Well, I ran PREDESTINATION tonight -- I didn't have your settings since I didn't get a response, but with the defaults it completed without issues on both the H.264 and MPEG-2 sources using DGDecNV.

Hey, I have a problem reencoding in Movie Only mode with DGDecNV when the movie has 2 VIDs and the first VID (Main Movie) is a mpeg4 source and the second VID is a mpeg2 source. The process stops while the GUI shows the message "DGDecNV reindexing" just before reencoding of the second VID should start. There are no crashes of BD-RB, PopUp messages, entries in the log or anything else ... just stop working.
When doing the same reencoding with LAV Filters instead of DGDecNV anything works fine.
DGDecNV is VERY sensitive to system overclocks. If you've tweaked your system performance, try backing it off and try your encoding again.

I hope you don't mind my asking this here, but I was curious about something...
I was trying to use BDRB to re-encode what I think was a very poorly encoded MKV file which my OPPO would not play. So, I figured that if I simply re-encoded it then it would be in some valid format that my player would play. One thing is that the MKV file had a 'Variable' frame rate, which I don't see too often, so since BDRB would not accept that, I used TSMUXER to set the frame rate (guessing) at a standard 23.976. I also set the Alternate output to MKV 720x480/576 (which I DON'T really understand quite what that is, but it was close to the original AR of the MKV file)
The result was that it came out kind of pixilized, sort of like when you use BDMV parameters on an MKV file and then try to play it. I know what that looks like because I have inadvertently done that before, but the output was 'Alternate' NOT BDMV, so I don't quite know why it came out that way. So, then I tried it again using what I know is a pretty standard setting of Alternate Output of MKV at 1280x720 and tried just a 10 minute snippet. THIS time, the result was even weirder... It was like only HALF the video was showing on the screen AND it was pixilizing somewhat.
I looked at the VID.AVS and I didn't understand what it was doing. The pertinent part looked like this:
LanczosResize(1280,720,0,36,720,405)
Spline16Resize(1280,720,8,0,704,480)
What exactly did it do...?
What's weird is that usually when I use BDRB to 'fix' a bad MKV encode, sometimes it comes out just fine and then sometimes it does kind of weird things like this. I'm talking about MKV files that play just fine on VLC player, but either will not play or look REALLY funny on my OPPO player.
BTW, this isn't a movie or anything, just an odd snippet of an extra.
Doesn't a full re-encode at WHATEVER setting, as long as it is re-encoding it, basically 'fix' and create a proper MKV file as a result?
*** EDIT
Okay, so I went back and placed the first re-encode into a BDMV folder using TSMuxer and BOOM! It played perfectly. So, at least I was right as far as interpreting why it was pixelizing. But... I had it set to Alternate Output, MKV, NOT BDMV complaint, so why did the re-encoded MKV come out that way...? When I have used Alternate Output, MKV before in order to re-encode a 'bad' MKV file, I usually GET a playable MKV file. I wonder why in this case, the resulting Alternate Output MKV file was NOT a playable MKV file, but rather a file that HAD to be placed in an BDMV folder in order to play properly...?
Very puzzling...
Thanks for any input.

Claim? The description should never be a claim about DGDecNV.
DGDecNV is my first choice!
Actually I think in my case it's the process that passes / prepares the input data needed by DGDecNV and not DGDecNV itself.

DGDecNV is VERY sensitive to system overclocks.
Software is not "sensitive". Some programs may expose system instabilities more than others, particularly when they stress the components more than usual.
In the case of DGDecNV, the part that runs on the CPU would hardly cause stress, especially compared to something like x264.
However, I imagine that an overclocked video card could cause problems with the code that runs on the VPU/GPU.

Actually, I have a more standard inquiry this time...
The Import / Quick Play has always worked flawlessly. I use it usually to back up the movie file and only the extras I want as separate files, each in their own BDMV folder. Normally it ALWAYS works. But, this time, although all of the extras are well above the import time threshold (1 minute) BDRB is ONLY seeing the main movie folder, but NOT the other 7 folders. Well, actually, it IS 'Seeing' them, but then it mysteriously skips them...
Here is the log. I am just REALLY curious as to why suddenly it is not seeing the other BDs in the main import folder.

Tomato tomato.
The point is, I have seen overclocked systems that appear stable reveal instability when DGDecNV is used with BD Rebuilder.
Arguing is pointless. An unstable overclock is undesirable no matter what the situation or cause. It was a troubleshooting suggestion. Relax.

I certainly agree with that.
I have seen overclocked systems that appear stable reveal instability when DGDecNV is used with BD Rebuilder.
That would indicate that you know of at least two systems that showed this bizarre behaviour. DGDecNV would be close to the bottom of the list of tools in the decoding/encoding chain that could cause crashing/freezing (you didn't elaborate on "reveal instability" so I assumed crashing/freezing).
Anyway, without knowing details about these "instabilities" and the hardware/software configuration, arguing is indeed pointless.

Ok. Let's get back on topic.
DoctorM
18th June 2015, 00:02
Okay. I've re-encoded a couple movie-only projects recently where there are forced subtitles.
Because I don't see anything denoting it, I've been selecting the subtitle track that was previously forced and selecting "Turn Subtitled On" (FORCED ON).
Is that necessary? Does BD Rebuilder automatically force it even though there is no indication of forced/unforced on the list of streams?
It feels like movie-only encodings act differently when there are forced tracks.
jdobbs
18th June 2015, 00:36
Yes. BD-RB adds code to the authoring that turns a forced sub on in the BD's first-play routine. The exception to that would be if you select a different subtitle track (from the streams list dropdown) that you want on. Both work the same way. If there are multiple available forced tracks, it will select based upon the language priorities you set using the hidden option FORCED_SUB_LANG. The default priority is given to English (because that's what I speak daily).
DoctorM
18th June 2015, 01:26
Okay, then I'll stop forcing it. Thanks.

Could someone inform me on the purpose of the setting 'Process 3d Video sources as 2d for backup'?
Can it be used to convert a 3d movie into 2d? I tried it and keep getting two images beside each other.

Do you have any SBS settings checked, or are you perhaps using a SBS Alternate-Output.
I have that checked and never had any issues in the past.

Jdobbs,
Hello, I found a bug that was introduced some versions ago. I'll try to explain it as well as I can. When I do an encode, I'll often do a comparison of the encoded video vs. source video using MPC. These are the settings that I use:
ffdshow video decoder configuration:
-Check box for OSD and check the boxes for current frame and frame type.
MPC:
-Go to options > playback > output > select Haali Renderer
When the above are enabled there will be green text in the top left corner showing what the current frame and frame number is when I use MPC to playback the video. I've always kept these settings checked for a few years now and never had a problem encoding a movie with BD Rebuilder.
Now, I have to uncheck OSD to encode a movie or else the green text showing the current frame and frame number gets encoded into the encoded video. I did several testing of prior versions to see where the problem started and have narrowed it down.
BD Rebuilder v0.48.03 and older: OK
BD Rebuilder v0.48.04 and newer: Text gets encoded in video
FYI, I don't have anything regarding LAV installed.
Here's the inspect report:

I was wondering if anyone could help me understand this better...
I'm using BDRB to create a quick play menu setup for 2 small Blu-ray folders. Normally, I do this all the time and it works just fine putting the two Blu-rays on one Blu-ray with a nice menu.
However, this time one of my folders needs to have the audio hastened by about 12 seconds, and when I play the individual m2ts file it is in sync. When I look at the m2ts file with MediaInfo, it shows the negative delay kind of 'written' in the audio part, like this:
Audio
ID : 4352 (0x1100)
Menu ID : 1 (0x1)
Format : DTS
Format/Info : Digital Theater Systems
Format profile : MA / Core
Mode : 16
Format settings, Endianness : Big
Muxing mode : Stream extension
Codec ID : 134
Duration : 1h 30mn
Bit rate mode : Variable
Bit rate : Unknown / 1 509 Kbps
Channel(s) : 6 channels
Channel positions : Front: L C R, Side: L R, LFE
Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz
Bit depth : 16 bits
Compression mode : Lossless / Lossy
Delay relative to video : -12s 300ms
But, when I Import both folders into the Quick Play setup, it does everything just fine, but when I go to play the result, the audio adjustment is no longer in there and the A/V is 12 seconds out of sync (the MediaInfo file for the newly created m2ts file no longer has the timing adjustment - the bottom line above is missing)
Why would BDRB not keep the audio timing adjustment that I already put into the m2ts file of the original folder?
Also too... Just for my information, if someone doesn't mind telling me, I THOUGHT that once I adjusted the delay for the audio and then used TSMuxer to create a BDMV folder, that the new, adjusted A/V timing would just natively be adjusted in the new m2ts file, but the audio timing adjustment STAYS in the file info, kind of like it will always need that timing info in order to play it back right. BUT... why doesn't it just simply create a NEW m2ts file with the audio ALREADY adjusted and just start back at 'Zero' again...???
Why does it do that...?
Thanks!
Lathe
28th June 2015, 04:02
Well, I THINK I might have figured out what to do. I still don't understand WHY TSMuxer won't keep the hastened audio adjustment, but what I tried as a fix was to use TSMuxer to snip out the first 12.3 seconds of the audio (basically hastening it the required amount) and using the new shortened audio track, remux it into the original BDMV folder and THEN use BDRB to put the two together, this time without the time hastening adjustment being in the m2ts file stats.
So, I'm burning it right now, but I watched the resulting m2ts file after BDRB finished importing it and it was perfectly in sync, so I THINK I got it... :) (still don't understand WHY it doesn't retain the hastened audio though...)

Versions of external tools for BD-RB
The requirements statements in the first post of this thread have not been updated for a while, and I believe it's time to do this...
In my experience BD-RB has no problems whatsoever with AviSynth 2.60, and the current version 0.65 of LAVFilters also works perfectly. (ffdshow is static anyway, only the Haali version seems to be critical)
The reason I bring it up is that more and more software requires AviSynth 2.60 (or AviSynth +) these days. Could you please do some tests using the current versions and update the first post accordingly?

I had something weird happen yesterday and don't blame BD Rebuilder for it, but I can't figure out the source of the problem.
Re-encoding Airplane! with a quick menu. This included the movie, a trailer and 60 bonus clips of about 1 minute or less.
One of the clips has a last frame that is wrong. It's supposed to be black, but it is another from earlier in the clip instead.
I examined the .264 file and it's really there, I checked the .AVS script in the temp folder and it ISN'T there.
Is it possible the x264 encoder actually screwed up? I guess it could also have been the hardware decoder had a brain fart. Both seem pretty unlikely.
This is the first I've seen anything like that and it's only in one video clip out of 62 on that disc. I'd post more details, but I don't know what. The log shows no errors encoding that segment:

Good to know Manolito, because I also use other software that for some time now are demanding Avisynth version 2.60.
Jdobbs,
I was backing up transformers age of extinction and notice alternate output has extra audio track which was never chosen for backup, what makes it even more interesting it doesn’t exist on disc either. In final built Media info shows it exist, MPC-HC can play it and size of file 756 MiB in this case.
What I don’t get is why have two tracks, even though asked for one at backup?

Bold one was never asked for backup.
My second one has to do with Captain America Winter Solider, this has force subs. However in final version it never get transferred over. After some digging I figured out this title has force subs which are contained in separate track. Unless I choose to backup this one and manually force with mkvmerge it doesn’t get displayed.
I am going to redo this if requested by you.
In both cases alternate output with HEVC and intact audio, since it doesn't exist I posted it here.

BD structure output does not have this problem, however instead of coming close to 22.5 it is 20.8 in size.

HWK
MKVmerge can not remux TrueHD with the AC3 core, so it muxes the TrueHD track and the core separately.
Simply rerun the mkv thru mkvmerge again with the AC3 core deselected if you wish.

Been using this program for a while and now I finally ran into a problem. I went to back up 3 movies recently and for some reason its only re-encoding or whatever only about 20-30 minutes of the movie and then burns it to disc. Got plenty of hard drive space and no power saving options selected. Any help would be appreciated.
Provide disc you have problem with, setting and anything specific you may be using.

3 different movies. American Sniper, Chappie and Jupiter Ascending. Movie only setting. Found part of one of the logs below. AnyDvd used to rip to a desktop folder. The whole movie ripped fine but for some reason BD Rebuilder isn't encoding the whole movie on any of the 3 I have tried recently.

@Tplat
Can you post Imgburn log as well?
Launch Imgburn and under help, choose imgburn logs and post recent one here or its content. Also you can upload to remote site and paste a link if you wish.
Also can you show setting for BD-RB run program under help you will find option to generate it.

OK, thanks. A couple of weeks ago everything was working fine. I`ve used this programs for several years doing just movie only back ups and don't recall any problems like this. For some reason after only encoding the first 20 minutes or so the program thinks its done and sends it off to Imageburn to be burned to a BDRE disc. This most recent attempt I tried the Quick Play mode instead of Movie Only but didn't get a chance to finish it. Will try again in the morning, time for bed here. Thanks again for the help.
Is there a trick to making full 3D backup with in-mux?
Whenever I open a 3D title, BDR only seems to see the 2D m2ts as the resultant file is too small to be the muxed 3D, even allowing for removal of non-English soundtracks.
In Setup, the "Process 3D video sources as 2D for backup" is checked but greyed out and non-selectable and I can't see how to disable it.
Which operating system you are using?

@HWK: the "checked but greyed out" part should have given that away. He's using vista (or below, but unlikely)
@IanD: 3D processing requires Windows 7 or above. This is due to specific code requirements by FRIM that are missing in vista or below. If you want to process 3D discs and keep 3d (no there is no trick, BDRB will then do its magic in combo with FRIM), you need to upgrade to Windows 7 at least. No way around that.
Yes, but I just wanted to be extra sure. With that said you are absolutely right.

Will do that in a little bit here. Did an uninstall then a fresh install of everything and am about to give it another shot. Just have to leave a note for my brother to leave the computer alone. Whats weird is it would burn and play fine but only the first 20 minutes or so are on the disc. The ripped movie folder has the entire movie but the BDRB working folder for the encoded movie is much smaller then the original.
Are you using default anydvd setting when processing or ripping movie.

Good to know Manolito, because I also use other software that for some time now are demanding Avisynth version 2.60.
I also use program which require avisynth 2.60
While not supported but so far bd-rb works with new version. However not gonna post bug report unless I use 2.58
