Try adding MIN_M2TS_SIZE=700 to the BDREBUILDER .ini file. You can copy and past it from the HIDDENOPTS.TXT file. This should keep the menus from being re-encoded (I think this command means do not re-encode anything under 700 Mb). If you still have the problem try a larger number. I use this command this for all concert blu-rays because for some reason thier menus refuse to work after being re-encoded.Hey Willobee,
I have been trying for weeks to get Groundhog Day Region A to work in my Panasonic BD-35. I ripped and transcoded as BD25 full disk and the studio logo would play but would go no further. It would not play the Blu-ray ad video or the menus.
I tried your trick above and lo and behold, my Panasonic will now play the BD25 complete with menus. All other movies that I have tried (except for Drag Me To Hell) worked so I could not figure out why Groundhog Day would not. Now I am going to try Drag Me To Hell with the same setting and see what happens.
So the Panasonic BD-35 is very picky about what get transcoded.
Thank you for your tip. I am very please that it worked.
Jdobbs, thanks again for the great program and all the hard work you are putting into it. A donation will definitely be coming your way.
From what I understand, Menus use a different MiniCR than the movie does. That may be causing the problem.

@ViolentA79
What did you use to rip 2012? I've had a few instances reported recently of oddities happening with DVDFab rips. I always use AnyDVD.
At the point you experienced the error (2203) BD-RB is in a loop copying unchanged files from the source to the target... that's a weird place to get an error.

[17:12:37] - Failed to build structure, abortedIt couldn't encode the segment -- probably because of CODEC issues. Look in FFDSHOW setup and make sure you have MPEG-2 set to "libavcodec". If that is correct, look and make sure you don't have any "codec packs" installed. They can screw up things. Check and make sure you are using FFDSHOW v3133 and AVISYNTH v2.57.
Upgrade to v0.32.05 (see the first post of this thread). The one you are using has issues.

Ok, I uninstalled everything and reinstalled the software listed at the beginning of this guide. A/V extracting is only using 1-15% of my cpu even on normal and it is taking forever. Then it just errors out when going to decode stating ffdshow (3133). If I try to run REG_MSCOMCTL under admin it just gives me an error regarding mscomctl.ocx. The exact error I cannot recall but can get it when I get home. I have also tried deleting and using a new instance of BD Rebuilder.
The first time I ran BD Rebuilder it had to make a registry change to DirectShow btw. Dont know if this is the same thing as the REG file is trying to do but I would assume it would let me rerun it but there must be another problem.
Just a side note, if I try to use Shark007 codecs the A/V extract (if it runs without an x264 error) is very fast, using 90%+ of both my cores.
If anyone has any ideas or has had these problems, I would appreciate the help.
Edit: I will post the log and exact errors when I get home tonight.

Your post isn't making any sense. You're telling me that somehow the codecs are affecting the extract when in fact the two are completely unrelated. Then you tell me that you get an error when you try to run REG_MSCOMCTL... and I can't see why you are even running it since you only need to if you get an error saying "MSCOMCTL isn't installed". The error is probably telling you it won't register it because it's already registered. Last you tell me that installing the Shark007 codecs somehow miraculously makes the audio extract go faster... even though the extract is done by TSMUXER and never references the codecs in any manner whatsoever (and hardly uses any CPU).
In other words... huh????
I think you are confused. Something else is going on with your computer.

What dont you understand?
With Shark007 the a/v extract goes very fast if it starts at all. Most of the time it will just popup an x264 error. The exact error I have to retrieve when I get home. Why did I tell you this? I don't know, because I thought the more information I give the better someone could help me. I have absolutely no idea why Shark007 would allow BD Rebuilder to extract the a/v quicker but it does for me. I can't use it though because of the x264 error I receive.
When I uninstall Shark007 and just install the recommended software at the beginning of this page the a/v extract goes extremely slow, taking probably 2 hours to extract and only using 1-15% of my CPU the whole time. I didn't know if this is supposed to be a CPU intensive process or what software it uses, I just know that it seems to take unreasonably long based on what others are saying on here.
Once it is done extracting the a/v it begins to encode or decode (whichever it is) but spits back a very basic error, again I have to retreive this info when I get home. It basically just says something like the error is ffdshow (3133). If I install a different version of ffdshow it gives the exact same error but changes the version number of course.
You say that it just uses tsmuxer, is this built in or is it your own version? I ask because using the stand alone tsmuxer it is very fast for me, often taking about 30min. Using Ripbot it demuxes files in about the same amount of time.
I can't say for certain there isn't a problem with my system but the only issue I appear to be having is with BD Rebuilder or one of the required pieces of software it uses.
Why did I run the REG_MSCOMCTL? Because searching through this page one user suggested to another that it be done and since I was uninstalling everything and starting from scratch I thought I should too.
@mochevolete;
Try this:
uninstall your ffdshow, haali and avisynth. Reboot. Download the supported ones at the first page of this bug report thread. Install them.
Then unzip a fresh new BD-RB, right click on "REG_MSCOMCTL.BAT" and select run it as administrator."
Then, if that does not work, right click on BD_Rebuilder.EXE and select "Run as Administrator" .
You should be ready to go.

Sigh... I understand what you said perfectly. But I'm telling you it is nonsense.
I'm done with this conversation... you're looking for an argument and I don't have time for it.
You understand, yet you say my post doesn't make sense. So clearly you don't understand. Btw, I am not trying to start an argument. If I wanted that there are a lot more creative ways to go about it. It certainly looks like you are looking for an argument though, saying what I am telling you is nonsense.
Please, don't get defensive about your software. I am just asking for help. If you have nothing to contribute then by all means do ignore my posts. However, saying it must just be my computer is a cop out. I understand this program is in beta and might not work with all setups but that is not at the fault of my system. It is a limitation of the software.
Also, I was not saying that ffdshow was the reason for or against a/v extract running fast or slow. I merly relaying what I was seeing to happen on my computer. If you choose to disbelieve me that that is fine.
Truthfully, I am here because I don't understand how all this works. I believe I said that in another post. Please don't fall under the impression that I know every in and out of decoding, encoding or recoding.
So, does ANYONE ELSE have any ideas on what might the problem be or has anyone else had any of these specific problems?
Thanks

I should also go over to everyone's house and sing "cum-bah-yah" with them to make sure they aren't offended when I state simple facts.

Go read the first response you typed to me on the other thread. You have had a problem since the first word you typed.
Did I ever once say I didn't appreciate the work you put into the program? No, I was just asking for help with it.
Did I specifically ask you for help? Absolutely not!
Did I ever say that I expected anything more of you? Nope!
The program isn't working for me and you just jump to the conclusion that what I am saying is nonsense and the problem is on my end. Yeah, you are really trying to help people out. I rather you not respond at all then act the way you are. You have some serious social issues.
You know what forget it, if I have to post in this thread for help it isn't worth it. Not letting you take whatever frustration you have out on me.
Good luck with the program .. and the attitude.

Any time you have to write more than one paragraph as a response, you are defending yourself -- not making a point. This is a thread for bug reports, not arguments. In my second response I said that is what you were looking for (an argument), and your last two posts have only proven that point.
Do you honestly think your need to be perceived as "right" isn't obvious in your responses? I explained clearly in my first response that there is something else at fault because the codec pack is not involved in the extraction. That should have been enough -- but you had to then respond with a lengthy diatribe to defend your position. If you truly want to "understand how all this works" then listen when you are told.
Suck it up and move on. I'm trying to do some real work here.

Hey Willobee,
I have been trying for weeks to get Groundhog Day Region A to work in my Panasonic BD-35.

Not my trick. I learned this by searching and reading this thread. My advice to anyone with questions about this program is to do the same. Rather than post the question search and read you shall find an answer to your questions.
@jodobbs
Your hard work is very much appreciated by all, anyways hang in there and thanks for all of your efforts.

Hey Willobee,
I thought the problem was solved until I tested my BD25 of Groundhog Day a little more.
What works:
The menu, playing movie from the menu, selecting audio and subtitle options from the menu, scene selection from the menu and only some special features from the menu (deleted scenes, previews).
What doesn't work:
3 of the special feature videos selected from the special features menu. The video freezes and I have to stop or eject.
I used PROCESS_SECONDARY=0 (audio is DTS Express and doesn't work anyway) & MIN_M2TS_SIZE=700 BD Rebuilder .32.05.
Any other suggestion to try to have it work 100%? Appreciate any suggestions
Thanks for reading!

^I honestly have no idea. And I don't have time to rent and watch the Groundhog Day BD, so I can't really investigate anything.
My suggestions.
1) Look at the videos and see what's different about each of them. Resolution, Framerate, audio track, etc.
2) Try creating a custom blu-ray with just the special feature video (recompressed, of course) and see if your player plays it. The problem may be the BD menu structure and not the video.

Using 0.32.05 I have English Language & English Subtitles selected by default to keep. Last night I ran Run Lola Run & La Femme Nikita in batch mode, selecting the German & French track & unselecting the English dubbed track on both. However the final output had the English track on both. These were Movie Only to BD5 output. I haven't tried them 1 at a time yet. Wonder if this is a batch mode problem.

The way I'm trying to keep the audio selections in batch is a little messy. I'll take a relook.

I'm a newbie to this stuff as well as this forum. So please try to be understanding if I am missing some things that seem elementary to you guys.
The video part of my backup of Batman, The Dark Knight is failing to play on both my PC and my PS3. (Interestingly, if I go to the working files and open the stream, the movie plays on VLC with no problems).
When inserted in the computer the, Power DVD 9 comes up, and the disc copy seems to start fine. But as soon as the WB Home Video logo, and Age Warning logo is over, the image becomes differant shades of gray and magnified and stretched so that only the far left half or so of the screen is shown on the monitor. Throughout the movie the entire image is differant shades of pale gray, with, sometimes some tints of light blue. This pale gray picture and partial image renders the movie unwatchable.
Frustratingly, audio remaions fine and all the special features as well as the disc menu and navigation controls seem to work, with the image being clear and the colors correct when I trigger the appropriate special feature. But, the playback of the actual movie stays pale gray and distorted.
When I try to play the same copy in the PS3 the audio comes through, but after all the pre-movie screens are over, instewad of pale gray, the screen goes completely dark. Similar to the computer playback, I get full audio.. but instead of a grayed out streched partial image I get on the computer, I get absolutely no video image (the screen remains dark). Just like the computer, on the PS 3 I can again pull up the navigation bar and jump around to differant scenes as well as the special features, but this time (unlike the computer) when I go to the "special features" I get the audio and a dark screen.
Incidently, when I went to the computer after the BD-R process was complete there was only a Windows message over the Power DVD 9 welcome screen saying something to the nature that "The DVD was stopped because the graphics card was not adequate". Also, if I go into the "working files" directory and pull up the movie stream, then everything plays fine in VLC!?!
I have tried reinstalling and so far have burned two disks.. only to get the same results.
My computer is a Gateway SX-2840 with an Intel Core i3 CPU (530@2.93 GHZ 4 MB L3 cache) and has 6GB of DDR3 Ram. The computer is new, and completely unmodified except for a Pioneer BDR-205 which I swapped into the old DVD tray.
I still need to learn about how to save these back-ups to hard disk array so I can set up my entertainment system properly and retrieve my media from a server, and I'm also interested in exploring other aspects of this program, like precisely which of the audio options need to be checked in order to preserve the true HD audio of the discs, but all I care about right now is getting the BD-25 to work. That, to me, would be quite an accomplishment.
Any help in non tech wording would be greatly appreciated by this novice.

Sorry I'm late with this jdobbs, but that was an AnyDVD rip. It did something i never saw before... asked me where i wante to save the files or something so i picked the same folder the rip was in.... i have my suspicions that it wiped the folder, and my rip, and thus failed. I am using different folders this time to see if i get a different result. Also, i did a DVDFab rip and my computer crashed every time i tried to convert that rip.

I have tested BD-RBV03205 on a full backup to BD-25 of The Matrix, Region A, with some interesting results. It has Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby TrueHD and PiP/DDPlus secondary audio, many subtitle tracks and 4 audio commentary tracks.
Test 1 was to keep only the Dolby Digital 5.1 main audio, all four commentary tracks and all subtitle tracks, and the PiP/DDPlus secondary audio. Removed only the non-english audio tracks.
Play back on TMT3 from folders and image has the mixed/garbled audio, as if it is trying to play both main and secondary audio at the same time. The original rip does not do this.
( Not a big deal to me, just reporting the find ) All subtitles work properly, including the secondary video/audio subtitle track.
PowerDVD 7.3 plays back fine.
Test 2 was to keep only the TrueHD and the secondary DDPlus audio, and only the two english subtitle tracks, the main and the secondary PiP video/audio subtitles, removing all non-english audio and the four audio commentary tracks as well as the many non-english subtitle tracks. ( about 700+MB of subtitle tracks and 748MB; four x 187MB ea. audio tracks )
Tested again with same software players and this time TMT3 plays audio perfectly for main audio track but when playing the secondary track, no sound is heard. Also, no secondary subtitle track displays.
PowerDVD, when played from image, works fine though for the main audio and the secondary video/audio! However, there are no secondary subtitles displayed regardless if I turn them on/off manually.
I know software players are buggy, and I do no more than test on them before burning to disc. But what I am wondering is by removing several subtitle tracks after the kept english main track but before the secondary video/audio subtitle track, from its original order, it appears BD-RB did not re-adjust the subtitle order or re-associate the secondary video/audio subtitle track to its new position when I select to play the In-Movie experience from the menu!
When all subtitles were kept, it worked properly.

wonder if its worth adding dummy blank sub tracks in place of the removed ones. That will save space and keep everything aligned?

^I honestly have no idea. And I don't have time to rent and watch the Groundhog Day BD, so I can't really investigate anything.
My suggestions.
1) Look at the videos and see what's different about each of them. Resolution, Framerate, audio track, etc.
2) Try creating a custom blu-ray with just the special feature video (recompressed, of course) and see if your player plays it. The problem may be the BD menu structure and not the video.
Hi Revgen,
I did the first part of your suggestion using BDInfo. I will post the results here. Maybe you can help me make some sense of it.
Main Movie - MPEG4 AVC 1080p/23.976 fps/16:9/ High Profile 4.1. Movie works great.
Special feature 1 - MPEG 2 1080p/23.976 fps/16:9/17737 kbps
Special feature 2 - MPEG 2 480i/29.970 fps/4:3/5796 kbps
Special feature 3 - MPEG 2 1080p/23.976 fps/16:9/17749 kbps
These special feature freeze the menu when selected. Subsequently the features don't ever play.
All testing done on original movie rip using AnyDVD (not transcoded).
I don't know if any of this info will help to detemine the problem I have but I appreciate you (or anyone else) looking at it and offering a solution.
And not sure how to do the second part of your suggestion.
Thanks!

I could do that, and possible get this disc to work, but more important is why BD-RB doesn't make the necessary corrections. If jdobbs is made aware of instances like this, he will likely make the fix so all of us beta testers can benefit. :)

If the special features are freezing and the main movie is not, then it may a problem with the MPEG-2. Pehaps you could re-encode them to X264?

Why are you trying for 58.59GB Target Size?
It looks like this movie is only slightly over a BD-25, so unless you plan to burn to BD-R DL, why not change to a target size of BD-25, remove any unnecessary audio tracks and try again.

I choose 60GB to ensure there is no compressed video. I'm using BD-Rebuilder instead of ClownBD to rip movies to a server. I'm not burning to BD-R or BD-R DL.

This is not really a BD-RB issue. If you do not want to reduce the size of the movie, just rip to image with AnyDVDHD. Or, as an alternative, rip to folders with AnyDVDHD then just use IMGBurn to create an image of those folders. Either way, it will be original quality and take less time.

Either I'm way ahead of the curve or people drank some bad Kool-Aid.
I want the Movie Only with 1 Audio Track, and English Subtitles. I do not want to compress the video of the movie which is why I put my custom size higher to 60GB to *ensure* there is no compression of the movie video.
Then to make things nice and tidy, I would like to have the movie stored as an ISO. With my technique I am saving 9-20GB of space while preserving the movie and English audio track quality.
So instead of having approximately 40 BD movies (AnyDVD ISO only) on a 2.25TB Raid 5 NAS vs. approx 70-80 BD movies (AnyDVD+BD-Rebuilder ISO).
When played back with a Dune Player, the movie starts within 5 seconds. No waiting, no menus, just watching the movie.

I can add that easy enough. It's virtually the same command line. I'll make the output always go to the working directory.

Hi, I’ve just done a full backup of District 9 on Bd-25 with settings, quicker encode for extras, custom target size 23900mb. The file size that BD Rebuilder created was 22.9 GB; the film size was 10.5 GB and the extras 12.4 GB, is this normal as the extras on the District 9 rip are about 13 GB, hardly any compression. I’m using BD Rebuilder v0.32.05 with ffdshow 3133

@woodman;
I had some issues with this disc back quite some time ago, so see if any of this info applies to your situation.
I just realized that when ANYDVD rips all the files off the disc, for this one there is 4.99GB of extra files: example-PS3_GAME=2.95GB, PS3_UPDATE=256MB, SNP=1.78GB
Also, read this page and scroll down and also the following page.

Hi,
Ok this is driving me nuts. All extras of 'The Hurt Locker' completed. First pass of main movie completed. About an hour and twenty mins into the second pass I aborted, thinking I'll just restart later (something I frequently do). However now I'm getting 'Failed video encode, aborted'. Absolutely nothing had changed between aborting and restarting so I just cannot figure out whats gone wrong. I've uninstalled and reinstalled ffdshow, haali and avisynth to no avail.

P.S Starting from scratch works ok - please does anyone have an idea on what I can do so I don't have to start over?
P.P.S I'm using this version as later versions gave me weird crashes with tsmuxer.

I did two backups since updating to V32.05 and I am having issues with both backups, one full movie on BD-25 and the other movie only on BD-9. Whenever I press FF or REW keys, the picture freezes and the only way to unfreeze it (resume playback ) is by powering down the player. I am only having issues with Pioneer BDP-51-FD. I don't have a problem with the PS3.
I have done many backups with 31.05 and 31.06 and in all my of my backups the FF and REW function work fine with all my players. What could be causing this issue ?
BTW, I didn't want to upgrade from 31.06 because I never had any issues at all but when I launch BR-RB the program doesn't launch but keep saying to upgrade to the latest beta version. Since my primary player is the Pioneer 51FD, this is a major bug for me. Is there anyway I could keep using the 31.06 without the need to upgrade to the latest version ?

You can look at the change log and see what has changed. For a full backup that is essentially nothing beyond the newer version of X264. You can try downgrading the X264 version and see if that has an effect.
Upgrading is the least I should be able to expect since the purpose of these versions and this thread are beta testing... don't you think? It doesn't do anyone any good to keep getting bug reports on old versions. That is exactly why I put timeouts on the versions, and it isn't going to change.

I’m using BD Rebuilder v0.32.05 with ffdshow 3133 Quicker encode for extras uses fixed CRF values, so that could happen.

@iSeries
Upgrade to v0.32.05 -- this is a beta test. I can't respond to issues that may have already been fixed.

I see your reasoning. I will try to downgrade the X264 and see if that helps.

@woodman;
I had some issues with this disc back quite some time ago, so see if any of this info applies to your situation.
Also, read this page and scroll down and also the following page.

Thanks Capsbackup, just read the thread and i have a similar problem as you, some larger extras than original, i will do another backup with (quicker encode for extras) disabled as Jdobbs suggested. Thanks.

RichardWhat did you use to rip it? It sure sounds a lot like what would happen if encryption wasn't removed...
