View Full Version : BD Rebuilder Beta - Bug Reports Only

I'm pretty sure the problem is in the subtitle (PGS) itself. The error within BD Rebuilder is the way it handled the problematic subtitle. If you de-select the japanese subtitle the problem should go away.It worked.

Oops, my bad. The file it was looking for isn't there. One with the same name, minus a .1 in the name, is there. I think it's the embedded secondary video, so it doesn't get blanked. It just looks a lot like the other feature video of the same time length. I kept the workfiles from the failed encode and I'm watching as it tries again to see if the same files all show up.
If this one fails as well I will try a movie only backup. Or whatever you want for a next step. :)
EDIT: I tried a Movie Only backup with 40.11 and it works. So my guess would be that something related to that Secondary Video stream is behaving differently in .11 than it was in .10. (Also, is there any way to blank secondary streams? The only way I can seem to get it blanked is with the Movie Only option, but that loses the menus too, right?)
Edit 2: I tried a Full Backup, changed the setting back to a target size of BD-25 and the encoding to Highest (just to shake things up a bit) and it still fails. The only way I can complete a backup of the Matrix with 40.11 is if I do a Movie Only backup. So far all of these attempts have been with multiple processors active. I will start another backup without the multi support and see what that does. Ok. I enabled MULTIPROCESS and was able to repeat the issue. Looks like when I removed it from secondaries I somehow didn't follow through correctly in some way. I'll get it fixed and kick out an interim release.

I recently tested "American Graffiti" for DTS Express performance
I've sorta lost track of the whole "DTS Express and PIP" issue progress, and wonder if this disc can now be successfully backed-up with all U-control features intact? Secret handshake and/or INI settings needed?

Hi,
I also have encountered with The Matrix encoding in full movie backup in BD25.
The result while it has the PiP movie with audio OK it has a noticeable lip sync in the main audio. Doing a movie only backup the result is just fine.
Do you have any idea what might cause it, as you say the backup is working fine with you.
The encoding was with 40.10 (but had the same problems with the Matrix movies with older version) and I removed the DTS MA track (kept only DD 5.1).

Hi!
50Gb backup of "American Graffiti" handles UControl/PIP/DTS Express, etc. flawlessly on SONY BDP S360 standalone player...

Testing completed with "The Matrix" and "The Incredibles" with MULTIPROCESS disabled for both. That did it for Full Backup. I'm going to try Edited but I have a good feeling about it so... I've not noticed any sync challenges with my testing.

No. MULTIPROCESS isn't normally set -- and can only be enabled by a hidden setting.
You need to follow (exactly) the setup instructions in the first post of this thread.
Also, how are you testing? You need to test in a standalone player -- as different computers and software players can often create issues of their own (including sync issues). BD-RB will always process exactly the same with the same settings -- if you're getting sync issues and others (like me) are not, it points to a system or configuration issue.

I am curious as to why, if I load the same Blu-ray into two seperate instances of BD-RB as a full backup, setting one to BD-25 and the other to BD5, there are less available playlists/VID_***** shown and available to blank (warnings an extras, etc...) for the BD5 than the BD25.
I would think the BD5 would need to reencode all VID_***** files to make it AVCHD compatible, thus show all titles. But it is the opposite, the BD-25 shows all titles, including the warnings which I want to blank. When I select BD5 as my output, several titles disappear from BD-RB stream list/view. :(

Are you sure? I've never seen that. A BD-5 has to reencode everything (because of lower MAX_BITRATE values), except for minor exeptions... while a BD-25 doesn't. So that would seem to be backwards. Can you provide me with an example disc where that happens?

Yes I am sure. Just testing Mirror Mirror now.
First with BD25, 14 titles are displayed. If I switch output to BD5, only 9 titles are displayed.

I just tested "Mirror Mirror". I see 9 titles in the list for BD-25 and only 4 are displayed for BD-5 -- which is how is should work.
So I'm confused. Are you using any special settings?
[Edit]
Ok, I set MIN_M2TS_SIZE=0 and now it is acting as you've indicated. I'll have to review the code and see what's up.
[Edit again]
I see now. On BD-5/9 I have a minimum size set to 10MB that isn't variable. But the minimum for BD-25 can be changed (e.g. set to zero) via hidden option. I'll have to do some looking -- I'm pretty sure I used that number in BD-5/9 because it wasn't really necessary to go any smaller and still stay compliant. I'm guessing it's because the size of the VBV buffer made it unnecessary, but I'll have to go back and check my notes. If so I should probably do the same as a minimum for BD-25...
Either way, one or the other will change.

I have had Blu-rays that I have been unable to blank warnings before when backing up to BD5/9 since they do not show up for blanking. They are usually very small files, less than 1 MB. This would explain why. :(
I prefer to blank any and all of these small files that make up the various warnings, adverts, etc... with BD-RB. However, for the ones that I was not able to because they are not listed, I end up using multiAVCHD. It would be a bonus to eliminate that extra step and only use BD-RB! :D

Does this mean Custom Size targets will also respond to MIN_M2TS_SIZE values < 10?

Probably another program update has changed your ffdshow settings or has taken priority, even though "Inspect" says Ok.
Uninstall ffdshow, haali and avisynth. Reboot. Install those programs again.
All should be well again.

Believe it or not I reinstalled my whole operating system thinking that, and then just installed BD Rebuilder step by step with the directions at the top of this thread, even installed the software directly downloaded from the links on the thread. Basically all that is isntalled is BD Rebuilder so that cannot be the issue. I even right clicked and started the app from admin and let BD setup correctly, So I am completely lost now...

Are you overclocked in any way? Are you using any hidden options in BD, such as the multi-process feature, or is it totally default? What is your source, disc, image, etc.?
Don't know if any of those will make a difference, but it's worth asking. :)

It seems to be happening on any disk and everything is stock factory settings, no overclocking and i'm using Movie only mode DVD5 setting. As far as hidden settings I never even go to that section and change anything I leave it as it is when I install it.

I've updated the first post of this thread with a link to the latest release of BD-RB (v0.41.01). Changes for this release:- Fixed a fatal error that can occur when MULTIPROCESS
is used in conjunction with sources that include
secondary streams.
- Corrected an issue in which very small segments of
a multi-part source could unnecessarily prompt with
annoying "oversize" warnings.
- Added chapter support for MP4 ALTERNATE output. It
is enabled by default. To disable MP4 chapters, set
add the new hidden option MP4_CHAPTERS=0.
- Added some additional features to the ALTERNATE
output and type definition modules.
- Modified processing of MIN_M2TS_SIZE (hidden value)
so that it also affects BD-5/9 (as long as it is
smaller than the BD-5/9 default).
- Corrected issues in which some important values were
not being maintained when saving and loading from a
project file (File Menu).
- Added the MPLS (playlist) number to the title section
of the stream list when MOVIE-ONLY mode is selected.
This is to avoid confusion as to which playlist is
active at any point in time. The playlist number
is also now displayed as a part of the batch list.
- Corrected a problem in which, under certain unusual
conditions on a 7.1 source -- the wrong channels
might be used for the rear speakers when converting
to AC3.

Hi. When I have BD-RB reencoded with Full Backup and Quicker encode for Extras it plays fine with PowerDVD 12 and my LG Player. When reencoded with Movie and Menus (Auto blank extras) but uncheck blank for extras I want kept and Quicker encode on, the log shows everything went well but PowerDVD 12 seems to get stuck (in a loop?) and doesn't shows anything from the hard drive location after it flashes the "Touchstone" logo, however my LG player will play.
Something to consider.

Unfortunately "Movie and Menus" is still experimental -- at best it is a "good guess" right now. If there's JAVA in play it could be even more hit-or-miss.

I can confirm that, its very often it selects streams that shouldn't be. Just this last disc i did (wrath of the titans), there's a simple picture in the background with audio running and then the menu that pops up. BDRB had selected it for blanking. When i launched the output iso i found a big black square above the menu where the picture was supposed to be, so i was forced to do a rerun (running that one atm). For once where i didn't preview every auto-selected stream, "it" does that. That goes to show it can never hurt to preview al streams. However it does what it's supposed to do on the other part, blank out all the trailer & notices crap nobody wants to watch anyway and retain full disc playability and that's what i'm after. If i have to "waste" half an hour previewing streams to get the disc to the state i want it in, so be it. It's more then worth it.
@Amiga: i think i've had that problem a couple times myself too, i usually end up doing a standard full disc backup in those cases if. With AnyDVD having stripped the UOP's (clips ya normally can't skip otherwise etc), ya can simply skip em and head straight for the menu/movie. Nothing i can't live with.

JDobbs, that's why I typed "Something to consider." This is bug reporting so experimental is part of that, I get that. ~Grin~
I see there's a JAR directory; now. I did notice with the warning being part of Auto Blanking, the final didn't function. Hmm.. Perhaps a clue? I don't yet get the structure of Blu-ray disks like I do mostly for DVD. So..enjoying learning.
Ch3vr0n, I've noticed it before, too. First time I've typed about it.
I know that time doesn't actually exist (not what this thread is about so, that's as far as I go here) so I don't get "concerned" with "Waste" or "Lack" of time. I may check an older/new version of AnyDVD for possible causes. The feeling I get concurs with JDobbs about Java...an area I'm still learning with Blu-ray. :D

Full Backup of Harry Potter Philosopher ULTIMATE EDITION works (incl. PIP)
but
- you cannot activate the secondary audio stream (the last)
AUD_015 (2nd) DTS-Express, Stereo, English
Whatever language you select, the stream will not be activated. The red cross remains on selection window.
Full Backup then will play the main audio stream.
- you cannot deactivate the secondary video
VC-1, 480p, 23.976fps
Tested with 0.40.10 and 0.41.01
--------
Ok, I see: Problem is the DTS Express Codec in secondary stream...

Hmm... but I've always heard that time is money... and money exists. And while money can't buy happiness, lack of money can certainly make you miserable. So, in a way, time can buy you happiness.

Ok, I see: Problem is the DTS Express Codec in secondary stream... I've really spent a lot of time trying to figure out what it is that some players don't like about the way I'm remuxing DTS-Express.

Also, at least with some, maybe most, standalone players you need to set the players audio setup to "mixed" (Sony's) to even be able to play and hear the secondary audio for the PiP option. :(

BD-J: Cool. I've noticed the same [was] happening with multiAVCHD though I haven't checked the newest incarnation. I didn't attribute it to Java...hmm..
Our lives are about abundance yet what Has been taught/passed for generations/tradition (after about ages 5-7) most parents start teaching away from it...from Their parents lessons. That's a very flawed way of viewing Reality and it keeps abundance (Well-Being) from coming in (Much more depth there..then I'll share here). I've switched from Things Make Me Happy to Happy Before I get stuff and focus on appreciation of what I have and am creating (MUST remain Focused)...with great appreciation for contrast. 0 regrets/excuses, and a massive love of Life. The Secret (1st edition, best one) was my catalyst of major change; away from The Matrix (the Trilogy is about it, but missing some info..), I became very aware of some of my sloppy creations. Very skeptical...but I kept with it (Nudges). Woah..extremely cool!! Check into Abraham-Hicks (Ask, and It Is Given; The Vortex..) for further info if you like. My recent donation is part of those changes. :D You replied, so..respectfully, so did I. :D Anything more should probably be in a PM.

First of, thank you for this great app! I have used several video encoding app, but so far, yours tops them all in term of simplicity and performance!
About the bug, it seems like fixed_crf paramter is not applied correctly. From what I understand, the smaller the fixed_crf value, the bigger the size of the movie. But no matter what fixed_crf values i set, the sizes of the reencoded movies are the same. Other settings are: Custom Target Size (####), High Quality, One Pass (CRF) encoding. I also notice that the size of the movie only goes down, when I set the Custom Target Size to a really small value (1000). Increasing Custom Target Size has no effect on the size.
I first noticed this in v.40.xx, but it could have happened even before that.

I first noticed this in v.40.xx, but it could have happened even before that. I've been using is quite a bit in testing lately -- it's working for me. The way to check is to look at LASTCMD.TXT (in the BD-RB folder) while the encode is executing. If it is working right you'll see "-crf xx" in the command line (xx will equal the fixed value you've used). Something to note: BD-RB does not accept a value less than 10, and will disable fixed_crf with any specified value that is smaller -- so it may be possible that's your issue. Generally a value of 18-20 will give you a result that is identical to the original, so anything less than 10 would be a waste anyway.

Did something more radical change with the latest version 4101? Everytime I start off with BD Rebuilder, it locks and closes. I updated this version as I always do, but something seems to be different... Any thoughts or other reports?
