It means "path not found" in attempting to copy files from the original disc to the destination. Make sure your source path is still valid.

What version of BD-RB are you using? Always use the most recent.

Path not found? That's weird, I use slysoft to rip the BD to a HD with plenty of space left on the drive.

I just update to 24.02, but like I stated before, I never been able to do a full backup of any BD with any version of BDrebuilder, always get this same 2202 error at the very end. Again, movie only backup never had problem with any version of BDrebuilder.

I guess I can try the newly released 25.01 when I get home tonight.

Question for you Jdobbs, should I delete the working folder which contain all the encoded files and start the backup from the beginning or should I continue where it have left off?

Thanks

Thanks I'd trying continuing. BD-RB keeps track of where it was and can pick up where it left off.

Ok, thanks I try that. I will let you know if the same problem occurred again.

will test batman begins in highest quality 1 pass in 30 minutes, and will let you know how good it was :)

@jdobbs

Just used v.25.01 to perform a one-pass (experimental), highest quality BD-5 movie-only conversion of an original 13.5Gb (13,900.45MB per BD-RB), 1hour 40minute movie:

1) Resultant BD-RB BluRay "package" was a excessively small 2.27GB

2) (I presume) As a consequence, although foreground images were crisp and fully detailed, backgrounds (such as grey walls) were blocky in spots and occasionally exhibited pixel-shifting

Perhaps the methodology you are using for estimating filesize is too conservative/"safe"...

testing batman begins with new beta, one past, high quality (default), full backup mode, and using the algorythm for better quality!, the encodings fps jumped from 4.9 fps (on the second pass with previous beta) to 9-12 fps in crf mode :D in some hours the backup will be ready and will test it and tell you about the quality :)

- Implemented a one-pass CRF mode. This estimates
the CRF needed for the required size and reencodes
using a single pass. Note that this mode is new
and is experimental -- use for testing only, as it
is possible you may get over/undersizing...

Great news. Thanks :)

Yes on both counts. BD-RB is beta software -- which by definition means there are bugs. Why multiply that?

The same is true for preprocessed sources. I feel fairly confident that a bug reported on a commercial source is legitimate. But preprocessing doesn't only have to take into consideration the software in use -- but also the decisions made by the person sitting in front of the computer. Powerful software like TSMUXER and others also give the user a large amount of control --resulting in a high probability of problems.

Here's an example: TSMUXER will let you mux a stream into BD format that is completely outside the BD standard.

I have in the past, and always will refuse to respond to bug reports on preprocessed sources. Why? Because in more than 90% of the cases in my experience that involved preprocessed sources -- the preprocessing was the cause of the error, and I spent way too much time crawling down rabbit holes trying to find an error that didn't exist.

That doesn't mean you shouldn't preprocess for whatever reason you want... I just ask that you not report any issues until you try the same reencode on the original source.

fair comment.

jdobbs - latest 25.01, just tried a Full backup of Days of Thunder UK Disc, i got an error message stating it was unable to create the working folder. Tried exactly the same on 24.02....it's running fine...no settings are different from each of the versions.

Perhaps the methodology you are using for estimating filesize is too conservative/"safe"... I do a 5% sample across the entire movie (96 frames are encoded for every 1920). The sample is then encoded using a one-pass/bitrate method at the required bitrate while creating a stats file. I then go through the stats file and collect the resulting quants. I use the quants to then determine the required CRF value.

I've not experienced anything like you've described. Typically my results are within a 5-10% of what is required.

Any suggestions as to how to make it more accurate are greatfully accepted.

regards Most of the time when you get that error it is because you are doing something in that folder (like browsing, editing, or viewing) and certain files can't be created, removed, or modified. Try it again.

With the last couple of versions (don't remember starting from which one), every time bd-rb starts a x264 encoding job, some random window that I have running just freezes (stops responding), and no matter what I do it doesn't unfreeze until the x264 job has finished and bd-rb starts the next one.

I don't know whether this is a bd-rb issue or x264 issue. but it sure is annoying :)

By the way, this happens in spite of the fact that x264.exe is running on lowest priority and the application that freezes (different one every time) is not cpu intensive (sometime even notepad freezes if I have it running in the background).

Any idea? :)

jdobbs
9th July 2009, 16:06
If things are freezing outside of BD-RB's control -- that sounds like an O/S issue. X264 can and will use 100% of the CPU if allowed -- but if the other app has higher priority that shouldn't happen.

I use other apps all the time (under Vista) while BD-RB/X264 are running and haven't seen anything similar occur.

Tried Transformers last night using high speed option and one pass encoding:Also full backup.

[21:30:45] BD Rebuilder v0.25.01 (beta)
- Source: TRANSFORMERS_D1_EU
- Input BD size: 42.95 GB
- Approximate total content: [02:24:17.398]
- Target BD size: 22.46 GB
[21:30:45] PHASE ONE, Encoding
- [21:30:45] Extracting A/V streams [VID_00013]

- [21:32:47] Extracting A/V streams [VID_00010]
- [21:59:27] Reencoding: VID_00010 (2 of 2)
- Analyzing complexity using 5.0% sample.
- Selected CRF value of 22.59 for encode.
[01:33:51]PHASE ONE complete
[01:33:51]PHASE TWO - Rebuild Started
- [01:33:51] Rebuilding BD file Structure
[01:34:51] - Encode and Rebuild complete
[01:34:51]JOB: TRANSFORMERS_D1_EU finished.

The only problem i encountered was the undersizing(better undersized than over sized though)Came out at 16.4GB AND THE QUALITY IS GREAT! WELL DONE.As you can see the difference in the speed WOW.............

finished batman with the high speed option for bd25 pretty fast, cant remember how many hours did it take, but i think it was like 7 or 8 for a fucll backup with the algorythm for better quality, great job jdobbs :D

I backed up DEATH RACE using one-pass encoding and high speed option to BD-25.
Everything seems to be ok with the encode, quality is great, just a small undersizing at 19GB I think it was aiming for 22.4GB
It took me 32hours at the weekend to do an encode with 5hours of content, this took about 4hours to do about 4hours of content. FANTASTIC.

I use other apps all the time (under Vista) while BD-RB/X264 are running and haven't seen anything similar occur.

I even tried setting the other app's priority to realtime (highest possible), still would not unfreeze until x264 is done.
Again, this happens even for IDLE apps that require no cpu at all, like a running notepad, windows just freezes.

It does, however, seem like the application itself keeps functioning and only the GUI is frozen (which should suggest this is not a cpu resources problem). For example, my download manager's window froze on my last encode, but it was still downloading. and after x264 finished, I could see how it progressed.

Are you sure this has nothing to do with bd-rb or x264?

Just a quick question if anyone had issues with animated (japanese anime) movies coming out REALLY undersized. I did a movie only Backup of one and the encode/build was fine (did not use 1 pass) but the final result was a 11.5 GB file(original BD was 44GB)!!!! Just curious if this is b/c its animation that the bit rate worked fine at a low file size.

hey Sharc, are you sure to do a 1 pass to bd9? i think jdobbs recommended not to do this, i think he said that ill be good for bd25, but im not 100% sure One-pass is ok for BD-9 -- but I'd recommend against using the high-speed encoding setting. It disappears from the menu for BD-9, but you can still force it in the INI.

I was trying to shrink "forgetting Sara marshal".
At first i was doing it with 23.02 and then tried again with 24.02.

The process was finish successfully.
The result at first glans looks Good the menu and the movie.
But there is an extended version for this movie that isn't working at all on all player and on my PC (using powerDvd 8).
Choosing the extended version result in black screen player get stuck.

I tried to investigate and i found the the MPLS in this move is really confusing, i couldn't find the two MPLS's that contained the the two movies , the regular and the extended version and it looks like most of the MT2S file are part for the movie.I though the problem is because i set MIN_MT2S_SIZE=400 that BD-RB didn't process some movie file, there fore create mismatch on the audio/PGS for the movie part.
I tries to reduce it to 1 (0 didn't work because there ate very small file that the BD-rb cant process and i get en error) and the same result.

I also notice (using bd-rb 24.02) that there are secondary video which probably suggested that this move has PIP??

AT the end the problem is that the extended version for this movie isn't working after process (i check the original and it is working properly).

Any idea why??

Any idea why?? Did you try to do the movie from scratch with 0.25.1? I ask because I added some code that should reduce the likelihood of a stream that fails.

Setting the MIN size shouldn't have the affect you mentioned, because any smaller stream that is a component within a larger stream that is being encoded will not be excluded from encoding (no matter what MIN setting you choose).

Slightly off-topic but hopefully of interest. I just got a LG BD370 and it has full disc capability on bd-5/bd-9/bd-25 (everything my Sony 550 plays it does). On top of that it will play most media types (including high res mkvs) off disc or USB.

I have put more details in the thread about compatible players.

I get the same error (post 3782) for another disk as well ... when it tries to extract the audio from the main feature. No problems with the audio of the Extras.
I'll now try extracting directly with tsMuxeRGUI to see if I run into the same problem.

Added: No problem with manual audio extraction using tsMuxerGUI.

Added2: I found that it is the subtitle .pgs (PGS_001 German) which causes the problem with BD-RB v0.25.01(beta).
It demuxes fine when doing it manually with tsMuxer

Hi Everyone, I want to put out kudows to JDobbs for this most excellent program and will be trying out the latest build 25.02 later today. I really enjoy keeping up with this thread and seeing this work-in-progress as it moves along. I only have one problem that I am dealing with. I usually have been doing movie only BD-9 bkups with AC3 audio because I only want the DVD+R DL space used for the PQ. On the few times I have tried full bkup it plays fine on PWDVD but not on my SAP (DMP-BD30). I have tried all the different compatability fixes (AVCHD Patcher & Certificate folder +/-) but nothing seems to make a playable BD structure. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

jdobbs i had a problem with transformers, when i tried to do a custom size (23xxx mbs) bd 25 output, x264.exe stop working:

[14:26:39] Reencoding: VID_00013 (1 of 5)
- Encode failed. Retrying.
- Encode failed. Retrying.
- Reached retry limit. Aborting.
[14:26:49] - Failed video encode, aborted

then i choose bd-25 output and its working good:
[14:27:05] PHASE ONE, Encoding
- [14:27:05] Extracting A/V streams [VID_00013]
- [14:27:10] Reencoding: VID_00013 (1 of 5)

jdobbs,

I sometimes have a disc which is already a bd-25, so no need to compress it. However, I want to add custom subs to it (to replace one of the existing tracks).

What I do is use tsmuxer to replace an unwanted substream with my own srt file (which is then encoded to PGS when I mux), keeping the number of streams the same.

Then, I replace the muxed m2ts with the original one on the disc, and edit the clipinf file with "clipinf editor" to fix header/length if necessary.

This works 99% of times. The other 1%, powerdvd won't play the movie (plays the disc, just not the movie). The workaround I found for this is to let BD-RB do it's magic on the disc, and since it doesn't require any reencoding, bd-rb just demuxes and remuxes. I replace one of the demuxed PGS's with my custom ones before it gets to the rebuild process.

Then it DOES work. So I was wondering, what does BD-RB do to the clipinf file that I'm missing when doing it manually?

I know this is kinda offtopic, so thanks in advance! :)

It will defeat the purpose of copying a disk if I can't resize the content on it, I want to compress it or whats the use. LOL

The funny thing is that the only movies I want to keep the full disk on have very little special features or xtra content.I only want full disk because of the menu selections.
