I can confirm no problem with McAfee Still! :p
Any other changes besides trying to make Norton friendly? Should everyone update to this version?

OK thanks. Yes, Haali now shows the correct version for me! :) :thanks:

I've updated the first post with links to a new version of BD Rebuilder (v0.38.06). Changes for this release:- Fixed a continuing error in which the correct
version of HAALI may show as "Incorrect" when
using INSPECT on a 32 bit version of Windows.
- Recompiled and reecrypted EXE to prevent the
Norton A/V software from falsely indicating a
virus.
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

I got tired of waiting for someone to test it -- I'll have to assume this version get's around Norton's false positive screwup.

I just downloaded 38.06 and Norton has removed the file bdrebuilder. The inspect file is there but has different parameters than before.

I dislike norton P 360 myself but it is what Comcast in their infinite wisdom offers to their clientele. I am a different poster than 'synthea'

I disabled Norton Anti-Virus detect for 15 mins and was able to download and begin the download process.

I really mean the extracting of A/V streams or download of the BluRay movie is ongoing now and it is still running after enabling Norton Anti-Virus.

jdobbs

Yeah, there are a lot of Norton A/V users, that's why I have to try and get around this...

I know it's needed these days -- but I really, really hate A/V software. This kind of crap happens all the time. They've gotten too clever for their own good and now they are wrong as often as they are right.

Let me know how it works out. I can recompile as many times as it takes...

Hi all,

When trying to rebuild Animal House tonight, I got a repeated "encode failed" before it skipped to the next project in the queue. I downloaded the latest version (38.06) and made sure all the other components were on the recommended version (as best I can tell) and the issue repeated.

can't dl 38.06. Authorisation needed ? Try it again. I made a change to INSPECT (corrected the BD-RB version check) and uploaded it again. I just tested the download from the first post of this thread, and it worked for me.

I would appreciate it if someone with Norton installed could test the link in the previous post so I can get this Norton-manufactured monkey off my back.

I use the Symantec Endpoint Protection software, and it doesn't give me a virus warning for either 3805 or 3806. They must use slightly different coding in their Norton 360 product. (Symantec makes both, don't they?)

Note: I'm running version 11.0.6200.754 (64-bit) with virus definitions from today. (Aug. 3) I just did a fresh install and a full system scan, and it ignored BD Rebuilder. I even extracted both downloads multiple times to different directories to give it a good shot at seeing it. :)

Page 1 download of this thread still a no go for Norton Prem 360....I am now getting 404 page not found error from the link on the recompile near the top of this page. I guess you are recompiling again. It was a success from me disabling Norton's Prem 360 Anti Virus and redownloading earlier during the night. I was able to burn Source Code movie to Bd-25 fine.

I can stick around awhile longer to try again when you are ready.

Just like 'Synthea' I am unable to figure out how to allow bdrebuilder.exe in Norton's AV file tables. Should I attempt to inform their support team that this file is OK?

I hate Norton Prem 360. I have added bd_rebuilder.exe to the exlusions list in it and have disabled its' SONAR and SONAR still removes it. I have rebooted my PC and have the same results. The only thing I have found to work is after downloading 38.06a from this site is to disable the Anti-Virus program and begin downloading the movie before reenabling the Anti-Virus from Norton Prem 360.

I have tried this after Ch3vr0n's last post.

Just as a test, download this zipped EXE (http://www.jdobbs.net/Freeware/BD-RBTEST.ZIP) and replace the one you have. I've removed the ASPROTECT encryption. It could be that Norton is keying off that...

Probably need to flush you browser cache and try again.

Try renaming it to something else and see if Norton has somehow made that kind of connection somehow.

I really hate trying to debug someone else's problem -- in this case it is Norton's, not mine.

To the folks who have Norton and are getting false positives; in addition to working with jdobbs (who is going above and beyond with this) be sure to report the false positive.

https://submit.symantec.com/false_positive/

If enough folks report it, maybe Norton can fix their scanners.

Better yet, anyone with anything on their hard drives that involves the words "norton" or "symantec", uninstall and eradicate those completely! Norton is the worst computing product ever to be foisted upon an unsuspecting public!

I have had at least a couple of instances of .m2ts files dropped during conversions. Not sure if it's just BD-9's or not but that is where I have seen them.

"Solitary Man" for instance dropped 00036.m2ts, 00071.m2ts, and 00072.m2ts during the rebuild. They are all IGS tracks. The rebuilt version would not play properly until I copied those files into the stream folder - then it worked perfectly.

I was using rev 38.05.

00072.m2ts, incidentally, was not referenced by a playlist and its presence or absence had no effect. However, the others were.

BD Rebuilder will drop unreferenced M2TS files (those not a part of an MPLS) because they are not used, but all others should be included. I'll test "Solitary Man" and see if there is a glitch in it somewhere in relation to IGS tracks. In most cases IGS tracks (without video) should be copied intact.

You never know... sometimes new features and changes can have unintended consequences:July 31st, 2011 - v0.38.5
- Added code to prevent encoding attempts of files
that are unreferenced (not part of any MPLS)

@jdobbs, Yes It works after renaming Bd Rebuilder.exe. No problem with norton 360. Thanks jdobbs......

The change you made was needed. Could be that the implementation inadvertently affected some that WERE referenced (your unitended consequences).

The change you made was needed. Could be that the implementation inadvertently affected some that WERE referenced (your unitended consequences). You're right. I just looked at it, and I am losing subpath/subplayitem references in the process. Thanks for catching this, this is a big bug for full backups. I have corrected it and will post an update in a few minutes.

I have updated the first post of this thread with links to an updated release of BD Rebuilder (v0.38.08). Changes for this release:- IMPORTANT FIX. Corrected an error introduced in
v0.38.5 in which M2TS referenced through subpaths
many not be correctly retained -- especially
noticed in full backups using streams with out-
of-mux IGS streams.
- Changed the executable name for BD Rebuilder to
BDRB.EXE. This is to bypass issues in Norton
360 A/V detection (I guess only Norton knows why
I would need to do this).
- Changed default settings so strict AVCHD is now
the default. This is necessary to prevent
unintended non-standard AVCHD output now that
AC3 audio reencoding is no longer the default.
encoding is no longer the default. (v0.38.7)
- Changed default VBV buffer sizing for BD-5 and
BD-9 output. (v0.38.7)
- Fixed a continuing error in which the correct
version of HAALI may show as "Incorrect" when
using INSPECT on a 32 bit version of Windows.
(v0.38.6)
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

Note the first fix -- it is important that anyone who installed v0.38.5 or above download and update to this version.

Also please remember to update any shortcuts you may have created to the new EXE name (BDRB.EXE).

So you're saying you have an "Extra" that is over 4GB in length? That's kinda' too big to be an extra. I just went throught about 15 discs that I happen to have on my hard drive. I couldn't find a single disc with an extra anywhere near that big. I guess it's not unheard of, though. Have you changed the default CRF value for quicker?

It shouldn't make your overall encode (disc) oversize, though. The bitrate for the feature is adjusted for the actual output sizes of the extras. But I would still recommend keeping it off when you are doing a disc with "many hours of extras" or if it is a series disc -- I've made that point many times throughout this thread.

Just turn "Quicker Encode for Extras" off.

That definitely solved the oversizing problem , also took about 3 times longer for a start to finish.

Thank you again, just sent a donation through my wife's paypal account.

I believe we've run into this earlier, with the forgettable "Expendables":

Inspect shows "OK" on Avisynth 2.5.8.0 with BDRB v. 38.08 on my system.

v0.38.08:
For 720p the level has been reduced to level 3.2. For --ref 6 x264 now gives a warning that DPB size (6 frames) is > level limit (5 frames). In earlier version level 4.0 did not produce the reference frames warning.
Has the level reduction from 4.0 to 3.2 become necessary for some reason?

Using the latest build, the Inspect tool tells me that Avisynth 2.58 is the wrong version. Is this an error similar to the previous Haali one please? No. For AVISYNTH BD-RB actually looks at the version number of the DLL that is installed. If it says your version is wrong, you likely don't have v2.57 or v2.58 installed.

Has the level reduction from 4.0 to 3.2 become necessary for some reason? Hmm... I changed the VBV buffer size for BD-5 and 9 -- and it appears that triggered another section of code to change the level. I'll fix it for the next release. Level 3.2 was only meant for certain secondary video streams.

I installed DB Rebuilder v. 0.38.08 (beta). After creating new shortcut on my desktop, I started the program. It reported that it could not find "a valid path for these required tools:" listing X264.EXE; TSMUXER.EXE; WAVI.EXE; AFTEN.EXE; DECOMB.DLL; SMOOTHDEINTERLACER.DLL; AND MKVMERGE.EXE. It recommended re-installation. I downloaded all the auxiliary programs from your website and installed. After rebooting and starting the DBR program again, I got same message. Have not yet tried the program with a video file.

Those tools are all included in the zip file. BD-RB finds them via it's own path. Make sure you retain the file structure represented in the zip file.

So how do I correct it?

Unzip the install package. Copy and paste the "BD_Rebuilder" folder onto one of your hard drives. Add a desktop shortcut to the BDRB.exe file.

If you've already installed Haali, etc., you're done.

That's the way I've always done it and never had a problem.
