It was this usual windows message:

Windows encountered a problem with x264.exe
- search for a solution online
- close the program

something like this.

Now i encoded 3 movies over night w/o any problems.
Maybe it's because of many (short) files?

Normally i do an main movie extract (that i have one m2ts file) and then reencode out of this. -> I'll try again both methodes (from original and from new muxed). I stand corrected. It crashed last night on Iron Man 2. I'll look at it.

Anyone else having "crashing" issues with this last release?

Yes, LAVF is selected (crossed).

jdobbs

Yes, LAVF is selected (crossed). It could be an option I enabled for LAVF to counter issues with hybrid sources... it actually isn't needed now, as I implemented a different way of handling hybrid. Not sure that's it, but it is the only X264 command line change associated with this release. I've started "Iron Man 2" again.

@jdobbs;
I ran a full backup last night, and it completed just fine. :)
I have yet to change/select "Use X264's internal LAVF for decoding". Should I be?

No crashing and not sure if this has been covered elsewhere, but version 0.35.01 re-encoding "Iron Man 2" Full Backup to BD25 (Custom Target Size (23450 MB)) and converting the DTS-HD XLL, Multi-Ch, English audio track to the default 640kbps AC3 resulted in audible gaps at the .mt2s file transition points on the burned disc - the video is seamless, but you can hear an audio gap/jump/interruption where one .mt2s file ends and next in the playlist begins (at least for the first several transitions - I didn't check every one). Not converting DTS to AC3 fixed it - both the video and audio transitions are seamless. The gaps were audible when played on the Sony BDP-S360 and PowerDVD. LAVF was not selected - the only other option changes common to both re-encodes were "Quicker" Encode for Extras (unchecked), RESET_PERMISSION=0 and assuming AUDIO_AMPLIFY=n is still set to the default 1.2 in BD_Rebuilder.exe. Looking at both re-encodes in BDedit.exe, the IN time/OUT time values appear to be identical.

LOL! I was thinking myself I must have a rock solid overclock. I noticed that the X264 utilized 100% of the cpu. Excellent! I wonder how it does with a 6+ core...

Running Win7 64bit on AMD 1055T 6 core. X.264 consumes 99-100% of all 6 cores.

Yeah, but the non-US BD of IM 2 is a BD25!
I've have the EU/German Version and it's a BD25.
The US Disc is a BD50, or am i wrong?

Also Iron Man 1, the US Disc was a BD50 and the Non US a BD25.

The Quality of the US Disc is much better.
Dont understand, why they releasing 2 different Discs

I think I found what was causing it to randomly crash, it was a setting I'd added to the X264 command line to resolve another issue (it was added only for LAVF) -- it turned out not to be related to to the fix for the other issue. So I removed the setting in the next release. Interestingly, though, I was only able to repeat the crash that one time before the change... so I'm not even 100% positive that was the cause of the crash. I've done a lot of discs since then, though, and had no problem whatsoever.

Getting an annoying Audio out of sync problem with this BD.

Trying to fit to DVD9. I was using the last stable version, wonderful program by the way, and the audio was off by seconds throughout the entire movie.

I then downloaded the latest version last night and tried again. The audio is very close, but still off by a half second.

Any additional info you need? I read the posts from PurpleMan having a similar or maybe identical issue? Did the latest release work for him?

Thanks

No problem with Robin Hood here. There was an issue with the extras (hybrid sources), but it was corrected in v0.35.1. Make sure you start over from scratch, the issue was in the encoding -- not the rebuild.

So, I was lazy and didn't re-rip the disk yet, but tell me if you think this is odd.

From the original rip, I did a complete movie shrink to a 25 GB BD for a backup with an older version of Rebuilder. That was the original encoding. Then I shrunk the main movie to DVD 9 with the same older version. That was the one that was funky.

I checked the 25 GB version and the audio is perfectly synchronized. Since these files were already on my computer, I updated Rebuilder, and tried again to shrink the main movie to a DVD9 from the already compressed 25 GB files with the perfect audio synchronization. I tried it twice with two different quality settings. Each time, the audio was out of sync, and got progressively worse the farther into the movie you go.

Are you saying if I re-rip from my commercial DVD, the new version of the program will not create the same problem? I guess I don't understand enough to know why the audio is fine in the 25 GB full backup created with the old version, but then messes up with main movie shrink to DVD9 with the new version. Can you lend a guy a clue? :o

Thanks for your help and work on this program!

I'm not there and can't look at everything you did or didn't do, and there are way too many variables -- so I'd be guessing... all I can say is that you should rip it again and run the new version. There was an issue with sync on the extras with prior versions, but it was fixed. BD Rebuilder works with "Robin Hood".

Hi there,
I was attempting to rebuild Kelly's Heroes to a 25 GB size, it ran thru phase one but when it attempts to encode it fails. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit with the latest versions of Matroska splitter and FFDSHOW. Was able to run a successful rebuild of "Charade" earlier. Just trying the "Movie Only" option in all cases.

[14:34:57] - Failed video encode, aborted Your problem is spelled out in your post. You are running "latest versions of Matroska splitter and FFDSHOW", and here:

- HAALI Splitter: Isn't recommended version
- FFDSHOW: , not recommended version

New bugs are introduced in those packages often. Go to the first page of this thread and read the instructions. You'll note that it asks you to download the versions linked there. For HAALI, make sure you remove the folder in "Program Files" after removing it -- some of the versions leave files there and cause BD-RB to see it as the
wrong version.

What are you using to rip your discs? The "frame too large" error you mentioned is most often associated with a bad rip. I've heard of it happening on poorly ripped sources that folks have downloaded. If you downloaded it please don't discuss it here.... as that is strictly against DOOM9 rules. If your rip wasn't done with AnyDVD -- then that would likely be the cause. My experience leads me to believe that AnyDVD is the only reliable ripping software for Blu-Ray. Thousands ripped: and none that had ripping issues (at least not in a long, long time).

Hi there,
I deleted the incorrect versions of HAALI and FFDSHOW (it deleted the folders from the x86 program directory), and installed the recommended versions from your links provided.
Reran the job to rebuild Kelly's Heroes, got further this time but
now I get a config error in FFDSHOW, is there a way to change this so it will run?

Hi there,
I deleted the incorrect versions of HAALI and FFDSHOW (it deleted the folders from the x86 program directory), and installed the recommended versions from your links provided.
Reran the job to rebuild Kelly's Heroes, got further this time but
now I get a config error in FFDSHOW, is there a way to change this so it will run?
Error from the log:
FFDSHOW VC-1 set incorrectly: [0]

Here's the entire log:

Thanks for your help. If you allow BD Rebuilder to change the registry values (by running it as Admin the first time, as the instructions in the first post says) it will set that up for you.

If you want to do it yourself, click on the start button, select programs, select FFDSHOW, then "Video Decoder Configuration". Under VC-1, select "VC-1" select "wmv9".

Do you see where it says, "Resuming from previously started job."? I ran into that problem with one of my earlier encodes. When I deleted all of my previous attempt and restarted from scratch, It ran without any issues. Give it a try.

I restarted the encoding again freshly with the updates and STILL no progress. I have problems with every title I have tried to encode ever since BD Rebuilder v 0.34.11. Other titles that won't encode are Iron Man 2, Get him to the Greek and Hero. I have almost 2 TB of free space and I made sure all of the Workfile Folders and Main folder are all on the 2 TB Drive. Any Answers? :)

Precisely, did you test a new version of ffdshow that seems to work fine for you? Some great playback improvement had been made since. By the way, thank you for your last version, HUGE update!

@Crocluvr92

You've posted your issue. Continuing to post over-and-over will only result in your posts being ignored. DON'T POST ANY MORE about this same issue. Review rules 8, 11, and 13. Also, from the first post of this thread:Don't push bug resolution or keep asking for a fix. I will get to the reported bugs, but only when I can find the time.

Uninstall BD-RB, FFDSHOW, AVISYNTH, and HAALI. Remove them completely (delete lingering folders in Program Files). Then reinstall everything -- and ONLY THE VERSIONS FROM THE FIRST POST OF THIS THREAD. Don't get clever and try to "get by with a different version" -- you've already tried editing your logs to deceptively make it appear you were using the right versions, so you've put yourself in the category of "untrustworthy". Also, if you are overclocked, slow down your system and see if it makes it through.

I've done every one of the discs you've mentioned without issue. Further repetitive posts attempting to get more attention to your issue will result in strikes.

The new Filter Editor makes it possible to use any deinterlacing filter that is available under AVISYNTH.

Except that it still encodes as interlaced (it puts --tff in the x264 command line unless you've selected deinterlacing within BD Rebuilder) - costing bitrate efficiency, and it doesn't let you do bob deinterlacing (it tosses AssumeFPS(30000,1001) at the end of the avisynth script) - costing temporal resolution. I'd love to be able to use a fast tempgauss_mc setting, but it's not really workable, atm. BD Rebuilder would have to be signaled two things for this to fully work - 1) Hey, I'm actually feeding you progressive frames! and 2) Hey, I just doubled the framerate!

Either way, awesome software that just keeps getting better. Thanks!

Precisely, did you test a new version of ffdshow that seems to work fine for you? Some great playback improvement had been made since. By the way, thank you for your last version, HUGE update! I try new ones all the time, and almost every time something will create a new issue. It never seems to be consistent. One time it may be MPEG-2, the next time it may be an audio problem. I'd certainly like to use newer releases -- but it has to work across lots of different CODECS for Blu-ray support. All I can say is that if you use one of the two I suggest, directshow support for X264 is solid.

I'm not familiar with tempgauss_mc -- is it just a deinterlacer or does it also change framerate? So what you'd need is a flag of some sort in the filter editor that tells BD-RB to treat the source as progressive after the filtering? If so I'd also have to distinguish between 480i/576i and 1080i when deciding whether the filter is used -- as the BD standard doesn't allow progressive in SD.

Not, but with x264's fake interlaced option, yes. Can encode any progressive SD/HD as interlace while keep video 100% progressive, and only put necessary flags that normally passes bd verification.

check this for detailed instructions and parameters for x264 settings http://sites.google.com/site/x264bluray/home

I have got a question about the presets in the altenate movie-only output box.

Does the the preset MKV Container, 1920x1080, 192Kbs AC3 downmix to ac3 2.0 or does it keep the soround channels?

Thx.

Thanks Mr. Dobbs,
I made the change to FFDSHOW and reran the program, this time I had a good run, pretty fast too, completed in about 90 minutes.
That video encoding is pretty CPU intensive, it's the first time my quad core really broke a sweat!

Anyway, thank you for a great application. I will be sure to contribute financially to support your efforts. Hope you can see it through to a GA version.

I'm doing blu-ray to BD9. In settings I checked the box "do not convert dts to ac3". When BD-RB gets to "Reencoding audio tracks (if req'd)", I get windows message "wavi.exe has stopped working" and BD-RB stops working. When I close the windows message BD-RB starts working again and there are no error messages in the BD-RB log. The build is set to use LPCM only.
What is causing wavi.exe to stop? Is it my settings or something else?

Yeah, I'm talking about 1080i (sorry, I jumped in a quote from a few months back on you long after the context had been lost). It's a very high quality bobbing deinterlacer. (Actually, I use QTGMC (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=156028) as shortcut to specify fast but quite-sufficient quality for HD.) I *can* kinda, sorta get it to work by tossing out every other frame post-bobbing (I want to use it to bob deinterlace and then resize to 720p), so that BD-RB's insertion of assumefps(30000,1001) doesn't throw off duration and sync. Like so:

i:BlackmanResize( 1280, height, taps=5 )
i:QTGMC( Preset="Very Fast", EdiMode="nnedi3" ).SelectEven()
i:BlackmanResize( width, 720, taps=5 )

But I'm dropping half the temporal resolution and x264 is still being given the -tff command, making it encode as if it were interlaced material and losing 8-15% bitrate efficiency.

You're right that HD and SD would additionally need to be distinguished. Like an additional couple of avisynth prefixes, besides the i:, e:, etc. - one for SD and one for HD.

*Or*, an option to specify one's own 1) deinterlacing method and 2) resizing method, quite apart from the avisynth filters section, would seem to cover all the bases? Like, besides just "Resize 1080p to 720p", have a suboption for *how*. And besides "use DECOMB filter on interlaced source", have a suboption for *how*? Perhaps configurable only as a hidden setting?

Anyone can help me You need to post the entire log, not just the parts you want me to see. Posting little pieces always makes me assume there is something you don't want me to see. Use "CODE" to wrap it (the "#" symbol at the top of the reply dialog) so it doesn't fill the page (it becomes scrollable).

Thx. Right now it downmixes to AC3 2.0. I'll probably add the ability to either keep audio intact or downmix to DD 5.1 at 640Kbs or 448Kbs. It just hasn't been a priority.

What is causing wavi.exe to stop? Is it my settings or something else? That just means no DOS style ERRCODE is being returned from the WAVI process. You'll probably end up with a different error later when it tries to rebuild -- either that or the zero length output file will get muxed and your audio will be silent (most likely).

I'd need more information to try and figure out why you're getting the error. The audio .AVS file of the affected M2TS/track would help (AUD_XXXXX_YYYY.AVS, XXXX=M2TS number, YYYY=PID) . It would also be nice to know what disc you're attempting.

One thing to remember is that if you are doing a movie-only to BD-9 and have "strict AVCHD" selected, the DTS audio is going to be reencoded to AC3 (even with "do not convert dts to ac3" selected). "Strict AVCHD" tells BD-RB that you want to stay compliant with the AVCHD standard -- and DTS doesn't exist in that standard. For a better explanation, read that section in the BD-RB FAQ post (it's a sticky in this sub forum).

A little confusion on my part: If you're only keeping LPCM, why are you bringing up the "do not convert DTS" flag? BTW, LPCM is always converted for BD-9... it's too big to keep.

It's a bob deinterlacer, so it doubles the framerate. I was a little slow on the update on that one... I couldn't imagine why you'd double the framerate for a 1080i/480i/576i source. But in a follow-up post I found out that it was also being converted to 720p.
