@Kakashi Sensei;
Its gotta be something with my system right?
You should address this: - FFDSHOW MPEG2 set incorrectly: [0]
I'm not sure if this is your problem, but fixing this will not hurt!
EDIT: Looks like you corrected it now! :)

Thanks Caps yeah i noticed it. I'm going to see if it happens in High Speed encode, if I get the same resault as i did in Default 2 Pass i'm going to re-install windows.
Thanks :)
EDIT: Reinstall of the recommended FFDShow worked. Must have have been currupted or gone bad or something. Yeah! no more problems and no out of sync with the finished BD-25 :)

I have a quad core desktop running XP. I have noticed that when running BD_rebuilder, x264.exe runs only on CPU 0 unless I manually go into task manager and set the affinity to all 4 CPU.
I did some research and found similar issues in programs that are launced by explorer if explorer only has affinity set to CPU 0.
I checked the affinity for BD_Rebuilder and it was also set to CPU 0 only. When I set the affinity for BD_rebuilder to all 4 CPU and launched a job I noticed that x264.exe was running on all 4 CPU.
For now, my work around is to set the affinity every time I launch BD_Rebuilder. Any thought on how to change this behavior?
Thanks!
PD
Attempting to get full backup of "White Ribbon", none of BDR settings touched from the normal.
Getting the following:
Three attempts so far, all stops at 19.59% complete.
Any suggestions?
e143slime8,
Be sure you are encoding to an NTFS partition and NOT a FAT32.

Like to say thanks for another GREAT program from jdobbs and another donation on its way soon :)
My bug report (only one in many BD's re-encoded) is Monsters vs. Aliens, Region B, Full disc, keep all English audio, keep HD audio, keep all subs, BD25, auto settings, on Windows7 64bit, all software installed from first post...
The PIP audio track is way out of sync from start to end, everything else seems great. i noticed this has been reported back on page 386 by Moviewatcher666 (took me days to read the whole thread) and know the rules, i'm not pussing the matter just a heads up incase its slipped and been missed.
Anyways thanks for the great app and everyone keep up the great work :)

Does the decomb option help with this... i know I could just try its just my PC take a hell of a long time to do encodes so if anyone has any experience I would be grateful

Has anyone else experienced this, I checked to resize to 720p from a 1080i source, I also turned on "decomb" as well... the resulting file was stretched out to be twice as long as it should have been (slow motion) and had no sound. Does BD rebuilder always use decomb when resizing interlaced material to 720p? Have I screwed it up by selecting both options...

I'm having a dickens of a time with one disc I'm trying to rebuild. It's Disc 2 of "Monty Python: Almost the Truth". Disc 1 went well and I had no problems. Now, with disc 2, I'm having wavi.exe crash on me. Sometimes it completes, sometimes it get's to about 48-53% and errors out.
Most of the audio on it is LPCM stereo, with only the main two streams having both LPCM and multi-channel AC3. Not sure if that really means anything, but I thought I'd add it in.
I'm trying to make a DB-9 backup as I don't have any Blu-Ray discs, and it's an episodic type disc, so movie only is a moot point to me.
Not sure what is needed, so I'm adding a few of the logs that I have, if you need more information, please ask and I'll get you what I can.
This is from the actual Windows crash log.

Again, I rebuilt disc 1 with no problems, and I've done other discs as well (both movie only and BD-9) before and after trying this disc. So that's why I'm leaning towards something in the disc makeup.
Any help IS appreciated. Again if you need to know anything else, please let me know.

Some Titles (Movie Only, Dolby Digital, BD25) are not recognized (defective) by PS3 over DLNA (PS3MediaServer). When i burn it on a BD-RE then it is working on PS3.
Any clues?

Thanks for the quick reply...
So even if I use the 2 Pass option I can not get it to fit a DVD-9 in MKV. Only if I make a BD "copy" then it will limit the size.
I have been using DVD rebuilder for years and was so familiar with the GUI that I just thought it worked the same way. (-;
To bad I really wanted to be able to copy my MKV files to DVD-9 discs. I'll probably change it to use the selected size settings... I'm starting to think the independent CRF setting is just too confusing.

I will have to try the set affinity tomorrow. It runs on all four on my system. It sounds like a configuration issue with your system. The only other possibility might be if you have set the "THREADS=" parameter in the config file:
THREADS=n n represents the number of threads to use in X264, default is "auto"

Thanks1080i is only 30 frames per second also (as you said, 60 fields). The only way you could preserve the "fluidity" would be if you converted each field to a frame -- but in doing so you'd loose resolution (each field is only 540 lines). I really don't think the difference between 30fps and 60fps is very detectable.

I have updated the first post of this thread with a link to the most recent release of BD-RB (v0.34.03). Changes for this version:- Increased the default output size for BD-5 and BD-9
encodes to use more of the available disc space.
- Added an AVS filter editor to the SETUP dialog. This
will allow you to add AVS filters to files. Note that
bug reports WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED when filters are in
use (as errors are almost always caused by the filter
usage). You can add "E:", "F:", "I:", or "P:" as a
prefix to a line added in the filter editor. The
prefixes represent "Extras", "Feature", "Interlaced",
and "Progressive" respectively. When specified, the
prefix will limit that filter to usage only when the
source to be encoded matches the prefix. For example,
if specifying "E:filter1()" the filter "filter1()"
would only be applied to segments that are determined
to be extras. Setting "e:i:filter2()" limits use of
"filter2()" to segments that are extras -- and are
also interlaced.
- Added an additional priority choice. You can now set
to HIGH priority as well as NORMAL and IDLE. It is
still recommended to use IDLE, however, as it will
best share the app with others running, but will still
max out processors on a machine when CPU is available.
- Added open GOP encoding as the default. This option
can be selected or deselected from the SETUP dialog.
Open GOPs can noticably improve picture quality for
blu-ray due to GOP size restrictions.
- Removed COLOR_BOOST from the SETUP dialog. This option
is rarely used or needed. It still exists as a hidden
option (see HIDDENOPTS.TXT).
- Updated the included version of X264.EXE to the
latest release (r1666).
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

I'm experiencing a problem with INVICTUS (region 2) and I'm not even sure if this is a bug or whether PIP or certain kinds of PIPs are simply not possible.
So far I have NOT burned the title to a BD-RE but will do so. The problem I have with this title is:
the first bonus material of what is called "specials" in this movie is this PIP feature and the problem is the sound of the PIP commentary.
it is a DD+ 96kbps stream which cannot be understood at all
other special features like the "making of" or the "eastwood-factor" have NO PIP and decent soundstreams with 192kbps and they are perfectly fine.
the main title is somewhat problematic in the sound department as well:
I cannot get the main movies audio streams to play properly. They should be fine as they still are DTS-HD and DD streams but whatever language or stream I choose from the menu the main title starts with this crappy 96kbps director's comment and i can NOT change the sound in the usual way in the software player.
As the title does not play on the PC I dont think that burning the tilte to a media and play it with a hardware BD Player will chnage things that much that the title can be watched, but I will give it a try.
Did I simply miss those posts in this long thread which would have told me: PIP does not work yet?
If so: sorry for bringing this up once more.
If not: is there any setting I could change?

Software players are not the best for testing, so you should burn to BD-RE and test on a standalone.

Yes, decomb is always used for 720p conversion from interlaced sources. It has to be.
Thanks for clearing that up I assumed it used a different algorithm by default. Do you have any plans to add more deinterlacing options in the future I find the current one seems somewhat jerky when compared to the 1080i source. Anyway ace software. :thanks:

9th July 2010, 02:08
I'm somewhat new to all this, so if I made any mistakes below, someone please correct me.
1080i video plays very smoothly im guessing because its 60 fields per second or because of the deinterlacer, I understand that when reencoding to 1080p you only have 30 frames per second to work with so some of the fluidity is lost but is there not a way of preserving this when encoding 1080i to 720p since its 60fps. When watching my 720p encodes (from 1080i source) they look like 30fps and not 60.
From what I've seen, Blu-ray specs allow neither 1080p30 nor 720p30. 1080p is restricted to 23.976 or 24 fps, and 720p can be used at 23.397/24 fps or 50/59.94 fps. So presumably BD-RB is reencoding 1080i59.94 to 720p59.94, but you may be losing temporal resolution depending on the deinterlacing method.
1080i is only 30 frames per second also (as you said, 60 fields). The only way you could preserve the "fluidity" would be if you converted each field to a frame -- but in doing so you'd loose resolution (each field is only 540 lines). I really don't think the difference between 30fps and 60fps is very detectable.
If you're losing temporal resolution going from 1080i"60" to (effective) 720p"30" (due to your interlacing method), you are losing the "high-motion" effect which supposedly kicks in somewhere around 45 Hz. Arguably, for some content, preserving high-motion/temporal resolution at the expense of horizontal resolution is preferable, therefore...
Do you have any plans to add more deinterlacing options in the future I find the current one seems somewhat jerky when compared to the 1080i source. Anyway ace software.
Seconded. :) Bob/line-doubling might be a nice option to have to retain high motion (correct?).
Sorry if this was off-topic for the bug thread.

I just worry that its getting too close to SD at 540.
My preference is to just leave it alone and keep 1080i.

I have still never managed to do certain discs which have DTS-HD XLL Stereo soundtracks (Clash of the Titans and The Last Emperor) come to mind. If I do the discs to bd-25 and leave the audio untouched, they are fine. However, if they are to bd-9, the audio isn't heard and if I read the m2ts file into tsmuxer it reports it as unsupported. I tried again with the latest version and used the 'Use 192 kbs' option, but still the same problem.
DD+ PiP should work properly. It cannot be converted and stays in its original form. DTS Express PiP audio cannot be processed at this time.
I'm definitely dealing with DD+ and not DTS Express and that's why i was wondering.
The attached screenshot shows the orignal stream and lists track 40 as DD+; the rb output of course is identical.

Software players are not the best for testing, so you should burn to BD-RE and test on a standalone.
I'm pretty sure your results will be different, and it will also be a better report for jdobbs, who has stated he is not a fan of software players! :p
I know, that's why i pointed out that i did NOT burn the material so far but only tested it with a software player.
--
I now have burnt Invictus to a BD-RE and the problem has shifted:
- main title can be played fine with both audio streams I wanted (English / German) and also has another descriptive English audio stream
- when selecting the PIP feature there is NO sound at all although the information of the BD Player list the audio stream for the PIP feature:
http://forum.doom9.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=11232&stc=1&d=1278679151
So I still cannot access the DD+ sound stream of the PIP feature.
Has anyone successfully done this title as full movie so far?
Here are the logs, just in case...

The same for me.
I would also like to run it in High Priority as Win7 is in a Virtual Machine (Parallels in OSX).
Thx!It's already fixed... look at post #8727.

Cool, please let us know what you conclude.
Agreed--I never thought to ask, but laney might let us know why it's preferable to convert to 720p for this material.
Ive tried leaving titles at 1080i while it reatains the temporal resolution im finding lots of errors in the playback, power dvd also crashes alot when trying to play them back for some reason. I normally convert stuff to DVD9 size so 720p is preferable to me I would rather have lower resolution than lots of artifacts.
Just a thought... could you not deinterlace using the current method and then run it throughh a framerate doubler like the one in FFDSHOW or does that still reduce the detail.
When I encode interlaced DVD's I always use something like yadif 2x to make it 60fps it makes a real difference to me and cleans up alot more of the jaggies.
Is there a thread on how to use the filter editor thanks again!

You can already do that. Select "Minimize to Tray" from the FILE menu. Then whenever you minimize it will be put in the tray.

don't know how i could have missed that one lol. Found it at the bottom. Must have overlooked. Thanks for adding the priority choises mate. Any chance of also being able to select target drive from the gui like you added my suggestion of removing the output folder in the gui.
I'd be really gratefull. Keep up the good work. Even though i'm not capable of donating i really appreciate all the hard work (and the dev's of the dependant tools) put into the application(s).
ya get 5 stars from me mate :)

I'm running version 0.34.2 on Vista. I've run the inspector program and every line ends with "Ok". Nevertheless, the two DL discs I've tried to reduce in size to BD-25 have overshot the mark by several gigabytes.
The first one I tried a week ago (The Green Mile) and have since deleted the files. The second one I just tried (Starship Troopers), and set at Full Disc with target size BD25, it produces a 35GB BDMV folder. It seems as though it's not reencoding any video, just stripping out unwanted languages and AC3 tracks. What gives? I've installed and configured all the additional software apparently to the inspector program's liking, and have not messed with the default settings.

Here's the log Could you post the BDREBUILDER.INI file? The "USE_ORIGINAL=1" entries in the INF file makes it look like it's trying to keep the original stream when it shouldn't. The only way I can think that would cause that is if the hidden option "FORCE_NOENCODE=1" is set in the INI.
If you add "FORCE_ENCODE=1" to your INI file it should force BD-RB to reencode all the streams.

Do you mean the target drive for IMGBURN?
yup that one. The one thats already available via hidden command. I'd love a dropdown box. The reason is that i have 3 burners and 2 of them are bd-'s. When i fire up 2 instances of imgburn and burn 2 discs. IMGburn remembers the last drive used (F: in case i burn a BD). However when i only burn 1 image i use my LG BH10LS30 and that one is designated E:
The issue is that even with a blank inside, imgburn does not see that there is a blank in E: but remembers drive F: and aborts the burn, wich in turn reports to BDRB that it failed to burn.
I know it's not really a BDRB bug or issue though i'd love to see it implemented. If and how i'll leave up to you.
** edit ** is there any way you could have the total completion percentage display in a tray balloon, like you currently display it when BDRB isnt minimised to tray ?

The INI looks ok... I'll test it out.
