Hello, i have just encoded a 43gb film to fit target size BD-25, the output file size that BD-Rebuilder created is 22.7gb, is this small enough to fit on the BD-25 disc because when i tried to burn it useing Imageburn it said not enough space on disc. I continued to burn (useing Verbatim BD-RE) and it got to 98% and expectedly failed, i then tried an LG BD-RE and that got to 99%. Are my discs at fault or output file size. Thanks

i've tried encoding of transporter 3.
Everything works fine, except the audio.
i've used the tsmuxxer version which was provided with bd rebuilder to make a movie only copy without reencoding. in this case i've got the dts-hd audio.
Using bdrebuilder it doesn't work.
I'am only getting dxolby digital 5.1 output.
Please note, the audio is calles DTS-HD XLL. I've tried another bd, where the audio was called dts-hd, there the hd data was kept.
You have to be careful with Transporter 3, DTS-HD XLL isn't the default audio track on this film, it is LPCM 2.0 which BD Rebuilder doesn't fully support yet, i did a full back up to BD 25, and couldn't keep HD Audio because of the LPCM, so i chose not to keep HD Audio, and to Not re-encode DTS to ac3, this left me with a 1536kbps 5.1 DTS file, which is still pretty good.
You may need to re-check your audio settings.

Sex Drive Region B doesn't work in full back up to BD25 using the latest BD Rebuilder... on the menus the overlay buttons don't appear, so you can't select anything, either on Stand alone or power DVD, i have chose to keep all subtitles, and have not limited to one per language. The rip Burned to a BD-50 works fine, is this a java problem?

You need to re-format your BD-RE to use the maximum space on the disk, i had this problem too, there is a tutorial somewhere else in the DVD rebuilder forum (can't remember the name of the post)

yes it does just press stop when you get to the menu, then press play and it works with the menu popping up in the bottom left hand corner works on panasonic bd35 ps3 and samsung bdp 1500 like that

Already tried this and just tried again to make sure, on my Panny BD-30, press stop once when on menu loop, then press play and the menu loop continues, but no pop up menu appears, or can be called, tried on the R rated selection and the unrated selection, to no avail.. as mentioned also tried on Power DVD too.

not sure why its not working then on yours, what version of anydvd hd are you using cos i had lots of trouble and had to update it to 6.5.4.9 then used bdrb full movie with hd audio and avchd compliance, also didnt tick quicker encode for extras

Why would you use AVCHD compliance for a full disk back up?
I thought AVCHD was for movie only back up.
p.s. isn't a ANYDVD HD Prob (although it was ripped using 6.5.4.9) coz like i said BD-50 burn plays perfectly.
p.p.s. I never use quicker encode for extras.

I'm new to this forum thus this is my first post so please forgive me if I make a mistake.
First of all thank you for developing this software as well as your personal time and effort. Great work!
I didn't find any instructions so far if there is a preferred way to post/report bugs so I'll attempt to do so here.
There are a few blu-ray titles which I have tested with previous beta releases as well as the current one 0.20.90 which seem to fail in and around the same place when attempting both Full Backup or Movie-Only Backup.
These titles include:
1. Body Of Lies (2008)
2. JFK (1991) {Director's Cut}
These movies were ripped to hard disk drive using AnyDVD HD 6.5.4.9.

...More strange "Playlist" nonsense...
My backup of "From Russia With Love" contains 494 files...
Original contains 519 files...
Why is the latest BDRB not copying over correctly the files in the "\BDMV\BACKUP\PLAYLIST" (where the difference in files is - and ONLY here.)
This is the 2nd disc out of 2 discs where there has been this discrepancy. The other being "300" where there I think was only 1 less file...
Are these files needed?
Is this normal?
ta, :)

Re tried Alien Vs Predator last night with the new version. I had problems before witht his title as quoted below.
2) Alien VS Predator - Freezes at chapter 13 this is right after the guy falls to the bottom of the ice shaft and the 2 aliens walk by ..... video and audio though the Audio plays on for a few seconds longer. To shut the movie off you have to unplug the Stand alone player. ..... Sony BDP S350
Now with Alien Vs Predator I can skip this part and the movie will play through without any more problems. I have encoded this one a couple times and burnt a couple time as well with 0.20.05, .07 and .08
tried 3 different rips result Encode failed at the same point All were full backup to BD 25:

Already tried this and just tried again to make sure, on my Panny BD-30, press stop once when on menu loop, then press play and the menu loop continues, but no pop up menu appears, or can be called, tried on the R rated selection and the unrated selection, to no avail.. as mentioned also tried on Power DVD too.
hiya again damacfunkin ive just tried it again and now if you select which version of sex drive you want to see click stop then top menu the gui will pop up tried it on panasonic bd35 in living room and its working

leChameleon & bassnut: I can tell from experience that x264.exe is quite a fickle little program, and requires very stable PC hardware. It's practically like running Prime95 for 12 hours to see how well your hardware holds up. I fooled around with overclocking my Core i7 920 last weekend and while Windows appeared stable, I started getting "Encode failed. Retrying." and "Reached retry limit. Aborting." errors. Those went away once I restored BIOS settings to defaults.
Also, leChameleon, are you sure the problem is not with Windows 7 compatibility? Just a guess, nothing more.

x264 encoder crashes are not really a BD-RB bug, it's usually a decoder issue but encrypted source could also do it.
leChameleon: It seems you don't have a VC-1 decoder installed, try installing WMP11 and try again
bassnut: see if 00060.m2ts is VC-1 interlaced, if it is try this (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=146924)

@ turbojetThanks for the imput turbojet will check it out ....... The funny thing with this movie is, I had burnt it before though it did freez on me in chapter 13 but I could skip this section and play the movie right through to finish. So I am leaning towards something that has changed since my last build which could only be ..... AnyDVD and I installed Total Media Theater 3.
@ colinhunt ..... When I started with BD Rebuilder I found that 24 - 28 hours for a recode was a bit long for me to tie up my couputer so I did a bit of an upgrade my encode times are now down to 8 - 12 hours depending on the title.
Curently running:
Vista 64 Ultimate, Asus M378 VM with AMD Phenom II 940 Quad, 8 Gig DDr2 PC6400 and an Asus EAH4850. My only bottle neck is the BD Burner which is a Lite-on LH-2B1S which is only a 2X burner. An upgrade may be in the works but this one works fine for now.
This is a complete fresh build less than a month old which I have not tried to overclock in anyway. When I am doing a BD That is all the computer is doing. I am 70% through another recode and will see what happens in about 2 or 3 hours. If it fails again I will dig a bit geaper ito your suggestion as well as turbojets.
Thanks for the time.

It's really easy to get miffed when a reencode fails because of the shear time involved in completing it. For that reason I have one rig a Q9550@7.4 Ghz dedicated to that purpose, another rig a Q9650@3.94 GHz which I use for many purposes, and 3 fast dual core systems for backup. I don't know how many rigs jdobbs has to test with. One has to consider that if it takes us such a long time to complete a reencode that it will probably also take jdobbs a long time. Now imagine if you are given titles of movies that failed and then have to try them yourself, make some corrections, and then retest them again and again. Now how long would that take? This isn't going to move along like it did with DVD RB simply because of the time involved in moving forward, but if were all patient I suspect that jdobbs will see thing improve over time.:thanks:

Not using the 0.20.90 release but with previous releases I used Windows XP Pro SP3 (32-bit) and ran into the same sort of issues. I switched to Windows 7 (64-bit) to speed up my testing from 3 days to 4.2 hours. I'm not certain where the problem resides, if it is the OS, 3rd party or BD-Rebuilder.
The new Windows 7 machine is stock, not overclocked in my case.

From our testing many other applications for commercial production use (not associated with this) we've found that Windows 7 is more stable with 99% of all applications tested. Again this just our personal benchmarking.
In reading the 1st page there is no indication as to which OS is designed, tested and compatible with each version. I don't see this in the README.txt file or other files included/packaged with the release.

Guys,
I have backed up several movies to BD-9 and played them on my Panasonic DMP-BD30 without problem.
However, Quantium of Solace will not play, but it will play on a Sony set top Bluray player.
Also if I burn the same BD-9 file set to a BD-25 it plays just fine in the panasonic.
Any ideas ? or is this some sort of a bug.

It's a known issue since 28.05. Until jdobbs fixes it all I can suggest is replacing tools/tsmuxer.exe with the one from tsmuxer 1.10.6 and enable strict AVCHD in BD-RB settings.
To fix your current output you can load the index.bdmv file in goBD (http://212.36.7.36/sub/new/goBD-tool.exe), check set INDX 00100 and ADD ID-EX then reburn.

As I am working with production machines I need to be careful and log which modifications I make to the environment and why.

What you are doing is changing the DVD decoder to ffdshow (if 64 bit ffdshow64 in 64 bit players).
Only use the hack7mc link to take permission of
(32bit) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectShow\Preferred or in
(64bit) HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\DirectShow\Preferred
Then continue on to step 2 of Atak_Snajpera which is right click the preferred folder -> export to backup, right click the folder again and delete.
Then on to step 3 of his post.
It does work on Win7 64 and doesn't seem to affect WMP12/MCE. Some good news is I was able to fully encode a few VC-1 clips I have that crashed x264 with Vista/XP WMP11. Bad news is it didn't decode them properly and broke up into a bunch of pixels.

I first tried only to update 2 registry keys as I'm working on a production machine. I have not yet finished analyzing what the ramifications are for deleting the "Preferred" folder and all of its contents. I need to ensure it will not affect anything to do with ensuring a failure. I wrote a PM to Atak_Snajpera asking if he knew more about what he's asked to delete. In the mean time I'm reviewing each one trying to cross reference what's going on.
To confirm what you are saying, if the "Preferred" keys are backed up then deleted BD-Rebuilder 0.20.09 will complete these "VC-1" BD DVD rips?
I do want to thank you for finding this workaround and pointing me to it. :thanks:

Hi,
Not sure if its a bug with BD-RB or something else (x264?). I've been backing up my blu-rays (all movie-only) to BD-25, and after some experimentation when first using the program discovered that a custom target size of 24166mb (23.6gb) will consistently fill 98% of the disc (consistentlly as in 100% of the time).
However my last couple of encodes have been massively undersized, The Bourne Supremacy came out at 21.1gb, which only fills 91% of the disc, and Interview With The Vampire came out even less, only filling 90% of the disc!
Thinking it may be a problem with the latest version, I rolled back to v0.20.05 and did them again - with the exact same results.
Anyone have any ideas why all of a sudden I've got such a big undersize? Nothing has changed on my system.

Anyone have any ideas why all of a sudden I've got such a big undersize? Nothing has changed on my system.
Perhaps encoder saturation. This does not appear to be a very long movie [01:48:31.505], so unless there is a lot of extras to fill out the disc, it undersizes. More important, how does the encode look? Filling up the disc does not mean better quality.

Ok turbojet I had a chance to read the info from your threads you sent me ...... VID_00060 is MPEG2 not VC1.
http://209.91.177.82/Images/Pred1.jpg
I tried setting MIN_M2TS_SIZE=400 but since VID_00060 is part of a bigger set BD Rebuilde Ignores this setting if my reading is correct and I understand it completely.
Still not sure why it worked last time but not this time. This was the very first BD I tried to back up to BD 25 and can't remember the settings I used ...... pan07 might be right I might have used quicker encode for extras.
Ran the disk through BDINFO but didn't see anything that stood out, but then I don't really quite understand it all yet.

turbojet was correct in my case with "VC-1" video on Windows 7 64-bit.
I hope sometime in the future not to have to delete registry keys but for now there have been no ramifications and our production continues without interruption.
I've not yet had the chance to view the quality of the video using wmv9 however 4 of the films that were failing have successfully run through using BD-Rebuilder 0.20.09. :)

This isn't the only set of issues to accompany the latest revision of Windows 7. I'm sure Microsoft has some cleanup to do before going with its official release. Hopefully the wide release of the beta will provide them adequate feedback to get a good initial release to the streets this summer...or whenever it comes. I'd rather see them get it right, than on time.

bassnut: with latest ffdshow tryouts from today installed go to video decoder settings, codec page, for MPEG2 set libavcodec. If it still doesn't work can you upload 00060.m2ts to a site like mediafire (http://www.mediafire.com/) and share the download link.
leChameleon: your welcome I just remembered Atak_Snapjera's post which I think will be widely used info in the future.
GaPony: in my hour or so with windows 7 I was able to make WMP12 crash 3 times, definitely some work still needs to be done. While I could probably reproduce the problem, reporting bug reports to microsoft has proven impossible to me so far and I've given up.

Before re-encoding I always use tsMuxer to mux out just the movie with the main audio track to see if it will fit on a BD-R without re-encoding - in the case of The Bourne Supremacy it came out at over 25gb and needed to be re-encoded.
I did another test last night on an episode of Terminator : The Sarah Connor Chronicles. The episode is 6.5gb. I used a custom size of 5.7gb (I have already successfully re-encoded this episode previously to this exact target size). The encode came out undersized at 4.6gb. I just can't understand why this has suddenly started happening.

Well just as I read your post turbojet I looked over on the other computer as Alien Vs Predator completed. Quicker Encode For Extras ........ worked, it's burning now, not sure why though. I will download the new FFDshow later when I get home from work at 1X burn it won't be done before I leave and update everything then and see if it all worked.
When I read Pan07's comments it reminded me of the 3 coasters I had when I first burnt this movie ....... didn't take me long to go out and buy a few BD RE's for testing first after that. :p Up here the olny option is the big box stores for media and there, BD R's are $9 per pop. Unless they are on sale as they are now ...... reminds me I gotta go to best buy tonight.
I can order online but duty here kills the savings though Tiger Direct has Optical Quantum disks at $148 / 25. Anyone evere heard of them? They are supposed to tag out as Ritek which is what I am using now but they don't have samples to buy and a no return policy which amkes me hesitant.

I've burnt around a 1000 BD-R discs mostly at friends houses until recently and never had a problem with any brand other than the odd 1\20 coaster which is to be expected. (burning at 4x)
Personally I don't believe you can go wrong with ANY brand at the moment because the price point hasn't reached such a low level that manufacturers are cutting corners in quality as well as there only being about 3? manufactuers Matsushita\Ritek...who else?
Maybe the problem lies somewhere else, like where you're storing them\sunlight\?...

I used a custom size of 5.7gb (I have already successfully re-encoded this episode previously to this exact target size). The encode came out undersized at 4.6gb. I just can't understand why this has suddenly started happening.
I do the same thing as you do. And I have written about this problem here. BD RB has always been inconsistent with output size. I never get the same size. Most of the time it is undersized (I get around 94% of BD25 space) and one time the output size was too big to fit on a BD25! So I guess you were juts lucky for some time to get your reencodes' sizes right. Now welcome to reality.
