio ?
The movie backed up fine for me, but only silence from the DTS HD Master audio track when played back on my BX1.
It plays the DTS HD Master audio fine on the PC though.
