Well... actually it does have something to do with the problem. If you'd followed the instructions you wouldn't be in that folder and you wouldn't be having that problem.
Also, I just tried browsing from within that folder while choosing the .AC3 file for the menu, and had no issues. Are you sure you have privileges?

I seriously doubt that virtualization is an issue, since XP-64 doesn't have it. IMHO, no user should be forced to not use the default M$ install path. While virtualization is an issue for M$ after my version, users do not have to directly edit the INI file, since you have full editing of the INI file in the program.

I am the only user on my systems, having full admin rights. Never an issue installing files, or access to anything, anywhere on the system.
So, I did some more testing. I copied the blankclip directory, and its contents to the same path you searched. No problem with that path. So, I copied BLANK.AC3 to the BD_Rebuilder and Tools directories. There was no problem when searching those two locations. The path it does not like is: C:\Program Files (x86)\BD_Rebuilder\Tools\blankclip\BLANK.AC3. So, I copied BLANK.AC3 into the dvdauthor directory and that path is not liked either.
Lastly I created a C:\jdobbs\jdobbs path and copied the BD_Rebuilder directory, and its contents into it. Searching that longer path worked.
I have no clue as to why BDRB doesn't like any directory under Tools when the path is C:\Program Files (x86)\BD_Rebuilder\Tools.

When I was on win7 I had no problems with Program Files (x86)
Just tried on my win10 machine and I can navigate to the blank.ac3 file just fine. In fact I moved BD_RB to Program Files (x86) temporarily to test

The value is actually being collected and stored correctly, but, because of it's length it is wrapping to another line that can't be seen in that text window. I'm not sure whether there is anything I can do about that, but I'll try. It's a Microsoft control that I'm just referencing. Interesting, as it has a "Wrap" attribute that I have turned off.
MrVideo
8th March 2017, 03:52
I was thinking that length had something to do with it, but not the length of characters. Why? Because in the menu background result box, the numbers of characters is larger than the available space and the characters to the right are just truncated. No wrapping. Then again, there are no spaces in that line in which the line can be cut to wrap.
I just did a test with the menu background in that I was able to change a "-" to a space and sure enough, it wrapped.
The bug might be with M$ if it has a no-wrap attribute and you have it enabled, but it wraps anyway. If it is still bad with Win10, it has been around for a very long time.
Can you make that dialog box user resizable so that a user can make it wider, allowing for the text to fit and not wrap?

I might have mentioned this a while back, I don't remember, but is it possible to be able to use more characters in the titles of the Quick Play menu? Many times I use it to put the Xtras, and usually the titles of each of the xtras is cut off (looks like about maybe 36 characters total including spaces) Any chance of being able to have longer titles in the Quick Play menu. They currently only take up about 1/2 the length of the screen.
Thanks!

Thanks! The number of allowed characters is variable. It is calculated based upon the font, the graphic width of the text to be displayed, and the size of the screen area dedicated to each title. So there really isn't a way to simply add characters. The actual space allocated to each title is a lot more complicated -- based upon the number of titles and the number of columns needed, and I'm not willing, at the moment, to go through all that again. There are a lot of variables.
What is possible is that I could add a hidden option that reduces the font size by some specified amount. For example, if you set a value of .75, the size of the font would be reduced to 3/4 of the default. It would give you more horizontal space. It may not be exact, since most fonts don't use fixed spacing. But it would make it more controllable. The downside is that when you reduce the font size, both the vertical and horizontal size is affected.

Thanks JD! No, don't sweat it; for stuff like this, I truly do not know what exactly goes into it, so it's good you explain that it is indeed more involved than one may think. If the hidden option is no big deal for you, then sure, that would be interesting to try. In the meantime (like my posts and EVERYTHING else) this will give me an opportunity to refine my 'skills' at succinctness and brevity..
Now, to expand upon this...

I have some MKV H.264 videos that I want to put on a couple of discs. First, I wasn't sure if the H.264 video would play in the Blu-ray player, untouched, so I created a test disc with a single video. When I put the disc into the player, the video was fine, but there wasn't any audio. Going back to the computer, I looked at the M2TS file, and sure enough, no audio. Then I noticed that when the BDRB job finished, it only showed the video file. No explanation as to why BDRB rejected the audio stream.
The audio is E-AC3 5.1. MediaInfo and txMuxer both claim it is 640 kbps, while VideoReDo says it is 1280 kbps. E-AC3 is a legit Blu-ray audio format, so why would BDRB reject it?
I can supply a 30 sec segment of the video for downloading from my server.

Yeah, my OPPO will not play MKV files with E-AC3 audio (Dolby+) I always have to use UsEac3to to covert it to either AC3 or DTS depending on the bit rate. But, I have no idea why BDRB won't process it; I don't think I've ever run a file through it with that codec...

My Samsung will play any audio codec I can throw at it, either via Blu-ray or MKV. But, in this case the Blu-ray player doesn't decode the audio, as it is passed to the amp via HDMI, which will handle all of the DTS and Dolby codecs (only that the core of ATMOS is handled). It will even handle AAC.

BTW, just a quickie (my usual style...) Just out of curiosity, and you know that I am FULL of it (curiosity, that is...) If I take a Blu-ray that is just, say, maybe a couple of Gigs larger than a BD25 and I'm doing a full backup with faster encoding for Xtras (set at CRF-24) Will BDRB simply JUST re-encode the Xtras since that will likely make enough room to leave the movie file untouched, or will it simply process everything equally because it determines that the entire disc is too big?
In other words, will it necessarily re-encode the movie file too, even though after encoding the Xtras there would really be no need for it?
Lathe
9th March 2017, 21:56
Hmmm, I may just now have the answer. I was processing 'FINAL DESTINATION' and the full disc is about 23.6 Gigs, about .3 or .4 Gigs too large to fit on a BD25. BDRB did indeed just re-encode the Xtras and left the movie file untouched. I don't know if it will ALWAYS do that and if that is standard behaviour, but that's what it did in this case.

Therein may lie the answer. It seems that no encoder is creating an AC3 core. Even Amazon isn't adding a core. I personally use ffmpeg and it does not add a core.
How about accepting an E-AC3 stream even if it doesn't have a core and maybe add a little warning to the log file about the AC3 core missing and that may result in no audio.
I know my amp will play it just fine. I do so from my NAS box, using Kodi 17 to my amp via HDMI.

Been using BD rebuilder for years, only just realized that you can use it to also covert to DVD :) The only thing I would like to see is some sort of quality meter in %. So you can see how its going to fit onto BD25.
Can you donate through Paypal also ?

It's not unusual that a DVD created from the BD source by BD-RB looks better than the original DVD from the shop.
No, you can't donate via Paypal anymore. It's their insane decision. But you can always donate by means of the amazon gift card.

ggtopI found it and fixed it for the next release. It wasn't checking for the use of SupTitle as it should. It was switching to X264L, I'm guessing, because of its preference with an ATCDelta flag. I'd forgotten that happens. It was the only way I could find where it is used when DirectshowSource is selected.

Hello dear BD-Rebuilder Users!
Must admit I'm new to BD-Rebuilder. I have backed just 2 BD's with BD-R till yet and with my third attempt I ran into problems. :(
Have tried to backup the Doctor Strange 2D+3D BD's but with half success.
2D without any problems, BD-R has made great job but with the 3D version the software has some issues.
This is the error message that I'm get:

I did Doctor Strange 3D and had no problems. I was wondering how you were processing the original disk. Did you try to process it from the blue ray disk itself in real time? I all ways create an image on the hardrive and then use Virtual Clone Drive to open it. Sometime the disk errors out because of all the seeking and decryption taking place. Or at least that's what I think happens, especially if you have an older machine doing the processing. Either that or a bad disk, rip or even a failing drive. Good luck sirig.

Hi all,
I experienced an issue with one of my BDs. It's Tango & Cash encoded with VC-1. My MP4 encode suffered from audio out of sync. After some investigation I noticed a glitch at around 6:00 into the movie which makes the AVS file (and the result) playback at double speed for around 20 sec (with DirectShow). I decided to use another frameserver so I bought a license for DGDecNV (didn't think about FRIM) and the problems were gone. As I don't have a NVIDIA Card on my main machine I wondered if I can also use DGDecIM there. I searched the whole thread, did find something about some hidden options like
DGDECIM_SW_DECODE
[PATH]
DGIndexIM=...DGIndexIM.exe
DGDecIM=...DGDecodeIM.dll
but they do not seem to work. Is DecIM (still) supported or shall I use FRIM Decoding in SW mode?

ggtopIt should still be supported -- but it's more-or-less undocumented. You'd need to add DGDECIM=1 to your INI as well.

Maybe you could add this info to hiddenopts.
Do you and of course all others reading this have any experience if DecIM should be avoided in HW mode? I saw my framerates jumping from 80 to 120 fps, but I don't want to risk bad decoding...

Here's a strange bug, which does not affect the result...
I just did a build which contained four 42 min episodes (H.264) and 16 ~5 min special features (MPEG-2). When it was done with the menu building, it only showed one stream (VID_00002), which is one of the four episodes. The total length was 42:48, which is way off the mark, but right for the only stream listed.

Nope, "Full Backup," even though I stop at the point right after the menus are created. I then burn the disc at that point. Nothing exciting in the log. The job runs as expected and produces the expected results.
I just started BDRB again and low and behold, all of the streams are now listed from the last run.
Like I said, something strange going on.

Yes, I got the sample. No, I haven't worked on it yet.
I look forward to your results, as I have a boatload more files that have DD+ audio.

When setting up your customized menus, have you ever run into the issue as to what values to use for the X/Y placement of the text? Needless to say, I have. So, I created some grids on 100 pixel spacing. One with white lines and one with black lines. Both include text to indicate the X/Y location and both are on transparent backgrounds. The ZIP file (http://vidiot.com/HD-grid-templates.zip) contains both AI (Adobe Illustrator) and PNG versions of both grids. The AI version can be loaded by Adobe Illustrator or PhotoShop. Or you can use your favorite image editor that supports layers. You can easily make your menu background image and overlay it with one of the grids. You can then save the necessary JPG file. You can then burn a test disc on BD-RE media. Once you have the layout you want, you can save a new JPG file without the grid.
Enjoy.

Is there a way to specify a menu background video? BD Rebuilder ini has the parameter: MENU_BACKGROUND=
I don't understand why this is limited to an image file, since BD Rebuilder can (and does, sometimes) find and use an original background video when creating the Quick Play menu.
I'm trying to use BDedit to "fix" the 00002.mpls and associated 99001.clpi BMDV folder support files... but not quite getting there. Could really use a bump in the right direction. ;)
