View Full Version : BD Rebuilder Beta - Bug Reports Only

Hi,
I have been experimenting with BDRebuilder with a Jamiroquai concert full backup to 25GB
The orginal is a shade over 40GB.
Whichever setting I use (high speed 25GB, default 2-pass etc) the smoothness of the original is not there. It is originally a 1080i according to Rebuilder but the resolution is 1920x1080 - isn't that 1080p?
ANyway, on playback it seems a lot less fluid. The movements are a little jerky and blurry whereas the original was smooth. Could it be something to do with interlacing / deinterlacing? Have I got it right - should it be 1080p at that resolution?? (I'm new to this so don't flame me!)
Screenshots attached...
After following the setup instructions I can't get WMV11 to install on Windows 7 - don't know whether this may affect it or not.
My other backups seem fine - just this one that's frustrating me.
An aside issue - anyone using High SPeed mode when doing full backups to BD25? Just wondered if you noticed any difference.
Cheers in advance

What happen with this?
Last encodes have this problem.
Thanks
Same problem for me with v.0.30.04:
- [22:33:50] Extracting A/V streams [VID_00000]
- [22:39:35] Reencoding: VID_00000 (1 of 1)

You can -- but if it actually is saturation -- it won't change anything.
Here's an example of what I'm talking about from your INF file:
For 00127.M2TS, BD-RB passed a bitrate to X264 that should result in a final (muxed) filesize of over 1187MB:
M2TS_TARGET=1187828657
But, looking at the output, you see that the actual size came out to be a little under 300MB.
NSIZE=291373056
The only other possibility I can think of is if you stopped the job at some point -- changed the audio settings (removing something), and then resumed, and I'm not even positive that would do it. If it were a miscalculation of some type, it would show in pretty much every encode -- so I don't think that's the issue.
I assume you weren't using one-pass encoding? Also, I can't really tell if this was movie-only because you didn't post the LOG.

Hi!
It might prove helpful if you stated the title and region of your original BluRay discs that have resulted in the problems you've indicated...

@kanerulz69;
When you read the log file, BD-RB is not reencoding any files, just stripping audio/subs and rebuilding. No quality change is taking place. :)
EDIT:
Only some files are reencoded. :p

the only way i was able to get it up to 22gb was going to the folder where the original lost boys rip folder was and copied the STREAM files that were encoded one at the time and pasted them over the ones BD-RB did and did that til it got to 22GB but never had to do that with any other movies.

Before version 30.01 not problem, but from this version i cannot play on standalone, the sound on my receiver is identified like Dolby Digital but the sound is bad, have up and down volume.
is necesary to select 448 kbs on dvd-9???
what is the best setting for dvd-9???
thanks in advance, and i sorry for my english

EDIT:
Only some files are reencoded. :p Which, of course, explains the undersize... when you take out the audio that was selected for removal, it is already small enough to fit. BD-RB isn't going to reencode the original video just to make it larger -- that's crazy talk.
Of course if you wanted to do something ridiculously silly like that you could set "FORCE_ENCODE=1" in the INI.

Hey all,
Recently I've had a couple of rebuilds yield some sync problems. Each time, it was with extras (featurettes, trailers, etc.) and not the main feature. Is there a known issue that would yield such a problem? Or, does anyone have any suggestions as to what might cause such a thing?

Cheers in advance No. It shouldn't be 1080p. HD in 1080 comes in two flavors, 1920x1080i and 1920x1080p.

The 2 I've seen it on thus far are My Bloody Valentine (remake) and Dead & Buried. In both cases, the features themselves were fine, but trailers/featurettes were severely out of sync (5 seconds or more)

I have had sync problems with the main movie on "Drag Me to Hell". If I copy movie only it's in sync and if I do 1:1 (48GB) in sync, but if backup whole disc to 25 GB the movie is out of sync from the beging to the end. Any ideas?

Oh ok. Can there be another reason why it looks less fluid? Something to do with deinterlacing? even if I do a movie only encode I still get this problem. The best way I can describe it is like in the old days when you used to get the field order wrong in CCE. Its not as bad as that but similar. For example, when the drummer is drumming, there is a blurry effect in his drumsticks beating that was not there in the original. Frame rate poroblem possibly (My TV is a 1080i Samsing 32" PAL if that helps, but obviously they all do PAL / NTSC these days anyway)

W/ 30.04, Snow White, Region 1, When I select Play Movie I have 2 options, orig 4x3, and another option of Disney View. The Disney View puts still images in the bookend areas, kind of a nice feature, instead of having black there. However in BD-RB when I select Movie Only, Alternate Playlist shows 2 playlists. I ran both thru BD-RB, the first one was the 4x3 version, the 2nd was an extras on the disk. How can I get the Disney View version as a movie only? Thanks jdobbs.

My movie encode fails immediately because BD Rebuilder is trying to create a file name that is larger than Windows can handle. Maximum file name is 260 characters (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa365247(VS.85).aspx) and the file name in the below log is 275 characters.

Here's one jdobbs! Full backup to BD-9. Everything basically default except I use an 8150 target. For encode, I have quick xtras, 2 pass HQ on main.
Everything is great until we get to the special features. They're all good except for all 3 trailers & one old documentary. Those 4 are WAY OOS....., like 3 to 5 seconds!
The OOS Vid#'s are: 0032, 0033, 0037 & 0051
Also if I recall, in the "streams" box, there was a couple of vids with asterisks behind them. BUT, those * vids ended up fine.

Unfortunately I've been really busy in my "real paying job" and haven't been able to spend much time on BD-RB... hopefully I'll get caught up soon. I told BD Rebuilder not to re-encode AC3 but it looks like it's spending at least a few min processing the file:
- [15:08:34] Reencoding audio tracks (if req'd)
- [15:11:38] Multiplexing M2TS
Is that normal?
- Audio Settings: AC3=0 DTS=0 HD=0 Kbs=640

Like I said, pretty much default, with an 8200 target, plus quick extras & 2P HQ for encode. With that 8200 target, the project ended up at "7.89 GB (8,477,086,476 bytes)".
I recently dialed my target down to 8150 'cause that 7.89GB number was about 65MB short of oversize.

Hi!
I'm guessing that the "bookend" static images may actually be contained in a subpic file...
The bookend images change thru the movie, different scenes have different images. It's not 1 for the entire movie. Even so, it doesn't sound like BD-RB is ready to handle a movie only w/ this 'feature' yet.

@meadrocksSo how can I get BD-RB to back it up?By including/selecting the applicable subpic stream (If my guess is correct) in your BD-RB setup for this disc.
By doing so, when playing your burned BD-RB BluRay disc, hopefully, you'll simply have to use your remote or keyboard to select the subtitle stream...
The bookend images change thru the movie, different scenes have different images. It's not 1 for the entire movie.Yes, so what's your point? That's the same type of behavior you see with text-like subtitles...
(My reference to "static" images meant STILL versus MOVING images...)

I just tried transformers 2 to bd-25 movie only....all was ok..perfect, except one spot on the movie has about 1 second of a series of macroblocks all along the bottom of the encode. Any idea why this would occur. It does not appear in the original..only in the encode. other than that, perfect.

At what time into the movie does this occur? I did not see anything on mine. Unless I blinked at that moment. :p

18:24 at bottom of frame...again it is not there on original rip, so occurred during encode I guess....is it possible to redo encode with same stats file? Took a long time to encode...looks perfect except for that...bizarre.

Took a long time to encode...looks perfect except for that...bizarre. I just bought that one today. I'll run it through and see if I get anything similar. Unfortunately, while you can reuse the stats file, you would also need the file that is used for mb-tree -- and BD-RB automatically removes that after a successful encode (because it's rather large).

maybe it is just at my end...who knows....really perfect except for that 1 sec part LOL...but is noticeable.
Maybe as a suggestion, if I may, can you make it so that mb-tree thing is not removed. I have a ton of drives...perhaps an option to specify where it can be stored so one could use it later?
nice program though....congrats so far!!!
one thing I did do is update x264 to 1301, but I doubt that should make a difference for 1 sec or so

Could be a VBV issue.Do you mean the processing -- or the could it be the setting used?

what does this mean? " - Switching to FFMS2.DLL for decoding." everytime this shows up the end result is audio sync issues, 3 times this happened in BD9 movie only

Do you mean the processing -- or the could it be the setting used?Neither; x264 will react strongly if it ever nears a VBV underflow.

Hmmm... I looked at the changes for the next release (v0.30.01) and I didn't see anything that would have any effect on the playback of audio.
on others threads i look problems like order of channels on encoder, can you chech this??
thanks in advance

My movie encode fails immediately because BD Rebuilder is trying to create a file name that is larger than Windows can handle. Maximum file name is 260 characters (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa365247(VS.85).aspx) and the file name in the below log is 275 characters.

I guess I run into the same problem here

Such long concatenated strings seem to be not so unusual for discs containing extended version and theatre version.
I was lucky though that by shortening the path I could just make it fit.

what does this mean? " - Switching to FFMS2.DLL for decoding." everytime this shows up the end result is audio sync issues, 3 times this happened in BD9 movie only It means you don't have the primary decoder(s) configured properly using FFDSHOW/HAALI (see the first post of this thread)-- so it is switching to FFMS2.DLL for decoding as a backup rather than saying "encoding failed".
As for audio sync issues -- I'd need a lot more information like "what disc", "what settings", "what version", "status log", "INF file", and any other appropriate details so I can see if FFMS2 is having problems with that source.

Could be a VBV issue.
can this occur only in one spot though? Maybe there are others..who knows. Is there a way to see for sure? Not sure if under/overflows logged anywhere or not

can this occur only in one spot though? Maybe there are others..who knows. Is there a way to see for sure? Not sure if under/overflows logged anywhere or notSure, it can occur only in one spot. The current algorithm is very good, so if it fails, it will likely fail rarely.
Some notes about VBV: a slow firstpass will significantly improve VBV on the second pass. 1-pass VBV is probably more accurate than 2-pass with a fast first pass. Finally, very large numbers of threads will reduce the accuracy of VBV.

Definitely not here either! Full Movie (Everything), BD-25, Hi-Speed, One pass ABR. Completed in 2 hours and 12 minutes with an almost 2 year old Stock Pentium Quad Q6700. :) Taking the shortest path.
Amazing Quality! Best Ever!! :D

You're likey to have more audio than the BD9 (DL DVD) disc can accomodate, leaving no room for the movie itself.
