Since version 44.15, I have been experiencing "Not Rersponding" at the top of the window when it reaches 100% of extracting each video. Oddly this occurs when using the faster BD-Rebuilder settings. Even that has exceptions. I used it on one that had 39 parts. One through thirty-six hung on extracting the video, but thirty-seven through thirty-nine went through fine. I noticed they were the three largest videos as well. Thankfully, BD-Rebuilder will restart from where it left off, but this requires babysitting it through all the hangs. I was hoping that 44.17 would fix the problem, but it didn't. After going through two tries, I decided to set it to the slower two pass setting and it workes just fine. Any suggestions on what I can check to eliminate this problem. I don't mind using the slower settings, but using the faster settings would be nice from time to time...

im just going to suggest something that has worked for me in the past re-install all those things that he told to install on the 1st page of this forum!

Look in your Jar directory for an unusally large folder, possibly like 06000. This might be a form of protection.
thank you very much

I reinstalled everything, and I used his inspect program to verify all is well. It got "OK" on everything. If 44.14 hadn't expired, I would go back to that and see if it still worked. At least the slower settings work...

I believe you could set the system date to the date of that older version and then run it.

Using BD Rebuilder v.44.17, I tried encoding Star Trek 1 as a movie-only MKV container 1920*1080 640kbs DD5.1 file. After the extracting A/V streans completes I get a "Stop Statement Encountered" error box and the program terminates.
On a different note, is there any way to get BD Rebuilder to output a MPEG-2 file at a quality and resolution equal to the original Blu-Ray, preferably with burned-in forced subtitles if there are any? I like to load my blu-rays to my server which serves as a movie library watchable on my Tivo.

I will check again to see if there is a better way to transfer AVC files to the Tivo. When I've tried transferring AVC in the past, the transfer software transcoded AVC on the fly to Mpeg2. Since the Tivo can play AVC, that seems a waste of resources that also bogs the server down some. It doesn't transcode MPEG-2. Thanks!

So, is there a workaround? Or should I just hold my horses for a bit? :)

Excellent! I just tried that feature recently. Very cool about interactive rather than only a list that gets displayed. Yes, I know...evolution of BD-RB. Hehe!

TiVo Desktop doesn't support streaming ("Transcoding") without buying the "Plus" part of the Desktop program. There are other ways, probably but since I use my LG player and external USB Hard Drives with TV & LG player, I haven't investigated further into streaming to TiVo HD.
If you have edited MPG shows on the hard drive (VideoReDo/TVSuite), yes, TiVo Desktop (without "Plus") will transfer them.
@ roadhowl
May I currently suggest converting the MKV's to MPG via VLC? If you change the default MPEG-2 settings you could set it to keep the, if you've kept them, original AC-3. Subtitles are also possible. Use MKVExtract. It does do "Burn In" it looks like. I haven't used that part of VLC, so...

Looking forward to this, as I've had nothing but problems with Quick-Play. It's amazing, really: 4 different PCs, all running Windows 7 64-bit, all using only the approved software from post 1, and none of them have ever managed to create a proper Quick-Play backup. Boggles the mind.

Hehe!I've also updated the scanning algorithms to more accurately prevent repeats (playlists that have almost the same set of components). Quick-Play really comes in handy when combining DVD or BD series discs into one BD-25/50. I created it specifically for my own use in doing that.

It never ever creates/copies the menu. A few times the resulting backup has played despite the error, but without menus, like a movie-only backup. I wonder if it's something in my set-up, a rare combination of ticked boxes etc. that causes it.

I wonder if it's something in my set-up, a rare combination of ticked boxes etc. that causes it.Typically it will start and play without the popup pseudo-menu. You get to that by pushing the MENU button on the remote. If there is only one title that meets the minimum-playlist-length criteria, then it will work the same as a movie-only backup. There's no need for a menu when there is only one item.
In the next release it will do the same unless there are several titles -- in that case it will go to the menu at startup.

I recall you sharing that bit of info before. Still, it's pretty sweet to know you're updating it to be more interactive. By interactive I'm thinking you mean, press the MENU button and now you're able to select which in the list to view?
I've also noticed the repeats, I'm pleased to test that when released.

I've tested with VLC 2.0.8 and I'm unable to have it convert an MKV BD-RB created to MPEG-2 that my TiVo HD will accept for transfer and play. I've tried different settings, and...nada... Transfer fails. I'm using TiVo Desktop 2.8.3 with the "hack" from the TiVo Forum to make the software transfer files correctly. However, I am using my TVSuite V4 (VideoReDo) to produce an MPG with 1080 and AC-3 but Closed Captioning (SRT) and SUP (Blu-ray Subtitles) are not retained. It doesn't provide a Burn-In option that I can find, where as VLC would. Yet, it does play through my TiVo after rerender and listed within the TiVo Video Share for the Desktop program; not using Plus.
PM me if you wan to talk more...as I want to keep On Topic here. I write the above in hopes it'll help someone else. I'm going to check some other programs to see if something will keep SRT as Closed Captions. It's been a fun experience.

I've noticed that since installing the older/recommended version of Haali has caused my playback of mp4 files to be out of sync.
I'm letting my player act as splitter in the mean time to fix this, but are there plans to let BDRB use a more recent version of Haali?

Yeah, I've been doing a similar process in the past. The reason I asked about MPEG2 from BD Rebuilder is that there is a MKV setting that already does part of what I need; convert the Blu-Ray to AC3 and burn in forced subs. But then I have to process the whole file again to go from MKV to MPEG2 using something like VideoRedo. If BD Rebuilder output MPEG2, it would be a perfect one-shot tool for me.

Hello,
when setup the audio and subtitle streams via the bd gui (by clicking on a stream) and then add this job to the batch queue, these settings are only recognized for the video file where the settings have been made.
Example: 1. Under Setup choose the language English for audio and subtitle.
2. Under BD GUI unset English und set for example Spanish instead.
3. Add this setting to batch queue
4. Compare the options for the audio und subtitle settings in the bdbatch.ini file (option AUDIO=... and SUBS=... )
Of course you could only see this effect, if the whole video consists of multiple video files not just one.
Is this a feature or a bug?

Hello,
when importing a dvd in sd format, set convert to hd 720p under setup and choose the size of an alternate mp4 output, the output seems not to be calculated correctly.
In my case an output size of 1713 MB was chosen and the alternate output had a size of about 1048 MB.

Settings>Setup are general settings. The Stream tab changes you make are on a per job basis.

If the size 1280*720 of ALTERNATE is chosen by an input of a SD DVD input, i got the following error: PopUp Window, which tells me that the h.264 encoder has a problem.
If I set "convert to HD 720p" this error does not appear.
Do I need to use another setup for upscaling von SD to HD in ALTERNATE menu?

I don't want to change previously added batch jobs.
If you look on the bd gui stream tab while a video is loaded in Movie Only mode and if the video consists of multiple video files (VIDs), then the settings you can manually change are just for one VID file. If the general settings under Setup differ from your manual setup in the bd gui stream tab and you choose "add current project to batch queue", the entries AUDIO and SUBS contains the settings for each VID file of the video. But the manuall setting in the bd gui stream tab is only recognized for the VID file which is visible in the bg gui stream tab.
Sorry, if I can not explain this more precisiously.

I'm using the newer Haali 20130623 version (just to be able to go 64-bit in AVCHDcoder). And it works 99% of the time for me. Very rarely I get an error and the encode stops. I just fire it up again and it continues. With the recomennded version I have 100% successrate. So the new version isn't completely stable with BD-RB. Atleast for me.

If you are talking about Movie-only and seamless branching, the audio and subtitles you see in the one VID affects all the other VIDs. In other words, X out an audio stream in that one VID and it is automatically Xed out for all the VIDs

I am glad someone brought up forced subtitles again. I am just plain confused how these work. Using Win7 MCE to play movies, my forced subtitles are hit and miss, mostly miss. When the movie gets run through BDRebuilder, I use movie only, keep only the English sound track and include all of the subtitle versions. The movie plays in VLC with the English subtitles always on. Is there a setting I am missing in BDR and or MCE?

I believe that with VLC you merely right-click the screen and de-select 'Subtitles' which I THINK is usually selected by default. You absolutely should be able to turn the subs off by doing that or perhaps set it that way to stay in the 'Preferences'.

Subtitles aren't always displayed automatically by VLC. VLC checks the flag within the MKV container and displays them accordingly. :-) If it's outside MKV it might display automatically.

Hi first off I would like to say thank you for making this program its awesome. I would like to know if there are any plan in the future to have the option to use the gpu to encode instead of using the cpu ? I am sorry if this has been asked and answered before, but I think it would make the encoding process so much faster.

I've had a strange error. I used BD Rebuilder 44.17 to process the Blu-ray of Star Trek Generations into a 1920x1080 MKV file with 640kbs AC3. It seemed to work ok and the file seemed the correct length, but the processed video in the MKV file essentially "froze" on a particular frame and never changed that frame for the rest of the movie length. The sound seemed to process correctly.

Bad rip probably. I've had trouble like that before. One of my optical drives ignored a read error. Ripped it with a different drive, and voila! You may not notice a problem with the ripped files either. The applications however do notice it.

BD-RB in Edit mode, with English checked under "Audio Langs to Keep" under Setup: In the Feature, de-select any of the "extra" English audiotracks, then Save as Project. Quit BD-RB. Launch BD-RB again and the Open Project i.e. the .epr you just saved. The audio track deselected before is selected again.
This same issue exists for the Subtitles i.e. de-select a sub and save the project, reload the project and the sub is selected again.

Hmm you mean we can't use Projects in Edit mode then? Not now, not ever?

If it can't be done for some technical reason, maybe it would help the next guy to (simply?) grey-out the Save Project menu item when "Movie & Menus (Auto-blank Extras)" is checked (though I guess the worst that can happen is that extra audiotracks would reduce the bits available for other stuff).

I though you were talking about audio/subtitle selections that were being unchecked...

Sorry for the lack of clarity on my part.. I prefer to use MCE to organize and play the movies. Sometimes the forced subtitles show up.. more often they do not show up. Is there a setting in MCE or BDR I should using? e.g District 9, no subtitles. Pretty hard to watch without them. I re-ripped it, tried different RBD settings, I know jdobbs uses this as a test movie... I am doing something wrong. Any insights how to get forced subtitles to show up every time they are used in every movie?
