Please note this text from the first post of this thread:

Yes, sorry. I didn't mean to be pushy. My apologies.

Can you please post the contents of AUD_00009_4352.AVS and AUD_00009.meta? BD-RB works with any type of legal BD audio format except DTS-E in secondary titles.

Ok, there you go:

AUD_00009_4352.AVS

#Created by BD Rebuilder - v0.38.09 (beta)
LoadPlugin("C:\BD-RBV03809\BD_Rebuilder\tools\nicaudio.dll")
audio=NicAC3Source("00009.track_4352.ac3").Amplify(1.2)
ConvertAudioTo16bit(ResampleAudio(audio, 48000))

AUD_00009.meta

MUXOPT --no-pcr-on-video-pid --new-audio-pes --demux --vbr --vbv-len=500
V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC, "G:\Blurays\QUE_ME_IMPORTA\BDMV\STREAM\00009.m2ts", fps=23.976, track=4113
A_AC3, "G:\Blurays\QUE_ME_IMPORTA\BDMV\STREAM\00009.m2ts", track=4352, lang=eng

And just in case, contents of audio.bat:

"C:\BD-RBV03809\BD_Rebuilder\tools\wavi.exe" "G:\TRABAJO\WORK_QUE_ME_IMPORTA\WORKFILES\AUD_00009_4352.AVS"
- | "C:\BD-RBV03809\BD_Rebuilder\tools\aften.exe" -v 1 -b 224 -readtoeof 1
- "G:\TRABAJO\WORK_QUE_ME_IMPORTA\WORKFILES\AUD_00009_4352.AC3"

So I've got 6 workfiles folders with compressed h264 files, sup subtitle files and uncompressed audio tracks. Is there a workaround, say that I manually compress the audio and BD-RB sort of continue the process ?

Thanks.

Ok, I'm confused. In your first post you said that track was "DTS-HD XLL" -- but in these files it shows the source to be AC3?

I ran "Drag me to Hell" last night. I attempted to blank the theatrical title, while maintaining the directors cut title(no seamless branching). The output folder was 12.9Gb. I find this very interesting. Because had I kept both titles, they would both end up ~10Gb. It's almost as though rebuilder felt like it still needed to compress the kept title. I guess for the time being, I could implement FORCE_NOENCODE. But if I'm not mistaken, it wouldn't compress anything. Thereby making the output to large. I have to compress the extras, or the main title slightly. Or it'll be over by ~3.1Gb.

LOL!, Looks like I kept the wrong title anyway. I assumed the longer one was the Directors cut. Which is apparently not the case. The blanking appears to work perfectly JD. I tried to play the Directors cut, and it returns to the menu almost immediately :)

Thanks for the help jdobbs.
I opted to do "Movie only". There just was no other way to get rid of the unwanted videos parts.
I will be using the blank feature in days/weeks ahead for sure, will let you know of any problems.

I will also try Movie and Menu only. But will this result in a extended delay before menu shows? I tried this with DVDRB ages ago, but didn't like the delay. Preferred the trailers/warning to show, that way I could select "menu" on remote.
I guess I could try and test it out myself...lol.
But if there is a delay, is it possible to do movie and menu+all the warning and trailers before menu pops up?

I despised the delay as well. I dealt with it by either using Dvdfab, or PGCedit and forcing it to go to the main movie or menu immediately. Although Disney movies can be tricky...

It shouldn't delay except for the time it takes to load the blank replacements for any forced extras (like previews) that were set to play be for the main menu. Each of those are replaced by a .5 second (12 frame) blank stream.

@Omegaman

Hmm... with the output being that small, it shouldn't have reencoded unless FORCE_ENCODE=1 was set. I'll have to look at that. In the meantime you can always set FORCE_NOENCODE=1 to keep the original.

omegaman7
16th September 2011, 17:42
Are you suggesting I used FORCE_REENCODE=1? I can't think of any reason that I'd ever use it

Ahh, ok. I was under the impression that FORCE NO ENCODE, was simply a way of rebuilding the structure, and absolutely no encoding was done. So it still reencodes the extras? Good to know.

Are you suggesting I used FORCE_REENCODE=1? I can't think of any reason that I'd ever use it  I have no idea whether you used it. My point was that based on what I see in your log and your statement that the output size was 12.9GB -- the output shouldn't have been reencoded. I'm trying to figure out why it was.

I also have "Dark City", which is structured very similarly to Drag me to hell. I'll be running that one too, and see what happens.

Ok, I'm confused. In your first post you said that track was "DTS-HD XLL" -- but in these files it shows the source to be AC3?

Weird... because there were 2 DTS-HD-XLL tracks and some other tracks in ac3 -commentaries, and such-. I'm confused myself too

Ok, another one from the batch. The important parts:

I'm testing the new edit function and find atm that it triggers too much to be "blanked". I just inserted Fast & Furious 5 in edit mode. BDRB auto "blanked" stuff but selected not only trailer parts but also streams that were over 2GB in size and actual bonus features. Thats why they call it a beta feature i guess. I just check every stream in blank mode and confirm it may be blanked :)

The 20 minute threshold is adjustable to whatever you want -- make it 1 minute, 5 minutes, 30 seconds -- your choice. There's nothing special that could be used to distinguish a trailer or annoying notice from any other "Extra", so picking a time threshold is pretty much the only choice we have for auto-editing.

Of course you also have the ability to edit it and blank/unblank as you see fit.

That's just it. i adjusted it to 1 minute, still triggered em. Probably due to the linked blanking :)

I did a lot of testing -- and never had an issue at all with length of time??? Are you sure you put the correct INI entry in (spelling etc)? I guess I'll have to look around for F&F5. 1 min is pretty small for a playlist, so you'd think very few would be blanked.

Ch3vr0n
16th September 2011, 21:27
hold off on that for a while. Apparantly the code BLANK_THRESHOLD=60 wasnt present in the config file anymore. Something i saw was that it flags "static" streams for blanking aswell. Ya know background image stuff or that "pocket-blue" screen. The Universal "rotating logo pause screen" also got triggered for blanking. The BD-Live "loading a fresh preview" also got flagged. I'm just saying all this just because it may help. However the important part is that the stuff that needs to be blanked for real also got flagged. Kudos on that.

The reason alot got flagged is probably cause FF5 has a crapload of small streams. Anyway if i may offer 2 suggestions on improving that for the future. A way to set the "blank timer" via a submenu like item such as in alternate movie only output. Textbox of some kind, under the movie & edit mode. Another suggestion would be to auto enable the editing when that mode is selected and not having to "double click" :)

I had to quadruple click :p Though I'm probably doing something wrong.

Here an observation with Auto-Blank:
The first clip is the static language selection picture for selecting the language of the subsequent copyright warnings. It got auto-blanked, but playback was eventually halted, waiting for the input from the remote to select the copyright language. In order to move forward I had to blindly select a language (the white cursor was visible but without the text from the blanked picture). From there onwards the regular menu was displayed and everything worked as expected.
Don't know if there is an easy solution to this (other than unblanking the language selection clip manually).

Ch3vr0n
16th September 2011, 23:31
@sharc, then you're probably using the default blank size of 1800. I set mine to 60 wich is 1 minute. More then enough for most trailers. I also preview any stream marked for blanking to make sure it's correct. Sounds like BDRB marked a menu stream for blankin in your case

omegaman7

Jdobbs, the same reaction has happened with Dark City. Blanked one title, and the other still got massively compressed. Exactly as much as would be, if I were keeping both titles. I'll post the proper info tonight, but I have to leave for work at the moment.

By the way, don't spend it all in once place ;) ♥

that and if you pause a disc too long it defaults back to it aswell (atleast in R2), however that stream got selected to be blanked aswell. But since i previews every selected stream it was just a few clicks of "unblanking it" :)

Back in 24.06 the option to not process Secondary video was removed. Is there a way to "unselect" the secondary video in Full Backup mode?

Sorry, but no. Removing it causes more problems than it solves. Can you explain why it causes more problems than it solves? I used the PROCESS_SECONDARY=0 hidden option with great success when encoding to Full Backup/BD9 before the change in 24.06 without any problems at all. Seemed to work well for me.

Making PROCESS_SECONDARY=0 a hidden option again would allow me to process my discs that have secondary video/audio and exclude it until there is a solution to encode DTS-Express audio. Kind of a waste of space to include the video with no audio in my opinion. Thanks for your insight...

PS. Both original question and response were found in this thread. If you need to move to the Features Request thread please do so. Thanks...

Here's the Log and settings. Same as with Drag me to Hell. Something must be telling it that it still needs space, so it compresses the remaining title, as if the other title isn't blanked.

last night had to abort the encode at 73% cause needed to get some sleep. Just now i tried to resume and BDRB said working path not empty. Though nothing has changed from my end something HAS changed from BDRB's end. I saw that streams i UNSELECTED to keep that were flagged by BDRB to get blanked, were reselected by BDRB to be blanked. It seems it is not remembering (un)selected streams correctly

I've read as much of the thread as I could, but with 12.5K+ posts I probably missed something..

I'm still a little confused on how "forced subtitles" are handled.

I've read that if you go into "settings" -> setup -> choose English (eng) ONLY for your subtitle choice. Then UNCHECK "limit to one track for each language" it should keep forced subtitles.

Should that also work for "alternate Movie-Only output" mode? (I select MKV Container, 1920x1080, Intact Audio)

I just tried using BD-Rebuilder v0.39.01 to convert Star Wars ANH Bluray to MKV. While all the English sub titles show selected before I hit backup (and non-english have red X next to them), the resulting MKV contains NO subtitles (according to MediaInfo). I'm trying to get the ones where Greedo and Jaba are speaking...

I saw Capsbackup post something around post #12680 and a few follow ups, but I'm not sure if its the same thing, as that issue seems to be with regular subs, not forced, and DVD output rather than MKV?

Is it possible to have forced subs when using alt movie-only output as MKV file?

Also, not as important, should the resulting MKV have all selected audio streams embedded? (again, I did... Setup -> "settings" -> choose English (eng) ONLY for audio to keep. Then UNCHECK "limiti to one track for each language")... because it only has 1 (per MediaInfo)

Thats just it, i havent. After the abort the only thing i did was launch BDRB and hit backup again. So it should have resumed. I noticed that BDRB had reselected streams to be blanked that i have previously UNSELECTED prior to starting the backup process in the first place. So it seems BDRB doesnt remember the streams blanked correctly

In order to save those settings I'll have to put the selection list into the INF file so it will reset your changes to the default selections when you resume. The problem is that on some of these discs the string in the INF might be 500 characters long. :(

Ok. Cool. Thank you. That helps! Sorry I missed it being mentioned in the other thread.

I ended up using -> http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/313620-How-to-extract-subtitles-from-a-Blu-ray-and-convert-to-srt-or-sub-idx to pull the subtitles and convert to an SRT. Yup the OCR is horrible, but thankfully, for forced subs, there isn't much there so the effort needed isn't too bad :D

However that post you linked to says you can do multiple audio tracks. its discussed in the next few posts there too.. So I'm guessing that it still doesn't work? or am I doing something wrong?

If you remember the settings, or are selective as to what additional selections/deselections you make over and above what is set in Setup, you will not have to start over. ;)

Been awhile since I encoded any Blu-ray's, but I just started again recently. I did many successful rebuilds, but I keep getting the same error on two, BSG The Plan and Terminator 2. They both fail to retrieve audio, and tsmuxer stops responding and I have to force it to close. Any ideas what is wrong? I'm guessing something with my systems, as on the computer I normally encode blu-ray's BSG fails around 17% but I tried both on this computer and BSG failed before it could even do anything (although T2 seemed to fail at the same spot it did on my other system). Also, I searched this post for tsmuxer crashes and only found old posts about subs. I tried both without subs wih the same results. Also, Inspect.exe reports everything ok.

I'd still like to know why tsmuxer crashes at the same spot with both titles every time on two separate machines. Here is the latest log of BSG.

I get the feeling, that if I run either dark city, or drag me to hell with "FORCE_NOENCODE", while blanking one title, and then run the output back through the program, it's still gonna compress the remaining title. I haven't attempted it yet. But I have a feeling, that's where you're gonna discover what's going on. E.g. something else needs to be blanked with the title. Whatever is referencing the blanked title, also needs to be blanked(or simply adapt the code to be aware of this). Sorry I can't be more specific. I really don't know much about this stuff :S

Well I'll be damned...
I'm looking at a very high bitrate for encode #2. I'm rerunning the output which was 24Gb with "FORCE_NOENCODE" set, and blanked one of the titles. So i'm not sure why it can't do the job correctly in encode #1, but a second encode might just work. I may be jumping the gun here, but the bitrate for remaining title is VERY high, I feel good about this one :D

I suppose I could have removed some audio tracks, and would have not needed the second encode. Or an encode at all :p What can I say, i'm picky.

Worked like a charm for "Dark City". I guess until the code can be updated, I'll be running titles like this one twice. Which isn't really a big deal. Because the first process requires no encoding, it doesn't take long. Blank the unwanted stuff, and then reload the output and start process 2. I wonder how the blanking is going for others though. E.g. are they finishing it all in one process, and getting the expected output size?

Here's how I do forced subs:

1. Do a Movie Only backup with all English subs. (Unless you want a blu ray backup as well I set the output size at 60GB so no re-encoding is done. Faster that way).

2. Use BDSup2Sub to examine the subtitile files (they should still be in the BDRB /Workfiles folder) to determine which one contains the forced subs.

3. Create .mp4 (or .mkv) output with RibBot264. (Use the single .mt2s file made in step one as the input.) One of the settings for each job is which subtitle track to include. Just pick the one you identified above. The rest just set up according to what sort of output you want.

Mediainfo will not show any subtitles because it burns them into the video stream.

A couple of limitations: It's considerably slower than BDRB on my machine, and as far as I can tell you can only select one audio stream.

It has worked fine for me with titles such as Avatar, Taken, Tourist, Da Vinci Code and others.

Update on FF5, the rebuilt disc jammed arround 36minutes. Something probably got blanked that shouldnt have been. The burnt double layer ISO from AnyDVD skipped past the problematic spot without a problem. I'll be running a new encode now. That being said the 2nd job i ran "Cop Out" performed flawlessly (though i did apparently have it blank the menu background, the menu itself was unaffected and behaved like it should)

Could be I'm having a thick-o day (even more so than usual) but v0.39.01 is acting somewhat peculiarly.

I have not added ENABLE_TEST=1 to the .INI file. I tried to do a full backup of Citizen Kane (US) but BD-RB lists only the main movie in both Full Backup and Movie-Only Backup modes.

v0.38.09 lists 7 items in Full Backup mode:
VID_00020 (AVC 1080p Main Movie) 29 387,99 MB
VID_00055 (AVC 480i) 189,59 MB
VID_00060 (AVC 480i) 290,33 MB
VID_00063 (AVC 480i) 156,52 MB
VID_00073 (AVC 480i) 42,17 MB
VID_00074 (AVC 480i) 8,10 MB
VID_00075 (AVC 480i) 192,66 MB

v0.39.01 lists only VID_00020, no matter what I try.

@jagjockey

Best guess is that some other program has intercepted the AVC codec. Unistall BD-RB and its helper apps. Then, if you have any CODEC packs installed remove them (they aren't needed -- FFDSHOW has all the CODECs anyone needs). Then reinstall BD-RB and its apps again carefully following the instructions in the first post of this thread.

v0.39.01 lists only VID_00020, no matter what I try. That just means the others are being kept intact for full backup. Usually that means they have certain flags that indicate they are menus (perhaps IGS subpaths) or are smaller than the MIN_M2TS_SIZE setting.

Movie-Only always shows only the main movie.

OK, now I'm totally confused (not hard to achieve, admittedly). In Full Backup mode (of Citizen Kane), 0.38.09 lists 7 items, while 0.39.01 lists only 1 item. Is that how it's supposed to be?

OK, now I'm totally confused (not hard to achieve, admittedly). In Full Backup mode (of Citizen Kane), 0.38.09 lists 7 items, while 0.39.01 lists only 1 item. Is that how it's supposed to be? Yes. There have been several improvements added in v0.39.01 to identify items should be "left alone" when possible. That's because they have a high risk for causing issues. For example, in previous versions a stream with an IGS substream would put it in that category. In v0.39.01, I have added code to look also at substreams. I've also added about 5 other analysis criteria as well. I had to, because opening those items up for editing creates a whole new world of "how careful should I be".

Here's the bottom line... when you run that disc --- does it work? Does it look a good as the original? We're squabbling about minutia here that is of virtually zero importance. Leaving a few hundred megabytes intact on a 25GB target is rounding figures.

BD-RB has always done this selection analysis to provide better speed and compatibility. Now it just does it better. BD-9 output, however, it another matter. Since the original's maximum bitrate is too high and the target is too small, BD-RB doesn't have the luxury of deciding to leave some things intact. Instead it has to go through a whole list of additional hoops (like going through the entire target M2TS -- resetting DTS, PTS and other timing codes when the "leave alones" are reencoded). That's especially true when there is an out-of-mux substream that is interactive. That takes time and increases risk.
