i haven't had issues with MOVIE only for ages, jdobbs

my last "problem" was FULL movie burned to DVD-DL, which did not work until i had multiavchd rewrite the rb output

of course i will report back as soon as i will have used this latest release for the first time no matter what the result may be

or would the latest version perhaps create slightly different material with FULL movie for BD9 so i should repeat the conversion which did not work last time? (http://forum.doom9.org/showpost.php?p=1374410&postcount=6903)

thanx for all your effort! No change for full mode (yet). You may see that in the next version. Right now I'm trying to make movie-only work on as many standalone players as possible. As I understand it, doing a similar ExtensionData() update on non-java full backups will result in similar compatibility. First, though, I want to make sure I haven't screwed anything up by adding it -- and movie-only is the best way to check that out.

I guess I misunderstood at least to some degree. I'd thought there were issues with movie-only on some (Panasonic/Samsung?) players.

If you could keep that (full backup) disc handy, I'll PM you with a link to a test copy as soon as I think I have it ready.

Ratchet the clock down to standard speed as a test and give it a try to see the impact. I know you said it is "rock solid" -- but video encoding has a way of making rocks into sand.
Don't I know it :) It took me quite a while to get the rig stable but now I can run Prime95 for days on end, and CPU temps never go above 65-66 Celsius. This disc is actually the first that's given me any problems in a long time; I've done quite a bunch of successful movie-only and full backups using the highest quality setting with zero issues. And the end result has always been fantastic, so kudos to you and x264 devs.

Anyhoo, I rebooted the box, deleted temp files and started over. It's currently doing pass 2 of VID_00015. No problems yet. Update: job finished without errors.

I guess I misunderstood at least to some degree. I'd thought there were issues with movie-only on some (Panasonic/Samsung?) players.

i can only speak for the Samsung 1600 and BD RB movie only on BD5/9 output runs fine if strict AVCHD setting is used in combination with DVD or DVD-DL media

dts with bd9 will not be played by this Samsung
(on BD-RE it runs fine however)

BD25 with movie only or full movie never failed

If you could keep that (full backup) disc handy, I'll PM you with a link to a test copy as soon as I think I have it ready.

i'll be glad to test/help

i'll be glad to test/helpThat makes sense. It appears the Samsung is assuming that BD-5 or BD-9 is always AVCHD -- and DTS isn't supported in AVCHD. That's why adding the ExtensionData() tags to some output would make it work.

I would think also that any disc that uses java (has JAR files) can't be converted (as a full-backup) at all to BD-9 and used on the Samsung (even if it is run through multiAVCHD). Can you confirm that?

i cannot confirm that yet but will test it

i have never - with one exception - tried a full movie backup on bd5/9 but i will run a test to bd5 with fastest settings now, which i can burn to a dvd-rw and let you know

Hello, I was trying to rebuild Surrogates
made a custom size of 26000 to avoid reencoding the main movie, just removed an audio.
Full disk Backup, Quicker encode on extras
it reencoded all but the main movie, came to a 98% BD-RE size, which was fine. I then tried to rebuild without Quicker encode for extras with all of the same settings and now it is trying to re-encode the main movie, when Quicker encode for extras is not setected, does it gives bigger files and that is why it's re-encoding the movie?
Thanks

I have had great success with BD Rebuilder in the past but just tried it today and the program won't even start. It gave me the error message "Run-time error '52' : Bad file name or number" straight away. Actually it gave me the same error on every builds I tried including the latest. Any idea what is wrong?

I have create a new user and BD Rebuilder works again. But got the following error after a while.

ThanksIt all depends. When using quicker encode, the extras are being encoded with a fixed CRF in order to save time. That could result in larger files than non-quick, it depends on the source. If they are bigger -- it could result in just enough extra space to require a reencode for the feature.

I too Jdobbs, never had a problem with( BD5 and BD9 movie only)- with Ver. 06 and 08. I did have a problem with Full backup to BD9 and no problem with BD25 full backup. Player Panasonic BD30 I'll be waiting for that Full backup update for BD5/BD9.

Sorry to say that running the FULL movie backup test on DVD/DVD-DL is not possible these days.

My Samsung 1600 quit playing BDs (DVDs still worked) and i had to sent it to Samsung's service.
Meanwhile i only have a Philipps player for as a long as the Samsung is serviced.

Ok, Here goes. I installed the BD-RB v0.32.02 (beta) and did 2 encodes with it. I finished 1 and started another without testing the BD-9 disk that was burned. I was in a hurry to go out the door and didn't get around to playing the disk untill now. The BD structure is corrupted somehow and even TNT3 won't play it. It hangs with CPU red lined untill you end it with task manager. I know it works ok on the RBLD'er stuff before this latest version so it has to be whatever you changed on the previous 2 versions. The disks (both BD-9's) won't play in my Panasonic BD-35 either. It say's reading disk and never starts playing. By the way we are talking about a Movie only BD-9 backup that has always worked untill now. Was there something I missed about changing the other tools (FFDshow or AviSynth) or is it just my configuration (Vista 32bit). I thought when I signed on here there would be lots of other reports but it seems I am the only one so far. I will go back to an earlier version and wait to try the next release.

thanks much Jdobbs for BD_RBLD'r, up until now it has worked like a charm.

I have updated the first post of this thread with a new version of BD-RB (v0.32.03). Changes for this release:- Restructured the format of the SETUP dialog in prep
for some upcoming changes.
- Corrected another formatting issue in ExtensionData()
entries of the MPLS and CLPI files.
- Fixed an issue in which some updated CLPI and MPLS
files may not be kept consistent between primary and
backup directories on movie-only encodes.
- Added a new hidden option "PASS_TWO_STATS_UPDATE".
When set to "1", the parameter "--pass 3" will be
used so that the .stats file will be updated.
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

Please try the version I just uploaded -- I've found one more thing that needed to be fixed in the ExtensionData() info that was added in the last couple of versions. If that doesn't work, try adding this to your config options:

FIX_MOVIEONLY=0

Please make sure you report back if the new version doesn't work and you have to use this option -- that means there is something else to fix.

By the way, with respect to new versions:

1) Once the new x264 version is settled down and any more bugs fixed, grab a copy; it fixes one issue related to Blu-ray compliance (MinCR).

2) NAL-HRD is almost done! Then you'll be able to make BD Rebuilder produce compliant Blu-ray streams that should work on all players.

Can't say for sure, but my guess is that it has something to do with dvdfab, because I used AnyDVD and did all three of those titles with no issues whatsoever... AnyDVD is very definitely worth what you pay for it. Hundreds of reencodes, zero issues. Of course it could also be a difference between your player and mine -- but that just doesn't seem to be the most likely cause.

Do you think you could download the trial version of AnyDVD, give it a try, and let me know if the same thing happens? It would be good to know.

you were correct m8 it must have been something to do with dvdfab re-ripped with anydvd without "disable bd-live" and it played but was little messed up(menus, warnings came up in wrong place) so re did it with "disable bd-live" ticked and it seems perfect just gotta watch it through for quality but if any of my other backups are to go by it should be perfect

once again thanks for this awsome programme

@ Jdobbs-- Tested 32.03 and it fixed the problem. I still had all the workfolder files and got it to restart and the finished BD-9 file works with TMT and I will burn shortly. Many thanks for the quick response in getting out a new release.

UPDATE: I tried to burn with TMT like always and it is so BD compliant that TMT keeps asking for a BD to burn to. I had to use Avchd.patcher to get it to burn. Before I was always able to get it to play without checking the strict AVCD box. ????

I burned the Movie only output (that plays fine with TMT to BD-9, BUT in my Panasonic BD-30 the disk doesn't play with the latest version. The resulting disk does play with PowerDVD and TMT. Something is still goofy.

jdobbs i think i have a new problem.

Does BD-RB reencode the Main Menue?
If not there is a problem.

I want to encode the BD of Sleepy Hollow.
The Encoding was fine.
I've tested the encoded Disc with Total Media Theatre and PowerDVD9. All seems fine and the Disc starts.
Also the Menue is starting, but there are no Buttons.
Only the animated Background plays.

BD50 Main Menue is about 180 MB, but the encoded Main Menue has a size of only 50 MB.

So i copied the original 180 MB Main Menue in the Stream Folder of the encoded Disc. The Disc starts and also the Main Menue seems fine with Buttons. But it only plays for 15 seconds and the the Main Movie is starting.

@KeVe1983;
You could try MIN_M2TS_SIZE=250, and see if the particular .m2ts file is removed from the reencode list. If so, try a new backup and see if the menu plays correctly then. This would help trouble shoot the problem.
Also, make sure you are using the latest beta, there has been several updates this past week!

Should i copy MIN_M2TS_SIZE=250 to my BD-RB.ini?
Does it matter where to paste it?
At the beginning, or the end?

Just below "options" in the .INI.
If you look at the changes .txt file in the zip package of BD-RB, scroll down to "March 7th, 2009 - v0.20.03", you will find it.
I am not sure this will work for you, but is worth a try.

It successfully encoded one AVC track, and failed on another -- what did you use to decrypt?

I used AnydvdHD for decryption and copy folders to HD. BTW I got it all working after some advise to install K-Lite Codec Pack. Encoding the full disc is successful. Only problem is that the BD25 works on my PS3 (firmware 3.15) up until the main movie and shows nothing but black. Sound and popup menu still works. The same disc works perfectly on my standalone S550 or HTPC. Any idea what is the cause?

One other issue is that it gives me Error 52 straight away when I try to run BDRebuilder. I solve that by creating a new user. But if I start BDRebuilder using [Run as adminstrator] then it will also give me Error 52.

Movie only projects are still broken for playback on a Panasonic BD35 in BD Rebuilder v0.32.03 (beta).

I will try again but this time but with the FIX_MOVIEONLY=0 switch

To double check I also processed then same project with Ripbot264 v1.15.0 and playback was OK on the Panasonic BD35

FYI: Even when the playback was broken on the Panasonic BD35 stand-alone player, playback was no problem using PC based PowerDVD 9 soft.

Hi Jdobbs, I have a question regarding non correctly mastered Blurays regarding ISO language tagging for the subtitles.

I live in Sweden and lately I've come across 3 recent BD discs that I've purchased that all are having the same error in their mastering.

The authors have abreviated Swedish subtitles as "sve". This is not correct but a common error since Sweden in Swedish is named Sverige.

The error on the disc is easy to go around. All I have to do is to guess that the subtitle marked as "Unknown" by BD-Reb is swedish or just check with eac3to that shows Sve and I can select it. So, what I am asking for, and it is a stretch since the error in not on your side, would it be possible to add sve as well as swe in the program to mean Swedish?

Tried new rebuild with FIX_MOVIEONLY=0. Disk is still not playable except with TMT & PowerDVD. I finaly used Clown to rebuild BD and now it plays fine on DMP-30 SAP. Hope you find the prob.:thanks:

With that switch set you are getting EXACTLY the same output you would have seen from previous versions... unless you are forcing a subtitle or changing the default audio track, the only other change would have been the newer X264 version.

Have you done any recent firmware updates on the Panasonic?

I have not used BD_RB for a while now until you released v0.32.01 - 03 (beta) and so I cannot say from which older version the playback was broken.

I am not forcing any subs (I disable all) or changing the default audio track

I have been using RipBot264 for the last 6 months and so decided it was time to tryout BD_RB again due to using the latest X264 >r1400. So maybe it is to do with X264 r1400 or higher..?

RipBot264 is only upto X264 r1376 so far

The BD35 SAP is running the latest v1.7 firmware since it auto updated back on the 1st Dec last year

Hope the above info helps you out

Just tried my first movie only backup to BD-5 with BD-RBV03203, and my results, though mixed, played back fine on TMT3, PowerDVD 7.3 and my SonyS360.
However, what I did notice that is not working the same as previous vesions, on the Sony S360, is Fast Forward. It appears the movie does not advance fluidly as before, but one picture frame is held on the screen for a long time while the time clock advances, then another frame will display for several seconds while the timer keeps advancing, etc.. so its just not displaying frames during FF as progressively as before, but holding on to one frame for longer during the FF.
The chapter advance is working fine.

@KeVe1983;
glad that worked for you!

I tried to convert the BluRay "Transformers 2 Bonus" (second bluray) to BD-9 (DVD-9). To decrease the amount of data i set the "resize 1080p - 720p" checkbox but only the first two m2ts files where resized. The avs-files generated for the other m2ts had to "LanczosResize" line so they where still 1080p. Any idea why BD-Rebuilder ignores the resize setting?
