View Full Version : BD Rebuilder Beta - Bug Reports Only

@Jdobbs: think i've found a minor interface bug. Reproducing is rather simple i think. Have DTS-E processing enabled, load a disc and double click on the disc title. The flag "edit mode" should now appear on the main window but the edit mode itself isnt activated (like it shouldn't). It's just that the message appears when it shouldn't, that's all. You can swap back & forth between full backup & edit mode, the "flag" stays displayed in both while it probably should only be displayed in the actual edit mode There were a couple of issues with the edit flag - I've corrected them for the next release.

Please forgive me if this issue has already been addressed.
The first title that had this problem was Fellowship of the Ring. What happens is that at some point the video freezes at a certain frame, but the audio continues. I checked the original video (ripped with AnyDVD), and it plays all the way through without freezing. I have tried full-disc, and movie only encodes, but the video freezes at the same frame every time. I figured it was a bad rip, so I borrowed a friends disc. The video freezes at exactly the same frame!
This has now been happening more frequently. Other titles with the same problem are Skyline, Transformers 3, Thor, Matrix, to a few off hand.
Please help!!! What are you using for playback?

While I am not familiar with BD-RB at all, I do know some things about Aften (from Nick's AC3 plugin for DVD2SVCD).
Basically you had the choice between binaries compiled by Kurtnoise or by Wisodev. Wisodev's binaries mostly did not detect CPU capabilities correctly (maybe they did not even try), and this always caused crashes on my P3 Coppermine (MMX + SSE, but no SSE2).
Since Aften is not actively developped any more (according to JRuggles), my advice is to use the latest version from Kurtnoise, and this happens to be v. 0.0.8 from Sept 2007.
Cheers
manolito I just looked at the readme and the one included in BD-RB was from wisodev. I'll search around for a Kurtnoise compile and exchange it.
Is there a sure-fire way to tell which-is-which? I just did a different download, but there don't seem to be any comments that indicate it as Kurtnoise.

I knew it had to be something obscure.
Many thanks for posting this. I assume that the Sept 2007 modification date is a good way to select the Kurtnoise compilation.

I think the modification date and 236kb file size might be the key...

Don't want to make a further issue of it. I experienced it as a problem and reported it. I'm glad I did.Now there is a logical solution. We should all be happy.

Unfortunately no, there isn't. Looks like Kurtnoise gave up Aften altogether (you cannot find it on his site anymore) which is a pity because his Aften related stuff was always very reliable.
Anyways, I salvaged the latest Aften related stuff from his site before it disappeared, I hope he doesn't mind me uploading it to SendSpace:

Hi! I borrowed a friends disc. The video freezes at exactly the same frame! This would indicate that your player is problematic. Try cleaning it with a cleaning disc. Maxell makes one that sells for about $10US...
Try playing YOUR burned disc on your friend's player. Do you have the same problem?

Since a while (OS update? BD-RB update?) wavi.exe crashes at the end of its task instead of terminating properly. I can then terminate the application (wavi.exe) manually and BD-RB continues as expected, and the final result is o.k. Nothing is reported in BD-RB's logfile, so basically no problem with the exception that I have to intervene manually in order to let DB-RB to continue its task. I never had any issues with this until recently
The issue above persisted ever since.
Looks like this version behaves well with my system:

Hi! - Rate/Length: 23.976fps, 1 frames

What is the title of your Blu-ray disc?

I played about 15 seconds of it to see if there was more...there is.
I'm having another issue. X-Men First Class and Harry Potter 2 (not the extra) disk.
I always select Movie Only, BD-25 but I end up with everything (extra features on the disk) but not the movie and the menu. No actual movie. I'm stumped.
I just strated to encode the entire disk to see what I get.

Any ideas? I can't imagine. All it is doing at that point is scanning for MPLS files and looking through them for information. It's possible that a corrupt MPLS might cause that error I guess.
Try backing-up/deleting your BDREBUILDER.INI file and see if that helps.

So, I encoded the entire disk and that worked fine but it took forever. Any ideas why I am having problems with Movie Only which seems to coincide with the BDR update ? Might just be coincidence.
I'm doing Harry Potter and then the extra disk where I had an abort, Movie Only.

If I remember correctly, most, if not all, of the "Harry Potter" Blu-ray discs contain well over 10 hours of movies and extras and would, therefore take considerably longer to process than a more typical 2 to 3 hour Blu-ray...

Are you sure that you selected the correct playlist? I recall re-encoding HP-Half Blood Prince, and the default playlist included lots of additional stuff added at various places in the stream. You may have to pick the correct playlist from the "Other movie-only" dialogue.
greslogo
12th December 2011, 14:14
I have never proactively selected a playlist from the dozens of BRD's I have encoded, when selecting Movie Only, so I doubt it is that. In the case of X-MEN, I tried a few weeks ago with the results, exactly as you describe, and have encoded others since then, successfully Going back to X-MEN I ended up with the same problem. It appears BDR is selecting the wrong playlists on these 2 BRD's.
Here are the choices for HP-EXTRAS under "other playlists"
Playlist 00202 - Playlength 00:53:03 (7 chapters)
Playlist 00204 - Playlength 00:22:31 (2 chapters)
Do you need to guess which Playlist to use or is there some rule of thumb ?

I have updated the links in the first post of this thread to a new version of BD Rebuilder (v0.39.05). Changes for this release:- Added code to check and correct for leading
M2TS file audio weirdness when building to
movie-only from a multipart source.
- Added a hidden option "BEEP_SOUNDFILE". This
item can be set to the path of an alternate
.WAV file to be used as the "Job Completion"
beep. See HIDDENOPTS.TXT.
- Corrected an error in which the "keeping audio"
messages are incorrectly printed for all streams
when "KEEP_HD_AUDIO". The audio was processed
correctly -- but was incorrectly reported in the
status log.
- Corrected an issue in which some AVS settings
may be set incorrectly when processing a non-480i
source when the hidden flag "IVTC_480i" is set.
- Added new code to better prioritize playlists in
determination of main feature.
- Modified menu identification routines with the
intent of improving accuracy.
- Added code to check vbv-bufsize when vbv-maxrate
has been modified (due large audio inclusion) and
ensure the 1 sec buffer limit is always enforced.
- Corrected problems with filter prefixes that could
cause incorrect application.
- Added a new filter prefix. An "s:" prefix tells
BD Rebuilder to include this filter for secondary
video. Note: When used the "s:" should be the
first prefix listed.
- Added inclusion of chapters ALTERNATE/MKV file
output. Chaptering can be disabled by using the
new hidden option "MKV_CHAPTERS=0" (see HIDDENOPTS)
- Modified ALTERNATE rebuilding routines to save time
when using single source (non-mulipart) sources by
not performing the "PT 1" multiplexing.
- Updated the included version of X264.EXE to the
latest release (r2120).
- Updated the included version of X264-64.EXE to
the latest release (r2120).
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

Any ideas? I keep a few old versions and went back and tested the Inspect on them and no reported problems. I did notice that this beta does have different versions of those two apps. My mistake. I incorrectly updated INSPECT.EXE. Everything is ok.
I'll update INSPECT.EXE and repost.

Whooptiedoo, custom notification sounds. All i need now is a third "output folder" browse button and i'll be a very happy camper :D But care to elaborate the use? is it relative to the BDRB folder or to the C:\ root drive?

Whooptiedoo, custom notification sounds. All i need now is a third "output folder" browse button and i'll be a very happy camper :D As I've said repeatedly. A third output folder doesn't serve much purpose (my test show it to have almost no impact on speed) -- so it is a low priority. It also was the one of the biggest complaints I got on DVD Rebuilder. For some reason adding an additional output folder just confuses people.
The "Whooptiedoo" comment is not appreciated. I spend a lot of time on this software with no return on that labor investment. Smart-ass comments just make me rethink whether it is worth it.

My apologies, it's worth it for me. Now i won't have to walk back and forth all the time to see if the job is finished or not? But care to explain how it works?
is the path relative to BDRB like would BEEP_SOUNDFILE=success.wav work, if success.wav was included in the rootfile, does it work with path's like BEEP_SOUNDFILE=..\imgburn\sounds\success.wav or does it need the whole path? Oh and i'll try to make an effort and make some kind of donation to ya, with the newyears bonus coming up ;). I've been using this amazing app for a while now, it's more then worth it.

JD, just so you know, I appreciate and respect what you have given us, regardless how it appears to come across or is received. Make no doubt about it.

It expects a fully qualified path. So it can be anywhere. I wouldn't expect it to work without the complete path -- as it is passed on as-is to the OS for playback, but I haven't tried it.

So BEEP_SOUNDFILE=succes.wav would not work? (technically it is a full path) i would move the file in the BDRB root folder or would it be best to use BEEP_SOUNDFILE=C:\Program Files (x86)\BD_Rebuilder\Success.wav ? (succes.wav i use is the IMGBurn one, maybe offer the choice to users to use that one if IMGBurn is installed. Kinda similar to BDRB being able to send commands to IMGburn )

I've been using BD Rebuilder without problems for some time but with the last beta I have the famous run-time error '5'.
When I go back to the 0.39.04 it works ok and the same with .03 and older versions.

You don't give a lot of information for me to work with. No title, no logs, no settings, no useful information. I guess I could try to read tea leaves to figure out your problem -- but I don't have any.

I said "famous" because I've seen it in the forum other times but I didn't want to offend you.
There´s no much information to say, I mean just download the zip file and uncompress into a folder but when I run BDRB.exe I get the error. I can't even start the program, no logs, no settings and when I run Inspect everything is ok.
As I said It doesnt happens with any other version, just with this new one. I'll still using the 0.39.04.
English is not my native language so excuse if there's any misunderstanding.
