A "31.02 pixelator"??? WTF? You're acting as if there has been a reported pixelation problem with 0.31.02 (other than by you)...

The only change that has any effect on that at all would be the new X264 version. Of course if you are using Windows 7 you would also be using FFDSHOW -- but if you weren't you'd be having other issues.

Try the version of X264 from 31.01 with 31.02. At least then you can see if there is any difference. You'd just replace X264.EXE in the bd_rebuilder\tools folder.

Nothing really different or special about Earth_US. It is MPEG-4 AVC (PiP) with 1 DTS-HD Master audio, 1 DTS, 5 DD 640kbps audio, and 1 DTS Express secondary audio track.
I made a movie only of this disc to BD5, works great.
00001.m2ts is 25.9GB size, 1080P, so if you just want a movie only to BD-25, you should be successful without reencoding, just remove some audio tracks.
Perhaps try a movie only to BD5 just to see if you can successfully reencode 00001.m2ts without doing a full backup. This should confirm if you are setup correctly.

@Race Guy;
So SOMETHING went FUBAR with 31.02 jdobbs......., at least on my end.
This is more likely! :p

Speaking of the new version of x264, jdobbs. I just did 3 different flix (all full backup some MPEG 4 some VC-1, some BD-9 some BD-25) on 2 different 'puters (one XP & one Vista) using 31.02 and ALL of them show SEVERE "pixelation" on the main title when played back on my Oppo!If someone can confirm that the Oppo cannot play back --weightp 2 correctly, I have direct contact with the owner of the company and I can get this fixed ;)

I tried my GI Joe disc on another PS3 and it still did the same thing, so the problem is somewhere in the settings of either DVDFab, BD Rebuilder, or the burning software that is preventing the PS3 from reading it properly. I don't think it would be the burn since it was burnt the same as all the others, so that leaves DVDFab or BD Rebuilder.

Or the PS3!! Why not try it in a standalone, just to prove your point more convincingly. :cool:

Well, noting your animation, :p , I continue to confirm NO pixelation problems here.
Funny how the issue becomes BD-RB when things don't work right, or maybe .x264??
But they are working just fine for me! :)

So your backup does work on your PS3, which is good to know. So ChldsPlay either has a bad rip, bad reencode, bad burn, or a picky PS3.
As jdobbs has reported, he uses a Sony standalone player, S360 I think, which he confirms success with. The reason I mention testing on a Sony standalone is for similarities on playback.
We are all free to chose and buy whatever player we wish, and for standard playback of retail Blu-Rays, all will probably work. However, for AVCHD and BD-RB backups, Sony's seem to have a better track record.
So process of elimination is what I suggest, to discover the problem he is having.
But, this is just MHO. :)

I backed up Star Trek, GI Joe and a few other movies with the latest version of x264, BD Rebuilder and Windows 7 64 bit and I see NONE of the problems described in the last 10 posts

never had any problems with my ps3, every full backup to bd 25 i had made with bdrb worked perfect on ps3, and bd5/bd9 movie only too, tried on my father s360 and its the same deal, but in his s360 he can play full backup to bd5/9 (but i dont like so much stuff on a dvd5/dvd9)

I think I'll just go with movie only on GI Joe and move on. There's really not anything else of importance on the disc anyway.

It is some months ago, when I did my last reencode with the great BD-Rebuild software.

I just set up a new computer with a fresh Windows 7 x64. After setting up the OS, I installed ffdshow revision 3130, Avisynth 2.5.7 and Matroska Splitter. I activated the MPEG1 and MPEG2 codec, as usual.

But trying to reencode a Blu-ray ends in an error.

Hi there, new to BD-Rebuilder and Blurays in general. I've been using DVD-Rebuilder for a long time and have even purchased it. Totally worth it.

However, I have not yet been able to test BD-Rebuilder because it refuses to read my Bluray rips. I've ripped 2 BDs - Kung Fu Hustle and Fight Club (Both from Taiwan) with Anydvd HD. When I try to select the source in BD-Rebuilder, I get one of two
errors:

SourceCheck() 00055 2501
or
SourceCheck() 00006 2501

Any idea on what I'm doing wrong? Do I need specific settings in Anydvd HD or should I be using a different program to rip them?

By the way, this is Windows 7 x64. I have FFDShow, Avisynth, and everything else installed. BD-Rebuilder starts fine... I just can't select a source.

DVDFab is in beta and I believe jdobbs in a previous post advised that you not use it but use anydvd hd, I believe most everyone here would also agree as there are zero problems with it. But me and others have confirmed no problems with GI Joe ran through bd rebuilder and the PS3 so you can figure from that, the issue is on your end.

BD Rebuilder is not a Decrypter you will need to use AnyDvd or DVDFab6 to first rip the movie to the HD and then use BD Rebuilder to compress the unecrypted movie

Edit Just seen you used AnyDvd Hd are you ripping the movie to HD first and then processing with BF Rebuilder

Yes, I'm using AnyDVD HD. I load the Bluray, start AnyDVD, and then use "Rip Video DVD to Harddisk...". After it finished... I start BD-Rebuilder and choose the Main Folder as the source and I get the error.

I've also tried selecting the BDMV folder and the STREAM folder, but I get the same error.

I've also tried loading AnyDVD and then manually copying the DVD with Windows Explorer. Nothing seems to work.

So... am I just seriously unlucky? Do I need to do something specific?

Personally I start AnyDVD and choose "Rip to Image". This creates an ISO which I then mount with Virtual Clone Drive (free from Slysoft). I then start BDRB and point it at this virtual drive.

I have never yet had a problem...

Perhaps try using this method instead ("rip to image", instead of "rip video DVD") and see what happens?

Fork.

Didn't know if it was Region A. I'll pick up Silverado and see how it sizes on my Win7 systems.

I just wanted to let you know not to bother testing Silverado. After I updated FFDSHOW to the version linked in your first post, I was able to backup the movie successfully. I am now trying LA Confidential which is VC-1 to see if that works now.
I am very happy to have BD-Rebuilder back and working!

@jdobbs;
has your short term experience with Windows 7 been one that you would recommend it for us BD-RB users?
It would appear pretty risky at this time, but it sounds like results are mixed, with you reporting mostly success.
I really don't think I will be upgrading soon, and have been having only successful results with XP Pro.
Perhaps, for me any how, this new OS needs to have more time testing it before I jump in. :)

Perhaps, for me any how, this new OS needs to have more time testing it before I jump in. :) I think that if you just do a standard install and then run BD-RB (so it can configure DirectShow) you will be fine. It's likely the people who did manual configs that are having issues. Mine works fine. As for whether it is worth the upgrade -- probably not. I didn't think Vista was much of an improvement over XP, and this seems to just be a minor upgrade to Vista from what I see. I did it mainly so i could test BD-RB with it.

Hi!I've ripped 2 BDs - Kung Fu Hustle and Fight Club (Both from Taiwan)

1) Are you certain that these are commercial Blue Ray discs? Or could they be Chinese AVCHD discs? Or could they be bootleg discs?

2) Are you able to play the purchased discs?

3) What is the total filesize of each of the discs, according to Explorer?

Hi!

1) Are you certain that these are commercial Blue Ray discs? Or could they be Chinese AVCHD discs? Or could they be bootleg discs?

No idea. How do I tell? These were purchased from a Blockbuster, so I'm pretty sure they are legit Bluray discs.

2) Are you able to play the purchased discs?

Yes, I can play them on my Sony s360. They also work fine with MPC-HC on Win7 x64

3) What is the total filesize of each of the discs, according to Explorer?

Kung Fu Hustle is 22.7 GB (24,447,283,200). I deleted Fight Club from my computer for now.

Anyway, I think it might be a bigger problem between BD-Rebuilder and Win7 x64. I have downloaded the HDMV demo from here:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=948496

It's supposed to be an accurate representation of a Bluray Disc for demo purposes. I get the same exact error with that:

11/22/09 [13:45:14] SourceCheck() 00006 2501

So, it doesn't appear to be something between my discs. It seems as if there is something wrong with either my Win7 x64 (it's a legit copy - I have a technet sub) or BD-Rebuilder on my system.

jdobbs, is there any file I can post or email you to help you troubleshoot this bug?

Thanks.

source path problem

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is a very annoying problem that for non-unicode language such as Chinese, the source path is invalid. We must set the non-unicode programing language to English in the "control center/language and region/advanced" and reboot in order to use BDRB. Otherwise, an error message (source check 00006) telling you the selected source is not BD format keeps on forever. Anyone knows any workaround other than doing the language setting? Because after setting the language to English, all other programs may have invalid path and the language should be re-set back to English and reboot again. Thanks in advance.

PS: Clown_BD_v0.40b.exe and CLIPINF_Editor_v0.02b.exe do not have the same problem for source path.

This may have been asked and answered, but is there anyway this program can compress everything but the main movie, and leave the main movie un-encoded...?

If someone can confirm that the Oppo cannot play back --weightp 2 correctly, I have direct contact with the owner of the company and I can get this fixed ;)

Just some feedback. I can confirm that build 1342 causes pixelization on the OPPO BDP-83.I have tested a disk this weekend (DVD-9 Movie Only).It does not affect the PS3. I also tested with build 1310 and it was fine on the OPPO. So, Dark Shikari it would be great if you could report it to OPPO.

Many Thanks.

I have two Sony standalones -- and this happens on neither of them. Can you give me a specific disc (region A) that has this problem?

I tried to backup Death Race ( USA ) to a BD-9 at the high quality setting. I tried this movie twice, once with the option "Limit to one track for each language" checked and once with it unchecked.

The copy plays nicely on a Sony S360 standalone, however the audio is only working on the theatrical version. There is an Unrated version on this title but the audio is missing on my DVD-9. I left the INI file unchanged. I am using version 0.31.02 beta. I ripped the whole disc as an .ISO via a trial version of ANYDVDHD 6.6.0.3 and mounted the iso via Daemon tools and pointed BD Rebuilder to the mounted .iso.

Has anyone had this issue with this title or a similar title with 2 versions of the film ?

In the file HIDDENOPTS.TXT i see the following :

PROCESS_SECONDARY=n n = 0/1 - if set to 0, BD-RB will not process secondary audio/video on full backup

When i open the BDREBUILDER.INI i see no option for "PROCESS_SECONDARY" to change it from 0 to 1 .
I also tried and add that to the BDREBUILDER.INI and set it to ( PROCESS_SECONDARY=1 ) and save it and then reopen
the program and i still have a RED X next to AUD_02 (2nd) DTS-HD, Stero, English. When i double click on all the other
audio streams they toggle on and off indicated by the red X but that is not the case with AUD_02 (2nd) DTS-HD, Stero, English

Thank You

I do not know how to upload a sample. Anyway I will make a sample in "Strict AVCHD" mode tonight and try to upload it tomorrow morning. I have tested this on USB and Disk with the same results (pixilization). Basically whatever content or disk (Blu-Ray) I encode using BD-RB and x264 build 1342 always produces the same results on the OPPO (pixilization).

Thanks.

Thanks.Upload a clip to Mediafire/Megaupload or similar.

(The main issue being that I don't own a Blu-ray drive, so I can't use BD-RB to re-encode something; I'd like to give them something which is in valid Blu-ray format.)

@Phe0nix

Hi!

Since you are trying to do a full disc copy to a DVD9/BD9, I think your problem is simply one of insufficient space for the audio. I say this because, according to my records, I made a perfectly good movie-only DVD9/BD9 backup of the extended version, using .AC3...

Thanks for the tip. Weightp set to 1 also produces the artifacts on the OPPO. The only time it does not produce artifacts is when I set weightp to 0 (disabled).

Please find the uploads below:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/ubo4iw - clip with artifacts (x264 build 1342).

http://www.sendspace.com/file/y3q56z - original clip, which was cut using tsMuxeR 1.10.6.

Unzip the clips, copy to USB and select AVCHD under the relevent directory to play.

Just one question from my side. For future encodes should I use 1342 with weightp set to 0 or even the new 1347 until OPPO fixes the problem? Is there such a significant / fisual improvement over 1310? Or should I just stick to 1310 or 1318 (which was the last version before weightp)?

Thanks.

Hi,

I have the same problem with the Blu-ray Philips 7300. Many artifacts for blu-ray to DB9.

Problem solve by passing the WEIGHTP 0.

Thank you for your very good software jdobbs.:thanks:

Do the artifacts only show up after you seek, or also when you just play the file from the beginning? If it's the former there is an explanation here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=150960).

I just viewed both clips with MPC, and I don't see any artifacts, and I realize my aging eyes are not the best.
There does appear to be some audio async on the non original, but visually, seems acceptable. :confused:

Secondary audio in DTS cannot currently be processed -- because there is no way to demux/mux them.

Is there a reason why some discs use AC3 for the secondary audio and others DTS-Express (or are the ac3 just outside spec)?
Given that DTS-Express can be demuxed and re-encoded to ac3, is there something in the manipulation of the flags which would stop an ac3 secondary audio stream being substituted? You are able to change the main audio streams from HD to ac3 so it would seem feasible.

The encode couldn't be standard AC3, secondary audio is required to be Dolby Digital Plus or DTS Express -- and I'm not aware of a DD+ freeware encoder. Right now I can keep DD+ intact because TSMUXER can demux it, but I can't reencode it.

OK - It's eac3to that can handle it. I did a test but didn't realise it needed to be ac3+ and just converted it to an ac3 file.
