Fascinating. I didn't even bother looking in the folder until just now lol :S I wonder why BDRB doesn't throw a message, in that regard.

Apparently, it doesn't exist.
- Can't open file: U:\BD-S FOR BURNING\WORKFILES\VID_00276_2.AVS.264

Contents of the workfiles folder:
are far too large to post. 16K character limit, and it's pushing 26K. I'll attempt to attach a text file, for Jdobbs inspection. But I'm not seeing it in there.

I looked, and noticed it wasn't there. It's also in the log I posted. That's why I giggled that I should have noticed that first. It wasn't locked by some other program. Otherwise, even if the process had marked it hidden...BD-RB should have found it. :-)

@ JD, I ditto that sweet!

Right; that's how MULIPROCESS is supposed to function if there aren't any "bugs". ;)

Hi.

I'm not sure if this qualify as a bug.

I'm trying to do a full back-up with non-english audio tracks and sub-titles removed but when i played the resulting copy in PowerDVD the non-english audio tracks and sub-titles remain in the context menu as a selectable option. Although selecting any of it will only enable english audio tracks and subtitles. This does not happens when using VLC.

This is my first post. Appreciate any help in this very helpful forum.

Thanks.:)

Thanks.:)Not a bug. You have to keep those options available -- as they might be selectd via HDMV commands or BD-J. Removing them might make a full-backup disc unplayable. Instead, BD-RB simply points those options at the first of the audio tracks that are kept.

@ JD

59.94 FPS with 720p video.

I'll start over. I gave you a clip that's has a frame rate of 59.94 FPS. It's a 720p video from TiVo processed by VideoReDo TV Suite to MPG (commercials removed). You might still have it, I don't know. You looked at it, and fixed a challenge with BD-RB not rerendering that. So it was fixed in BD-RB 0.50.01. However, with 50.05 something became broken. Same options used in 50.01 are not resulting in smooth Alternate MKV. The video plays at slow motion but audio speed is normal, as expected. So the audio is way ahead. When you made the fix for 50.01 the only options needed are MULTIPROCESS=0, IVTC_SELECTION=1 then enabling it from right clicking the VID after Setup's "IVTC sources with 3:2 pulldown" enabled. Something changed/broke with 50.05 after trying different options, which is why I've been using 50.01 for 59.94 FPS conversions to 23.976 using MKV Alternate 1920x1080 - Intact Audio. I hope that helps.I've fixed this for the next release. It stopped working due to changes that were implemented in v0.50.02:December 28th, 2014 - v0.50.02
...
- Corrected an issue in which deinterlacing
filters might be used on a 720p source.

I have updated the first post of this thread with a link to the most recent version of BD-RB (v0.50.06). Changes for this release:- Modified the one-pass CRF routines so that
a CRF encoding oversize of 2% or more will
automatically cause a second pass for size
correction.
- Added MENU_BACKDROP_AUTOSIZE as a new hidden
option. When set to "1" the menu backdrop
will highlight only the number of items in
the list.
- Modified MENU_TOP hidden option. Now it can
be set to any value from 100 to 910. This
combined with MENU_BACKDROP_AUTOSIZE makes
it possible to vertically position the menu
in the viewing space. Note: If MENU_TOP's
value would cause graphic overrun beyond the
bottom of the screen -- it is automatically
adjusted up so the menu will fit. So if you
want to justify your menu from the bottom of
the page -- you can just use the value 910.
- Corrected an error in which the output size
could be extremely off when outputting to
an ALTERNATE preset while certain audio
settings preferences were selected.
- Corrected an error introduced in v0.47.05 in
which multipart sources using DGDECNV with
multiprocessing can cause an error "Can't
open file: ..." for the secondary video
followed by an abort of the rebuild.
- Corrected an issue in which selecting the
dropdown choice for inverse telecining from
the streams list was not working for 720p
sources (59.94fps).
- Updated the included version of MKVMERGE and
MKVEXTRACT to a newer version (v7.8.0). This
fixes some reported ALTERNATE encoding and
output issues.
- Updated the included version of the FRIM
utilities and library to v1.25. Several
new options included, plus better stdin
command line support.
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

Yay!! Downloading! Getting more decaf Tea ready... Also excited about the BACKDROP stuff!

Nice G.U.I. Addition! Thanks a lot for getting the 720p (59.94fps) to function again. :D :D I've only tested with a couple sources, but ahhhh!! It would be nice for the dropdown IVTC to be "remembered" for Batch, but I can handle it not functioning that way.

Using BD Rebuilder v0.50.06 .
With File/Import/Video Files (MKV,MP4,AVI,TS,...),
Mode/Movie-Only backup checked
Alternate Movie-Only Output checked
Settings/Encoder Settings/Automatic Quality Settings checked

Most of the files I try get this error:
runtime error '70′: permission denied
The error comes up early shortly after the import.

However some MKV files work .
They go through the complete process.

My OS is Windows 7 home premium .

Any help on the error will be appreciated.

Please post your log and your settings (BDREBUILDER.INI). It sounds like you don't have access to either the working or the import folder(s).

[Edit] I just imported 6-7 MKV, AVI, MP4, and MPG files. I'm not seeing any issues.

Agreed. I've imported several MKVs so far to test some stuff, and so far...all is well. All are created by other versions of BD-RB as well as this new 50.06.

I agree, and thoughts perhaps it was because of the previous bug. But, only did a short test. More coming.

Hi all,

I've read 1000s of posts out of curiosity...and dozens of posts related to my issue/question. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Love BD-RB, so thank you JDobbs!

Issue:
When converting BD50 to DVD5, it creates 2 sets of subtitles (primary and secondary). Is this normal? Never saw it on BD5. Looks to be some kind of duplication going on.

Anyway, in the primary set of subtitles, BD-RB always keeps the first subtitle ON (even though nothing is ON prior to encoding). Note: When watching the movie, it's easy to turn it off via the player settings (PC or stand-alone blu-ray player). It's just an annoyance.

However, I'd like to disable this feature if possible.

If this is 'an undocumented feature with undesireable results' that can be modified or removed to fix this issue, I'd love to hear the solution.

Thanks again!

(see screenshot within PowerDVD--movie is playing but screenshot only collects data on the player controls, not the movie)

jdobbs

BD-RB isn't turning any subtitle on unless you default them on from streams list. It's your player that is doing that. The exception might be in a full-backup when the original disc had the subtitle defaulted on (very rare).

BD-RB doesn't create secondary subtitles, nor does it create two sets. In fact, there is no such thing as a "secondary subtitle" in the blu-ray standard. That is a feature of PowerDVD that can display two sets at a time (so, for example, you could have two on to make a comparison and learn a new language).

Hi Jdobbs,

Not kidding, every single DVD5 has a primary and secondary subtitle set in PowerDVD. In the blu-ray or DVD player, you're right. There is only 1 set of subtitles. However, whether using PowerDVD, a stand alone blu-ray or DVD player, those subtitles are always on for some reason. I don't turn on any subs in BD-RB, so I'm not sure what could be doing it. Using the same settings for BD5, the subs are off as expected.

Has anyone else ever experienced this? Perhaps few use BD-RB to create DVD5 ISOs...

:(

Any help is appreciated.

Any help is appreciated.Part 1: I thought I just explained it. It is the player. It has nothing to do with BD Rebuilder. There is no secondary subtitle. It's physically impossible. No such animal. As for the subtitles being on, it's the player also -- check your settings in PowerDVD. Make sure you don't have the default language set to something other than what it should be.

Part 2: Before posting something you experience with a software player -- you need to try it on a standalone BD player. I can't respond to bugs in player software or to the player's idiosyncrasies. PowerDVD has lots of both.

@cholla

Try deleting C:\TEMP01 and create it again. Also -- did you unzip all of v0.50.06 or just the EXE? There was a similar bug I discovered in MKVMERGE (v7.5.0) that was fixed with the latest release (v7.8.0, which I've included with v0.50.06).

Ahh, I have found some older MKVs (BD-RB) that aren't importing due to...supposed errors. However, when I reprocess them with MKVMERE (which doesn't show errors) they still don't process. I'm looking into it more. I'm wondering if it's a case of TSmuxeR being "too" picky or something? More testing..

I use parenthesis sometimes. I've never noticed the process stopped by them. Even when it's (1) in a file name by MKMERE.

That's not needed. I've watched the extraction to TEMPIMPORT happen a few times now, and once MKVExtract is done TSmuxeR starts.

The fails I've seen are after "Collecting audio/video streams from source..." (MKVExtract) and during:
"Building pseudo-BD source structure..." (TSmuxeR). So, my guess is that it noticed some "flaw" in the video stream and terminates. Hmm.. I'm currently going through a large list also.

However, I'll go ahead and go back to an older, like v4.5.0, and try it anyway with the failed MKVs.

Hi guys, I always use the One pass ABR encoding method and I never try out the CRF method, so what´s better for my encodings to bd 25? (I want quality) Anyway There´s some method on Bd rebuilder for encoding movies in two passes so depend of the scene Bd rebuilder will assign best quality?

My recommendation: In the Settings menu simply select "Automatic Quality Settings" and select the Target Size "BD-25". BD-RB will do the rest (like 1-pass or 2-pass) for you automatically.
Report back if you should - unexpectedly - not be very happy with the result.

You can also select "One Pass (CRF) Encoding" plus "High Quality (Default)". The encoding may take just longer without any visible benefit.
If you unselect both "One Pass (CRF) Encoding and "One Pass (ABR) Encoding) you will get a 2-pass encode.

But again, just trust in "Automatic Quality Settings".

I've been trying older versions like 4.5.0 which produced very quick failure. Then used v5.6.0 and a failed MKV of BD-RB 50.05 release imports complete. I thought you were using more simple calls to MKVExtract and TSMuxeR was doing error handling. You have several diagnostic checks in place. @cholla

If it makes any difference my desktop computer which is the one that gets the error has Windows 7 HP 32-bit.

First to answer your questions.
I had unzipped all of v0.50.06.
I went ahead & downloaded on 4/13/2015 a fresh copy & did the same.
It has the MKVMERGE (v7.8.0 .

I deleted C:\TEMP01 but instead of creating it again I created a "TEMP" folder inside the BD Rebuilder folder .
I shortened the name of the file to "aerosmith02.mp4".
I also copied this into the BD Rebuilder folder.

All this didn't help.

So I disabled my antivirus & antimalware software .
I still got the error.
Then I closed everything else I coud with a software named "End it All". Except what I needed to run the OS.
Still got the error.

I then booted into Safe mode & my Windows 7 will complete the conversion in Safe mode.
So it is something stopping it from working in Normal mode.
I just can't find what it is.

BD Rebuilder also works on my Vista OS in Normal mode.
On the same file.
The Vista OS is on the same computer on a separate hard drive .

I haven't yet tested BD Rebuilder on my laptop which has Windows 7 HP 64-bit.

This isn't related to BD-RB bug report so I'll keep it short. Press Windows + R and you'll then see a Run box. In that type "MSConfig" but without quotes. Select "Diagnostic startup". Click "OK". It'll prompt to reset, allow it. After that...try BD-RB. If BD-RB completes with your Windows 7, then check what's unchecked in the Startup tab. Be careful with this program, it's meant for advanced users. I don't accept any responsibility if you "break" something; use at own risk. ;-) Remember, Windows 7 will stay in "Diganostic mode" until you run that program again and select "Normal startup" then "OK". :D

I know you said you disabled them -- but it sure sounds like antivirus interference to me. But just as an experiment, right click on the BD-RB executable and say "Run as Administrator" and see if it gets around the issue.

I'm currently running BD-RB on Windows 7, 64 bit.

Maybe there are other ways to check for inconsistency? MKVExtract is pretty cool. Maybe........silent lucidity...leave more intensity to TSmuxeR? As stated, if x264 fails...the video is corrupt?

Maybe I'm missing something?

Hi all, i have a problem with italian bd christmas carol...i have to reencode bd to write it in a blank single layer disc.
The main movie has a secondary video (second screen) and seems that BDrebuilder goes to encode only this secondary video and stop (the main movie instead remains like original); in this way bd is over 23 Gb and i can’t write it.
This is the report of bd-rebuilder if it can help:

@ AmigaFuture , I tried the "Diganostic mode" & still the same results .
It ended up putting a lot of my "Services" settings back to default. So I restored with Acronis with a backup I did a couple of weeks ago.

I know you said you disabled them -- but it sure sounds like antivirus interference to me.
I plan to pursue this route over the next couple of days.
I don't believe an antivirus program is the problem because I'm using the exact same antivirus & anti malware on Vista & my laptop wit W7 64-bit.
The laptop also worked with this .mp4 with no error.
As far as I know the settings I use in all are the same.

But just as an experiment, right click on the BD-RB executable and say "Run as Administrator" and see if it gets around the issue.

Good suggestion . I had already been doing that just in case.

Just to say this again it works with some .mkv files on W7 32-bit .
So far not with .mp4 ,.avi , or .m2ts .

So what is the size of the encoded disc?
We can't see your settings. Can you post the bdrebuilder.ini?
Did you put FORCE_NOENCODE=1 in your bdrebuilder.ini?

Seems you have selected a BD50 as target, or used a custom target size. You should select a BD-25.

Secondly, you seem to be using an outdated version of tsmuxer. Use the one which is shipped with BD-RB.

GiovAHD

Size is 23.73 GB as you can see in my first post..that is a bd25 size.
I use tsmuxer 1.10.6 because the last version, in my opinion, is only good for bd 3d....but for bd 2d is better and more accurate 1.10.6 version.

From your second post - dbrebuilder.ini:
TARGET_SIZE=40000
CUSTOM_TARGET_SIZE=45000
With these target sizes the source will be copied intact which will result in an oversize for a BD25.
Or does your second post belong to a different case?

tsmuxer:
Who told you this?
Forget any support for BD-RB if you prefer your own tool versions. See the first post of DB-Rebuilder regarding tools.
BD-RB generates .meta files which are compliant with the new tsmuxer version.

Edit:
In your first post (the log):
- Decoding/Frame serving: DGDecNV [4-way]
I have not seen this [4-way] before ..........

@GiovAHDSize is 23.73 GB as you can see in my first post..that is a bd25 size.
I use tsmuxer 1.10.6 because the last version, in my opinion, is only good for bd 3d....but for bd 2d is better and more accurate 1.10.6 version. There are functions performed by BD Rebuilder that require the newer TSMUXER that is included. The new version does more than just "3D". There were a number of bug fixes and improvements in how it works. BD-RB took advantage of those improvements. Also, you are using a target size of 40000. That number doesn't come from BD-RB, so I'm assuming you modified it yourself. Of course it's going to be too large. The video isn't being reencoded because your target is too big -- resulting in your output oversize.

Secondly, 23.73GB is not the target size for a BD-25. If you calculate it out you will get 25,479,893,483 bytes -- and that won't fit. (23.73 * 1024 * 1024 * 1024). So even if you DID set that size (rather than what your INI clearly shows) it wouldn't work. That's also completely ignoring possible inaccuracies in encoding, historical issues with outside tracks on BD-R, and a number of other factors.

This is a completely self-inflicted problem.

Delete your INI, reinstall, and leave the default settings alone -- and you won't have issues.

Hi Jdobbs and thanks for your reply.

1. I Don't use tsMuxeR 1.10.6 so for fun, but because I found some problems in the new tsMuxeR (eg it cuts, in several bd, a few seconds of the main movie and movie lenght of bd rebuilt is shorter than the original movie);
However I will make a test with the new tsMuxeR in this bd that gives me problems;

2. The set up target size of bd rebuilder does not allow to fill a blank bd up to its maximum capacity (23.2 GB), with my custom size (which is not a random number) all bd always go out of 23 GB (I did in this way many bd and all are fully functional), in this case the target used for bd however was of 23.73 GB as you see in my first post not 40 GB;

As you see I understand and I rate it well before doing things, nothing to chance.
Having said that I will make several attempts with new tsmuxer and then I'll tell you the result.

Thank you all, John.

Ps. with "4-way" activated pc starts four processes of x264 simultaneously and uses more ram accordingly.

Really?
Are you serious in believing that 23.73 GB will fit on a BD25? Read jdobbs reply carefully. Your oversize is just the proof that your problem is self inflicted. When you have been successful in the past with this custom size it was just by luck. The encoding size is never 100% accurate, and that's the main reason why BD-RB plans for some margin which you misinterpret as "undersize".

You can either listen to those who know more than you -- or you can continue to fail. Your response gives a clear indication that you will continue to fail. Unfortunately it will be because you think you know more than you actually do.

As you see I understand and... No. I see very clearly that you don't understand.

Your problem is also very clearly not a bug, and I've made that clear. This thread is for bug reports, not self inflicted problems. But just as an FYI -- you can set that value all the way up to 32 -- though anything over 4 is probably best left to future processors.

Frankly based on his response I think he's convinced he knows more than either of us, so I'm not sure further comments will be of any value. Oh well, it's not the first time. On to the next bug report.

Solved: Run-time error '70' Permission denied .
Windows 7 SP1 32-bit .
It was a permissions error.
Some of this didn't fix the error but are steps I did & left in place.
They may or may not have been necessary.
1. On the BDRB.exe I set Properties/Security/Advanced
Permissions, Auditing, & Owner tabs to Administrator Full control.
This didn't stop the error .

2. In the Compatibility Tab/ Compatibility mode / "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" checked
I first used : "Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)" /Apply/OK
This worked .
I then tried : "Windows 7" (this would be without SP1) /Apply/OK .
This also worked.
I then unchecked: "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
Then tested a file again & got the error.

3. I decided to check: "Run this program as an administrator" .
This worked . So it should be running in Windows 7 SP1.
It's possible that only step 3 is necessary . I would try it first.

It worked on: .AVI , .m2ts , .mp4 , .mkv , & .mpg.
I didn't have any .mov files to test.

Before this I tried "Right click" "Run as administrator" on the BDRB.exe.
This didn't stop the error . I think it should have but it didn't.
I hope this helps anyone else with this error.
