Version 0.18.04

I just posted a new version in the first post of this thread. Changes:

January 21st, 2008 - v0.18.4
- Fixed an error introduced in v0.18.2 that could set
the framecount on a segment to an incorrect value and
result in massive undersizing.
- Corrected a bug that could cause the wrong MPLS to
sometimes be selected as the main-movie in the Streams
List.
- Corrected "Runtime Error 6" that could occur during
selection of a source.
- Fixed an error that would cause BD Rebuilder to exit
with an error when using "FIX_CLPI=0".
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

Hmm... I just fixed a source of the "Runtime 6" error, but looking at the MPLS files -- I'm not sure whether that was it in your case. Please try it again when I post the new version and let me know if it helped. No dice. Still occurs.

Oddly enough, this worked fine in the original release.

No luck. Still wrong mpls selction for movie only with v0.18.4.
I'll PM you the MPLS.

@Chefkoch_ico

Can you post the INF file for the encode that had audio problems. I've just followed the code and can't seem to see how this could happen if all done in one instance of encoding. One thing that needs to be clarified, though, is that if you select audio from the streams list, and then exit and restart BD-RB -- the audio will go back to what was on the SETUP list. So if you started a job, changed from the streams selection, then exited/restarted, you may get something different than you thought, with over/undersizing.

Hi!

I´m sorry, I startet another testrun on another disc. I can post you the inf files in about 12 hrs, when I did the testrun of narnia again (the fast encoding setting really helps when testing).

Bye

Yippieh! My first success. I just encoded "Ultraviolet" PAL european to BD5 (DVD-R), using beta 0.18.3.
Full encode, high quality, strict AVCHD. I left the Auxdata folder in there, I didn't touch anything. The backup works perfectly on my Samsung BD-P1500. Everything's there: movie, extras, subtitles.

For all of you Samsung P1500 owners: these backups only work if you use the older firmware (June 2008 or something like that). If your device has firmware after June 08, it will NOT play these discs. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Jdobbs, thanks so much, bro. I will download beta 0.18.4 now and I will give episodic "Lost" PAL european another try tonight. Oh, I got Milla Jovovich right here beside me on the couch, she sends her regards.

Hi
I tried to copy Spiderman 3 with BD Rebuilder. Unfortunately I get an error when it reaches 100%: BD Rebuilder exp. an error (19:41:35) reencode Audio ()00006. I have also tried to copy this film with MEGUI, following the Blu-ray Disc guide on this forum. It works fine when I copy a small cut of the movie, but when I try the complete video file, it crashes before it has converted 1GB - what is wrong?:thanks:

I just finished MaxPayne using High Qaulity setting, and loading the movie playlist via the Alternate Movie-Only setting, but had a couple issues...
First was that there was at least one instance of massive blocking (pixelating), might ne more but I didn't view the entire movie, just randomly skipped thru. (screenshot linked)
Second is that the audio slowly gets out of sync the further into the movie you get.... by the end it is a very noticeable audio sync problem.
Is this an issue resolved in the new Beta you just released?

Hi!

I bet this is a VC1 encoded disc. This is a problem with libavcodec. Its not working perfectly, you could try to switch to WMV9 in the ffdshow settings. Check then with playing the AVS, if the pixelation still exists.

@jdobbs:
once again the request for DGVC1DecNV support, to get rid of this problems (at least for some users)

ByeThe ffmpeg developers have repeatedly asked for samples of sources that decode incorrectly in libavcodec--if you are going to complain about problems, then you should actually help try to solve them by uploading those samples, rather than relying on a proprietary nVidia-only decoder to solve the problems.

Is this an issue resolved in the new Beta you just released? Three things to check:

1. Look at the copy on HD if you have one. I have had several that did this -- only to find the copy to HD was the problem, I copied again and it was fine.

2. That pixelation often occurs when you skip through an M2TS file. It is from the playback. If you go back a minute or so before the scene you may find that it plays ok when it "plays through" it.

3. That is exactly what you see sometimes when the decrypting wasn't successful. What did you use to decrypt it?

What version did you use to reencode?

@All

In posting any new bug reports, please include the version of BD Rebuilder that you used for testing. If it isn't the latest or you don't include the version -- I will not respond, because if could very likely have been corrected already.

Thanks.

I completely agree. I don't want to spend a lot of time writing code that will only work with certain video cards. There could be no end to it. It just makes sense to me to stick with standard codec support.

Hi!

I am sorry, you are right. I should and will provide samples.

When I first saw these problems on a few discs, I thought it would be easier to support both DirectShow and DGDec-Suite (since jdobbs already has experience with it from DVD-RB), as I dont like the DirectShow approach. I am one of the "install a minimum of Decoders" (Software general).

No it isn't VC-1, it's H.264/AVC. BTW, I haven't had any issues with VC-1 encoded Blurays yet. 300, Dark Knight, ....

Three things to check:

1. Look at the copy on HD if you have one. I have had several that did this -- only to find the copy to HD was the problem, I copied again and it was fine.

3. That is exactly what you see sometimes when the decrypting wasn't successful. What did you use to decrypt it?

What version did you use to reencode?

My rip on the HDD plays perfect, it was decrypted and ripped with AnyDVD-HD.

As for the pixelating, it is at the exact same spot, so not an issue with playback software.

I can give you added info by telling you that I joined the multiple m2ts files from the BD-RB Workfiles folder, using TSSplitter, then remuxing it into BD format with TSMuxer.... and the resulting output no longer has that pixelating. So I'm deducing that it's the BD-RB merging that might have caused the issue??
The audio sync is still there even with the TSSplitter output.... so it appears to have been introduced during BD-RB encoding step.

EDIT: I will try again with the 0.18.04 Beta tonite, but it will be another 8 hours or so. Will be using the Better setting this time and not the High Quality setting.

They're not psychic--they can't magically find the bug you randomly posted on doom9.

Also, ffmpeg doesn't support interlaced VC-1 anyways.

@jdobbs,
Both the cover and BDInfov.0.5.2 reports Max Payne as AVC @ 22MBPS, NTSC version. It has the Theatrical version and the Unrated version, broken up into multiple .M2TS files. Could the audio sync issue be related to audio gaps/clipping that eac3to/HD-DVD/Blu-ray stream extractor reports when demuxing? It reports a second pass will be necessary. I'm not sure if BD-RB addresses issues like this.

I guess that's exactly the point then. Unfortunately there is often much interlaced material in the Extras.

Just did the bugreport, to bad I have not found one with distortions, but one that completely hangs.
https://roundup.ffmpeg.org/roundup/ffmpeg/issue796

Anyway, as they dont support interlaced, whats then so bad to look into alternatives, as there is a working solution (DGVC1DecNV).

I know its not usable for anybody, but at least those who can use it, have the ability to process certain discs an especially without the usage of DirectShow.

It will work if you delete the AUXDATA folder. I have tried it with updated firmware v2.3. Look here:

No it isn't VC-1, it's H.264/AVC. BTW, I haven't had any issues with VC-1 encoded Blurays yet. 300, Dark Knight, ....

Of all the discs I've done (and I've done a lot), I have only run into one issue with VC-1 -- that was on the extras of "Band of Brothers" because it had a stream that was apparently a mix of progressive and interlaced.

Can that individual M2TS file be played independently? (can you open it by itself on the original and play it back without pixelation) If so, the pixelation makes no sense...

I agree it is probably the BF-RB merging that is causing the audio drift. I thought I'd fixed that, but apparently not for every case. I'll look at alternative ways to handle multi-part movie-only encodes.

Tell me this: if you play back the newly encoded M2TS files (in the WORKFILES folder) individually, do they play in-sync?

Do you remember what I told you about audio gaps??? :) You should start to use eac3to tool !

Agreed. eac3to is an absolutely AMAZING tool that has had all of the audio gap/sync issues when dealing with seamless branching M2TS files worked out for quite a while now.

Well I downloaded 18.3 yesterday and did the movie Hancock. I am so pleased it went like a charm and the output is great. Great Job jdobbs. :thanks:

I also did the second X-files movie and that too came out great. So that's 2 out of the three done perfectly.

I've just brought down 18.4 and will be using it on the other X-Files movie. Will post on my results.

@jdobbs

A VC-1 progressive/interlace video plays back at 29.976 fps and the audio goes out of sync.

When playing it back at 23.976 fps with Avisynth, the audio stays in sync.

I've also had 'no' issues with any VC-1 Blurays as well.

As for Max Payne...
Since I actually used the m2ts files from the BD-RB Work Folder thru TSSplitter, and the resulting joined m2ts did not have that pixelating on that scene, I'm guessing it was after BD-RB encoded it and when it was trying to merge them together.
I similarly had an issue with another multi-part title, My Best Friend's Girl... although it was slight stalls and a couple blurry blotching scenes at the same exact spots, on the BD-9 as well. But on this title I had already merged the multiple m2ts files together with TSSplitter, and the resulting m2ts did not have the blurry blotches. It was only after BD-RB encoded it that I seen them, and it transferred over to the BD-9.

As for the audio out of sync, I didn't check the individual files for audio sync issues before I tried joining them, and unfortunately I have already deleted everything from that session.

As I mentioned, the original rip does not have that audio sync or pixelating issue, and I now have used TSSplitter to create a movie only m2ts from the original, and that also does not have audio sync or pixelating issues.

I am planning to run the joined m2ts of Max Payne thru 0.18.04 tonite. If all goes well, maybe I'll try to run it from the original again, but this time using 0.18.04 as well.

just tried your newest beta version and it gives me the Runtime 76, when I press Backup. My source is a ISO image mounted in daemon tools. Here is a screenshot.

http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/946/bdrebuilderay9.th.jpg (http://img206.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bdrebuilderay9.jpg)

my BDRebuilder.ini file:

I found out that the error with the path not found only occure when full backup is selected, if I select movie only, then I have no problem. Im using your latest (0.18.4) version, but the same bug was in 0.18.3. The movie I used is an iso image of Ocean Eleven Region B, with other movies it just give me:

[08:41:09] PHASE ONE, Encoding
- Error in attempt to extract audio/subs.
[08:41:09] - Failed to retrieve audio, aborted

this is with Rambo first blood part 2 Region B. It demux fine in movie-only mode. So I think there is a bug in the full-backup mode.

I did X-Files, the first movie, overnight and this morning I see this error.

http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m216/waynecierkowski/failedtorebuild.jpg

Could this be an issue with the movie structure itself. I was using 18.04 beta and did March of the Penguins with no issue.

Please let me know if you need anyother info to debug this.

Problem solved. The updated version of BR-RB fixed the issue. Backup came out perfect. Thanks jdobbs.

[[Took 24hrs 2 do the whole disc of Hancock. Audio during the ads & coming attractions. There r 2 versions on this disc Theatrical & Unrated. Theatrical shows a frozen blk screen. Unrated played no audio & was blank for the 1st 5min of play which is where the opening credits r supposed 2 show. The beginning of the movie starts 2 play in whole but with no audio. What could have happened here? An error box also popped up stating:

I've successfully encoded to BD9 the Pixar's shorts with the latest build, before the 0.17.x always ended with an error,
just an issue, the subtitles languages are mixed up, if I select Italian I get the Deutsch, to get the Italian I must choose French

Subtitle removal wasn't meant to be implemented yet -- that's why it was grayed out. I completely forgot to disable it in the streams list, though. Bottom line: don't remove subtitles until it is properly implemented.

I've got serious probs with my Panasonic BD-30, in an earlier post about re-coded HD audio i said i'd tested Beowulf (BD-25 17.03) on my Panny and power dvd and the HD audio track didn't work... well i couldn't have tried it in the Panny, because i have just put it in and it plays the Warner logo, then proceeds to scroll through copyright warnings in every Language, and thats it, can't call any menus or anything, but works fine in power dvd 8... Just Finished Resovoir Dogs with version 18.02 (BD-25), Same again, works fine in Power DVD 8, On the Panasonic it loads Lionsgate Logo, then Blank, just crashes Player, after a while i can eject the disk.. I have done loads of straight bd25 copys and they all work fine so i know my media and burning technique are fine.. any ideas?

The workfiles folder contains all the temp files needed to make your copy... they are deleted the next time you make a copy, or you can delete them yourself. Once you have your good copy, they're no longer needed.

Hi!

Could you please by default select all subtitles, for the next version. This saves a lot of clicks, when in full backup mode, the main movie is split in more m2ts files.

I often have german and english more than 1 times and only the first one is selected.

Just FYI JDobbs, I was able to make a perfect BD-9 of Max Payne last night. I did however join the multi-m2ts files with TSSplitter first though (Then Remuxed with TSMuxer).
No audio sync issues, or any pixelated frames, and this was all from the same source rip.

I plan to do X-Files tonite, which is also a seamlessly branched Bluray... then perhaps tomorrow night I'll retry Max Payne with 0.18.04 just to test loading movie-only straight from the full rip files.

I'll report back if X-files (which I also plan to load into BD-RB straight from the full BD files ripped to my harddrive)... or the re-do of Max Payne still has the audio sync issues or any further pixelated scenes.

Hi!

I have now successfully done Starship Troopers.

However, one of the extras is out of sync with audio. I checked, and the problem is, this one mpg2 video file seems to run to fast.

Its on the original disc in MPG2, 480i. There are other extras like that (also mpg2 480i), they dont have the same problem.

While I am investigating this, is it possible, to replace the BD-Rebuilder encoded m2ts file (50 mb, AVC) by the one from the original disc (80 mb, mpg2)? Space is not the issue, and I dont want to run the full encode again.

--------------

Investigated:
Either the file on the disc has a glitch, or ffdshow cannot decode it properly. Hate to say it (said it too often already), but DGMPGDec decodes it properly.

But, jdobbs, please answer my question above concerning the usage of the original file in the BD-Rebuilder created structure.

Bye

@Chefkoch_ico:
If you demux the original .M2TS into its elementary streams, audio and video, rename the files to match identical to BD-RB's files in the "Workfiles", replace it and just press backup again, and as long as you have not changed anything else, it will rebuild again with the new file. You may want to remove the original folder with the first rebuild BDMV files or it will overwrite them.

Can you give any insight into the issue I am seeing now with the latest release of the software.
