I said "famous" because I've seen it in the forum other times but I didn't want to offend you.
There´s no much information to say, I mean just download the zip file and uncompress into a folder but when I run BDRB.exe I get the error. I can't even start the program, no logs, no settings and when I run Inspect everything is ok.
As I said It doesnt happens with any other version, just with this new one. I'll still using the 0.39.04.

English is not my native language so excuse if there's any misunderstanding. Try downloading it again. I haven't seen any other reports of issues... and I just downloaded/tested it again.

The only time I recall for "Runtime Error 5" is on DVD Rebuilder -- and that was caused by use with a computer configured for Asian languages and no western non-Unicode setting.

I just downloaded the latest beta of BD-RB and I'm getting the following error. I've downloaded it a second time to see if the error disappeared but unfortunately it didn't.

Is there anything I need to install to resolve this error?

Thanks!

I downloaded it several times and I always have the same error.
My computer is in castilian(spanish) but the non Unicode language is english.

I downloaded it several times and I always have the same error.
My computer is in castilian(spanish) but the non Unicode language is english. Well that's two reports -- so it's definitely real. The question is: what do I need to do to recreate it?

Can you post your BDREBUILDER.INI file so I can make sure I have the same settings as you?

You get the error immediately upon loading?
What operating system are you using?

gzr
15th December 2011, 18:45
Yes, just immediately upon loading

I've made a new fresh installation so the BDREBUILDER.INI is the most basic one

[Options]
VERSION=0.39.0.5
MODE=0

I'm using windows 7 64bit. I don't know how you can recreate it but maybe it's related to some library or framework like the visual c. It's really strange since it doesn't happen to the other betas, I downloaded and installed the 0.39.04,03 and 02 each in it's own folder and they work without problems.

My computer is in castilian(spanish) but the non Unicode language is english. Spanish wouldn't cause the issue, as it's a western language -- and that problem is on DVD Rebuilder anyway, not BD Rebuilder.

Do you guys have auto updates activated within windows 7? I remember when Internet explorer 7 or 8 adversely affected dvd shrink. In a similar way.

But I suppose since the earlier versions run :confused:

I'm currently running 39.04. Literally! When the job is finished, I'll try the new version.

I have no problems either. Opened new version fresh with no problems. Updated the new .ini file with the old configs. Still no problem. Did you guys even see the donate window? You didn't mention it, so I'm curious.

You're telling me that those two entries are the only two in your INI file????

There should be more in the INI file, which makes me think it is crashing while reading the settings. There was only one change I can remember there.

Can you do me a favor? Find a legal WAV file somewhere on your system (c:\windows\media is a good place to look), and add the path to your INI file as a pointer to the completion sound. For example:

BEEP_SOUNDFILE=c:\windows\media\chime.wav

That way I can see if this new INI check is the cause of the error. Weird though that it wouldn't happen to others if that were it...

BTW. This is what your INI should look like after running from a clean install:

[Options]
VERSION=0.39.0.5

ENCODE_QUALITY=0
ONEPASS_ENCODING=2
AUTO_QUALITY=1

Yes, this are the only entries, believe it or not. The program crashes before it can load any configuration.
The the donate window appears but when you continue (or donate) the error comes.

Note that I corrected the previous post, I'd used the wrong name for the entry.

It works now, adding the BEEP_SOUNDFILE entry solved the problem. Thank you, it's a fantastic program.
Take this just as a suggestion but I think you could include a small wav file in the zip and an entry by default to it.

Take this just as a suggestion but I think you could include a small wav file in the zip and an entry by default to it.It uses the system default WAV as the sound file. It looks like the problem occurs when I'm querying the registry to find that file... I'm guessing it might be a Vista thing... man I hate Vista (buggy, buggy, buggy). I've tested this on Windows 7 and XP -- and both are fine. I got rid of Vista as soon as Windows 7 was released/tested.

I've been running Vista for years on several systems and I love it. I rarely ever have issues with anything. I vLited my installs and have them tweaked for performance.

After adding those entries to the INI now it opens fine so it wasn't an issue with Vista.

I've updated the first post of this thread with a link to the most recent release of BD Rebuilder (v0.39.06). Changes for this release (really only one):- Fixed an error in v0.39.05 that could cause a
"Runtime Error 5" at startup on some systems.
- Added code to check and correct for leading
M2TS file audio weirdness when building to
movie-only from a multipart source. (v0.39.5)
- Added a hidden option "BEEP_SOUNDFILE". This
item can be set to the path of an alternate
.WAV file to be used as the "Job Completion"
beep. See HIDDENOPTS.TXT. (v0.39.5)
- Corrected an error in which the "keeping audio"
messages are incorrectly printed for all streams
when "KEEP_HD_AUDIO". The audio was processed
correctly -- but was incorrectly reported in the
status log. (v0.39.5)
- Corrected an issue in which some AVS settings
may be set incorrectly when processing a non-480i
source when the hidden flag "IVTC_480i" is set.
(v0.39.5)
- Added new code to better prioritize playlists in
determination of main feature. (v0.39.5)
- Modified menu identification routines with the
intent of improving accuracy. (v0.39.5)
- Added code to check vbv-bufsize when vbv-maxrate
has been modified (due large audio inclusion) and
ensure the 1 sec buffer limit is always enforced.
(v0.39.5)
- Corrected problems with filter prefixes that could
cause incorrect application. (v0.39.5)
- Added a new filter prefix. An "s:" prefix tells
BD Rebuilder to include this filter for secondary
video. Note: When used the "s:" should be the
first prefix listed. (v0.39.5)
- Added inclusion of chapters ALTERNATE/MKV file
output. Chaptering can be disabled by using the
new hidden option "MKV_CHAPTERS=0" (see HIDDENOPTS)
(v0.39.5)
- Modified ALTERNATE rebuilding routines to save time
when using single source (non-mulipart) sources by
not performing the "PT 1" multiplexing. (v0.39.5)
- Updated the included version of X264.EXE to the
latest release (r2120). (v0.39.5)
- Updated the included version of X264-64.EXE to
the latest release (r2120). (v0.39.5)
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

hi, - and first of all, many thanks for this excellent app : I've been a faithful user of dvdrebuilder, and this one is going to be another fantastic little thing, thank you.

1) I do not know whether this is a bug or not, - or maybe I have not properly configured my system - but once I start bdrebuilder the first thing I see is a warning telling me that system is not properly configured for working with ffdshow and asking whether I want this to be done, - I click o.k. and get a confirmation that proper configuration has been done. this, however, remains valid till the end of the current session with bdrebuilder. when I start the application next time, - everyting repeats in the very same manner again.

2) a couple of questions, if you please (and sorry if questions would seem silly/show my personal lack of knowledge):

I have a new Intel Core i7 2600K speedy CPU + Z68 mobo + Nvidia GTX 560 Ti video card. So I've got both Intel QuickSync and Nvidia's CUDA. and I'm using Lucidlogix Virtu software to "switch" the graphic modes.

What influences most the actual speed of BDRebuilder ? Is it the speed of CPU as such ? Does the video-card plays it's role as well ? If so, could the BDRebuilder's speed benefit from Intel QuickSync technology ? Or should I better mainly rely on my discrete video-card ?

Thanks and Kind regards/oldy99

1. From the setup instructions in the first post of this thread:Note to Windows 7 Users: The first time (and only the first time) you run BD Rebuilder, you may have to "Run As Administrator". This is necessary so BD-RB can make CODEC preference changes in the Windows Registry. You do this by right clicking on BDRB.EXE and selecting "Run as administrator".

2. By far the most important component is processor speed. Second would be disc speed. With BD-RB the video card plays virtually no role except for playback.

Somethings wrong with the directory. It's getting that error from the operating system while trying to scan the folder. Is this a network drive? I think I remember someone reporting an issue something like this once.

Not a network drive and other movie folders on this drive are compatible with BDRebuilder. It must be the directory OR or a problem with 3D.

Perhaps there's a character in the directory rebuilder doesn't like? Are there any limitations Jdobbs? Or are the limitations the same as windows?

This is not really a bug, just a suggestion for enhancement since BD-Rebuilder is running on a Windows Platform:

It would be nice to press the "Esc" key to close a dialog window (equivalent of pressing the X to close the window). For example, if one goes to Settings => Setup or Help => About, they will be able to close the window by pressing the "Esc" key.

Currently, pressing the "Esc" key doesn’t do anything so this is just a suggestion.
But if this was done on purpose, then forget about this post.

Thanks for the awesome software BTW! Great job Jdobbs!!!

Trying to rebuild The Smurfs using v39.04, but I am getting the following errors after selecting the source:

Error Condition
BD Rebuilder experienced an error 2501
SourceCheck() 00009 2501

followed by:

Illrgal Source
Selected source is not BD fomat

100 plus rebuilds without any errors until now. Could be a bad backup, but video files play on my computer just fine.

I received that error when using AnyDvd HD and in the settings under Video Blu-Ray had several of the remove trailers and video sequences shorter than 10 mins. checked.

At the time I didn't realized it only worked with HTPC or watching with PC players. Un-checking the boxes fixed it and BDRB worked fine. Just a thought.

There's a thread for that too. The BDRB feature request thread, just a few threads below this one.

@Choyin;
More info needed... What did you use to rip the original Blu-ray disc, what is your playback device, is the audio consistently async throughout or gradually gets worse?

This is probably more coincidence than a bug, But in BD rebuider v.0.39.03 and now v.039.06 on 2 separate movies.
Using movie only and output to BD 25 leaving audio untouched.
BD Rebuilder will show in the log encoding not necessary on a rip of 25gb or larger. However when process is complete file is still to large for a single BD-R. As file is still the same size.
I have been able to work around this by using custom size and lowering it untill I force the rencode. My last rencode my my custom target size was 21500mb and my finished BD was 23383 mb
Both films the audio was with DD True HD audio. But again I have never come across this before. I am asumming it has something to do with DD True HD not being read correctly.

The bluray was downloaded.
My player is PS3 and a panasonic player.
The bluray has 4 chapters in 2 big .m2ts; the second .m2ts has the audio out of sync, the first .m2ts is ok.

1. Downloading isn't supported by the beta testing. (you'll be hard pressed finding aid from this forum)
2. Piracy isn't supported by Jdobbs, or the forum.
3. You probably have a corrupt source.

@jdobbs;
It appears there was a change in Aften for the latest version BD-RBV03906. File size of the new Aften is 236KB. File size from BD-RBV03904 is 267KB. On a full backup to BD5, Aften hangs and then stops working causing me to have to abort the backup. :(
I replace BD-RBV03906 with BD-RBV03904, resume the backup and it reencodes the audio and continues to completion and is successful.
I know there was some discussion another reported regarding a problem with Aften, but I have never experienced one until now. By reverting back to the version supplied with BD-RBV03904, I was able to complete this without Aften crashing, but not with the one supplied with your latest BD-RBV03906. :confused:

I was afraid that might happen. I just can't win with the AFTEN versions... previously I had a report from sonate that the other version failed on his system. That was after 2 1/2 years success with the last one.

I wish there was a dependable source for the one true working AFTEN version.

I guess what I'll do is put both versions into the zip. I'll start with the one that has worked for so long -- if that one fails, I'll automatically try the other one before exiting with failure.

Ughh... I've added so many "oddity workarounds" in BD-RB that they're taking up more programming time than the actual "do-it" code.

Perhaps having both versions available within BD-RB's downloadable zip, but include in the FAQ that if a user has the Aften error, they can switch the .exe to the alternative one. This way you can try to reduce your programming code "oddity workarounds". ;)

My belief is that a (small) or large percentage will even read the FAQ or even search for a fix to a problem as "many" individuals just want a 1 or 2 click solution thus having many more "My Aften don't work" post.

Just a thought.

I already made the change. It uses the reliable version all the time, but then tries the "sonate" version before announcing that an encode fails.

An old axiom in the programming world: If they have to read the manual to use it, they won't use it.

I don't know if this has any relevance here, but for the older Kurtnoise version of Aften 0.0.8 it is recommended to always use the parameter "-readtoeof 1". Without this option it can happen that the encode stops before EOF is reached.

Cheers

manolito That setting is always used in BD-RB. The bottom line is that there doesn't appear to be any version that works on all systems. But the one I was using before this last change is by far the most reliable, and I went against my better judgement in changing it. In fact it appears to work for every system except sonate's. I'll use the Kurtnoise version as a backup in case of failure.

And it is working spectacularly well. For the first time I have seen a movie shrunk down to a BD-5. Even tried a full disc backup and found everything not only worked on my sharp bd player but the quality of both video and audio was incredible.

Don't know how many more times I can tell you that I have tremendous respect for you.

But now at least we know where the problem lies. Having myself read every FAQ in detail and scouring forums and discussion groups for any information, I had to find out that there were problems with aften.exe in general , outside the realm of BD rebuilder.

And if many people are doing bd25 encodes, the question of AC3 conversions might not ever come up for them. I remember a year ago trying an AC3 conversion and getting the aften failure but after realizing that decent 25g BD media cost was on a par with DVD-9 , I simply clicked the keep HD and do not encode AC3 parameters and never had a problem until I had a specific reason to create a BD5.

So now at least the info is out there in case anyone runs into the same problem.

Hi folks,

Ran into an interesting problem with a movie-only, BD-25 backup of HP7pt2. The BD-25 size was OK so the original video was used, and there were no concerns throughout the BD-RB and ImgBurn processes.

However, when I watch the resulting video on my standalone player (Sony BDP-S580), there is a noticeable video stutter at the boundary point between each of the original streams; there were 58 input m2ts streams. The stutter looks like 1 video frame is misplaced at the boundary. The audio was re-encoded to AC3-640, and there is no perceptible audio stutter at these boundary points. I have not noticed this problem before on any of the previous HP discs.

If I turn on the "display" feature of the BD player it shows an instantaneous Mbps readout. Typically for this disc it ranges between 15 and 25 Mbps, but whenever a segment boundary happens the readout briefly drops down to 1Mbps and then jumps back up again.

I did a detailed check of the first 4 boundary points in another multi-segment BD-25 backup; Aliens (Alien 2). I could not detect any stutter at those first 4 boundary points, and the Mbps readout was steady.

So, something odd seems to be happening with THIS particular disc. I'm running another encode right now, using the "FORCE_ENCODE=1" option, to see if allowing BD-RB to actually re-encode the video before multiplexing makes any difference.

If anyone else who has done a BD-25 of HP7pt2 feels inclined to check their backup for this issue then the first 4 boundary points if this film happen at the following points:

0:05:36
0:06:20
0:13:17

Ran into an unusual situation while poking around BD-Rebuilder.

I have run a couple of sucessfull encodes but wanted to check my settings so I tried the tip of "run as administrator" I was surprised that BD-RB reported that ffdshow had to be installed before it could run and that BD-RB must abort.
When I run BD-RB inspect, it shows all the ffdshow options set as OK.

Just thought I would pass this along. Thanks for the great work.

Nope, it is a commercial NA disc.

Interestingly, my latest rebuild of this disc using a forced encode does not show the same problems. I'm re-doing the forced encode again at a higher quality level. Then I'll repeat the original, no video re-encode version to see if the problem returns. Thank goodness for BD-RE discs.
