I cant find anything in my temp or bd-rebuilder install folder called .inf or with the extension of .inf.. am I having a blonde moment here guys.. The INI is in the BD Rebuilder folder. The INF is in the working folder. It's gotta' be there (unless it was deleted) -- BD Rebuilder won't work without it.

@micflair;
This is not present in your log above, as you stated it was earlier, which is why your backup keeps reencoding the menu files and anything below 600MB.
You need to make sure you put the wording in correctly and in the right place. Example:
Below [Options]
MIN_M2TS_SIZE=600
If you check BD-RB files to reencode from the list, the files less than this size will not be present.

So copy: MIN_M2TS_SIZE=600 just below the [Options] file and save it, then start BD-RB again. You should see less files to reencode in the BD-RB list.

I was just wondering if anyone else has run into this prob. I recently got a new Bluray player BDT350 and it plays most of my backup BD_RB disks just fine, but not all. It seems it does not like any of the disks that were created using BD_Rebuilder from about 6 months ago to over a year ago. They play on the BDT350 but don't have any video output, but they play just fine on my old DMP-BD35. There is really no rhyme or reason I can come up with that makes one disk play and the other one not unless there is something in the different versions of BD_RD that has changed. (I have the Startrek movies and none of the 1to6 older disks play but the Next Generation ones do and all were done around the same time.) I am doing a replacement encode now to see if I can use the new index structure to fix the disk and make it playable.

Use the defaults, they are set as "default" precisely because they are the best settings to use. :)

Thanks jdobbs !

I tried default settings, but changed a little bit...and it worked ( logs attached ). Burned to a BD-RE and played in my Samsung BD-3600 player.

Toy Story 3 movie has some frames which are specific for each language. So, every time these frames are shown, the image pauses ( not sound ) and is played again seconds later from exactly same point.

I remember some Disney DVD's where it happened too.

May be a BD-rebuilder bug ?

Just encoded "The expendables"(BD-25) yesterday. Longest encode thus far. 13+ hours at High quality (Default) with quick encode for extras. I have a feeling it's gonna be a while before we tame that down to under an hour average :S

Jdobbs, you said you have a quad, I'm curious how yours fairs? My Phenom 940 @3.5Ghz is my X264 slave :D How long did your backup of "The Expendables" take? I'm planning a new build in february. Wondering if it's really worth it...

@omegaman7

Hi!

I believe that the reason "The Expendables" takes so long to process is that it contains an ENTIRE second copy of the movie as the "BonusView", modified for PIP with commentary (Does not appear to use seamless branching), as well as extensive commentary and a good number of extras.

{My guess is, that when the producers realized how poor the actual movie is, they tried to add as many distractions as possible ;>})

??? That's probably something left over from early testing. But it certainly has no affect now. BD Rebuilder never reads the value.

I just want to start off by saying this is an awesome program.

I compressed Splice and English Patient (movie only, dvd-9, default settings) and the audio was out of sync with the video at the end of the compression process. There seems to be no rhyme or reason because other movies that were compressed with the same settings were perfect.

I recompressed Splice using the same settings and it turned out fine. I'm inthe process of re-compressing English Patient.

Both movies had DTS-HD soundtracks.

Any ideas as to why this sometimes happens?

Any ideas as to why this sometimes happens? It's never happened to me... but if you did it with a version prior to 36.3 it could be this:

- Corrected an error in which audio streams that
contained delays, and were not in the initial
(SETUP defined) list of selections, could (if
later selected from the streams list) be muxed
out-of-sync.

Not bad, actually, for a disc with 5 1/2 hours of content.

FYI: Regarding my Panasonic DMP-BDT350 (Quote: Bluray player BDT350 plays most of my backup BD_RB disks just fine, but not all.) Don't know if there is an easy fix for this but just in case anyone else has this problem, the difference between the unplayable disks and the newest disks processed by BD_Rebuilder are that they are High Profile 4.0 instead of High Profile 4.1 that was used earlier. I wonder when this was changed and why? I wonder why my older BD35 can play both and the BDT-350 plays it but with no video output. It is weird because you would think the BDT350 would like the higher bitrate allowed by the 4.1 profile, but I'm sure jdobbs must have had a good reason to go back to 4.0 from the older 4.1 profile. I wish there was an easy fix to make these older disks playable without recoding and burning all of them. At any rate thanks jdobbs for the great program, even if there are a few glitches here and there. It is a work in progress after all.

What are you playing the backups with, software player or standalone?

I used a Sony bdps-370 standalone.

I also used TotalMedia Theatre 3 on my htpc to playback the bdmv folder from my hard drive.

It's never happened to me... but if you did it with a version prior to 36.3 it could be this:

out-of-sync.

I used version 36.04 and it just finished compressing for a second time. I tried playing bak the bdmv folder on my htpc and the audio is out of synch. I went back to the original and the original is fine.

Not sure but I'll do a full backup to see if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the information.

At any rate thanks jdobbs for the great program, even if there are a few glitches here and there. It is a work in progress after all. It was changed to Level 4.0 on BD-5/9 specifically to provide greater compatibility on certain players. It's interesting that Panasonic would see issues. From the AVCHD Wiki:Panasonic AVCHD camcorders use AVC with High Profile @ Level 4.0 for all modes except 1080p50/1080p60, which are encoded with High Profile @ Level 4.2. Maximum data rate is limited to 24 Mbit/s for AVCCAM models, to 17 Mbit/s for most consumer models and to 28 Mbit/s for 1080p50/1080p60 recording modes. My guess is that they have built their players to specifically support their recorders... Panasonic has a history of going their own way. Remember DVD-RAM?

It's one of those "how you interpret it" things... according to spec AVCHD will support Level 4.1 up to 24Mbs or Level 4.0 up to 18Mbs. DVD media (as defined in this context) is limited to 18Mbs -- so some people read that as "DVD must be Level 4.0". On the other hand, some would say there should no reason you can't use Level 4.1 -- since you can limit the bitrate as you see fit without changing the level.

There's really no disadvantage to using Level 4.0 when outputting to DVD, so I changed the code to make it more compatible.

Thanks Jdobbs, and everyone concerned. I did realize that there is a great deal of video space on the disc(5+hrs). The BD-50 was after all 46+Gb. One of the largest I've dealt with.
Just over 7hrs eh? Hmmm, perhaps you removed things I did not. Most the time, it averages between 5 - 8 hrs. If 1090t can average 1.5hrs, Bulldozer WILL be justified. I guess I should wait and see though. I think they're figuring quarter one on Bulldozer release :D

I guess I could see how my 965 @ 3.9Ghz fairs by comparison. Could be an interesting experiment ;)

Well the expendables is still running and looks like it will be done shortly so about 6 hrs at High Quality(default) Settings. So it comes out a little longer than expected averaging 38fps 1st ..pass and 32 fps .... second pass.

I ussually use the Automatic quality settings and my 1.5 hr comparison was with the 1090T OC'd to 4200ghz where I was averaging 48fps 1st pass and 42 fps 2nd pass when needed. The last Airbender and Sorcerers Aprentice.

I am stock right now with all 6 core maxed which I couldn't do when OC'd @ 4200 (about 60 - 70%) and have not had time to get the bugs out of the system yet and Asus has left a few in the MB. I found when I upgraded from the 965 also OC'd to 3900 I gained about 10 - 15 fps all around depending on the source. the 1090T loves to be OC'd compared to the 965.

Thanks for the info. I generally don't like running long processes on my primary machine(Phenom 965). But perhaps in the not too distant future, I can retire 940(sell on ebay), and purchase 1090t. Really depends on Bulldozers cost, and how much money I can make over the next month. Hopefully I pick up some overtime ;)

When I select 'Alternate Output' and for example one of the MKV containers, I can activate both 'Constant Rate Factor Output (CRF)' AND 'Two Pass Bitrate Encoding'. I thought the 2 should be exclusive.

When I unselect 'Constant Rate Factor Output (CRF)' and select 'Two Pass Bitrate Encoding', I cannot edit the target bitrate, but only the CRF.

Is this a bug?

Is this a bug? It must be... I'll check it out. You obviously can run both at once.

[Edit] I just tested it, and I can't activate both... the checkbox can only be set on one or the other. You can never edit the bitrate (currently), it is set in the ALTERNATE.TXT file that holds all the profiles. You can always edit the CRF, but it is only applicable if you have CRF encoding selected.

Thanks jdobbs !

I tried default settings, but changed a little bit...and it worked ( logs attached ). Burned to a BD-RE and played in my Samsung BD-3600 player.

Toy Story 3 movie has some frames which are specific for each language. So, every time these frames are shown, the image freezes ( not sound ) and is played again seconds later from exactly same point.

I remember some Disney DVD's where it happened too.

May be a BD-rebuilder bug ?

Sorry jdobbs, any comments ? Has anyone been through this ???

Hi there, i have a problem with the movie "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood prince", I did a full backup but the weird thing is that BD-Rebuilder doesn't show any error, it just says thats everything went perfect, but when i reproduce the movie in my pc the spanish audio doesn't hear very well, it sounds paused and sometimes slow, so what might be the problem? some settings to change? thanks

the last post is for this problem

Has something changed since the 4th of November, page 502, and now, with the Inspect tool?

I don't think i've ever seen "FFDSHOW_RAW_AUDIO" listed in the Inspect tool, but it's not often I use BD-Rebuilder, and generally it gets removed when i'm done, and a new version is out when I need it again.

FFDSHOW_RAW_AUDIO is not mentioned in the Inspect tool here. Should it be?

Edit: I'm also hesistant to ask this next question, because it's probably been repeated many times. Why is "FFMPEG encoder" unselectable in "Encoder"? Is there any condition in which it is selectable?Ignore it. I've taken it out again.

the last post is for this problem 1. You're using an old version that is out of date. There have been four newer releases since then. I only accept bug reports on current versions.

2. Have you tried it on a standalone player? PC codecs and playback can be flakey...

3. It looks like the only language you have selected in SETUP is English.

It could be this (from v0.36.03):- Corrected an error in which audio streams that
contained delays, and were not in the initial
(SETUP defined) list of selections, could (if
later selected from the streams list) be muxed
out-of-sync.

or this if you stopped and started over (from v0.36.01):- Corrected an issue in which stopping BD-RB during
audio encoding would leave the WAVI and AFTEN
processes running. As a result, restarting soon
afterward could cause unpredictable anomalies in
the audio, including sync and size issues.

Thanks. The double activation was gone after rebooting the system. So something was probably out of order here.

Unfortunately, an encode with version 3604 still shows the problem. I tried it with some other BDs (e.g. Alice in Wonderland), and it worked well. So this seems to be a special problem of the CARS BD.
Besides, is there a way to downgrade to an earlier version of BD-Rebuilder for testing purposes? I tried but got a message that there is anewer version and I should use it.

I tested "CARS" over-and-over and it worked correctly. I've also gotten no other reports of this issue as you've described it from any other users... I'm not sure what else I can do.

Maybe you could tell me how to downgrade, so I can try some earlier version of BD_Rebuilder, and if it works then, maybe the logs could be helpful.

Sorry, but I have to continue to treat this as a beta program -- I make the old versions expire so I don't keep getting reports on things that have been fixed. I have to believe that the copy of "CARS" you have is corrupted -- because your report is the only one in which there is an issue. An old version isn't going to act any differently.

I was wondering what the recommended version of Haali splitter is as I downloaded the one linked to in the first post, but the inspect program keeps telling me it's not the recommended version

Ignore it. I've taken it out again.

And what about "FFMPEG Encoder". How is that used? Must you set ENCODER=1 and supply ffmpeg.exe? Is there any condition where the option is not greyed out?

I did a movie only to BD-25 and all the extras are mixed in with the movie. I'm going to try a full backup and see.

I was wondering what the recommended version of Haali splitter is as I downloaded the one linked to in the first post, but the inspect program keeps telling me it's not the recommended version Some HAALI versions fail to remove content from the "c:\program files\HAALI\MatroskaSplitter" folder, and it shows to BD-RB as the wrong version. You need to uninstall HAALI, then manually delete that folder and install the one from the first post of the Bug Reporting thread.

I was originally going to use multiple encoding options - but frankly nothing else even comes close to X264, so there's no point. FFMPEG would just use X264 code anyway.

Hey jdobbs!

Here's an FYI on how you're (mis?)calculating video size based on the available audio.

I did a BD-25 compilation of season 1 of my "Elvis Costello Spectacle" set. The original is 3 discs, with four 50 minute shows per disc. The shows have both DTS-HD MA & LPCM 2.0 audio tracks & 1080i vid.

To do the comp, I use multiAVCHD to add the individual titles "full size", build a menu & output a new "BluRay". Then I run that thru BD-RB to get it "to size". In my comp, I did 3 shows off disc 1, plus the four each off discs 2 & 3 for 11 total & I'm keeping only the DTS MA track.

For some reason, mAVCHD would not let me deselect the LPCM on the 3 shows from disc 1, so I built the comp that way, eps 1-3 with both audio tracks, eps 4-11 with only MA.

I load this new 50+GB "package" in BD-RB & deselect LPCM for eps 1-3 in the streams tab & start the rebuild. With that scenario, basically 11 identical titles, I should get nearly identical video bitrates for each, correct? But I DON'T! Titles 1-3 get around 4100ką & titles 4-11 get around 3100ką. I let it finish, do a test burn & it looks good & I can't really tell the diff between 4100k & 3100k visually, but since I have a 1090 Hex CPU that pounds these out, I decide to redo it.

I set my output target to exceed the project, deselect LPCM from the first 3 eps & let BD-RB remux it, stripping out the LPCM. Now I have the same project, minus LPCM & I start the rebuild. This time, I get all titles with similar bitrates of 3400ką. The question is, why didn't I get the 3400k rates on the first run?

BTW, that's 9+ HOURS of content, with the hi-rez sound, crammed on a 25 & it looks GREAT! I did it 2 pass at highest quality & it took 25 hours. Keep in mind that it was 1080i, so I think you take a speed hit on the 29.97fps vs 1080p/23.976fps.

I'm not sure I'm getting it. So what changed between the first and second run? Only the target size? What size did you use?

I'm not sure about "miscalculating" -- my encodes always come out at the size I expect.

The reason they may be different bitrates is because the bitrate is based upon the original bitrate... you'll probably find that the first three files have higher bitrates on the original as well. But I'll look at it and see if I can find anything. But any inaccuracies I've ever found all relate to inconsistent muxing (I have to estimate how big the output will be after muxing -- and the muxing isn't very consistent).

[Edit] I just remembered, the target size for an M2TS is based on the original size and then adjusted for reduction to fit on the target. So if the original was larger (because of the LPCM included), it's output allocation would be larger too... resulting in larger bitrate (because the LPCM is being removed).

There you go! That's the discrepancy. Run #1 had LPCM still in the 3 eps, run #2, the LPCM was stripped out.

Logically, if you ran the downsize calc after demux, I think you'd have much better "solution". The way it is now, the main M2TS with a lot of hi-rez sound is getting "over-downsized", while a big extra with say only one DD2.0 track is getting "under-downsized".

I've seen main titles with two DTS-HD MA plus all the other language tracks. I've also seen a couple of concerts with True HD and DTS-HD MA on the main title.

I'm not hip to writing code, so maybe it's not possible to pick up those numbers after demux???

See ya!

See ya! The problem is that in order for that to work you'd have to demux everything before starting -- adding a lot more time and disc requirements.

What you're saying isn't accurate. The space is allocated based upon the original disc's priorities. If a 2.0 track was used, sure, the size would be smaller -- but the allocation would be equal to the video of the original. The only time it would matter is if you have two sources that are of equal weight in which one had LPCM and another didn't, and you were removing it on one but not the other (because it was missing) -- that just doesn't happen unless the source is preprocessed (as is true in your case).

I've seen main titles with two DTS-HD MA plus all the other language tracks. I've also seen a couple of concerts with True HD and DTS-HD MA on the main title. I don't think I get the point. In this example the feature wouldn't suffer from all the languages... in fact if you didn't keep them all, it would get an improved bitrate because it also gets the bits from the removed languages. Either way, if it took up 60% of the available space on the original, it would also take up 60% of the available space on the target.
