No BSOD on 44.09 here, but temps slightly higher because of warm weather. Perhaps its time to take the dust bunnies for a walk outside. :DYeah, I often monitor my temps when running jobs -- and I'm seeing them higher since spring began. I also had to go in and do some dust cleanup on my radiator not too long ago. I start to get these "crash" reports every year about this time.

Hi Jdobbs first of all many many thanks for the time invested in this software, in the last months i didn't do BD rebuilds because i don't have blank media...
sorry for the off-topic, but here is the only topic where someone can post an answer to my question, i bought on ebay a 50 pack of sony blanks BD, so here is the question? whats means this statement: "Capacity: 25GB / Speed: 1-4X Made for VIDEO and 3D works", someone already developed a software to burn BD-R 3D on 25 gb blanks? or is this related to use with standalone recorders?
Hope someone have a clue about this, again sorry for the off-topic.

@had-z
No idea. There is no physical difference between discs that hold data, video, or 3D. Sounds like marketing hype to me.

Well, my BSODs are not caused by overheating, of that I'm 100% certain by monitoring mobo and CPU temps during encoding. But I'm certainly willing to blame damaged hardware.

I had an encoding orgy last night, sparked by learning of ENCODE_QUALITY=4. (Better late than never, right?) Ran three full backups at the highest quality and was surprised to see that even the slowest setting isn't really slow: all three rigs managed 10+ fps in pass two.
One of the three encodes turned out a bit odd. Here's the log:

The odd bit is that output is way undersized. While the other two encodes came within 500MB of a full BD-R, this one came out at 16GB (17 215 345 624 bytes) only. I'm aware this might have something to do with using a custom target size and it's therefore my own fault... but all three encodes were set for the same 24450MB target, and the other two came out perfect. I just don't see the logic behind these results.

I get this error: ERROR in attempt to mux (MP4BOX). Run inspect and everything's ok. Target size was 650 MB.
I also get this message: MP4Box doesn't work anymore.

Hmm. My encoding rig has started to throw up BSODs after 0.44.09 was released. Nobody else has reported such issues on this thread, so I guess the rig got a bit damaged a while back when its PSU literally exploded. It runs fine on low CPU usage but doesn't like BD-RB anymore :/
Exploded? Literally? as in parts and pieces flew everywhere? Yeah, I'd be worried about other pieces getting damaged.
What did you replace the PSU that exploded with? i.e. what brand/wattage? I'm asking because there is a possibility that the new PSU isn't as strong or efficient as the one that was replaced. Maybe the load of video encoding is stressing the new PSU too much?
I know being heat related was suggested. Here in Chester County, PA (just west of Philly), we went from highs mostly in the upper 60's to low 70's (NO AC running), to the upper 80's and 90 the past few days. So if your AC wasn't running and keeping the house down to the same temps, over heating is a possibility.

Unfortunately I don't speak German (Dutch maybe?). Anyway, can you translate what the MP4BOX error message says?
Ch3vr0n
31st May 2013, 14:53
That's not german it's dutch. It sais the following
MP4Box no longer working
A problem has occurred that cause MP4Box to stop functioning correctly. The program will be closed and a notification will be shown when a solution becomes available.
That's all it sais.

Exploded? Literally? as in parts and pieces flew everywhere?
A huge bang, a flash of light and I discovered metallic debris inside and outside the PSU. I can still smell the nasty stench whenever I walk past the rig. So yeah, one could say it exploded :) It also wrecked a UPS unit and blew a fuse in the board where all the house's fuses are installed. I don't actually know what that thing is called in English..
What did you replace the PSU that exploded with?
One that is 200 watts more powerful, way more expensive and a much, much better brand.
So if your AC wasn't running and keeping the house down to the same temps, over heating is a possibility.
The rig is running 20 degrees cooler now than it did when BSODs were not a problem.

Rated wattage is trivial. There are 600W PSU's more powerful than some 800W PSU's. A lot of variables to consider here.
Bit of a fanboy comment, but I currently trust PC power and cooling, Corsair, and Seasonic. A much larger list to stay away from LOL! I'm currently employing a Corsair. Zero hiccups.

This undersized output was not caused by a custom target size, but by a genuine bug, it seems! On the backup, the main feature has a running time of 85 minutes. On the original disc, main feature is 161 minutes.
So, for some reason BD-RB figured 85 minutes was enough. There's no mention of anomalies in the log, however. Except... main feature is 00005.m2ts which consists of a single video track, two DTS-HD MA tracks and a single subtitle track - and it's 29.7GB. And yet the log reads:
- [02:34:04] Processing: VID_00005 (2 of 12)
- [02:34:04] Extracting A/V streams [VID_00005]
- [03:28:48] Reencoding video [VID_00005]
- [03:28:49] Keeping original video (no reencode)
- [03:28:49] Processing audio tracks
- Track 4353 (eng): Keeping original audio
- [03:28:49] Multiplexing M2TS
There are 21 other m2ts files in the directory, for a total of 1.25GB.
To debug a bit, I'm re-ripping this for another go. This time I'll be encoding from a BD directory structure instead of a mounted ISO.

Trying to rebuild The Last Stand and am getting the error "Target is too small to continue." Have tried direct from original disc and from rip. Have tried different target drives that have 87GB and 112GB free space respectively. Have tried BD9 and BD25 output sizes and still receive the error. Any ideas? Thanks for any help/suggestions...

I've found what looks to be a bug. Submitted for you to check.
Picture 1 BD-RB shows it recognizes the 2nd DTS for the PiP. Picture 2, the processing doesn't include the 2nd DTS when it goes on to the rest of the process. Picture 3, are the list of files. No blank files, the Secondary DTS doesn't get extracted.

In addition, few questions :
- why using a such old mp4box version ?
- which command line is used to create mp4 file ?
- why using faac as audio encoder ? Are you insane ?
- why target size is selected in the menu whereas I selected CRF value ?
- Is there a way to change the x264 preset ?
- Why not putting a warning or something else when we select PGS streams as input and choose MP4 as output ? it's not supported...

I'm confused. Picture two shows the secondary (PiP audio) being processed, and even shows where it was remuxed. The list of files wouldn't show the secondary -- because it isn't extracted (TSMUXER can't handle DTS Express), BD-RB pulls that one directly from the origin and inserts it into the output.

When I use MP4 as alternative output + MP4_CHAPTERS=1 switch in hiddenopts.txt file, I got no chapters in my output I'll take a look at the chaptering on MP4 output. HIDDENOPTS.TXT is just documentation. If you want to actually use the settings documented you have to them to the config file. Not sure if that's what you did. But -- MP4_CHAPTERS defaults to 1 anyway, so the only time your really need to add it is to turn it off.
- why using a such old mp4box version ?It's not that old, and I've had a lot of luck with that version. But I'll do some testing with the newest version.
- which command line is used to create mp4 file ?Not sure what you're asking. An MP4Box command line is constructed and executed at runtime.
- why using faac as audio encoder ? Are you insane ?Yes, I'm insane, but it is unrelated to FFAC. FAAC is the only AAC encoder I know of that is open source and is free. There are others that may be better (Nero?) -- but I can't distribute them. Frankly I think FAAC is good quality so I don't understand the concern. But it would be easy enough to add support for another encoder -- as long as I don't get into copyright/distribution issues etc.
- why target size is selected in the menu whereas I selected CRF value ?Again, I'm not sure what you're asking. If you are selecting CRF from the SETTINGS menu -- it is because BD-RB has added in an algorithm that samples the source and predicts the CRF need to meet the target. If you are talking about output to ALTERNATE output -- there really is no target and the CRF value determines the size.
- Is there a way to change the x264 preset ?Yes, from the settings menu. But BD-RB keeps control of this because some presets can violate BD standards.
- Why not putting a warning or something else when we select PGS streams as input and choose MP4 as output ? it's not supported...ALTERNATE output follows a different set of rules than normal BD backup settings. The settings are driven by the ALTERNATE.TXT file's presets. I guess I could deselect the subtitles when the mode is changed to MP4 output.

Image 1 is showing the original Blu-ray file imported.

Well I can't speak for MKVMERGE GUI or how it works, but I do PiP backups with DTS Express all the time and the audio always there when I watch it back. But I'll take a look at it again. I especially want to look at it with MKVMERGE GUI to see if it sees it. As you may know, there are some issues on certain players (like the Sony S360) with the remuxed DTS Express playback. It could be the whatever that is (I've been looking for it for a long time) may somehow be related to MKVMERGE not seeing it.

Ok, I didn't know that.

I asked this because there were some issues with ++4Go avc streams and see below.
Not sure what you're asking. An MP4Box command line is constructed and executed at runtime.
I'm asking this because Ipod/Ipad need some tunings in the command line. As far I can see, you didn't use them...
Yes, I'm insane, but it is unrelated to FFAC. FAAC is the only AAC encoder I know of that is open source and is free.
What's the matter between open source and free tools ? I don't get your point...tsmuxer is not open source and you use it. Besides, you're violating the faac copyright using this sort of distribution. Faac belongs to Nero AG since several years.
There are some others aac encoder that meets your requirements : fdk-aac and qaac.
Frankly I think FAAC is good quality so I don't understand the concern.
Nope, the quality is poor comparing to the others.
But it would be easy enough to add support for another encoder -- as long as I don't get into copyright/distribution issues etc.
That would be great...
Again, I'm not sure what you're asking. If you are selecting CRF from the SETTINGS menu -- it is because BD-RB has added in an algorithm that samples the source and predicts the CRF need to meet the target. If you are talking about output to ALTERNATE output -- there really is no target and the CRF value determines the size.
Yes, from the settings menu.
maybe with a picture it's more understandable :

http://uppix.net/2/6/3/0dc37d394f80309526d9898f228a2.png
So, my question was : why the target size is still selected in the menu whereas I choose a CRF value for alternative output...my goal is to have a certain output quality not a target file size.

While doing a SBS-backup of Wreck it Ralph 3D I've run into a small problem:
Apparently the re-encoding of the video is skipped if the input size is smaller than the target. In my case I had set the target as BD-25 and BDR reported the input size of 21.17 GB. After reducing the target size the video re-encode happens as expected. I would think that a video re-encode is always needed (regardless of the input and target size) if it's a 3D-conversion to SBS (or any other 3D-format)?
I've the same problem with Prometheus 3D FR version :o
With FORCE_ENCODE=1 option, it seems to work.
Is it possible to change resize filter ? Lanczos instead of Bilinear ? Thanks !

There are some others aac encoder that meets your requirements : fdk-aac and qaac. While it is copyrighted, TSMUXER is free and can be freely distributed, while Nero's AAC Encoder's End User Agreement says this:This License does not provide any rights to reproduce and/or distribute this software package in whole or in any part.the TSMUXER license says this:You may distribute exact copies of the Software to anyone. I'm pretty sure qaac requires Quicktime, , but I'll check out fdk-aac.
And... you should take a few minutes to read the FAAC and GNU agreement (which is, by the way, included in the BD-RB package -- as required) and you'd see you are incorrect:This library is free software; you can redistribute it and/or
modify it under the terms of the GNU Lesser General Public

version 2.1 of the License, or (at your option) any later version.Nope, the quality is poor comparing to the others. I disagree.
I'm asking this because Ipod/Ipad need some tunings in the command line. As far I can see, you didn't use them... The iPod/iPad settings are set properly. Use them and you'll see they work. I personally have used the correct settings on the iPod Video, iPod Touch, iPhone 4s, and iPad.

I'm pretty sure qaac requires Quicktime
From the official website (https://sites.google.com/site/qaacpage/) :
Since 1.00, qaac directly uses CoreAudioToolbox.dll. Therefore, QuickTime installation is no more required. However, Apple Application Support is required.
Apple Application Support is included in recent Apple products such as iTunes, QuickTime, or Safari. Therefore, you can install it via installation of one of these products. However, Apple Application Support itself is actually independently packaged as AppleApplicationSupport.msi. If you want, you can extract it from installer exe file using 7-zip archiver, and directly run AppleApplicationSupport.msi. This way, you can install only necessary modules to run qaac. No iTunes, QuickTime, or Safari needed.
You need recent Apple Application Support package (QuickTime >= 7.7.1, or iTunes >= 10.5). With older version, at least AAC-HE encoder is not usable, and there might be some other problems. Of course, the latest version is desirable.
And... you should take a few minutes to read the FAAC and GNU agreement (which is, by the way, included in the BD-RB package -- as required) and you'd see you are incorrect:
You are outdated...Check this log (http://faac.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/faac/faac/libfaac/tns.c?r1=1.8&r2=1.9).
And from wikipedia :
FAAC contains code based on the ISO MPEG-4 reference code, whose license is not compatible with the LGPL license. Only the FAAC changes to this ISO MPEG-4 reference code are licensed under the LGPL license.
I disagree.
That's your opinion but you should know that most AAC blind tests show that this encoder is beaten by the others.
The iPod/iPad settings are set properly. Use them and you'll see they work. I personally have used the correct settings on the iPod Video, iPod Touch, iPhone 4s, and iPad.
You have tested only with Video/Audio streams but did you test also with subtitles and/or chapters ? Doesn't seem so...

@Kurtnoise
How about we let me make the decisions about my software, and you make the decisions about yours. This is a bug reporting thread, not an opportunity for folks to express "how they'd do it" or a debating club... so let's get back on topic. As I said, I will look at the MP4 chaptering. MP4 subtitles aren't likely to change, since BD-RB uses a BD as its source, and the only subtitles typically available are PGS -- and most OCR conversion methods require too much manual interaction.

Hi,
I'm new to this forum but have been using BDRebuilder for a while now with complete success (Fab product - when will it be available to buy?)
Recently I noticed (movie only) the right-click “Turn on” is no longer an option to force subtitles. Has it been removed?
The option is also not available when importing several MKV files (each containing subs).

@Kurtnoise
Ok, I now have the chapter markers working in MP4 output that is aimed at iPod/iPhone/iPad targets. As I'm sure you know that required an update of MP4BOX because it wasn't supported in the version I was using (v0.4.5). The capability will be available in the next release of BD-RB.

It is available, but only in Movie-Only mode (that's the way it has always been).
I read the earlier post where you said it’s only available in movie only mode, which is why I specifically said “(movie only)” in my post. To reiterate with (I hope) total clarity:
When attempting a movie only backup I am no longer able to right-click and choose “Turn on” to force subtitles. Single right click fails to cause the “Turn on” message to appear on screen (as it once did).
Sadly I can’t remember the version when it last worked. I’m currently using the latest version. The prerequisite s/w (Haali, FFDShow etc.) is unchanged from when the option was there.

Blu-ray movie converted in BD Rebuilder at fast rewinding forward in bottoms part movie sometimes displays stripes in green colour eventually in varicoloured stripes extraneous to now displayed parts movie.
Is that a normal effect if it doesn't what with by?
How Shall I set BD Rebuilder, to these stripes not displayed?
Thank all for help. Staina

sounds like a corrupt source. That's not a normal effect. You'll need to provide the BDRB log and inspect.exe results to possibly determine your problem

there's likely your problem. The wrong FFDshow version and the codecs arent properly set in FFDshow. Use the recommended FFDshow version then set the settings properly

I just tested it, and I can right-click on the subtitle and select to turn it on, no problem.
You are absolutely correct. I retested last night. I think what I must have done is used an ISO of a previously processed movie only backup and forgetting I had “full copy” selected because it looked like movie only as that was all that was available; thus it appeared not to be working. Oops. :o
- Which leads me to ask for a feature request. Could the option be offered for full backup? The reason I ask is that recently I imported a number of MKV episodes of a series, each containing subtitles. There is no menu (actually there is, a vestigial one with a starry background – goodness knows where that came from) and each episode follows on from the next when played (or each title can be manually picked). I have to use “full backup” in order to retain the multiple title imports, I would like to force subtitles on some as there is a modicum of foreign language (which is subtitled) during those episodes.

Are you ONLY playing back on your computer? Because there's a multitude of factors involved there. Decoding, cables, the list goes on. Have you tried burning the result, and seeing how your Standalone player plays it?

A movie-only backup can do it only because the authoring is done by the backup program and is completely within its control.

Hello JD,
Have you come across anything like this?
[21:18:47] Importing MKV: DIE_HARD_4
- Collecting audio/video streams from source...
- Building pseudo-BD source structure...
- Source issue found, attempting correction...
- Building pseudo-BD source structure...
[21:38:42]ERROR: Failed to build BD structure. Aborted.
I figured I'd have BD-RB rerender for iPad (2) from an MKV Video Intact & DTS to AC3 or Keep AC3 profile I made. It seems some other multi M2TS...MKV's created files have this error also. I'm getting info together to share. I did not abort the operation, BD-RB 44.09 did. Thanks.

I'm getting info together to share. I did not abort the operation, BD-RB 44.09 did. Thanks.BD-RB first tries to remux from the extracted source (usually a .264 file) using TSMUXER. If that fails, it then creates a new MKV with specific settings, and tries to remux directly from that. If it fails the second time -- it almost always means the source is corrupt. I'll do some testing, though.

The Source was created with BD-RB. However, I'm testing with "Finding Nemo" and for some reason that MKV that was created has a corruption that MKMerge has detected. I'm testing more to figure what happened and I'm...wondering...if the old firmware for my USB 3 board adapter may have influenced it. I've since, updated the USB 3 driver and firmware.
Update...it isn't related to USB 3 firmware or driver. I think I found it...checking...
Update 2: I'll resume searching for the "Finding Nemo" corruption...but that's on "hold" while I'm checking some other MKVs. What I've noticed is: I added SRT Subtitles to many of my movies after being processed with BD-RB (Since no Conversion of SUP to SRT happens in auto...and I don't expect it..haha!) My Sharp HD TV does recognize SUP files as being there but won't display them. My LG BD Player doesn't recognize SUP at all, so I'm adding SRT using MKVMerge GUI to add them. Which both the TV and LG BD Player do recognize (since..standard). Now the the point.. In the Import process, of an MKV (SRT added) is where I'm noticing the 2nd..MKVMerge has to happen. It's failing the preparation process if an SRT is in the MKV. Are you able to fix/change that?
If I use MKVMerge (GUI) to reprocess the MKV, after Unchecking SRT, BD-RB seems to be processing well. Still testing...
