I'm not "worried" about it, and I don't care for streaming. Because my newer HDTV plays MKV files from USB (with Subs, Chapters, etc), I do that often but I still prefer Menu driven BDs. I enjoy "themes" a lot. My LG BD590 Player also plays MKVs from USB and HD, but not with Chapters. I keep Records and CD Art because I loved them all of my life. I still prefer to see the Art when I pick through my Lossless collection (converted all CDs to Bin/Cue), but MKV, or at least I haven't tried it yet, doesn't show Images. Hmm...Now that I'm thinking about it, my HDTV might..instead of Thumbnails from a movie.
I'll check now..that is where Kodi/SPMC/MrMC come in. They show me the art work, respect chapters and subtitles, etc.
I haven't tried ISO or Bin/Cue to see how they are handled.

Cinavia survives any ripping process. BD standalone players are supposed to also detect Cinavia on ripped media files like MKV wrapped programs. But, as it turns out, not all manufacturers did. TVs are not subject to Cinavia detection, as the BD media is required to verify legality.
I get that. My LG Blu-ray players didn't/don't. Nor does the FireTV. It's why i use them for play back.

...and dvdcrap (my opinion) isn't the only thing that can remove it. So can AnyDVD+CloneBD, albeit at a cost to the audio.
Agreed from my tests from the help of a friend. DVDFab Does remove it... I haven't used the combo yet, but I know it does, in part because you typed so. But also read so.
Tested MKVs with my new burner and since it's writing correctly where my much older ASUS were failing, the older LG is still reading fine.
What was need? You guessed it. I'll get a new cheap BD/MKV player for BD discs...and pass the knowledge to my Family and much, much more. Maybe it'll inspire more firmware hackers?

I imported a couple of .mp4 files which were taken with a mobile phone. Source is 1920x1080p VFR as reported by MediaInfo. In fact the true video framerate appears to be CFR 29.97 or very close to it.
These files are imported in the pseudo folder as 1920x1080p23.976, and audio is out of sync. They are then encoded accordingly at 1920x1080p23.976 with audio out of sync.
Shouldn't these files be kept at the original framerate of 29.97 and encoded as 1920x1080i29.97, or even better as 1920x1080p29.97 with --fake-interlace?
I think the culprit is the pseudo VFR of the source.
Is there a setting/hidden option which I missed?
Edit:
I tried the various IMPORT_VFR_..... options in the .ini. It didn't help …

DVDFab 10.0.8.8+ does remove Cinavia. I was done before that version but..I'm not interested in getting the exact version. :) It looks and sounds like there isn't any degrading of audio is process.

Confirmed with my phone's video also.

0 is the default. IMPORT_PAL_TO_FILM=n n = 0/1 - Default=0, if set to 1, imported 25fps video file sources are converted to 23.976, only if set to 1 should it convert. I'd post the log and if jdobbs wants them the .ifo & bup files in a zip file or something so he can analyze the structure

Well, here's a new error I just ran into:
CreateMenu() 00076 4000
This was during Building Menu Structure. It was the 2nd menu of 2. All four files are there, but at the moment I do not know if the 2nd menu is valid.
JD, do you want a copy of the disc ISO of the DVD that BDRB was having trouble seeing all of the titles?
UPDATE: Nope, the resulting disc just started playing an episode and if I press "menu" on the remote, it skipped to another episode.
Sharc
11th December 2018, 08:45
I set it in the INI file manually. Plus, as I wrote, there are other titles on the disc that have a shorter time than the one BDRB missed.
I think you need to reread my postings. It is only BDRB that misses the title. DVDFab and VideoReDo have no problem seeing all of the titles.
Maybe a related problem:
I imported 18 short clips (.mp4), setting all import size thresholds to zero.
All 18 clips got imported and processed and were included in the Quick Menu, but surprisingly only 4 out of the 18 were shown in Stream Tab of BD-RB.

Now that you mention it, the stream list only showed 1 of the 12 MKV files that it processed. They are all there though. I really haven't paid much attention to the stream list. Maybe I should, just to see if it is a pattern.

Yep! In my case setting both to Zero solved it. Thanks.
Surprisingly though all items were imported, processed and burnt to the disc including the playlists; it was only on the Stream Tab where some were missing.
Btw. could you already duplicate the .mp4 framerate issue (http://forum.doom9.org/showpost.php?p=1859500&postcount=28205)?

Interesting. The M2TS is the default of 100MB and the other is set to 1 min. All 12 files in this case are above those values.
Another test disc I created has two 4GB+ files and again, only one.
I'll have to try setting both to zero to see what happens.
UPDATE: No difference. Only 1 of the 5 showed up.

After they are imported they are treated like any other disc... and very small files (extras) are just kept intact to save time (since they won't save much space). Only the ones that will be processed are listed.

I see, this explains it. They are copied intact rather than being skipped - it seems I forgot that :o
Now there remains still the framerate issue. This problem remains as it happens already during import, it seems.

It would be really helpful if BDRB would log what the issue is. BDRB gets thru a little over 91% of the file before failing.
This particular file has been thru VideoReDo twice. The first time to create a TS file as a result of shortening the 2-sec blacks to basically nothing and to mark a spot for a chapter mark. Then that file is used to create the MKV file with chapter marks. VRD had no issues with the video at all.

I think I found it. Like I said, it would have been very helpful if BDRB would display the error. In this case, I believe that it ran out of disc space. While setting up for a sat feed capture job, I check to make sure that there is enough space for the capture. There wasn't. And looking at what was left also meant that BDRB didn't have the space either for the first file.
EDIT: Yep, that was it.

JD,
Coming back to an older problem report of "Doctor Strange (2D)".. When I select to either Movie Only or make an MKV with DTS to AC-3, DTS is not converted (correctly). The process "looks" good as BD-RB's doing it but in the WORKFILES directory, the AC-3 size is 2.50KB.
With MKV it fails to mux, of course. But Rebuilding BD structure doesn't fail and when playing back with Player or PDVD12..of course, not any audio.
Also, a friendly reminder. Checked "Role Models" extra yet? :)

I just discovered a nice new feature in the latest version, which I must have missed in the changes list. And that is the conversion of EAC3 file to AC3 files, instead of BDRB failing. I was testing the standalone playability of some MKV files and noticed that the EAC3 was being converted. I wasn't paying attention that the files even had EAC3 audio.

Where? In a normal backup run... but not an import. It doesn't matter anyway. BD-RB isn't responsible for managing your hard drive space.

In other words, it isn't in the log. :D

That is true. The point is that most programs report that it has run out of disc space, Just being friendly to the user. In this case, BDRB ran out of HD space and went off in a tangent. The tangent made me believe that there was something wrong with the source file. IMHO, a bug.

If you are literal about it, BD-RB didn't run out of space at all, the HD did. BD-RB only reports it or shows it if "told" to do so, as other programs do as you noted. Reporting is different than causing. :scared: :D Windows will report low storage, only because it's programmed to. It doesn't "care". :sly: :D

Yes, M$ will report it. But, when BDRB fails and quits, before it does it removes the files it was working on, therefore freeing up the space. M$ doesn't get the chance to report that it is low on disc space.

M$ doesn't get the chance to report that it is low on disc space. :eek:The problem is that the operating system doesn't return an error that says it is out of disc space. It just returns a generic error that could just as easily be an access issue or a bad file name. So, every time I get an generic error I'm supposed to fo down a list until I finally check the remaining disc space? I don't think so. Like I said, managing disc space is out of scope for this program and it isn't going to happen.

Well that sucks. In that case, can I suggest reporting that an unknown system error occurred and abort the current process.

For some strange reason, BDRB advanced the audio of a 23.976 video 8 frames, so that it leads the video. I know that it is exactly that because in this particular case there is a 1 frame audio sync burst at 1 sec into the video. The audio is 8 frames early.
So, I ran the MediaInfo program that comes with BDRB and it says that there is no delay with the video. Looking at the original MKV file with VideoReDo shows no audio issue. Looking at the M2TS file with VRD shows the 8 frame error.
As a test, I shifted the audio back 8 frames and the resulting M2TS file is now correct.
Any ideas as to what else to look for that can result in the audio shifting?

But that's the same thing MEDIAINFO does, so I doubt that is it. If it is there will be a "timeshift" line in the .meta file for the affected file.

Does anyone have any idea why my 25fps file on import is being converted to a 23.976fps file? And, more important, how to avoid that?
Just guessing: Your source is 1280x720p25. BD-RB probably converts it to a Blu-ray compliant format which is 1280x720p23.976 (or 1280x720p24), but never 1280x720p25.
How to avoid it? You could try to convert your source to 1280x720p50 by doubling each frame or apply pulldown (via avisynth) before importing it.
For info: I imported compliant 1920x1080i25 sources and they were kept as 1920x1080i25.

My source is UHD-Remux size 40G, when I burn on bd-r 50G and play on lg up970, it get stuttering problem.
I think because it's too high bitrate for bd-r 50G. Can I use bd_rebuilder to reduce bitrate? How?

Quick question. I'm trying to remove some extras and all the warnings, comments, etc screens from my ISOs. Not doing any re-encoding. If I want to see all the smaller streams, I have to select Output Options as DVD5 or DVD9. Anything higher hides all the smaller streams. I can Force No Encode but if I'm selecting DVD5 or DVD9 LPCM will re-encode to AC3 as it's not a BD size and won't ignore encoding. Any way to see all the small streams AND Force No Encode on LPCM audio?

I searched the thread and based on what jdobbs indicated, if the custom target size is set above 8500, HD audio will be allowed to be kept and not reencoded. However, as soon as I set the target size to 8501, all the smaller streams disappear from the stream tab and I can't blank any of the warning and commentaries screens.
