Yes I do own the disc. Did not realize about processed sources tho. Sorry to take up your time jdobbs. Appreciate the replies. Just thought I'd expand on the issue you reported so you didn't think I'm ignoring a bug.
The problem is that on a DVD, since the IFO parameters take precedence, sometimes the stream is encoded with the wrong A/R -- but it doesn't show in playback. I've seen a few commercial discs that say "4:3" in the sequence header of the stream itself, but are played at 16:9 just because the IFO overrides it. I think it is because some cheaper authoring packages didn't support 16:9 and wouldn't import it, so the authors just lied to it by encoding a 16:9 source at 4:3, and then patched the IFO after-the-fact to get around it. I remember having doing that myself a time or two with "SpruceUp".
What I think is happening in your case is that TSMUXER doesn't look at the IFO, it only looks at the stream. So when it sees "4:3" in the sequence header, it assumes it is correct (and it normally should be) and puts it in the CLPI. But in the instances where the IFO disagrees, TSMUXER (or multiAVCHD) doesn't see it -- and the end-product from BD-RB is encoded at the wrong A/R.

Here's one for ya jdobbs. For no apparant reason at all, x264 keeps crashing at VID_00033. I have NO codec packs installed, and i do mean NO codec packs, except for the listed ffdshow version if you can call it a codec pack and vlc player. If i double click a VC-1 stream i get audio but no video due to lacking the codec. Here's all you need probably.

Also the audio detection needs some work. One audio stream thats is dutch (belgium) does not get selected with the dut and nld streams selected. I need to select "undertermined" aswell to get it encoded. Just for the trying i also did an encode without the "undetermined" before that one. x264 crashed too. Got plenty of disc space left aswell (418GB)

Try uninstalling VLC Player. Since attempts to playback VC-1 directly is also failing, it's likely that something has inserted itself into the normal flow of the CODEC and isn't working.

For a moment there I thought the "short PCM to AC3" encoding error was gone, but no. Tried to fit Wallace & Gromit The Complete Collection (24.00 fps) on a BD25 and second to last VID stopped at the "ReencodeAudio() 00075 1801" error. I restarted the job and let it resume, but the offending audio tracks were skipped.

Despite the slightly different length, I think I might be able to finish the job by making a copy of the two untouched AC3 files and renaming them to 00043.track_4353.ac3 and 00043.track_4354.ac3, then restarting the job. Right?

nupe, failed too. Uninstalled MPCplayer as that one also had ffdshow installed but i always reinstall the listed one on an mpcplayer update. No help either
running a simultaneous encode now. One with auto settings, one with 37.01 and default high quality. I'll see how that turns out. Don't have my hopes up either. Tried to re-rip the original too without success in encoding. The only onther i can think of is bsplayer but that one never posed a problem before and always tell it to skip when it asks for codec update on updating the bsplayer version. The weird thing is that i encoded HP6 just fine the day before and that one also uses VC-1 however all frames were p and not i, nor * or **
If both simultaneous encodes fail ill run em again without IVTC selected (though i havent seen an IVTC message yet)
** edit ** both versions and runs failed.
included an image highlighting the problematic stream

Is it possible with BD_RB v0.37.01 to choose more then 1 audio track for the alternate mkv output?
No. All that changed is that you can now keep HD audio. But multiple audio selections might be in the next release.
i didnt see this in the new release? will this still maybe implemented into the next one? i would really like at least 2languages in the mkv alternate output.

jdobbs did say it MIGHT be in the next release, there were no exact statements it actually WOULD be. Patience is a virtue

i didnt see this in the new release? will this still maybe implemented into the next one? i would really like at least 2languages in the mkv alternate output. It all depends on priorities. Bugs are my first priority, and then I try to implement features as I get the time. My number 1 priority right now (after serious bugs) is IGS and DTS-Express support.

Where's the rest of the logfile
Again, sorry to play devil's advocate, but we (as beta testers) need a list of the log files jdobbs would have us post (and, if necessary, how to post them, as attachments or code text?); I think this would really help speed things up and nip the "Why won't you post your log files?!" posts in the bud. Over 550 pages of bug reports, and not many people would stick to reading every page, in order to glean this knowledge...
Just sayin'. :) :logfile:

Hi!- Pes packet len too large ( >100Mb). Bad stream"If you had done a search of this thread, you'd have seen that "jdobbs" (The author of BD Rebuilder) has stated that this is an error generated from within tsMuxeR - and could only be due to a bad rip.
In light of the fact that this is your first post, I'll ask you (To possibly save jdobbs some time):
Is your source material an original, commercial Blu-ray disc, or is it something else?

Wow, it's really back up and running! I must have clicked on Doom9 about a hundred times over the past few days and was beginning to think it was down for good. I tried to do one of my first BD25's and long story short, I ended up with an oversize twice. I did "How the West was Won", movie only, keeping the TrueHD english track and 3 subs. The movie runs about 164 minutes and my thinking was it was too big to compress down to BD9. The first attempt with a custom size of 24,600 mb ended up over about 500 mb. Next I tried the default of 24,500 mb and still was over just slightly and was able to get rid of the two spanish subs to get it down enough to fit. The first time it happened I tried all sorts of solutions to trim the m2ts, the movie starts with 4.40 minute musical overture that I could have lived without but I soon found out that triming a .m2ts with HD audio is really tricky. Everything I tried either converted to AC3 or completely garbled the sound. Oh well, it was a great learning experience. When I'm keeping HD audio on a 2 plus hour movie I will set a custom size of 24450 and perhaps it will fit.
@ jdobbs, thanks for the email, I knew Doom9 forum was down but it was nice knowing I could get the beta download in case BD_Rebuilder timed out.

@worknstiff;
the default size for BD-25 is 23500 MB.
Perhaps try the BD-25 preset, and my guess is you will not be disappointed. :)

@Capsbackup, Quote: the default size for BD-25 is 23500 MB
Oops!, I don't know where I came up with my 24500, lol. I am amazed it was only oversized by 500 mb when I ran it the first time. It got close enough that cutting the prelude by 4.40 made it fit, but audio was trashed after triming it with tsMuxeR. I have only tried a couple of BD25's so I guess a few mistakes are going to happen. Thanks for the heads up.

FYI - In general most disc read errors occur near the outer edge. In life, try to stay away from the hairy edge and come in a few steps and everything will be fine.

Has anyone tried making a backup of "The A-Team" ? It seems to fail at the very beginning at 14% doing movie only. I've checked to see if turning off the subtitles would resolve it and it still errors out to TSMUXER. Inspection was ok. Any help jdobb or anyone else would be appreciated.

If you are overclocked... that's probably it. It could also be a ripping issue. I used AnyDVD for the rip.

I'll try a re-rip now. I'm not overclocked and I to use AnyDVD (6.7.8.0).

- [15:23:07] Extracting A/V streams [VID_00364]
- Error in attempt to extract audio/subs.
- Not enought buffer for parse video stream. Current frame num 29731 BD Rebuilder only sees 26,485 frames in the source, but TSMUXER failed on frame 29,731... where did those other 3000 frames come from?
Is this a rip from an original disc?

@jdobbs
I just did a full disc conversion of "Centurion" to BD9, using "Good" (Very fast) and "One-pass (CRF) settings - audio encoding options were left untouched, so that BD-RB performed a downconversion of the audio to 5.1AC3 640kbps.
While the original 7.1 DTS(MA) audio had (per tsMuxeR) an audio delay of 18,393ms, this delay disappeared somewhere in the downconversion, so that the playback was grossly (18+ seconds) out of synch.
The proof in the pudding was that using tsMuxeR to add a delay of 18,393ms to the primary audio of the main compressed .M2TS file eliminated the problem.
The reason for the original delay appears to be due to an initial rather mysterious SILENT 18 second static display regarding "Technicolor Services" and details of the video and audio formats.
Reminiscent, if I remember correctly, of the structure of, "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo". Back in September, in your post #9531, you stated: I fixed the out-of-sync audio issue related to "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and the other similar discs. It'll be included in the next release.
But the "Tatoo" problem only affected the "movie-only" version, so perhaps this is something different...

My primary use of BD Rebuilder is to reduce the size of Blu-Ray disks in order to conserve disk space on my media player, a Popcorn Hour A210 with an internal hard drive.
Here is the problem that I'm encountering: A folder rip or ISO clone of an original Blu-ray plays perfectly on my media player, but there is something about the structure of a rebuilt Blu-ray that prevents the media player from playing it. More strangely, the rebuilt folders can be played by the media player across an SMB file share from my Windows 7 PC!
I realise that this is more likely to be a bug in the media player firmware than DB Rebuilder and I will report it as such on the apporpriate forum, but any theories would be appreciated.

I have updated the first post of this thread with the newest release of BD Rebuilder (v0.37.04). Changes for this release:- Added a new option in the ALTERNATE output
selections. You can now choose a target size
in addition to CRF or bitrate.
- Made some minor improvements in the way IVTC
is handled that can improve picture quality.
- Added a hidden option "DEINTERLACER_TYPE" that
will allow you to set the type of deinterlace
algorithm to use (when selected from SETUP).
The settings are: 1=Decomb w/o blend,
2=Decomb w/blend, 3=SmoothDeinterlace, and
4=Progressive. The last option (4) should be
used when the source is progressive -- but it
needs "fake-interlaced" to be asserted during
encode.
- Added a new hidden option "EXTENDED_GOP".
Setting this value to "1" will instruct BD-RB
to use a 48 frame GOP size when writing to
BD-5 OR BD-9.
- Inserted temporary code to prevent streams that
contain IGS from being processed. Since these
are normally menus and by nature are small,
they will be kept intact. This should prevent
the rare "Menu without buttons" issue until
IGS reintegration routines are completed.
- Changed setting for "Use X264 Internal LAVF" to
"on" as the default.
- Corrected an error in which using BATCH mode
can sometimes incorrectly set the audio and
subtitle selections.
- Corrected a bug in which under very rare and
specific circumstances LAVF could be selected
even though IVTC is in effect.
- Corrected an error in the ALTERNATE OUTPUT
dialog that could cause checkboxes to be set
at the same time.
- Corrected a problem in which some VC-1 sources
might be incorrectly IVTC'd.
- Updated the included version of X264.EXE to the
latest release (r1990).
- Updated the included version of X264-64.EXE to
the latest release (r1884).
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

Re: v.37.04
What is the effect/benefit of this option? It was a request. If going to BD-5/9 you will probably squeeze out a little more quality at the same bitrate because you're using more P & B frames and fewer I frames.
I'm using it for all my BD-5/9 backups now. It's one of those things that's only allowed on Blu-ray if the maximum bitrate is below 15Mbs (as in BD-5/9).

Look at the three posts starting here. (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1400294#post1400294) I'd say the only thing I'd disagree on is whether a longer GOP will help pulsing to any appreciable degree. I think it would probably slow it down (from 1 second to 2), but ipratio and pbratio are a better fix for pulsing. In fact the reason BD-RB uses 1.1 on each rather that the defaults of 1.4 and 1.3 (ipratio/pbratio) is in response to early reports of pulsing at low bitrates. As shon3i suggested in our previous discussion on pulsing, selecting open GOPs will probably help as well.

If you had done a search of this thread, you'd have seen that "jdobbs" (The author of BD Rebuilder) has stated that this is an error generated from within tsMuxeR - and could only be due to a bad rip.
Is your source material an original, commercial Blu-ray disc, or is it something else?"

Wow, thanks for trying to help. I get so ignored on sites (like afterdawn) looking for help usually that I am surprised I got a couple responses.
Both the eat pray love, avatar and dinner for schmucks were original blu-rays that I got from Netflix. I doubt it matters, but that is where they are from. I tried eat like 8 times, avatar like 5 times and dinner 3 times.
I paid close attention, I get through 100% encoding, but as soon as it gets to re-encoding it fails. Why is this?
I did research that error message and many many threads and I found one post where a guy said his menu file or something was too big (greater thatn 100 mb) and when he unchecked that for recording it worked. I am guessing it could be that picture moving around in the menu. It seems it only records one big file or something, and if there is another greater than 100 mb it gets an erro. But I can't find anywhere where you can pick and choose what files to copy like on CloneDVD. If I could stop trying to record that file that is greater than 100 mb, it might work.
What is "tsMuxeR?" I don't have this program downloaded and its not in the instructions.
Maybe my bad for not posting the whole giant log, I just know it said everything was OK up until re-encoding.
Thanks a lot again. Sorry for the delay.

Sorry for the delay.I've done all the movies you mentioned -- and didn't get that error. So it's related to some setting you've made or something unique to your setup.
As was mentioned -- that error is almost always the result of a bad rip. Are you using AnyDVD? That's the only truly reliable decryption/ripping package out there (in my humble opinion).
TSMUXER is a 3rd party multiplexer used to demultiplex the streams from the original M2TS files and to create the new M2TS files after reencoding. It is included in the BD Rebuilder zip files and is in the TOOLS folder.

@jdobbs
Thank you for the explanation regarding "EXTENDED_GOP" ;>}

@jdobbs;
Regarding:
- Inserted temporary code to prevent streams that
contain IGS from being processed. Since these
are normally menus and by nature are small,
they will be kept intact. This should prevent
the rare "Menu without buttons" issue until
IGS reintegration routines are completed.
I have tested my source Blu-ray that has IGS menus with this latest version, BD Rebuilder v0.37.04 (beta), and though it does skip reencoding the IGS menu files and does copy them as is, if the selected output is BD5/9, the finished backup has audio skipping issues while on the menu pages on my S360. :( The movie plays back fine though! I presume this is because of to high a bitrate for DVD media.
However, when I burn that same backup to BD-RE media, it plays back perfectly. :)

@jdobss: ya probably misread there. Caps is stating that using the new method BD25 works fine, its the BD5/9 that has the audio offsync

@jdobss: ya probably misread there. Caps is stating that using the new method BD25 works fine, its the BD5/9 that has the audio offsync Yeah... but the skipping etc. is caused by the fact that the bitrate is too high for BD-5/9. In previous versions they were forced to be reencoded for that reason. I failed to consider that there could be an issue with BD-5/9 when you keep a stream intact.

- Added a new hidden option "EXTENDED_GOP".
Setting this value to "1" will instruct BD-RB
to use a 48 frame GOP size when writing to
BD-5 OR BD-9.
Does this mean I can safely leave it on and not think much about it later?

Not a problem, but maybe just change your update/changes log info to reflect "only for BD-25 backups" at this time! :p

//LDYes. It will only be used for BD-5/9. It may become the default in the future.

Based on the fact that you've reponded to all subsequent reports, I'm guessing that my post #11180 "fell down a crack" and eluded what has to be your very tired eyes ;>}

Please don't do this.
I am testing for a custom size larger than DVD-9 (11000 to be exact). If it works for that, I'll be a happy camper. Besides my menus are not motion, so I don't anticipate any problems of that nature. I'll know in a few hours and will post the results.
Just for the record, I don't use DVD-9 size much any more because I no longer trust double layer DVD media. I have opted for 110000 for most of my rebuilds because it still gives me pretty good PQ and allows enough room to retain the HD audio (which BD-RB apparently allows for anything larger than [BD-9] - thanks for that, by the way - I wish it were optional for any size).
