View Full Version : BD Rebuilder Beta - Bug Reports Only

Using BD ReBuilder v 34.11. Settings: Custom size 23,450, High Quality/2-pass. Ripped disc using AnyDVD HD.
In movie only mode, BD Rebuilder only finds 1 of the 3 episodes on the disc. So I re-encoded using full movie mode. When it got to the end of the process, BD Rebuilder did not rebuild the BD structure. Instead, I got 3 M2TS files of approx. 8Gb each. I used TsMuxer to join the files and give them BD structure. Burned using IMGburn, and the disc plays fine.
I wanted to report this because 2 problems are involved:
1- not finding all 3 episodes on the disc in movie only mode.
2- not rebuilding BD structure in full movie mode.
Something that may have caused this problem is that 2 of the episodes were in 1080P and 1 was in 1080i. I actually could only join the 2 1080P episodes using TsMuxer because of the different frame rate of the 1080i.
Any feedback on this issue would be appreciated. "Movie-Only" by definition only writes one feature to the disc.
As for the other issue... I'd need to see logs.

jdobbs... if a bluray contents already have 6ch ac3... how can I tell BD-RB not to reencode that and just keep that sound track untouched? I can use multiavchd to blank out the DTS so that way it doesn't get converted.

1. Don't use multiAVCHD to blank out the DTS, just deselect it in BD-RB -- in running the disc through multiAVCHD first you are "preprocessing" and I won't respond to bug reports because I wouldn't be able to determine if it is caused by BD-RB or multiAVCHD. "Blanking out" audio is a good way to cause issues, and frankly self-inflicted problems are not why I've created a bug thread.
2. You select "Do not reencode AC3" from the SETUP dialog.

To all:
multiAVCHD is a nice software program. I use it sometimes as well. But, as with all powerful editing programs, it gives you the ability to change many things pretty much at your discretion. That can result in lots and lots of potential issues.
Feel free to use multiAVCHD on a disc and then run BD-RB against the output, it gives you lots of capability. But, DO NOT POST ANY BUGS YOU MAY ENCOUNTER when you do that. Only report bugs that you experience against a commercial sources should be reported. It simply makes me spend time chasing bugs that cannot be fixed -- I've done this for many years, and have learned this lesson many times. I would also appreciate honesty in reporting. I have also chased bugs many times in which someone "neglected" to inform me (or more often chose to conceal) that a source is preprocessed.
If you can't follow this rule -- don't use the software. You are causing headaches for yourself and delaying beta developement of BD-RB.

You should write that in post #1 ...

jdobbs.. thank you for your respond but this is not considered a bug report when I made that post. I just want to simply ask how to let BD-RB keep the original AC3 so that it doesn't "waste" time to re-encode a AC3 that's already made. Also I didn't want to create another thread because like last time, someone said I was selfish or so to make a post just for myself because I didn't "read". Thanks again jdobbs!
BTW... I'm doing a BD9 encode that's why I ask you because that option to keep AC3 only is for bluray output only correct?

so that it doesn't "waste" time
You really aren't the sharpest knife in the drawer, are you? I thought I'd give you one more chance and answer one of your posts... no more.

jdobbs, I don't know why do you take it offensive when someone mention anything about time. Especially when they are clearly NOT complaining. I put it in quotation mark so that way you know that I don't mean anything offensive or complaining, but still you get worked up. I apologize for posting question in the bug reports only thread. Next time I will just continue from my own thread previously. Thanks again.

Hi there, I'm using the latest Beta v0.34.08 and I've been experiencing this problem with several certain disk backups since I started using BD-RB, most recently with Sherlock Holmes. It isn't a random occurance, some originals just work, others don't

I've read through some prior posts and the solutions to those, but I'm unfamiliar with any options concerning ABR or CRF (I have to admit I'm not certain what they stand for or where to find them), and I believe I have most other settings correct.
If any more information is needed, PM me, and I will provide it and update this post.
Thanks in advance!
EDIT:
I followed Capsbackup's advice below, I was unaware there was an update (I thought I had set up notifications for new versions, but I guess it doesn't work). Everything works now!

@ammauric;
the most current version is BD-RBV03411. There were some fixes regarding CRF encoding with this newer version.
September 19th, 2010 - v0.34.11
- Fixed a bug in which one-pass CRF encoding did not
work when the LAVF decoding option was selected.
I suggest you try this lates version to see if your issue is corrected.

Check the smaller m2ts files in the list for many audio tracks. Occasionally you find discs which on the extra tracks there are loads of english audios - they aren't used but use up space and do confuse the programme. I usually select 'only one audio track' in setup and then manually add commentary tracks etc in the main stream.

:thanks: I have another report of that disc (I believe its a European version) having 140 segments in a multi-part movie-only encode. My guess is that TSMUXER can't handle that many, but since I can't repeat it with the US version I'm not positive.

Yeah, it's European Version with Remove of Region Code.

I just wonder if the huge number of segments is a purposeful method of getting around TSMUXER's capability? I mean 140... that's almost a segment change every minute. I can't imagine angle changes or "director's cut" types of differences requiring that many pieces?

And I thought 51 pieces was a lot for the US Region 1 disk, lol. I tried the disk with Clown to put all of them into one big m2ts like I always used to do with multi m2ts movies and was surprised that after tsMuxeR combined them it also found tons of audio overlaps that caused a big audio delay of almost 20 seconds. I played with different ways to fix it and finally gave up and let BD_Rebuilder have a go at it. I was happy to see that it plays without any glitches at all. I even previewed the breaks where the m2ts files are joined and even in slow motion there is no hesitation, play back is extremely smooth and the audio transitions are fluid. Thanks jdobbs, the latest version really is a big improvment in the way it handles these movies that are chopped and stirred. Some of those m2ts files were like only 3 or 4 hundred frames long!, WHY??

When BD Rebuilder encounters sources that are huge like that, it also uses TSMUXER to combine them into a single M2TS first to prevent filename size errors (that's what the "to M2TS" and "from M2TS" in the log means:- Extracting A/V to M2TS [VID_00810]
- Extracting A/V from M2TS [VID_00810]
But I think 140 may even be too many for that method.

Mr Jdobbs
I need some help. I changed BR v34.07 for v34.10 and, I did not make the adjust in setup (subs). Now, when a put the movie, I choose the spanish subtitles but when the m ovie is running the subtitles are in french. How can I change this mistake with the same info or data, with BR? How can I change to be correct when I see the movie?

Hi!
Reagrding your post #9719 - I raised the same question (and the same speculation - Great minds think alike ;>} ) in a post in mid-August at:

Is anyone having problems with IronMan2 ?
My copy stops at the last VID with error message "Encode Failed Retrying."
"Reached retry limit aborting."

My DVD-Fab "movie only" rip of Iron Man 2, BR-RB'd to 18GB's plays flawlessly.
I'm no expert, so doubt I could be of much help, but I bet your gonna need to provide logs of the encode.

I just wonder if the huge number of segments is a purposeful method of getting around TSMUXER's capability? I mean 140... that's almost a segment change every minute. I can't imagine angle changes or "director's cut" types of differences requiring that many pieces?
'Prince of Persia' (European version) is another example: it is split into 139 x .m2ts files. Backup (movie only on BD-5) with BD RB went well, except for the selected subtitles which did not get extracted.

What should I make of this:
[19:09:45] BD Rebuilder v0.34.11 (beta)
- Source: SOLAR_SYSTEM_D1
- Input BD size: 39,03 GB
- Approximate total content: [02:56:10.000]
- Target BD size: 23,49 GB
- Windows Version: 6.1 [7600]
- MOVIE-ONLY mode enabled
- Quality: Highest (Very Slow), Two Pass
- X264 Tweak(s) enabled
- Audio Settings: AC3=0 DTS=0 HD=1 Kbs=640

- [19:09:47] Extracting A/V streams [VID_00140]
- Error in attempt to MKVMERGE.
[19:21:26] - Failed to retrieve audio, aborted
0.34.11 has been working very well for me so far. Perhaps this has something to do with the source being VC-1 and 1080i/25fps.
addendum: LAVF and "use DECOMB filter" were both disabled.

Jdobbs. Thank you for another wonderful software. When you start asking for donations, you got it! I bought/donated Dvd rebuilder too ;)
I backed up Independence Day with my Phenom 940 (3.5Ghz) from BD-50 to BD-25 in 2Hrs 15min keeping everything. So far, no artifacts or glitches.
I also have the Iron Man 2 files on my drive. I'll attempt that as well. Looks like others are having trouble with that badboy ;)

Backup (movie only on BD-5) with BD RB went well, except for the selected subtitles which did not get extracted. I guess it's the numerous languages involved in the European versions that makes so many segments necessary. Does any text (signs etc.) displayed on-screen show up in your player's default language?
Hmm... good information to know. It sounds like TSMUXER may not be limited in the number of parts it can process. Interesting. The subtitle issue may be because the first segment had none. I remember running into something similar before, I'll check that out.

Another 2hr 15 minute job complete. Iron Man 2 gave me no trouble.
Not a bug, but a request. Would it be possible in a future release to be more like DVD rebuilder? In that it has a Source, Working, and output path? It helps with transfer times greatly, as I'm sure you can imagine. And if a image is generated, yet another output path(Though this can be done manually). I guess I'm particular about simultaneous read write operations. I've also noticed that the Root C:\ or Cache is used in countless programs, including Dvd rebuilder. Not sure about BD rebuilder, but when multitasking this can be a bottleneck for other processes. E.g. ripping a disc, and rebuilding simultaneously. Sure is a shame that C has to be used soo much :( Perhaps when insane amounts of Ram is common place.... LOL!
Although I suppose SSD discs will help in this area...
If there is a thread dedicated to the ongoing efforts/opinions for Bd Rebuilder, I'll gladly subscribe to it. And apologize if this post was irritating.

There's a "feature request" thread.
Actually jdobbs i did post that a while ago in the feature request topic. see http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1423433#post1423433 I even explained why i would love this a few post below that one see http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1423688#post1423688
Some other user requested that too. You never responded to it though. I'd love to see that implemented.
Anyways back on topic

Anyways back on topic Unfortunately if I responded to every post in every thread on every request or bug report I'd never do anything but post responses and we'd never get any bugs fixed or features implemented. ;) I have a huge to-do list, most of which is feature requests, that I'm moving through slowly. Bugs have priority, though.
Ch3vr0n
4th October 2010, 15:30
Well a simple question then. Is that requested feature on the to-do list and how far up is it ? I fully understand that you can't reply to every request (nor pm) and that bugs take priority though ;)
jdobbs
4th October 2010, 16:11
So I guess you're asking now that even though I don't have time to respond to every feature request post, you'd like me to provide a status and estimated completion date for every feature request post? If I go down that street I'll never even have time for anything. So here's the answer to all such questions:
It's on the list if I think its a good idea. It'll be completed when I get around to it. :) No offense intended -- just facing reality.

When BD Rebuilder encounters sources that are huge like that, it also uses TSMUXER to combine them into a single M2TS first to prevent filename size errors (that's what the "to M2TS" and "from M2TS" in the log means: But I think 140 may even be too many for that method.
It seems that Disney prefers this method.
Now i have "The Game Plan" and also TSMuxer crashes.
Always extracting with German language and German subs.
(Prince of Persia also don't work w/o subtitles).

Did you try a full backup of Prince of Persia?
I was successful with movie only 720p on BD-5 (apart from missing subtitles). I had however to select the 'Other movie only playlist' - the one with the 21 (?) chapters IIRC. TSMuxeR survived the 139 segments....
