Both working m2ts + clpi and mpls files were replaced in the original folder. So I don't compare apples and oranges. Maybe I didn't explained myself corectly. I also re-authored a seamless branched disc ( theatrical and extended version ) for tests purposes only and kept both versions including original structure and after that I ran it through BD-RB to make it BD5 and worked like a charm ( menus, extras, playthrough ). That's why I am almost certain that those ATC entries are not the real issue. BUT, MAYBE, for some players ATC entries do matter. I can't test every player from Earth.
In other order, you are doing a fine job with BD-RB, I'm a fan of DVD Rebuilder since it was released and I have it with license. Now I'm a fan of BD-RB too.

Or even better, buy a real player like the Sony BDP-S360 (about $100) instead of a game that pretends to be a player.
Sorry. I have nothing against the PS3 -- but it obviously is not a BD player.
OK I have heard you : I have just ordered a Sony BDP-S360 ... It will allow me, at least, to raise doubts in case of problems ... :rolleyes:

Sometimes I think mine would playback a piece of toast if I put it in the tray... :) The startup will probably be a little slower than a PS3, but it's a huge improvement over earlier BD Players.

Hey Jdobbs what about the Sony BDP-S460 would it play BD5/BD9 full backups. I have an eye on it in the web for only $149. Or any one have this player and are succesfull with full BD5/BD9 backups. thanks.

I I've been told, though, that the BDP-370 and BX-37 has different firmware and won't play full backups on BD-5/9.

Hi,
Lots of thanks jdobbs for this really nice program working perfectly without any problems for me.
Just one (maybe silly) question… Why while most of the commercial Blu-rays have a RefFrame of 4 images do BD-Rebuilder only use 3 images? It seems (if I’m not wrong) that 3 is the default value in x264, but why if from what I’ve seen in commercial Blu-rays the “default” value is 4?
This question comes from a newbie without any technical knowledge of what under video compression algorithms, so maybe going from 3 to 4 RefFrames will increase a lot encoding time and the image quality gained isn’t worth it…
Greetings
EDIT: As it seems jdobbs still hasn't read this post, I'll add that selecting Highest (Very Slow) setting doesn't change ref to 5 (as it should do?) and that adding this two lines to bdrebuilder.ini doesn't work either:
TWEAK_PASS_ONE=--ref 5
TWEAK_PASS_TWO=--ref 5

Doing a backup of "Tropic Thunder" right now. Just saw something that makes no sense to me. VID_00009 was 1920X1080 @ 29.97 (6,397 frames). I'm resizing everything to 1280X720. The new VID_00009 is 1280X720 @ 59.940 (12,794 frames).
The idea with resizing is to maximize the quality/ bits per pixel. But doubling the framerate/number of frames defeats that purpose.
Any idea why that happened?
mpiper : Because your source is interlaced and 720i doesn't exist.

OK. Well that sucks, because it killed the bitrate.
Oh, well, I'll see what it looks like when it's done.
mpiper : Luckily, only the bitrate has been killed! :scared:

You won't regret it. Sometimes I think mine would playback a piece of toast if I put it in the tray... :) The startup will probably be a little slower than a PS3, but it's a huge improvement over earlier BD Players.
I have an BDPS350 wich is fast that many samungs BD older release. My friend has (BDP1200 and BDP1400) and we have time to start the cofee, prepare it and back to play the movie.
Sony their good... good player, fast and easy to use.
Another of my friend purchass the new model samsung bluray with streaming play mkv, videos, musics from the pc to the tv.
I have also an Xtreamer HD media box witch i love it! it play ISO bluray, and ALL FORMATS. ALL OF THEM ! They update firmware for further technology. I like it!

I just did the disc you reported (Disc 7) with no issues...
I still say it was either a bad rip or the file has been corrupted, especially since it works on my end. I'd suggest you rerip.
I just reripped all three discs and ended up with worse results than before. They always failed ~10% of the way through, now it is almost immediately.

@DGenerateKane and 8ternity ........
I had the same issue with my copy of dances with wolves I also have tons of free space on my drive. Funny the movie finished fine when I just did the movie Only instead of the full disk backup. I meant for it to be just a test but forgot there was a blank disk in my burner. I was surprised when I got up in the am and it finished. You can see my post back on page 403 post #8044

Well I tried it again and it is still going at 19%. The only thing I changed was instead of Batch Mode I just tried one by itself. Is Batch Mode broken?
Mmh don't know but there is some strange behaviors in some configurations during files rebuilding process. This is the case for me when I work in network, BDR freezes endlessly while trying to transfer files, and I don't know why!
hi jdobbs, what it's mean ' target too small ' ? i set to BD9, and my hardisk is still have a lot of space

Monsters vs. Aliens problem.
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere (unable to find in search). Back up of Monsters vs. Aliens, when attempting to play on my Panasonic BD60, movie attempts to start, freezes, then returns to menu screen. Unable to choose individual scenes, also. However, top menu "extras" plays normally. Is it something I'm doing incorrectly in options on BD Rebuilder (never deviate from default settings)? Using latest version of "Rebuilder" as well as latest version of SlySoft. Have made 2 attempts with same results. Backing up onto 25G Optical Quantum media. Have backed up over 100 Blu-rays so far with these occasional hic cups (see posts elsewhere from me). End result usually is backups work onto full 50G media.
Any help on this particular movie much appreciated.

Just want to support 8ternity, DGenerateKane and bassnut, I also have the same issue and interestingly enough part of the BDRebuilder filename is the same as 8ternity's log but for a different film...
Film is Bourne Ultimatum, re ripped several times, same issue. 100+ other films all worked fine on same system setup. Workfiles hard disk always cleaned after rebuild has been completed.
EDIT : Don't know if this helps your investigation JDobbs, but this was the last film in a batch mode each time I tried it. I will try it on it's own. It was also a full disk backup.
EDIT : Can confirm when processed as a single film it worked fine. Must be an issue with batch backup.

You could try it again with the same settings only not in batch mode, see if that makes a difference.
Depending on those results, you could try it with PROCESS_SECONDARY=0 set in the ini file, since I believe the secondary audio for this movie is DTS Express, and it will not be available for the secondary video track anyway.
The complete "Inspect" log may also help determine the issue.

Thanks, I added PROCESS_SECONDARY=0 to the ini and it X'd out the secondary video which was at 480p, probably what caused the error. It's encoding and so far so good. Where can I find a list of ini commands for future reference?

I've got a problem with Star Trek Season 2 Disc 6. About 29 minutes into the third episode on the disc and the audio switched to Spanish. I switched between the audio tracks and also found a french track, but up until this point the only track was english. I double checked my BD-RE settings and can confirm I have it set to only keep english. Is there a way to fix this?
I also have a question, do you use any of the settings in AnyDVD such as remove user prohibited operations or remove annoying adverts and trailers? I'm tempted to try them but I don't want to find out later it caused problems.

Ok the issue of error....
"Cannot open file

in batch mode is occuring on about 50% of the backups I am doing now.
When the same rip is processed as a single backup, it works fine.
Batch backup mode is definately experiencing issues.

Hey Jdobbs,
First time i'm having a rather strange issue. I had BDRB do its magic on Batman begins: first im i had it accidentaly rescale down to 720p and the subs wouldnt work. So i redo the job. Now, it finished without a problem however and here comes the strange part. My player the Panasonic DMP-BD60 wouldnt accept it, or rather accept it only partially.
The java would start and finish loading and when it gets to the part where it should start playing the movie, the screen stays black, however i CAN pull up the pop-up menu.
In PowerDVD the ISO as the burnt disc play fine, in TMT3 the disc loads fine but it plays the sound from the Pip stream (if i select the pipstream while playing, it doesnt have audio) and VERY jittery both the backup & the original. The original also plays fine in PDVD 10 as does the backup.
The Disc is VC-1 based, however my backup of The Dark Knight is also VC-1 based and that one starts up just fine in the player.
Below the logfile for the begins recode. Inspect settings are fine.

I don't have any clue what might be the cause. Maybe you do ?
Ch3vr0n :Mine play well on TMT3. However I didn't upscale SD to HD and I didn't keep HD audio. Check if you didn't blank any wanted audio tracks, if it's ok, you should retry in changing these 2 settings.

doubt it's the upscale of SD, as the dark night also has SD content, same codec & that one plays fine on the stand alone. I always keep HD audio as i only backup to BD25's.

Check the zip file of BD-RB, you will find it there. ( HIDDENOPTS ) :)
Thanks :)

Hi,
Backup to BD-9 of 'The Box' (UK version) has just finished. This disc is unusual in that it has both DTS-MA and TrueHD tracks. I selected the TrueHD track and BD-RB correctly demuxed the 640kbps AC3 core. However I was quite surprised to find that at the end of encoding BD-RB then re-encoded the AC3 track. Is this normal? Why would it need to do this?
Hi SoniG - yes 'do not re-encode AC3' is checked, and 'Use 448kbps' is unchecked. The demuxed core is 640kbps, and it re-encoded again to 640kbps (and came out a few bytes bigger).
Hi, I have the same "problem": when I do a BD5/BD9 backup, the audio track is always reencoded, even if in the blu-ray it's already an AC3 640kbps track.
Greetings
Ch3vr0n : Wrong, The Dark Knight is all in HD except for the PiP content that is not concerned by this setting. Batman Begins is an older release with most of his bonuses coming from the DVD release. Transforming an old 29,97fps SD content to 59.94fps 720p is not a neutral process. It can give good result, and it can fail! Beyond that, you shouldn't compare 2 different releases, even if it's the same bat guy who plays on it! About the Audio, you should try, to see if it comes from the HD track.

Hi chompy,
As suggested by SoniG I added ''AUDIO_AMPLIFY=1' to the .ini file and it now correctly skips re-encoding.
That's what I was about to reply! :)

@JohnnyB.Good
As you are probably aware, you don't have something set up properly to get this error, or another codec pack has priority over ffdshow.
You should try to uninstall ffdshow, haali and avisynth. Make sure you also delete the Haali folder found in C:\Program Files\. Uninstall any other codec packs too. Reboot.
Reinstall the ones from where you download BD-RB.
Run ffdshow video decoder and encoder and set per jdobbs recommendation.
