I, too, noticed the RAM problem on my PC.
In the creating m2ts phase everything is fine but in the creating movie only BD structure phase the memory usage causes my system to barely respond as Windows begins swapping. In the first picture you can see the ram usage for the m2ts creation and when it begins to rise that's the creating movie only BD structure(when you look at the process list neither BD-RB nor tsmuxer are shown with that much memory, tsmuxer with 250-300 MB as in the m2ts creation phase).
In the second picture you see the memory usage after BD-RB is finished and more than 3 GB are released.

I also noticed that excessive consumption of memory in "Performing CRF Prediction"...

Isn't this the same as I observed in my case? Interlaced sources are encoded progressive ....

Same for me.
Interlaced sources are encoded progressive...

I've had the same problem, tried doing 'Depeche Mode - Tour Of The Universe' blu ray, which is 1080i/29.97. Resultant BD-RB encode was progressive.

Try going to the SETUP menu and click/add "und" to your audio selection list (undeterminted).

OK, so I got it to work but not by that method (I cannot see/find a checkbox for UND in the settings area, perhaps you can tell me where to find that).

Instead, I removed all check boxes from the audio section under audio settings. I had been trying to use "do not reencode AC3" thinking it would leave the 384kbps alone but instead I was getting no audio at all. With nothing checked, I am at least getting AC3 but it is being reencoded to 640kbps.

Maybe, if you can tell me where the setting is you are talking about, I can get it to pass the 384k stream without taking it to 640. However, if not, it still works for me.

I don't get it. I've done hundreds of interlaced sources... especially 720x480i and they all encode as interlaced.

I haven't had much opportunity to work on BD-RB the last few days. I'll run a 1080i/25fps source through tomorrow. If it encodes incorrectly I will fix it and hopefully get a version out either late tomorrow or Sunday.

@jdobbs

Just an FYI as I saw these comments, the file I asked about yesterday (with the "und" ac3 track) was 1080i. When I ran it through BD-RB, MediaInfo reports the resultant file is progressive. Still reports 29.97fps but "progressive". The file I started with shows 29.97 interlaced.

I've been able to repeat this issue, I'm guessing some change I've made recently must have caused it. I'm working on a fix and should have it out soon.

If it's interlaced, then yes "--tff" should be there.
If it's being encoded at 29.97 with 1080 resolution, --tff must be there for blu-ray compliance, even if the the original should (by mistake) have been encoded as progressive.
If the original content is progressive (no temporal shift between odd and even fields) it could be encoded with --fake-interlaced, but I am not shure if BD-RB can automatically decide between --tff and --fake-interlaced options.

The "--fake-interlaced" is used within BD-RB when the source has been deinterlaced, but the format is such that progressive isn't allowed (such as 720x480). That way the output of the deinterlacing can use the efficiency associated with progressive encoding but still be included in a BD (within specifications). BD-RB makes no attempt to try and find progressive content within an interlaced stream (other than IVTC) -- in fact I can't think of any reliable way that it could be done even if I wanted to.

If it's interlaced, then yes "--tff" should be there.Well, isn't that the issue we're discussing? Specifically that interlaced 29.97i (30000/1001) FPS concerts get encoded as progressive?

It seems there are several of us who have all found the same issue. Every tool I've tried report the video stream as interlaced (eac3to, TSmuxer, & DGdecNV). Visual inspection shows it's interlaced. Even BD-Rebuilder recognizes it's interlaced.

I don't see any ambiguity on whether or not it is interlaced.

Edit: I see you edited the post that you were able to duplicate the issue, so it seems we're all on the same page now.

Well, I've found what is causing it... an If/then/else statement that is not acting correctly. The problem is that it appears to be written correctly, but for some reason it isn't hitting the "else" when the "if" is false -- weird... I'll figure it out.

[Edit] Ok. I've fixed it. You'll see it in the next release.

No one wanted to teach you anything. But at times it is helpful to learn if other people experience a similar problem, or if it's only a local issue here. No offense. :)

Does anyone know of some good free software for reporting pulldown and field order in VC-1 interlaced sources? I have a routine that is scanning the picture header and I want to verify that some of the fields are being read correctly (I wrote it a long time ago, and I can't seem to find my reference material).

[Edit] Never mind. I found my reference...

Hi jdobbs,

I just checked my source, the one I used bd rebuilder on and it plays fine (ie. no blocking). Any other ideas? You missed the point. Something is likely intercepting the FFDSHOW CODEC while it is frame serving. The problem is in your system's configuration and there is really nothing I can do about it. It's likely some other program you have installed that has "gummed up the works". I can't fix something that isn't a problem in BD-RB -- and the fact that it is happening only on your system (especially at such a high bitrate) is proof positive that the problem is on your end.

I'd like to help you -- but there's really nothing I can do. Sorry.

I have updated the first post in this thread with links to a new release of BD-RB (v0.37.06). Changes for this version:- Corrected a bug in which 1080i sources could be
incorrectly reencoded as 1080p.
- Fixed an error that could cause MKV encoding to
fail due to blank maximum bitrate in the command
line.
- Corrected an issue in which the resume function
was not functioning properly due to the recent
implementation of HD audio selection checks.
- Correct a bug in which selecting "192Kbs" audio
output in DVD-5/9 output was not first doing a
conversion to 2 channel of multichannel sources.
- Made several improvements in bitrate calculation
and threshold checks.
- Updated the included version of X264.EXE to the
latest release (r1913).
- Updated the included version of X264-64.EXE to
the latest release (r1913).
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

Think I might have found the issue. When installing FFDSHOW from page 1 link. The VC-1 video format is not installed as a default you have to select it. Haven't verified yet but I'm guessing Ragingbull is VC-1.

From your log:
-----------------------
[12:10:32] BD Rebuilder v0.37.04 (beta)
- Source: RAGING_BULL
- Input BD size: 34.00 GB
- Approximate total content: [02:09:03.819]
- Target BD size: 22.95 GB
- Windows Version: 5.1 [2600]
- MOVIE-ONLY mode enabled
- Quality: High Quality (Default), ABR
- Audio Settings: AC3=0 DTS=0 HD=1 Kbs=640
[12:10:32] PHASE ONE, Encoding
- [12:10:32] Extracting A/V streams [VID_00000]
- [12:56:07] Reencoding: VID_00000 (1 of 1)
- [12:56:07] Collecting video information
- Source Video: MPEG-4 (AVC), 1920x1080 - Rate/Length: 23.976fps, 185,666 frames
- Bitrate: 19,189 Kbs

If you have a codec pack or another video encoding program installed that uses a different codec than ffdshow, this is most likely the problem.

I'm into some trouble converting "King of Queens - Season 2" into a BD25.

The resulting image quality is fine, no doubt. But when I click "Play all episodes" it seems that BD-RB inserts some delays (black frames) between the chapters. Everytime the intro stops, the scene (chapter) changes or a new episode starts (all of this results in a chapter change) there's about 7 seconds of black frames which is very annoying.

This 7 seconds between the chapters is not in the source-BD and I played the BD-RB-converted BD in VLC and PowerDVD. Everytime the same issue.

Any idea how to fix that? :(

Clearly I've been out of the loop a while. I haven't been receiving emails since the site went down a while back. I'm buying a few BD's this week, and will begin testing again on my primary :D Should be interesting, since my 965 Phenom has never seen the X264 process before ;)

Thanks again for a wonderful software JD :thanks:

@skulker

I'm confident it isn't a problem in v0.37.05. You've likely installed something else that is interfering with the encode. Uninstall BD-RB, AVISYNTH, HAALI, and FFDSHOW. Remove any CODEC packs you may have installed (you don't need them with FFDSHOW). Then reinstall the BD-RB and the versions or HAALI, AVISYNTH and FFDSHOW in the first post of the thread. I think that will make your problems go away.

@jdobbs

Just wanted to let you know the v0.37.06 release resolved my issue. I tested again with the titles that failed with v0.37.05

Thanks again jdobbs !

I apologize for doing this Jdobbs. I've searched my computer drives, and the web, and cannot find a text file that I THOUGHT i made, for addressing Bd Rebuilders hidden options. What I mean is, I'd like to experiment with only using 2 and 3 cores FIRST on my 965 Phenom machine. I'm certain there's a way to do this, It's simply slipped my mind :S Is there a compiled list somewhere, of all the tweaks we can do to X264, and BD rebuilder? Thanks in advance ;)

Hi!

This thread is specifically for unearthing, reporting, and resolving problems related to beta testing.

If you look carefully at other threads in this sub-forum, you'll find one that is specifically for posting suggested additions/"wish lists"...

I'm having this problem in "King of Queens - Season 2" on both Blu-Ray-Discs. It's exactly this set: http://www.amazon.de/King-Queens-Season-2-Blu-ray/dp/B001HY8QMC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1300297929&sr=8-1

I the latest version of 13th March I'm having a new problem:

"Failed to retrieve audio, aborted" in Title 0009. That never happened before the latest version.

In the next days I'll try "King of Queens - Season 3" and look if there's the same error.

Any idea :(?

Yeah! Got her running. Haali gave me trouble for some reason. So I uninstalled it, deleted the program folder, and deleted some registry settings, and Voila! My primary is running it's first Bd encode, with only 3 threads. I'm concerned about my Northbridge temp. I plan to somehow include it in my water loop.

When searching videohelp for a blue ray to DVD tool (http://www.videohelp.com/tools?convert=Blu-ray%20to%20DVD) BD Rebuilder is listed first.

Does BD Rebuilder do blue ray to standard DVD (480p) or only blue ray to AVCHD burned to a DVD disc?

If it does blue ray to standard DVD, can you please show me how to set this up? I have gone through the options and can't figure out how.

Thanks for your two great products!

There are 2 discs in the set and the problem is in both of the discs (after rebuilding, not before).

There are 2 discs in the set and the problem is in both of the discs (after rebuilding, not before). I ordered it the set. Hopefully I'll get it tomorrow or the next day. I'll run it and see what I find. Unfortunately, though, the donations lately aren't even covering the discs I'm having to buy... I'm not sure how much longer I can keep this up. I hope I can repeat it -- the one I ordered is NTSC and has 3 discs.

[Edit] Damn. I just realized the one I ordered was DVD, not BD. I don't even think "King of Queens - Season 2" has been released on Blu-Ray in the U.S. Not sure what I can do.

I just sold my secondary computer Jdobbs. Count on getting another donation. Probably significantly larger than the last one. Without BD rebuilder, I won't even bother. DVD Fab gets pretty bad reviews from what I've seen.

Check your funds buddy. You deserve it. YOur software is nothing short of epic!
