Just another quickie... (it doesn't take me long to recover :D)

Assuming, that BDRB does this then, how is the 'quality' retention. I mean, when you take even a really large standard Blu-ray, say over 40 Gigs and you use BDRB to render it to a BD25, the results are beautiful. How does that compare if you are converting full 4k resolution to standard Blu-ray resolution (assuming BDRB does this) I mean, is the quality retention just as comparable, or with the resizing and all, is it simply better just to stay with the standard HD versions. Just curious if it is worth the trouble...

You mean that jdobbs said that UHD to HD conversion isn't supported yet?

gonca

Not positive what you are asking. But if you plan to have it stay UHD, there is no choice. The specification requires it to be HEVC (X265). If your intent is to resize it and create a 1080p BD-25... BD-RB doesn't have an option to resize UHD to HD yet.

Any chance to add a option of replacing audio/subtitle on BD/UHD ?
I know that I can do it by replacing files on workfile but I have to redo everything twice.

You don't need to do everything twice, replace track before muxing, i have no problem with this.

Oh okay... So, all that BDRB does then with UHD sources or any content that has that resolution is just compress it but KEEP that same resolution, and what, use x265 to compress it...?

What would help me a little better is if someone could please just state exactly what BDRB does with UHD or 4k sources. That would clear it up for me. Thanks for the clarification, though, about it apparently not converting it from UHD to a regular x264 playable Blu-ray.

I just now added 'http://forum.doom9.org' for Chrome to allow this site to set cookies. I didn't think that I specifically had to do that, but nothing else has worked so far...

Sorry to talk to myself, but... So, what I am understanding from this so far is that BDRB will convert all OTHER formats to a playable Blu-ray or an Alternate file (MKV for example) But, as far as any 4k content, that is dealt with ONLY within it's own format, right? So, in the case of UHD material, that is the ONLY format with which BDRB does NOT convert it to any other format, is that right? So, in other words, BDRB deals with either HD material OR UHD material, each one handled COMPLETELY SEPARATELY, right?

@Lathe: At this point in time, if you want to take UHD video and create a BD, you are going to have to create a MKV file by using AVISynth tools, x264 & MKVToolnix to recode to 1080p. Then take that MKV file and pass it on to BDRB to create a BD.

Does BdRebuilder have any option to demux everything and stop ?
By default is demux one m2ts and when finished remux immediately. So I have no chance to replace subtitle...

PS - Not doing video encoding...

ive recently switched to the UHD format & ive done a backup of spiderman far from home, first I rip to the hard drive using dvdfab untouched with no compression, if I then run it through dvdfab to bd25 the burn plays on my Panasonic DPUB450 as dolby vision if I do a bd25 with rebuilder it plays as hdr10 (using imgburn for burning), some in this forum seem to have dolby vision working but it isn't working on all players yet

im doing movie only

would it be any help if I posted the clpi file from both

just thought I would throw this in, dolby vision in dvdfab also has the ff/rew issues that have been posted aboutI suspect it might be an issue with doing movie-only backups of DolbyVision sources. I'll do some testing and see if I can find anything.

The new version fixes the FF/REW issues on Dolby Vision discs. My Sony plays the DV-disc " Lock up" without issues.

Today I rebuild "The Last Jedi". Later I will test the rebuild.

By the way, audio delay does not cause juttery playback

I try to make backup from Stand By Me UHD disc, but BD Rebuilder 0.60.27 did not see any of the (large size) 2160p tracks there, only few 1080p extras it can see when i opened it.

Now this new 0.60.29 can see couple small 2160p tracks too, but still not (large) movie tracks as you can see from attached screenshot. That 346MB track in the picture is biggest video track and rest are smaller than that. (BD Rebuilder defaults in that 346MB track as it assumes that is movie track)

It is this disc: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Stand-by-Me-4K-Blu-ray/243031/

My first bug report, so my apology if missing some info and need more to know? And yes "full backup" is selected. And yes computer is configured according to first post here, so far BD Rebuilder has worked fantastic for long time already. This is first time i notice any problems.
edit: Source folder is around 55GB so it should not be problem in that either.

For what?

The first CODE can't be read without move the bottom slider.
I like more for the first the QUOTE.

The CODE is intended to preserve some TAB's and other short lines.
The second CODE is ok.

The first CODE can't be read without move the bottom slider.
You manually add line breaks to that kind of code listing, so that it breaks correctly. Otherwise, the line wrap is within the -- and other characters, etc.

@Lathe: At this point in time, if you want to take UHD video and create a BD, you are going to have to create a MKV file by using AVISynth tools, x264 & MKVToolnix to recode to 1080p. Then take that MKV file and pass it on to BDRB to create a BD.

Ah, I didn't know that you had to use AVS to do that, thanks!

At some point I'll add a "Resize 3840x2160 to 1920x1080" to the SETUP/VIDEO dialog. I just haven't gotten around to it.

Oh okay... So, as Mr. Video mentioned, it is simply an AVS resize issue then. That should be pretty easy for me to do using the CMD line then.

So, please excuse me for asking again, but WHAT exactly does BDRB do with 4k files then?

Does it simply compress the file and make it smaller as it does with HD stuff?

Since, apparently there is no conversion between the 2 formats, WHAT does it do...???

Can I import 4k MKV files? If so, then what can I do with it? I would really appreciate an answer to that please.

2. In most cases, yes. For example, you could create a BD-25 or BD-50 that holds the UHD content from a BD-66 or BD-100. Or it can make a movie-only UHD-BD from it, or it can create an MKV or MP4 from it.

3. Yes you can import 4k MKV files. You can do pretty much anything. You can create a UHD-BD from it. You can recompress it to a different size. You can create a new MKV or MP4. You can resize it while creating the new ALTERNATE format.

In other words, it has now extended its support for BDs so that it also processes UHD-BDs. The most substantial change is that it now supports for HEVC/UHD/4K encoding as well as AVC/SD/HD, as is now included in the updated BD specification.

... and, I am STILL not getting any notifications when someone posts here. What do I hafta do, sacrifice a goat in my backyard or something...?!

Leave Pagans alone, we/they haven't done the Mayan thing for many, many generations, that's a smear job by the other organized one. I hung a rabbit in front of my door for "Rabbit celebration", and it didn't help..never does. But it was funny to watch neighbors expressions...especially door thumpers.

You have to reply a times then doom9.net seems to "remember" for a little while. Laughing!

Poor rabbit...

It was a fake rabbit...artfully done to look real. Not everything is as it seems as typed for Online (Sneeky Laughter). I wouldn't kill one just to mock a religion that has done much worse to a non-organized one. That's against my ethics.

I have playback issues with .29.

Every Universal and Sony discs stop after trailers, when a fast forward the discs runs fine.

PS. Only on Xbox One S, I don't have this problem in a native UHD player.
