Just woke up and checked Sherlock Holmes, backed up perfect with no errors on rebuild. Maybe you have a bad rip.

I was looking at the avisyth scripts and I noticed the ConvertToyv12 is using the default 601 sd matrix instead of the HD Rec.709 coefficients, does it matter? I'll look at it. Rec.709 should be used for HD sources. Since there is no conversion to-or-from RGB, I don't think it matters. It shouldn't hurt to add matrix="rec709", so I will. Since I'm adding filter editing, there's always the chance that someone may convert to RGB in their created sequence of filters.

[Edit] I just tested it. Since the source is not in RGB, adding the "matrix=" parameter results in an error. So the way it is doing it now is correct. If someone changes the colorspace in their filters (entered via the new filter editor), it will be their responsibility to also convert it back properly.

I too have found this to be true, unfortunately. If you have the capability, burn that same backup to BD-RE and I believe you will find it will work perfectly.
Not sure if this is a BD-RB problem, limitation of AVCHD, or a standalone firmware issue, but these titles have been an issue for me since BD-RB was released. I now shy away from full backups to BD5/9 for universal titles, instead go with BD-R or movie only to BD5/9.

@Capsbackup

Thanks for the re-confirm - sometimes I'm never sure if it's me screwing up badly on some of this stuff. Haven't graduated to a BD burner yet, but may have to. This particular one would appear to have nothing at all to do w/ BD-Rebuilder and strictly a player issue. I just discovered that same "Green Zone", full disc to BD9 backup (with the AUXDATA folder removed) plays fine on a Samsung BD-P1500, albeit w/o the PIP audio. I can certainly live without the PIP, but I prefer doing full disc backups mainly for the extras - which at times can be as interesting as the movie (e.g. knowing that the MET D team on this one was largely made up of actual war veterans vs. actors sheds a much different light - at least for me, anyway). Just another reason for BD-R being the way to go.

If the PiP secondary audio is DTs Express, then there is no way, at this time, to include it in a full backup, regardless of BD5/9 or BD-R/RE.

any problems found?

I also have Sherlock Holmes. Backed up perfect (full disc/bd-25) with no errors. Bad rip maybe?

I stream the Movie Only m2ts (Custom 46,900Giga, that the video will not reencode) with Dolby Digital from PS3MediaServer to PS3 (BDMV/STREAM), but some are shown as "defective".

Didn't find out till now why some are fine, some not.

Then i reencode again with BD25 option, then it's fine.

No matter what I do, “The Twilight Saga - New Moon” BD re-encode comes out with its Audio out of sync! It’s delayed by 2-3 seconds.
The movie plays fine (audio is synced) before re-encoding with BD Rebuilder on the computer. After re-encoding and mounting the ISO image in Daemon-Tools, Audio is no longer synced. Luckily, I always check my ISO’s with D-Tools before the burning process so I haven’t wasted blank BD’s so far.

I tried both “Full Backup” and “Movie only Backup”. Both failed (out of sync).
Tried to keep audio track intact by selecting “Keep HD Audio” + “Do no convert DTS to AC3” and “Do not re-encode AC3” options checked. Still out of sync…
These are the audio tracks with the movie (in “Movie only Backup”):

http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/4453/bdshot.jpg

I even tried to just grab the AC3 Stereo track disregarding the DTS-HD track… still no luck

My target output is BD-25 and inspect.exe is all OK:
- Windows Version: 6.1 [7600]
- AVISYNTH Version: 2.5.7.0, Ok
- HAALI Splitter: Ok
- FFDSHOW: 3326, Ok
- WIN7 preferred AVC CODEC: Ok
- WIN7 preferred VC-1 CODEC: Ok
- WIN7 preferred MPEG2 CODEC: Ok
- FFDSHOW VC-1 set to "wmv9", Ok
- FFDSHOW MPEG2 set to "libavcodec": Ok
- FFDSHOW AVC set to "ffmpeg-mt": Ok
- BD Rebuilder v0.34.0.2, Ok
- X264: Ok
- AFTEN: Ok
- FAAC: Ok
- MP4BOX: Ok
- WAVI: Ok
- TSMUXER: Ok

Have successfully encoded lots of Blu-Rays so far but this seems the only one that has out of sync audio issues.

Please advise as to what I should do – I would greatly appreciate it.

What did you use to rip it with? AnyDVDHD is the preferred method.

jdobbs, I had no problem making a full backup to BD9 of this movie, everything worked perfectly.
Twilight, the first in the series, was also done to BD9, full backup, and though completed successfully and played back perfectly on the PC, would not play the audio, or no audio is heard from the main feature on playback on my Sony S360. :(
Not sure what ripper Hookahice used, since AnyDVDHD and DVDFabHD Decrypter would not use such a file name.

@Hookahice

1. What ripper did you use?
2. Please run INSPECT.EXE and post the results. The only time I think I have ever seen out-of-sync problems posted is when the wrong codecs are in use.
3. If this isn't a rip from a full-up disc -- please remember that preprocessed sources are not accepted for bug reports (the problems are usually caused by the preprocessing).

I posted INSPECT.EXE results above (in original post). All OK.
I am assuming AnyDVD HD was used to rip it from the original (though, I can't confirm this) however, as I said, the original ISO which is 40GB+ (pre BDR re-encode) is fine with the audio... it's only after BDR's re-encode that the audio is going out of sync. (I am trying to fit this onto a BD25).
I believe is it not a multi-part m2ts. Here is the contents of STREAM folder which shows it's one big file. Other files are extras such as behind the scense and such...
http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/352/newmoonwe.jpg

Not sure if this would help but here is some info from BDedit.exe of the untouched (before using BDR) of the 00001.m2ts file:

@jdobbs

Hi!

Just as the findings by "Capsbackup", I too "had no problem making a full backup to BD9 of this movie, everything worked perfectly."

Therefore, I just wanted to say that it pains me to see that there continue to be others wasting your time (as well as the time of well-intentioned testers) attempting to track down problems only encountered in what appear to be other-than-commercial BluRay discs (e.g. "CHDBits", different filesize)...

Hookahice

That's fine Setarip_old, I don't mean to waste anybody's time. Just seeing people confirm that this movie worked for them is good enough for me. No need for getting riled up over it...
I consider myself a “well intended tester” as well. This movie was the only exception I had… but it sucks anyways so I will just delete it. Moving on…

Just an fyi, the filesize thing doesn't mean anything... It could be a different region Blu-Ray of the same movie - sometimes BD's don't have the same exact files on all regions of the same movie.

Well, I just looked at my disc of "New Moon" using BDEdit and it appears to be just like yours. My M2TS filesize is the same as yours too. My copy is the US version -- so I assume yours is the same.

I had to cancel the encode last night so I could use that computer. I'll run it today.

I choose to "Keep HD Audio for BD25 encoding" + "Do not convert DTS to AC3" and "Do not reencode AC3" options.

But if it's working for you, there must be something wrong with my copy... I will grab the original again and try again.

I appreciate your effort with testing this, jdobbs. Thank you!

Of course all my setup is OK, and I already passed many James Bond BD. This one seems to have false PiP on the movie from apart m2ts files, the main movie himself splitted in multi m2ts. Issue seems to come from the bonus parts, not the movie. I don't have time right now to really investigate. But I'm here if you want me to do some stuffs. I finish the BD in fixing knotty m2ts parts manually, and will tell you if the BD play well despite this bug.

Cheers!

a lot of the sync problems people are having (most of the time) is due to hardware issues.. meaning computer equipment is too old/slow to handle HD, fine for DVDs but NOT HD. I found this out when we first started to mess around with HD/Blu-Ray when it all first came out... you NEED to get faster hardware, the fastest the better. It ALL makes a difference!! You are kidding yourself if you think NOT!! ...ie... CPU (QuadCore is Better) - MOTHERBOARD - VIDEO CARD - MEMORY (FAST & ALOT) - HARD DRIVE SPEED (NEVER BELOW 72000rpms) - then GOODBYE SYNC PROBLEMS... or just forget HD all together. as soon as we got better hardware, we have never had any more audio/video sync problems.

and another tip!... don't play around on the same computer with hi-tech memory eating apps/games when rendering HD/Blu-Ray video...

just some facts to think about...

Is it possible to have Keep HD Audio also for Custom Size (e.g. 46900 Mb)?

I want to rip Main Movie without any Video compression and HD Audio to the HD.

It should now -- but I'll check to be sure.

Hookahice

I posted INSPECT.EXE results above (in original post). All OK.
I am assuming AnyDVD HD was used to rip it from the original

I'm curious. If you're just "assuming" that "AnyDVD was used to rip it" then that means that you didn't so who did?

I'm looking at the comparison of woah!'s capture and it shows the files as MPEG-2 Transport stream while yours are listed as AVCHD video for the same files, and assuming it's the same movie why are there so many discrepancies? This might explain part of your problem. Perhaps you could enlighten us?

Hi guys,

just used BD-Rebuilder yesterday nite for the first time - thank you jdobbs for this wonderful app !!!

I ripped "3:10 to Yuma" to HD via AnyDVD HD then down converted the Blu-Ray structure via BD-Rebuilder to 25GB size.

Original size folder: 44.6 GB
output size folder: 21.6 GB

Original size main movie file: 27.9 GB
output size main movie file: 11.9 GB

Original video bitrate: 24.3 Mbps
output video bitrate: 7 265 Kbps (max. bitrate 35 Mbps)

So by the look of the numbers it seems like extras & menus got down converted by ca. 42% but the video file got down converted by ca. 58% ...

Here are my questions regarding the usage of this app:

(1.) Is 21.6 GB the maximum disc space available on a single layer BD ? If not, why does the app not use the max disc space available ?

(2.) Is it possible to specify a desired (minimum) bitrate ?

(3.) Is it possible to strip content (such as extras, audio tracks etc.) from the Blu-Ray structure ?

(4.) Is it possible to define a lower bitrate setting for un-important content (such as extras, menus etc.) ?

My intention is to keep as much as possible av quality (of the main movie) to fit on a 25GB single layer BD by keeping the Blu-Ray structure.

Thanx for your advise in advance !

- M

Are you running out of disc space?

No, plenty of disc space. "BD" has been working fine up until this one as well as after (burned others since).

Any clues/advice on what I might be doing wrong to draw the following error?

It did all the re-encoding and failed at mkvmerge - what could I be doing wrong?

Cool! Thank you!

Last night I tried the "other movie only output" and chose "mkv container, 1920x1080,AC3 Audio" but it errored out without much detail:

Some time ago I did a full backup of a Terminator Season (1?) disc. Watching the backup was fine until the 3rd or 4th episode - the audio was out-of-sync for that one! I checked the backup created on the computer by BD Rebuilder - out-of-sync there too. Checked the original AnyDVD HD rip - in sync. Problem solved by defraging the hard drive (I don't remember if I needed to rerun BD Rebuilder or not). Since then, I defrag after ripping and again after processing with BD Rebuilder

I'm sure SparKeyD has a valid point to some degree, but I've had out of sync issues too, on Dexter Season 2 Disk 1 and 2. I'm sure its not my machine specs as I have a Quad Core 2.4GHz processor with 8GB DDR2 RAM and all my HDD's are 7200 RPM. I'm sure my sync issue had more to do with using the PC while it was doing a backup or my media or bad burn. I'm redoing the First disk tonight to see if it happens (these were done some time ago on an old version of BD-RB).

Hi jdobbs,

Been finding I have problems with backing up one of the Star Trek (Blu-Ray) movie series. Namely Star Trek IV.

I am ripping with DVDFab 7.0.7.0.

With Star Trek IV the main feature .m2ts is unplayable with MPC (audio only playback) and file thumbnails are not created by the Haali/Makstroka splitter. However all the titles in the ripped BluRay disk playback with A/V just fine in Cyberlink PowerDVD 10. Also the .m2ts file plays back fine (w/ video) in Windows Media Player.

I enclose the "MediaInfo" files for the (main feature) video stream in Star Trek III (which works with BD-RB just fine) and Star Trek IV (which doesn't play ball).

I have followed your guidance on what version of FFDShow and Makstroka splitter to use...

Any thoughts what is going wrong?

Thanks
Bob

Just as an FYI for anyone else that comes up with this problem.

I have had no problems with BD Rebuilder until about 2 days ago. It would load up and everything would act as it should, untill I told it to start the backup. It would start to run (getting as far as extracting the audio) and then freeze. The extraction would be stuck at 0.00%. After a few tests on my system and uninstalling BD Rebuilder and all it's necessary components, I found that txmuxer was what was freezing up. I found this via task manager. Once I stopped it from running, BD Rebuilder would then give an error and run again.

After searching my machine for viruses and what not, it hit me, the anti-virus software. I use Kaspersky Internet Suite and it auto updates itself. So I decided to add BD Rebuilder as an exception so that it wouldn't scan it or anything it runs.

Sure enough, I've got BD Rebuilder running again. So if anyone out there is running Kaspersky and BD Rebuilder looks like it's frozen like mine was, add it to the exception list and all should be working again.

I hope this helps someone out there.

I'm getting fed up with all of them -- Norton sucks, McAfee sucks, Kaspersky sucks... they all stop legitimate software from running because they think people buy computers just to run antivirus software. They can all shove their useless programs where the sun don't shine...

I use the newest version.

And are using the outout to MKV feature.

And all of the movies I have done all comes out in much bigger size than I expected.

Should be around DVD duallayer, but always get 10-12G files.

Also for some reasons it selects the first Sound track as a default, and if I change it and safe the project and load the project file again, then it goes back to default?
Very strange?

The custom target size isn't used for those files (see the readme file). They use the CRF value selected and the size is determined by that choice. CRF outputs a fixed quality level, not a fixed size.

Thanks for the quick reply...
So even if I use the 2 Pass option I can not get it to fit a DVD-9 in MKV. Only if I make a BD "copy" then it will limit the size.
I have been using DVD rebuilder for years and was so familiar with the GUI that I just thought it worked the same way. (-;
To bad I really wanted to be able to copy my MKV files to DVD-9 discs.

Antivirus software... I'm not sure a virus wouldn't be better. I'm getting fed up with all of them -- Norton sucks, McAfee sucks, Kaspersky sucks... they all stop legitimate software from running because they think people buy computers just to run antivirus software. They can all shove their useless programs where the sun don't shine...Amazingly, the best AV software is free: MS Security Essentials. But of course, it sucks too! ;)

Attempting to get full backup of "White Ribbon", none of BDR settings touched from the normal.

Getting the following:

Three attempts so far, all stops at 19.59% complete.

Any suggestions?

As usual, wait long enough and I'll solve my own self produced problem .

Sorry, a simple reboot of my machine solved the problem. Do that so rarely, machine's on usually 24/7, I forgot the obvious.

Thanks anyway, great product, sorry I muddled it up with my faux pas.

:thanks:

You can get it to fit DVD9, but you need to change the setting under Alternate Movie-Only Output, "CRF Value for Alternate Encode" from what it is set at to a higher value. Perhaps try 22, then see what the size turns out to be. You may have to experiment to achieve your desired results. :)

These have been rare for me, :p , but I was able to make a full backup to BD5 of a Universal title, and the audio works and is heard for the main title during playback on my Sony S360! :)
The movie is Leap Year, and though it does not have PiP or many other features, it is a successful full movie backup to DVD media of a Universal title!

Not sure if anyone is having this issue, maybe its just me, backed up Dexter Season 2 Disk 1,Boondock Saints, and Sherlock Holmes. Getting really bad artifacting and blocks.. I uninstalled/reinstalled FFDSHow and the inspect and everything came up ok. The previous encode I did for dexter had spot on quality but the audio was out of sync.

I'm re-ripping Dexter now, going to run it through agian tonight.

Its gotta be something with my system right?
