Sounds like a setup problem or BD_Rebuilder\tools\tsmuxer.exe missing, can you check to see if this file exists?
If it does, can you try downloading BD-RB and put it in a fresh directory and without changing any settings except loading in the source and working?
If still no luck can you paste your the AUD_<M2TS>.meta file?

My copy of mamma mia crashes on the extras also at the 1080i VC1 encoding part.

EDIT - This is using wmv11 decoder, however most 1080i stuff in VC1 is fine. Could just be that you got unlucky and your discs all have the hybrid VC1...No, I don't do much of this (backups) and indeed slapped Mamma Mia on just to test-out BD-RB, since it has a lot of interesting extras, including a "singalong" track which BTW doesn't appear back-uppable at all.

According to neuron2's tools, there ain't nothin' "hybrid" about these clips, they are just interlaced VC-1. How to ID a hybrid clip--must be a better way than "something that crashes my PC"!

EDIT: OK I loaded-up one of those nasty extras (00289.m2ts) from Mamma Mia! and used neuron2's tool to go step-by-step thru the fields, and it is indeed more odd than anything I've seen before. This clip starts with ABBA concert footage, most likely video camera footage because every field is different (although many are blended--very ugly) and then it cuts to location footage of the cast & crew, which is in a 2,2,2... cadence (same field twice) so was maybe shot with a high-def video camera or something; I dunno but it doesn't seem to be film. Also eac3to calls it "60i /1.001" while MediaInfo says 29.97 so confusion reigns. IIRC in BD-RB the decoder works for a bit before crashing (looks like a x264 error but is clearly decoder) so it must be the 2:2 material it's crashing on, a few seconds into the clip.

Everything works fine now, however I'm a little bit surprised by the final disk space :
Into the Wild : 42.6 Go, and after the process, only 12.8 Go. It seems too low, even though I keep only one audio track.

Hi Jdobbs,

at first nice app,.... ;-)

So, in my case my panasonic bd-55 doesn't play any remastered movie which was made with bd rebuilder when the player is using 24p playback mode, but after deactivate 24p everything is fine.

Any ideas ?

Lif3styl3 I think I remember someone else mention this awhile back and I don't recall a workaround for it. It was before BD-RB came out and I think every compatible encoded video suffers from it.

Perhaps it should be mentioned in the first post of the list of compatible players thread but I'm not sure which Panasonic models are affected besides the BD55. I will check if Panasonic BD30 has the issue.

Hi.

I was doing The Mummy 3 (german). But I got an Error message at build and also at Rebuild (at "CorrectMPLS() 00009 5"):

I can send files, if needed. Costed me alot of time to encode those nasty extras, so I hope it was not a waste of time.

Everything works fine now, however I'm a little bit surprised by the final disk space :
Into the Wild : 42.6 Go, and after the process, only 12.8 Go. It seems too low, even though I keep only one audio track.

I was wondering : is the bitrate accurately determined to use all the space on a BD 25, and thus keep the highest quality possible ?

Yes, it should around BD25 if that's what you've got it set at. (22.5-23.5GB roughly). If it's not hitting that, it could be because you've saturated the quality level as much as is possible and x264 doesn't know what to do with the extra bitrate and isn't needed.

This would make sense on a movie only encode with only one audio stream. Your original Bluray may well be 40GB+ in size but of that 40GB only around half of it will usually be the main move and one audio track, often much less. Couple that with x264 being a very efficient codec and it could be that you've just topped out.

^ my guess anyway ;)

EDIT - What size is the main move before encoding anyway? How many audio tracks are in it to start with and at what quality? This is really obvious information you should be handing over if you want help.

No, I don't do much of this (backups) and indeed slapped Mamma Mia on just to test-out BD-RB, since it has a lot of interesting extras, including a "singalong" track which BTW doesn't appear back-uppable at all.

The sing along track I think is a picture in picture track which BD-Rebuilder currently doesn't handle and just ignores completely.

Sorry if this has already been answered but this thread is getting difficult to read through now, i've just done passion of christ film only to bd-25, somehow (i was tired) lol, i managed to pick the english descriptive audio for blind people! instead of the original aramaic track, is there anyway i can rebuild this project with the correct aramaic audio track & the already encoded workfiles or will i have to start over again?

Sorry for not responding sooner, I work 7 days a week so time is NOT something I have "free".

I ran the first m2ts file through GraphStudio to see how it was being decoded. I get the following;

0064.m2ts to video: WMVideo Decoder DMO (Version 11.0.5721.5145) and to audio: AC3Filter.

I cannot watch this in anything BUT PowerDVD. in WMP11 it shows the first frame of the file, and nothing after that, no crashes or anything.

Anyway, I'm just letting JD know what my experience with the particular movie is. Not expecting any "eureka" moments or a "do this, do that" note on how to get it to work. Just sending as much info as possible to help the beta along as best as possible.

JD keep up the GREAT work!! I'm still a fan of DVD Rebuilder and I know I'll totally LOVE BD Rebuilder once you get it completed. For the most part, it's done, just need to get rid of thoes bugs.... called Orkin yet?? :p

I do hope this helps some.

Hi,

in my case it was enough to deactivate the 24p function of my blu ray player, but there must be a solution to play a reencoded blu ray in bd-55

i have found a bug. its on the extended version of King Kong. i dont think anyone has mentioned it yet.

using the latest version, 0.20.02, the extended version doesn't play. at all. might be some sort of rebuilding/bd-structure mishap. theatrical version plays perfectly, as does bd-live. the extended version plays on the orignal rip on my hdd, so do the picture-in-picture extras. but in the bd-rb rip, these dont work. the counter goes to 0:00:00 and stays there. i am playing the bd .iso files in the latest powerdvd 8.

everything on the original rip is progressive VC-1. it is a multiple file playlist. not sure what else i can provide. here are my files. fyi, i did a fast encode, and i had to abort it and resume it.

The problem is that you decided to continue even though you had a reported sizing issue. So the real question is what caused the sizing issue.

FYI. Slysoft just updated AnyDVD, and one of the fixes is:

Fix (Blu-ray): Playback issues with Panasonic Blu-ray players

so i wonder if re-ripping the discs would fix the panny problem.

also there is a new version of x264. its supposed to improve speeds drastically.

and lastly... is ENCODE_QUALITY=5 the fastest setting that BD-RB can do? i just like doing the same disc a few time with different settings for testing.

Has anyone successfully encoded Enchanted in movie only mode? I encoded it but it apparently has many m2ts files and it gathers some it obviously shouldn't, because when you play it back you get the proper audio but the video is showing things like the interactive pop-up trivia track every now and then, and I cannot seem to find a way to get just the movie complete without the trivia track pop-ups.

Choose a different Playlist from thte alternates (MODE menu).

I'm going to have to find out a better way to choose the main feature than just "the largest" -- I'm just not sure how yet.

Thanks jdobbs that worked fine for video quality A+++ but audio seems to be slightly out of synch throughout movie I suppose from there being multiple m2ts files that were gathered together. I had noticed small blips where each mt2s files were joined and with each one the audio got more out of synch. I am playing on a Panasonic BD30 if that means anything.

I fixed that. I'll release a new version today.

I've posted a new release of BD-Rebuilder on the first page of this thread. Changes are:
- Corrected an error in which the determined total
source size can be distorted. This can result
in undersizing.
- Updated the SETUP dialog follow-on action so the
stream display, settings and tables are updated
following a save. In previous versions the INI
data wasn't being reset based on saved settings.
This may be the cause of many of the "Failed to
rebuild BD file(s)" error caused by a mismatch
between different phases of BD-RB.
- Added code that saves audio/sub configuration at
demux and resets it accordingly at remux.
- Changed default MIN_M2TS_SIZE to default to 100MB
for BD-25 encodes to save time. You can change
the the value with MIN_M2TS_SIZE=nnnn. This has
no effect on BD-5 and BD-9 encodes. It will also
not affect M2TS files that are a part of the main
MPLS>
- INI Editor now reloads INI when saved (you no
longer have to exit/reenter for changes to take
effect).
- Added a Custom Target Size option to the
SETTINGS/OPTIONS menu. You can set the value by
adding CUSTOM_TARGET_SIZE=nnnn to the "[Options]"
area of the config (INI) file.
- Updated X264.EXE to the latest release (r1123).
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.
Note: I've noticed there are issues with M2TSs that have secondary video/audio streams for full backups. Luckily these are rare. I should have that corrected by the next release. In the meantime, I have at least stopped the "crashing" on them.

@jdobbs,

Have been testing out BD Rebuilder on a number of movies after the last few weeks and at the same time keeping up-to-date with the latest version of releases. But I find that during playback on both a Panasonic BD30 and BD35 SAP I see very very slight video “stuttering” and I mean very slight but it is noticeable particularly if you have a scene with what should be constant moment such as a fan rotating or a person walking at a consent speed. It can detract from watching the movie because it can be notice by all once pointed out.

The stuttering is not present if played back via PowerDVD on a PC.

Also If I use process the same movies using "RipBot264" (latest versions over the last few weeks) the playback on the Panny BD30 and BD35 SAP are always perfect i.e. NO slight video stuttering.

I have been using movie only mode with AVCHD high compatibly ON and have tried both the highest and high encoder settings, encoding down to BD9 size.

I am going to give the very latest v0.20.03b a try but this time down convert 1080P to 720P and encode to a BD5 size

Do you have any ideas what could be causing this issue and what settings to change to try a located the issue?

Thanks,:thanks:

Good job, jdobbs!
Keep going, but i have a simple but pertinent question. If 'Movie-Only' with 1 audio has less than 25GB, how to have an image backup without reencoding? As you can confirm, the initial size doesn't change with one or all the audio tracks. So, to the reencoder the image is always superior than 25GB...
Regards.

That trick fixed the problem.

The Bluray disc contents are only 33.9 G. But when BD Rebuilder begins to execute, it sees multiple copies of the main m2ts causing the size to increase to 57.94 G.

I've attached the pictures of each stage for both full backup and movie only backup as well as a picture of the BD Rebuild log. That is the only log generated.

Since I'm creating a BD-9 and the drive I'm creating it on has over 160 G remaining, I don't understand why "The target is too small to continue" message occurs.

Thanks.

Thanks Jerry. I can't wait to try this new version out. The x264.exe crash seems to come and go randomly. My CPU and memory are overclocked mildly but with excellent cooling and stability. I initially thought the x264.exe was related to elevated CPU temperature due to prolong hihg-load CPU usage. I reduce the overclocking rate slightly and the crashing is non-apparent during the rebuilding process. But other times the crash doesn't appear at all even at overclocked rates. I cannot tell whether the x264.exe crash was due to high CPU temperature (of around 40c) or whether it is due to a programming error or bug.

How difficult would it be to say add a feature where you could double click on a video icon to signal that you want to just copy that m2ts intact like you can to enable/disable audio tracks to also help overcome with mixed interlaced/progressive content problem.

While I appreciate being able to use the min vts method but if the problematic file is say >1or2GB this also means that there is alot of overhead from many other files that can be sucessfully re-encoded.

40c is not high for a CPU. my E8400 runs at around 60c when encoding. no problems.

Thanks,:thanks:Not a clue, especially since both BD-RB and RipBot264 use exactly the same encoder and muxer... but I can tell you that those players are very sensitive. I think it may be possible the RipBot264 uses level 4.0 for encoding (not positive, though) and BD-RB uses level 4.1 -- but by the specs BD is supposed to be 4.1.

That'll work on BD-R backups, but not on BD-5/9 (the max bitrate is too high).

I always do full backups and choose the disc type depending on the amount of content so its very rare I use BD-5 but as a general rule anything upto around 3 hours ill use BD-9 and for everything else its BD-25 but I always test using arcsoft TMT and if that plays OK all burn to a BD-RE to test in my player (Sony BDP-S350) before i commit to a BD-R.

Also is there a way to detect and warn of possible mixed content when BD-RB does its initial scan of the source files because ive tried quite a few music discs and TV shows and you will usually find at least one i/p file and as a habit now I always try to encode every 1080i file using movie only and selecting the alternate playlists and let it run for 10 mins because it can be quite annoying when the full disc finishes and it fails on the last VTS because of this issue.

Another thing ive noticed also is when the extras are 480i 16:9 on the source after encoding and rebuilding they turn out 4:3 and vertically stretched.

True, Ripbot encodes to 4.0 profile apparently.

@jdobbs,
Looks like you may have corrected the problem I was having with Nights In Rodanthe with this "BD-RBV02003" latest release. I just copied over the BD-RB.exe, since I kept the previous workfiles, and rebuild completed successfully this time, no more error " CorrectMPLS() 00009 5". :)
Thanks for your continued excellent work, efforts and diligence on this program. Just to be certain, I will completely redo the whole movie with this new release, and report back. :thanks:

EDIT: I guess I spoke too soon and should have tried to play the movie first. Though it did "Rebuild" successfully, the movie does not play after burning to disc. Only intro warning plays, then no other video plays. I will redo the whole project fresh and see how it goes. Sorry for my premature/optimistic report, but hopefully there will still be success!

Yes BD-RB uses L4.1 vs. 4.0 in x264 commands, but RipBot264 uses 25000 for vbv-maxrate and bufsize also --nal-hrd

BD-RB uses an "ancient" version of tsMuxeR vs. RipBot264, otherwise same .metas I think.

@Discoboy maybe the --nal-hrd is the issue? That's what I'd look at first I guess.

@Discoboy maybe the --nal-hrd is the issue? That's what I'd look at first I guess. The 25000 is too high (in MHO) -- I use 17500 for BD-5/9 and 25000 for BD-25, but that wouldn't make a difference. The --nal-hrd I'll have to check out.

I use the "ancient" version of TSMUXER because all the new ones introduce new bugs -- including crashes. I'll stay "ancient" because it works...

The 25000 is too high (in MHO)
25mbps is maximum for high 4.0 profile
62.5mbps is maximum for high 4.1 profile
