i have burned 7 copies of public enemies and each one of them it freezes after the 5min mark and intermediately through out the entire film, i used the bd-r 25gb setting, and it plays fine on the pc but no matter what blu ray player you play it on, it does that, is it a problem with the way it rebuilded the movie?

Hi and thanks,
what else is removed? i encoded again keeping the french dts-hd stream (there are 2 dts-hd and 2 ac3 audio streams- disk is district 9) and it increased to 17.3GB. the remaining two audio streams are ac3 and should be smaller- and it does indeed say video is not changed. adding back the ac3 would probably take it up to 18GB at the most. what is the other roughly 5GB that is lost? i'm just asking for curosity; i love the program.
while here, will it ever be able to handle a BD like dvd shrink does a dvd, removing individual tracks and keeping the rest? or being able to "x out" the video streams like you can do with the audio streams now?
thanks again.
JC"x"ing out the video streams

I guess you mean extras, etc? It'll eventually allow you to pick what complete streams to keep... not yet, though.

Are you doing a full backup or movie-only?

Are you doing a full backup or movie-only?

im doing full backup, i just wish i knew what would cause the issue, i wouldnt think the certificate folder or something could be wrong or anything right? trying to narrow it down.

since im doing full backup is there any options you would try setting for it? cause if you didnt have any problems i would like to know the settings you chose

also when i use build in imgburn, do you add the bdmv & certificate folder or delete the one anydvd gives you and let imgburn add one for you?

If you're having a problem with v0.31.06 -- report it for a fix. It doesn't do anybody any good to go back to an old version. How does that help the beta development?

HI guys, i am new here but not on blu-ray ripping thing. You see i have a medium collection of bd movies and want to rip the movies only and the dts master audio track and they hover around 20gig. I don't have a blu ray drive so i use my ps3 with YDL 6.2 to make iso to network folder and then mount the image with virtual clone drive from slysoft, run anydvd hd, i then mount that resulting iso and treat it with bd rebuilder latest 0.31.06 and all the extra, ffdshow, haali, avisinth. Everything go perfect, i see the m2ts movie file and all audio+subtitles and of course i check the dts master audio file and uncheck all others(for purpose of testing i tried full movie and all audio or a mix of 1+2+3.....to see if at least i would get 5.1 sound). Anyway all goes well and finish with no error with the right size resulting file. I use ps3 media server to play all my dvd rip iso or ts video or anything very well and the audio 5.1 dolby digital i chose in case of dvds, the blu-ray rip video is perfect(1920X1080) but audio always end up being DD 2channels, so no dts hd 5.1 even tough i picked only this one from the start. Even when trying to play with pc via powerdvd 9 or arcsoft total media theater best for m2ts files, again 2 channels. I tryied everything from tsmuxer, clown bd,10 different bd rip software, using previous version or new ones, daemon tools instead of slysoft virtual drive. I do not necesarely burn them, just keep'em on 1TB hdd from steaming to ps3. When bd reb. finish analyzing disc it says -audio ac3=0- dts=0- hd=1-kbps=640.Why!!! I am running vista home premium and ultimate on 2 different pc with always same result, help me please countless hours without success are making me go nuts...sorry for the long post, if someone has ideas can send to matyza@live.ca thanks:confused:

AVCHD doesn't support DTS -- so the audio has to be converted. If, however, the source is 5.1 or 7.1 -- the output will be DD 5.1. BD-RB never converts anything to DD 2.0 -- that can ONLY happen if the original was 2.0. Also, if you are outputting to anything smaller than a BD-25 (regardless of the "strict" setting), the audio output will be the DTS core rather than the full HD stream. That's purposeful, because HD audio is just too big to fit on anything less than a BD-25 and will ruin your video quality.

Hi Jdobbs,

Great program! It would be useful when you post a new version, if you could include a link in the first message to the message where you've announced the latest version so it's easy to see what's been changed/fixed.

Thanks!

Thanks for taking the time to look at this jdobbs. Hmmm... if it's not there, then I'd say that's why you're getting the error. There has to be a .AVS file for each of the audio streams -- it is used for the encoding. There might be several of them (depending upon the track) -- but in your case the file would be AUD_00004_4352.AVS. I should have been clearer (now that I think about it, the error message is a little misleading also). Is it possible your system is hiding the extension ".AVS"?

Ok jdobbs and Capsbackup Here is the AUD_00004_4352AVS:
#Created by BD Rebuilder - v0.31.06 (beta)
LoadPlugin("C:\BD-RBV03106\tools\nicaudio.dll")
audio=NicAC3Source("00004.track_4352.ac3").Amplify(1.2)
audio = (AudioChannels(audio) > 6) ? GetChannel(audio,1,2,3,4,7,8) : audio
audio

There is a AUD_00004_4352 AC3 file but it has 0 KB

The last one is the Audio windows batch file:

"C:\BD-RBV03106\tools\wavi.exe" "H:\BLU-RAY\REBUILDS\WORKFILES\AUD_00004_4352.AVS" - | "C:\BD-RBV03106\tools\aften.exe" -v 1 -b 640 -readtoeof 1 - "H:\BLU-RAY\REBUILDS\WORKFILES\AUD_00004_4352.AC3"

Thanks for the help.

After my initial posting about errors with Revenge Of The Fallen I completely uninstalled and reinstalled everything to do with BDRebuilder and have managed to get DVD-9 movie only backups of Revenge Of The Fallen & Terminator Salvation sized down to 720P with the best encoder settings and the results are amazing even compared to their 1080P master copy's.

But now Origins Wolverine keeps failing when attempting to retrieve audio/subs causing TSMuxer to crash. I have uninstalled, cleaned registry and then reinstalled everything once again and the same problem.... any possible ideas?

I am experiencing an issue with BD-RB for quite a long time (many versions). I was always reluctant to report it as I saw no one else ever did, but it's so annoying that I figured - what the heck.

Every single time BD-RB starts an encode (calling x264) it will then soon pick a window (randomly? I have yet to detect a pattern, but it's usually a window I'm using) and just freeze it. I mean, the window (can be MS-Word, Firefox, even calculator!) just stops responding. It seems that the program itself is still active (writing/reading files, processing), but the GUI freezes.

At this point I have three choices: 1) Wait for the current encoding step to finish, after which the window regains its responsiveness. 2) brutally end task and relaunch the program. Or 3) abort the current encode (or end x264.exe task) and restart the encode.

I might also mention that sometimes the window that's being frozen is BD-RB's itself! It usually happens when I switch from one window to another, etc.

If I remember correctly, this problem started appearing after you solved the "Cannot find window" bd-rb error many users were reporting and you spent many versions trying to fix (don't remember the exact error message, but I'm sure you know what I mean).

I contacted the x264 developer who's active in this thread, and he said this is likely BD-RB's fault and not x264's.

My setup is Windows 7 x64. If you need additional information I'll be happy to provide it. Hope this gets sorted out :)

I'm also using Windows 7 x64 for my encodes, and I've never experienced anything even remotely like what you are describing. Is it only the one window that is affected (others are still functioning)?

One possibility -- what priority are you using from the ENCODER menu? Try setting it to IDLE priority and see if it has an effect.

Meanwhile I'll go back to the code related to the window find and see if I see anything odd happening.

[Edit] Well I went through the code -- and it most certainly isn't related to the window find. It's actually a pretty simple process. Since this is happening only to you -- I have to assume that it isn't something within BD-RB itself but rather something in your system or setup. If I get any other reports I'll follow up again.

I installed BD-Rebuilder from this site and installed it exactly according to your instructions and I have had no problems encoding and rebuilding to BD-5s and BD-25s. I am using ImgBurn and all the DVD-Rs and BD-25s I burned play perfectly with no problem so far.

I did burn two BD-RE 25s (one Optical Quantum and one Verbatim) and neither will play on my Panasonic BMP-605. I get the error “Cannot read. Please Check the Disk” for a BD-5 file set (as a test - no reason to do this for real) and also for a BD-25 file set. My thought was to use the BD-RE to test different options without wasting a BD-R. The BD-REs will load and read for a while but about the time the menu or movie would come up is when the error message is displayed.

According to the manual, both BD-R and BD-RE are supported by the DMP-605 as BD-V. The only difference I can see is that the BD-R needs Version 2 of the BD-R format and BD-RE needs Version 3 of the BD-RE format.

I am not sure you call this a bug but this is the only problem I have had so far. You have done a great job and it is much better than anything I can find commercially and I have contributed to help your efforts. This is my first post on this site, so if I bent any protocols please be merciful.

I am pretty sure that this is not related to my issue but in case you want a data point, I am using Windows 7 RC with all the patches. I do run BD-Rebuilder from another folder besides Program Files(x86) folder and VC-1 is set on WM9 as the instructions recommend.

:thanks:

The encoder is set to idle. And yes, once a window is frozen, all others continue to function properly and no other will freeze.
Wish I had an angle on what's causing it. This only happens with BD-RB. Nothing else.

By any chance do you have CoreAVC installed? I've only seen this happen on my system if I have CoreAVC set as the default decoder.

Hi, I have done three backups of Transporter 3 and all have failed to play correctly on my pc and bd-re bluray disc. Bd-rebuilder has no error messages; all seem to go through ok. The first two times were set at CRF pass mode and the third on 2 pass mode. The picture is broken up with distorted sound; the original file (31.8 GB) plays ok. I have done backups before and they played ok. I’m using v0.31.05 and doing full backup on bd-25, any help appreciated.

...... But now Origins Wolverine keeps failing when attempting to retrieve audio/subs causing TSMuxer to crash. I have uninstalled, cleaned registry and then reinstalled everything once again and the same problem.... any possible ideas?
TsmuxeR has (exceptionally) a problem with certain sups when resizing to 720p (see earlier posts) in DB-RB. I don't know if Wolverine Origins is one of the problematic discs. You may try again with the sups disabled, or leave it at the original 1080p resolution.

Added:
I just did a quick test with Wolverine 720p. Seems to be no problem here .....

Hi,

Many thanks Jdobbs for a great program!! I've managed to complete a few BD25 "movie only" backups with no problems, however when playing with the "full backup" all goes well but when I play it in my Sony BDP-S360 when it gets to the menu there is no background or sound playing?? the menu works ok (so does the sound as you move the cursor on the menu) and lets me play the movie and extras, when I play the disc on my PC using PowerDVD 8 the whole thing works fine with the menu background playing etc, and my friend tried one on his Philips BD player and it worked fine on there too! I have followed your instructions implicitly using the exact software and versions you have stated, as well as the settings on my BDP-S360 but no joy, I've tried 2 different discs on "full backup" with the same result, any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks Is0

Well jdobbs, I searched my C drive to make sure there is no other aften.exe. No other one found. I re unzipped BD Rebuilder 3106 and copy and pasted aften.exe into the tools folder. Interesting enough the new unzipped aften.exe windows showed it as 267kb, The old aften.exe as 266kb.

I remounted the image in Daemon tools lite and tried running the .BAT file by double-clicking on it again but still getting the same error. Is ther any other way I can get the audio to work?
AS I said before I am using the Milotis guide for a lack of another more up to date guide. Seems like if I can get buy the aften.exe part everything else looks good.

THanks again for all your help. I am now thinking of starting again from scratch and reincode the whole movie again and see if it continues to happen unless you have any other ideas.:thanks:

@blusky;
Since you have mentioned: I remounted the image in Daemon tools lite I would like to suggest a different approach.
If you use ANYDVD HD, can you try to rip the disc to hard drive folder, not an image, and run BD-RB all over again ( I know, it can take a long time  )
I, and many others, use this method, and have not experienced this issue before. This will also remove one potential software conflict, Daemon Tools, from the backup.

Yes, the standalone player just spat it out as unreadable, I have just backed up Death race (movie only) and that plays ok, although the output size is only 18 GB (is that normal?). Could it be a bad rip, but then it would not play on the pc?

Could it be a bad rip, but then it would not play on the pc? That usually means that the original is small, and after removing whatever streams you've chosen to remove -- the original video can be used without reencoding. That's a good thing -- because it is always better not to reencode unless you have to.

I just did a backup of a disc the other day in which the original disc with all audio/pgs streams was only 18GB.

Hi! If you want to see hour to do it by hand (with BDEdit) -- read this thread.Unless I've misinterpreted that thread, doesn't it provide the means for turning on an ENTIRE subtitle stream and not just the true "Forced Subpics" that may exist as flagged items within a full subtitle stream (If BluRay handles this in the same fashion as standard DVDs)?
