Exactly. Unfortunately I haven't been keeping up with changes -- so I can't say whether there are any that might create an incompatibility.

No worries. NVENCCRE is working great for me so far. And I appreciate you have added it!

I use it all the time without issue. When I get some extra time I'll go through the code and see how it can happen. It has to be something in the settings.

Many thanks. I've tried everything I can think of short of reinstalling on a fresh copy of Windows. It has to be something on my machine or with my settings, but when I found the bad command-line parameters being passed to faac, I got to the well-how-did-it-ever-work-then stage

It'll be nice to be able to use BD Rebuilder again; I miss it :)

Many thanks

If you have NeroAAC encoder installed you can use that instead of FAAC. Just collect the path and add it to the [Paths] area of the INI file.

Excellent, thank you. Up and running again!

Many thanksI just realized the difference. I use Auto-AAC encoding. It follows a different path than a fixed bitrate.

I'll correct the fixed bitrate issue and post a new release.

I'm getting this error "ExtractAudioSubs() 00053 1604 [17:14:36] - Failed to retrieve audio, aborted" on some new UHD discs, weirdly the affected file does not have any audio or subs.

Oh, it is one of those "you are an idiot for trying to play a 4K video on your 1080 display device" videos. Ya, those don't have to come with audio. You might try a BDRB setting whereby the file will be ignored unless it is a certain size/length.

BDRebuilder does not work with BDs containing E-AC3 audio only. It throws "Unsupported media type 135 for AVCHD/Blu-ray muxing" when muxing. This is a tsMuxeR issue that has been fixed in recent builds. However it is not possible to just replace tsMuxeR as the new versions use .ec3 as file extension and add the language to the file name as well but BDRebuilder expects the old format. Patching singleFileMuxer in tsMuxeR and use a custom version works.

Yes, I know it is not 100% compliant to the standard but it works.

Is there any possible way to convert a 4K HDR Remux back into a UHD folder in order to convert it to a smaller file size with BDRebuilder?

I've gotten really close when using File > Import but after the transcoding process, it fails at the rebuilding stage.

Yes, I could use DVDFab or Handbrake but I really don't like the results of those two programs. BD Rebuilder produces the best converted, smaller 4K files I've ever seen.

You can try the nightly TsMuxeR to create a disk structure

I appreciate your response.

I actually did use the latest nightly from tsMuxeR before I tried it within BD Rebuilder.

It's not really a big deal to me as I normally convert directly from Blu-ray folders, but this feature would place this program at the top of the mountain, in my book (even though it's really already there as it is :p).

If you want a smaller file size wrapped into a MKV, or MP4, file, you can use NVENCCRE.

I just closed that window before I came back to this forum and I don't have time to run it again because I'm just going out the door.

It said something like...

Thanks for your response.

How do I utilize it? From within BD Rebuilder? Do I replace the native NVEncC.exe file there?

I was simply experimenting, hoping to reverse the process and go from REMUX to UHD Blu-ray folder structure and then to a smaller file size. However, the program apparently does not like if the 4K Blu-ray structure isn't from the original disc, since tsMuxeR cannot fix it to work properly with BDRebuilder.

You don't. It is a separate tool. Search his thread for info about it and where to download it from.

Keep in mind, like BDRebuilder, you need a compatible nVidia card in order to do hardware encoding. Otherwise the software encoding will take many, many, hours.

That is just way too many steps for a simple job. That is where the standalone program comes in handy.

NVENCC does all the work if you pass it the appropriate command line parameters. I just recompiled NVENCCRE.exe and here is a version (https://jammernhilftnichts.de/jdobbs/NVENCCRE.zip) that supports reencoding with the HDR characteristics.

I didn't add support for HDR10+ until I test it a little. I'm trying to decide whether NVENCC's experimental setting is stable enough to add it.

Hi all, wondered if someone could help; I've been using BD Rebuilder for many years without issue, but recently a back-up hasn't worked as normal (or at least I don't think it has). The original movie, when ripped, was split into 14 files - this seems to happen on certain movies for some reason. When I went through my normal process with BD Rebuilder, it created the correct file size (as per my normal settings) but still split into 14 files - I'm pretty sure it used to recompile (if that is the right word) into one file.

It feels like I have a setting wrong, or maybe one of the external components incorrectly configured - I haven't reinstalled as yet, thought I'd ask here first?

Many thanks for your help.

Your movie might have fit without encoding. The disc should work fine, but if you wish you can use FORCE_ENCODE=1 in your configuration file.

There are many movies that are more than one part on the disc. That could be for several reasons. One of the reasons is burned-in on-screen text in different languages, i.e., the title of the movie, the cast and the closing credits. Another is for a strange way of doing copy protection, which I won't go into trying to explain here. The biggest reason is a release with two versions: theatrical and extended.

If the size of the movie fits on a 25 GB disc, there won't be a need to recompile. It will just be assembled into a single file.
It feels like I have a setting wrong, or maybe one of the external components incorrectly configured - I haven't reinstalled as yet, thought I'd ask here first?
I seriously doubt that reinstalling will fix it.

Since we have no clue as to what the movie is, further assistance is a little difficult to provide. Output log from BDRB and MediaInfo information about the original files would be a plus. Be sure and code wrap those listings when posting.

Many thanks both - sorry I wasn't clear, I'm not backing these up onto a disc, just onto my PC for playback on Kodi. They play fine, I just have to possibly rename them to play correctly - nothing to do with BD Rebuilder.

But it's just that until recently no other movies have done this before - they've all recomplied as a single file, so I was a bit confused.

I'll try force encode next time i backup a movie that is split into several parts.

Many thanks

You should be able to copy all of the M2TS files into a single file.

Hi, I recently build a new system with a 13900K processor running on Windows 11.
I ran my first real encode now.
It failed and aborted.
Is there something I'm not doing right?
Here are the logs ... PLEASE HELP ...Is there something wrong?

Strange that it completed pass one with no issue -- and then failed 3 minutes into pass 2... any chance the system overheated?

Have you tried running the command line from LASTCMD.txt from a DOS (command) window? You'd have to do it right after it failed to make sure everything needed is still there (e.g. the stats file).

So I take it, you don't see anything wrong?

What I see wrong is this: SOURCE_PATH=P:\A NEWLY DOWNLOADED\THE AGE OF INNOCENCE BD50 CC\
It looks like you downloaded the source. If this is true you can get banned from this forum
You'd better cleaned your logs before posting them here

If you run it from the command window, at least you will see what error occurs within X264.

I ran it again with slower clocks, it passed. So I guess it's the computer, it hasn't had any problems in quite a while, but now it won't pass prime95 either.
working the issue. Thanks.

Hey Guys! Long time... I'm surprised to see that the thread has moved so little in the last year.

I've got one of those framerate/interlaced/telecined puzzlers that always throw me. I haven't run into one in quite a while, but what I have is an HD rip that when played back on computer has all kinds of what LOOKS like combing effects. Now, no matter how much I've read about this, I still cannot quite get my tiny mind around it. I'm GUESSING from what I've read is that maybe it is something like an interlaced source improperly encoded progressively or something like that.

I tried importing the MKV file into BDRB and checked the 'IVTC Source with 3:2 Pulldown' box (I still have NO bloody idea exactly what that means) and I have the Deinterlaced box checked. I tried encoding it as an alternate output MKV at the same resolution with audio intact. The result though looked just as bad. I'll try to include a snippet of the video so that those of you who know this kind of thing will likely recognize what's going on here and what to do. What is interesting is that when I play the file back with MPC I'm pretty sure it looks better, like the player is somehow automatically employing some kind of filter. But, when I play it with VLC, it looks bad.

Here is the MediaInfo of the file:

Are there specific AVS scripts that I should try to 'fix' or at least improve this? Can I just plug them into BDRB and run them (I'm kind of fuzzy on where BDRB calls the scripts from, can I just put any AVS script in there or what?)

I'm going to try to put a link here to the file on my site, hopefully you will be able to download it and see what is going on. It is just an 18 second, 21 Meg video snippet:

https://lathe-of-heaven.com/Snippet.mkv (http://lathe-of-heaven.com/Snippet.mkv)

You might get some kind of security warning about my site because it is super old, but the file is just simply hosted there. I tried the link and it SEEMED to prompt a download of the MKV Snippet.

Thanks!

Jaime.

Your snippet is 25 FPS progressive.
It is also a hot steaming pile of you know what.
Looks like it has gone through a bad conversion.

Guessed damage sequence: NTSC-> PAL blendconversion, blackbars cropped, then uprezzed to FHD.
Now to undo that, something along
ConvertToYV24()
AssumeTFF()
Lanczos4Resize(720, 446, src_left=0.0, src_top=0.0, src_width=0.0, src_height=0.0)
SeparateFields()
shows the nature, but does not repair the blends, more work to be done.

What is the latest word on getting BDRB and NVENCCRE to place I-frames at chapter marks when encoding HEVC/H265?

IMHO, it is a lost cause. Converting 23.976 frame/sec interlaced video to 25 fps progressive is always going to end up with messed up frames. Even professional standards converters can have issues. That was one of the reason for speeding up 480 analog material when going to 525 digital.

My suggestion... try and find a copy of the original source. I know: easier said than done.

Yep... that is pretty much what I thought. I have the original DVD too. Believe it or not it actually looks worse! Too bad too, it is a good movie...

Wow, thanks! Yeah, I know that somebody screwed it up, but like I mentioned above, the original DVD which I have even looks worse. I don't suppose I can do much with it, but I figured you guys who are much more familiar with this stuff could at least give me some suggestions. I sure with there was actually a good source for this film.

Yeah, I'm sure you're right (an EXTREMELY rare occurrence, but once in a great while... :D) I do have the original DVD, which I believe is all there is, and like I've mentioned, it even looks worse. Oh well...

Oh, I forgot to ask you... So, I don't suppose I can just drop this code into the AVS window of BDRB, right? It's been quite a while since I've used Avisynth, how do I implement this code you have kindly given me above...? If I can't just drop it into BDRB, it's been so long that I'm afraid you are going to have to spell it out for me, if you don't mind, please. Thanks!

My code is not worth anything now, just for peeking.
I suggest that you might upload a sample of the DVD you have.
Rip it, go to VIDEO_TS. If VTS01 contains the main PGC:
just the first VTS_01_1.VOB via wetransfer.com (2GB are free and stay up for one week)

I don't know how to figure out the UPC code, I don't usually mess with DVDs only going to my collection if I want to compare the Blu-ray or see what extras are on it. But, here is the link on Amazon for the DVD. You'll notice that EVERYONE complains about how poor the DVD looks, and it does... There just simply may not be any decent source for this film.

Instead of uploading so much, I went ahead and used MakeMKV with my DVD and then took another 18 second snippet from it (very near I think to the supposed HD encoded snippet above) It doesn't seem to have quite the horrible combing in it, but it still does not look very good. Maybe I should simply start with the DVD and try some AVS from there to 'improve it'...?
