I've just updated the first post of this thread with a link to the newest beta release of BD-RB (v0.33.07). Changes for this release:- Modified the AVS format so that AssumeFramerate() is
always used. This is meant to prevent mistaken or
miscalculated rates during the reencoding process and
also avoids possible rounding errors.
- Changed settings on the iPad ALTERNATE settings to take
advantage of CABAC and B-FRAMES.
- Corrected an "ExtractAudioSubs() 00053 1605" error that
could occur in movie-only mode for features that consist
of a large number of combined M2TS files.
- Corrected an issue in which frames could be lost and a
"stutter" could be seen between segments of a seamlessly
branched film when doing a full backup.
- Added a hidden option "SHUTDOWN_SLEEP=1" which will make
the "Shutdown after Rebuild" option on the FILE menu to
"Sleep after Rebuild" instead.
- Updated the included version of X264.EXE to the
latest release (r1583).
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes. Sorry for the delay between releases. I managed to fit a short holiday in there... :)
Your kidding right lol, we're very fortunate for each release thx for your hard work:)

@tekmobile
I did do some work in that area on the latest version. Let me know if you still get the error.

It was probably originally encode at a 96Khz sample rate -- I've put a fix in for the next release that will downsample those to 48Khz.
Does the new update include this fix?

Does the new update include this fix?Actually that was fixed in v0.33.06:- Updated the audio AVS so that sample rates and sample
sizes that are not compatible with AFTEN AC3 output are
converted before being sent to the encoder. This fixes
some issues that cause audio encoding failures.

You deserve it. Just wondering if you could give me your $.02 on the issue I was having with Gran Torino going out of sync toward the end of the movie. I posted it previously, and I'll post it again if you don't wish to find it yourself. Testing it with this beta you posted, and hoping it fixes the issue. Also testing Sin City with this, as it looks like it directly addresses the issue I was having. Thanks, bud.

Sorry guys to post this when i'm sure someone may have asked before but i need help. Been a user of Bdrebuilder for about 6 months now. Great program, Jdobbs, much appreciated. But for some reason i cannot get the subs for the foreign language scenes in the Iron man bluray to work correctly. I either get everything in subs or nothing no matter which english i select. I use "all languages" under settings then changed it to english, Still nothing. I did a search and thats the only thing i found for this type of issue so far in the threads. I even did another try today when i got the new build, nothing. Any advice?

No sooner than I mentioned that I used AviSynth 2.5.8 (in Afterdawn forum) and now it seems as though the latest release of BD-RB supports it! It wasn't mentioned in the changelog - so I am posting the Inspect.exe app's readout from my rig:
- Windows Version: 6.1 [7600]
- AVISYNTH Version: 2.5.8.0, Ok
- HAALI Splitter: Ok
- FFDSHOW: 3439, not recommended version I have since reverted to 3326 (cslid)
- WIN7 preferred AVC CODEC: Ok
- WIN7 preferred VC-1 CODEC: Ok
- WIN7 preferred MPEG2 CODEC: Ok
- FFDSHOW VC-1 set to "wmv9", Ok
- FFDSHOW MPEG2 set to "libavcodec": Ok
- FFDSHOW AVC set to "ffmpeg-mt": Ok
- BD Rebuilder v0.33.0.7, Ok
- X264: Ok
- AFTEN: Ok
- FAAC: Ok
- MP4BOX: Ok
- WAVI: Ok
- TSMUXER: Ok
I know my FFDShow is off :)
I have an intersting experience with installing CoreAVC's codec on my rig - ended up causing trouble with Haali Splitter - that wasn't corrected by uninstalling the CoreAVC codec and reinstalling the correct Matroska splitter - had to delete the Haali folder in Program Files and then reinstall Matroska again.
When I tried to Preview stream in BD-RB window by right clicking on a stream - media player states that CoreAVC couldn't be found - this led me to try installing the codec. Is there a way to correct this? The stream will play after closing the info window...
Also, when right clivking a stream - there is a greyed out 'Blank this stream' option - is this for the future?
Another question: under encoder options - encoder - greyed out is FFmpeg encoder - I tried installing this encoder - but BD-RB doesn't recognize it - is this also something for the future?
Cheers...
Thank you J. Dobbs for your work, and to all those who help - thank you too and for everyone who drinks BD-RB - to your health and burning!!
I just donated a token amount to Mr. Dobbs - everyone should give up a small contribution - J.Dobbs really could be charging for this app by now - let's help him with his efforts...

Too late lol just set it off and went to bed but same error.
Thanks for the update.
Another thing I noticed (could be just me reading it wrong)
MOVIE-ONLY/ALTERNATE OUTPUT mode enabled
- Auto Quality: High Quality (Default), Two Pass
Makes if sound like it should be doing a 2 pass encode but noticed it only did a single pass

I just donated a token amount to Mr. Dobbs - everyone should give up a small contribution - J.Dobbs really could be charging for this app by now - let's help him with his efforts... I still recommend AVISYNTH 2.5.7, but there haven't been any reports of issues with v2.5.8 that I could conclusively point at AVISYNTH so I decided to list it at "Ok". I think it may have gotten some of the blame for HAALI versions that didn't work and got corrected with a "complete reinstall of support components".
As for CoreAVC -- I can only say that I bought it, and ended up reverting to FFDSHOW because it had issues with playback of some sources. So if you decide to use it, always remove it and try FFDSHOW before posting a bug.
Yes, "Blank this stream" is planned for future implementation. Probably not for FFMPEG, although at one point I added that as a placeholder. Frankly X264 works so well that other choices (like I had in BD Rebuilder) seem senseless now.

Thanks. I have a job going right now that has a huge number of M2TS parts so I can test it too.
Just wondering if it's possible that getting BD_Rebuilder to first combine all the .m2ts parts and then have it encode as one big .m2ts would maybe fix a lot of problems with the studdering and out of sync situations? It it's feasible it would seem better to have the computer just churning along encoding instead of starting and stoping for every little piece.
thanks :thanks:Jdobbs for the great program, I have just about worn out a couple of computers using it already, Worknstiff

thanks :thanks:Jdobbs for the great program, I have just about worn out a couple of computers using it already, Worknstiff That's just not feasible. If you did that you couldn't reproduce a true backup of the original.
I have to completely disagree with " "a lot of problems with studdering and out-of-sync" -- I think that almost all of those reports were cause by people who disregarded my advice and used helper programs that aren't recommended. I've done many hundreds of discs and have never seen stuttering or out-of-sync. The only exception I would make is the recent report by SoniG -- which I'm working right now.

What did I do wrong?

I also have out of sync issues with Gran Torino, and since you initially helped me correct the configuration error I had, it's been smooth sailing on every disc. Assuming the issue with Sin City was corrected with this latest patch (it's still working on it as we speak) I don't have any other issues than Gran Torino. I'm also trying that with the .07 build to see if that was corrected. I just wanted to chime in and say that I was a person who has a perfect config, yet have (maybe had after .07) sync issues.

Gran Torino out of sync issue at Chapter 18. The backup of the original Blu-Ray doesn't exhibit this issue. It goes to a sky-blue screen, before the chapter starts, throwing the audio out of sync.
This is a movie-only backup, BD5, using highest quality settings.

Pete, I believe that the problem is actually in your rip of Gran Torino. I had the same issue with I Am Legend. I could see that during the exact timing of my audio lag, there was a minor flicker during a frame change in the original. For some reason it happens so fast in the original that the sequencing stays in tact. But, when I tried to encode it again the same issue happened. So I backed up a different copy of I Am Legend and it works fine. Hope it helps.

I've ripped it twice, and still the same result. One before the latest version of AnyDVD HD, and one after, both with the same problem.

I've ripped it twice, and still the same result. One before the latest version of AnyDVD HD, and one after, both with the same problem. I can almost guarantee that what you are seeing is due to a bad rip... I've seen it before. AnyDVD is good, but it isn't perfect, sometimes there's a glitch. If you play back that section with MPC you'll very likely see that the "ski blue screen" issue is there before the encode. It is also what is causing the out-of-sync.
I've successfully backed up the US version of "Gran Torino".

Alright, fair enough. I don't have a problem with backing it up again. It's just weird that if I play the rip, it plays fine around that area, so it doesn't make sense that the rip is bad. That being said, I have no problem with ripping it again, and giving it another go. I let a friend borrow it, but once I get it back, I'll try once again. Thanks, fellas.

Haven't used BD-Rb for a while as I started backing up to hard drives, so not constrained by BD5/9 sizes. Excited to see jdobbs added MKV output. Wondering what CRF setting people are using for backups to MKV. In RibBot264, I'm using CQ18, which is single-pass. I'm interested in good quality obviously (as I use a large front projection system), but fast encoding is also important. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Nope, everything is default except delete workfiles after encode and of course selecting the subtitles to use.

I'm mostly using this output format since it was added. I am using either 18 or 20 as CRF value. Depends a bit how large or small the output gets, haven't decided if I can see any difference on my 108" projector screen between these two settings.
The only thing missing is the ability to add DTS tracks to the MKV output. Today I remux the MKV with DTS for the movies where I want to use DTS.

Just did a full movie backup to BD5 of The Punisher, region A, and tested with both software players PowerDVD and TMT3 as well as burned to DVD+RW for playback on my Sony S360.
The backup completes successfully, however the two initial menu buttons are not present on the backup.
The original disc and rip work correctly. When you first insert the disc and it starts, there is a brief intro Lionsgate advert followed by a menu tutorial, how to use your remote control, etc.. There is also two buttons available at this time to play the movie or go to the main menu, which allow you to skip this tutorial. If you don't choose, the movie just starts after the tutorial, approx. 30 seconds later.
These two buttons are not there on the BD-RB backup.
The movie does start and play properly after the intro ends, and does return to the main menu when the movie finishes, but for some reason these menu buttons are left off/not present at the beginning.

The other possibility is if it is a multi-part feature -- the problem I said I'm working with SoniG showed a similar symptom that seems to be caused by the use of FFMS for frame-serving.

That is the thing, I believe you will get the same results when you rip that same original of Gran Torino. You need to acquire a different copy of Gran Torino. I would be shocked if you didn't get the results you are looking for then. I too successfully backed up my US version of Gran Torino.

Well, that'd suck balls. I'd have to rent it from Netflix to properly rip it, when I own the damned disc. I think I'll wait until you do your magic with SoniG and cross my fingers that was the issue. Thanks again!

I've just updated the first post of this thread with a link to the newest beta release of BD-RB (v0.33.07). Changes for this release: Added a hidden option "SHUTDOWN_SLEEP=1" which will make
the "Shutdown after Rebuild" option on the FILE menu to
"Sleep after Rebuild" instead.Since I've updated to v0.33.07 my computer does not shutdown after the rebuild is complete. I usually enable the "Shutdown after Rebuild" option and let BD Rebuilder do it's thing overnight, but after the last three encodes my system is still on in the morning, even though the log shows I've enabled shutdown and says it's been initiated when the rebuild is complete. Thanks for any help. Thanks for the report. I'll check it out. Its possible I may done something in the changes to enable sleep mode...
Since I've updated to v0.33.07 my computer does not shutdown after the rebuild is complete.

bd rb closed down but system was still running Yeah, I made a "fat finger" typing mistake when I added the SLEEP code. I've fixed if for the next release.

No problem with mine, ran a backup last night and it shut down as it always has. :) You may want to make sure you're using v0.33.7, because it didn't work for me either. But it's possible, I guess, because the error was in the code for obtaining the privilege token.

Definately v0.33.7. Using Windows 7 Pro too!
the error was in the code for obtaining the privilege token.
I guess I'm having higher privileges! :p

Checked the first post and couldn't find the answer: Downloaded the latest version and ran inspect.exe and it said HAALI Splitter was not the correct version. What is the correct version? Thanks for all your hard work on this excellent tool.
Edit: Found the problem, had to delete the folder and re-install matroska and all is well now.

Well, that'd suck balls. I'd have to rent it from Netflix to properly rip it, when I own the damned disc. I think I'll wait until you do your magic with SoniG and cross my fingers that was the issue. Thanks again!
I've never had this sort of thing happen before until recently. I tried to rip "Big Trouble in Little China" onto my computer and couldn't because it wasn't recognized in my LG Blu-ray burner. It took three discs before I was able to read it in my computer. The funny thing is that all the discs were able to be read in my Oppo Blu-ray player.

I have seen a funny behaviour with the above movie.
Main movie m2ts is 23G, 1:37:49
There is also a 'Making of' m2ts that is 18G, 2:01:38.
Ironically, BD-RB goes for the longest file in the set for movie only mode which is the wrong file in this case.
Would need to add an option to select which file we want (or better, implement the 'Blank' option in full movie mode so we can keep the menus and get rid of the rest).
any of the two options would fix the problem.
:thanks:

This is how BD-RB works. From a previous post: :)
This extra just happens to be longer than the main movie, thus BD-RB chooses it first. Though, for the most part, BD-RB is fairly simple to use, it does require some user intervention on some discs like this.
If you select mode, then Alternate Movie-Only Playlist, you will then see the other options available for the movie. It is usually a good idea to check this on movie-only backups, since some movies have multiple playlists that may have different chapter counts, so you can try to be selective for the correct one.
Jdobbs-
Since you use a SONY BDP-S301 blu-ray to test, I'm curious as to if you use a 120hz television? The reason I ask is that the movie THE BLIND SIDE, the picture comes out fine on my Vizio player. However, on my Sony bdp, the video becomes jumpy at areas of the movie that have alot of motion in it, such as the two teams running on the field. The only reasoning that I can think of that can be the problem is that this model player supposedly did not originally support bd-r before a firm-ware upgrade. So, because it is a post release fix could this make refresh rate errors? I guess it could be something astray with the rebuild but i have a hard time believing since it did work flawlessly with the Vizio. Not sure if this is the same result for this player on a 60 hz TV.

:thanks: No irony involved. There is no way for BD-RB to know which MPLS is the main feature -- so it has to assume the longest one is (which is correct 99.99% of the time). There is already an option to view the stream so you know which is being encoded (right click on the stream), and to change it (on the MODE menu).
Interesting that the "making of" is longer than the film. What kind of egocentric director spends more time talking about how he decided to tell a story -- than the actual telling of the story itself?
