Thanks. I think this is it -- but can't be sure until its tested.

Iam also having Audio Sync issues when backing up Taken on a BD-25 rip. Full backup seems to work but when i do a movie only backup the audio gets out of sync.
Happens on both the DTS and Dolby True HD track. Also it doesn't work when i select to keep the full Dobly True HD track for BD-25 reencode.

Using auto compression settings and tried changing settings a bit to eventually only remove the Workfiles with no luck either.

Ow yea, and i tried the 0.37.02 fix you posted a few posts back with no luck :)

Ow yea, and i tried the 0.37.02 fix you posted a few posts back with no luck :) Are you using all the recommended versions from the first post? There is no current issue that I'm working related to sync other than on 480i and/or hybrid/pulldown sources (as reported by Capsbackup). It is very unlikely that the main feature would be either.

What does "Also it doesn't work when i select to keep the full Dobly True HD track for BD-25 reencode" mean?

Yea i do use the right versions. I've been using your program for some time now and usually works flawless :)

And about you question, i meant the option you can select in the program called "Keep HD audio for BD25 encoding".
I was not at my home computer and could not exactly remember the option.

The funny thing is also that when i do movie only on this disc it can keep the full movie so there is no compression needed but audio gets out of sync.
In this case i can also use tsmuxer myself to shrink the BD (which does work) but i thought that it might be helpfull to post since others had sync issues in the latest build.

I did find it a bit weird why full backup works and movie only suddenly not on this disc.

I believe he also meant "In what sense isn't it working? What precisely is it doing/not doing?" etc. Just trying to help clarify, sorry if I'm out of bounds.

Jdobbs, I'm trying to backup Generation Kill Disc 1. When attempting a full backup, it lists "Approximate Source Content" at over six hours, when there is only a little over three hours. I've verified this using readmpls.exe. It looks to me as though the amount is doubled. When attempting to run the backup process, the bitrates end up being almost halved what they should be and I get a severely undersized output (around 16gb).

Any ideas?

Note: I'm using the correct versions of each software from your first post.

What disc is it?

Taken, dutch version (prolly UK then i guess?).

And i did notice something interesting maybe. I saw the movie is encoded on 24 fps. Usually its 23.976 on most movies, but i have to say iam not paying too much attention to that.....

Hmm... I guess I'll have to test that one too. The size is a part of what is used to determine the quality options.

I checked the length of each episode. It's not doubling exactly, it's adding an hour to each episode(playlist).

IE: Length of all episodes combined is 3:34. It's showing 6:34 as "approximate source content".

If I select "movie-only" and use "other movie playlist", and select one episode, it will add one hour on top of the original length.

Hope this helps.

:( The test BD-RB file did not correct the audio out of sync problem on the movie Case 39.

...

The audio is ahead of the video. The original 00270mpls for these 18 scenes, VID_00016 to VID_00033, reports a total time of 00:30:06, and the BD-RB backup reports 00:37:37, the same as before.
I am not sure if this helps, but if I run DGAVCIndex on the BD-RB backup 00016.m2ts file, it reports 29.970fps.
If I run DGAVCIndex on the VID_00016.AVS.264, it reports 37.462537fps.
Let me know what else I can provide that may be of help. Can you give me some hints as to how I can make this happen? Can you post your INI file? I've run this several times with IVTC enabled -- and the runs have all been in-sync on the extras. IVTC is taking place -- and as far as I can see so far it should...

Apparently something was changed for your decoding AVC video. Can you play the VID_00011.avs file BD-RB created in the Workfiles folder with MPC?
Usually a simple uninstall of Haali and ffdshow and then reinstall them will fix this.

I reinstalled both and it worked. I really appreciate that Caps!

The only extras that were out of sync were the Deleted Scenes, which are VID_00016 to VID_00033.
:o I have deleted the previous files, but from my previous post is below. I had selected IVTC sources with 3:2 pulldown and Use DECOMB filter on Interlaced sources.
I can run it again though if necessary.
Running it now, will post when complete.

@Capsbackup

Did it have the issue when played individually or as a group from the MPLS? I've looked at all of them individually and they are in-sync. I did notice, though, that they are all part of a multipart MPLS.

I'm starting to doubt the use of DirectShowSource() with MPEG-2... there have been a couple of oddities for which I've had to build workarounds. It may just be smarter to use DGINDEX and DGMPEGDEC (although it might add a little more complexity to the current code).

I was using the Playall button, and starting from the first clip, Let Her Sleep, the audio was out.
I am running a fast backup now, and will post the files again.
I usually know better than to delete them until things are resolved, but I guess I had a senior moment again.

When I unselected IVTC sources with 3:2 pulldown, these same deleted scenes were in sync.

Ahhh.. good to know. If you still have it, can you post the MUX_MOVIE_ONLY.meta contents?

Here ya go :)

Well I ran it again, and I get the same results. The audio is out regardless of playing each individual scene or the playall button.
As I mentioned before, the total time of 00270.mpls of the backup is reported as 00:37:37, 480P where the original is 00:30:06, 480i.

No that's even more confusing... It wasn't even reencoded????

Is this an original disc with no proprocessing? It almost sounds like the CLPI file isn't matching the actual stream in the source....

Is the source MPEG, AVC, or VC-1? I can't tell because the verbose status reporting has been turned off.

yep...... and thats why it goes wrong i think... when i do full backup it has 2 reencode and then it works fine.

to prove it has 24 FPS source.

Well it is not a big deal because i can remux myself with TSmuxer and that does work fine. But i thought it was kinda weird :)

to prove it has 24 FPS source. Ok, I found it. Apparently 24fps is rare -- because based on the code it looks like it has never worked in movie-only mode. It always get set to either 23.976 or 29.97.

I'll have it fixed for the next release.

Is this likely to fix the problem I was having with "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" as well, or do you think that is caused by something else?

Also, strangely, the frame rate for the video stream is shown in VLC as 23.976023 for the stream on the disk, and 47.952047 for the BD5 - although that can't possibly be correct, as it's definitely not running at double speed.

If it is 24fps and movie-only, then yes it probably will.

I don't think it is 24fps, given the above. I guess I will await the next build and see whether it makes any difference. I've attached the .INF and .LOG files in case you want to take a look.

EDIT: I've also just noticed that the audio is out of sync on my backup of "New Moon" (2nd movie in the Twighlight tilogy). The frame rate for the video stream on the original disk is shown as 23.976023fps in both VLC and BD Rebuilder, but VLC shows the stream in the rebuilt BD5 as 47.952047fps.

Hello,

Maybe someone can help? I have done over 60 backups and have not encountered this before. I usually can find an answer on this site from you gentlemen who are much more tech savvy than I. I am getting the following when trying to rebuild kill bill vol 1 us. it says:

Error in attempt to extract audio/subs.
AV frame too large (65164 bytes) increase buff
Failed to retrieve audio.

this happens in movie only as well as full back up. I have all the correct versions of ffdshow and avisynth and haali and they are all correctly set by the inspect button on bd rebuilder. if I can reset the buffer can some one tell my dumb ass how. thank you in advance for any and all help.

Good to know. Of the past 10 titles I've done 5 were 24fps exactly.

That's similar to Capsbackup's report. I'm still looking, but right now I have to believe there is something different between your setup and mine. I've been testing it to death and I can't get it to happen for me. It sounds like pulldown was applied -- but pulldown is never applied to an HD (1920x1080) source.

By the by, how does BD-RB process 1080i25 sources?

Some statistics: of the 79 titles I have waiting for encoding, 20 are something else than 1080p23.976. Of them, 13 are 24.00fps, 3 are 1080i25 and the rest are 1080i29.97.

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1469375#post1469375 I traced it down to a change made in v0.36.1 as a part of the DVD Output routines.

It's output as 1080i25? Since BD has no support for 1080p25 and some movies are shot in 25fps here in Europe, authoring shops tend to encode progressive frames but flag them as 1080i25 to get round the limitation.

hello,

@jdobbs
did you found any problem witch i have with the asynchronouse streams, at the movie only dvd output with the 23,976 sources? No, and I do those every day -- sometimes 2-3 each day -- totaling over around 2000 backups, and I have never had one that was out of sync.

However your issue was related to PAL conversion during DVD backup and that is new code and might need some tweaking -- but I've done quite a bit of testing and can't repeat any sync issues. Quite a few others have tried it too with no problems.

Overall I am not having any major issues, however I am seeing one small bug that may have been in other versions but I did not notice it
I am doing a backup of a movie, the closer the movie to 24 gb or smaller before processing it, BD rebuilder seems to miss target by about 1 gb.
I backed a 23878 mb and final movie end up at 21013 mb. I was hoping for reduction of 900mb and it was more than double.
In the past when more encoding is required (larger file) usually it is closer to 22700 to 23000 mb

I loaded up your INI and was able to repeat the goofiness. I don't know what caused it yet, but I think I should be able to find it quick enough.

I am looking online and Deciding Between a I7 2600 and a I5 2500k I don't play many Games But I would x.264 or Bd re-builder Does the Fact the I5 2500 not have Hyper threading and does not have the extra 4 threads really affect the speed compared to a I7 9500 or I7 2600 ?

jdobbs

Excellent! :)
So should those two settings not be used together? It should be okay to have them both selected... so they will work when needed. The bug was in the order I considered them. Now that I've fixed the bug it for the next release you shouldn't have to worry about it. But in practice they are never active (while encoding) at the same time even when selected -- because a source with telecining is progressive, so it needs no deinterlacing.
