Just throwing in my agreement that in Windows 10 I am getting the same error as drmih and worknstiff. I have not found a magic setting change to get things working again. Every time I hit Backup or Batch Backup, "DoEncoding() 00009 1501" pops up instantly.
I was trying to make Alternate movie only backups of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts 1 & 2 for playback on Ipad. Changed settings to full backup, DVD5, DVD9, etc... No dice.
Just FYI

Just FYIHmm... I've tested it on Windows 10 with no issues. Could you post your settings so I can test with them?
[Edit] What version of BD-RB are you using? If it's the latest, have you tried it with an older version?

jdobbs,
The problem started out with the previous version from May, and then I updated to the new version yesterday to see if that would help but had the same problem.
Here is my Inspect result...

@ jdobbs; RE: INSPECT results are good to know... but I need your settings to test it.
I have run the Close Encounters 3rd Kind 30th Anniversary Ed. and it fails using v0.50.07 and will run using v.0.50.03. It throws up the 1501 error on my Win10 (x64) and also shows the same problem using Win7 (x64). Works on .03 NOT .07.

@ Capsbackup; RE: Could this be the problem?
Good catch Caps, but alas it doesn't make any difference when the encoding extraction doesn't even begin before it fails. I was using the Win10 computer for something else when jdobbs asked about using v0.50.08 and just jumped on my Win7 pc to test it and it looks like I need to do some housekeeping to clear out some junk. Here is the v0.50.08 log from my Win10 computer with lots of space in the Working dir.

Did you have FFDSHOW installed on the new system? It really should matter which you've chosen (FFDSHOW or LAV Filters). It's possible, though, that even if you had it installed some other software intercepted the functioning of FFDSHOW and caused it to stop working. You see that often with codec packs being installed.
I just remembered, though, that the internal CODECs in MPC wouldn't apply because AVISYNTH would be encountered first and it would do the decoding (via LAV Filters or FFDSHOW).
Yes I had ffdshow installed on the new system and no codec packs installed.

So changing to BD-5 and then back to BD-25 fixed it? That's weird. That error (#00009) means there is a subscript into an array that is out-of-range. It is happening in the routine that calls the encoder (1501). I'll look through the code and see if I can find anything that correlates to changing the output size.
Just to try and help with what I know:
It was working fine at 50.07 (and had been for weeks [on Windows 10]) and Windows then updated something and asked to reboot:
Following the reboot it wouldn't work on any discs, even those done successfully the day before (I tried another couple of reboots but the same):
The program gives the error as soon as the start button is pressed:
I reinstalled all of the programs on the first page - no change:
I updated to 50.08 - no change:
I renamed the bd-rebuilder directory and put a clean version on - no change:
I went back to the original one and tried a different size setting (after someone said that movie only worked for them) - worked (however, it is possible that the last step was just a combination of things)

I know how in settings to do on or the other, but not sure how to include both.

Exactly. LAV also supports H.265, and FFDSHOW doesn't. In addition, using FFDSHOW adds the requirement for the HAALI splitter.
I recommend LAV for use with BD-RB.
I've always only used LAV...

Ummm... maybe I'm missing something, but ANYONE can send money to ANYONE by way of PayPal...
(and YES, I think they are @**holes for treating you that way - as if you needed THAT too...)
Soooo, isn't it just a simple matter of letting us know the personal e'mail to use, such as 'JDobbs@Gmail.com' for example...? I don't see why anybody cannot just simply send money to another person. Forget 'BDRB' or the 'business', just choose a generic e'mail mate, and let us know! It's up to us if we wish to send money to a fellow so that he can water his plants, feed his family, buy some booze... oops, shoulda stopped there... :o

To those who are getting the "DoEncoding() 00009 1501" error... I've been able to repeat it (thanks to the settings that worknstiff provided -- I couldn't create it with my settings). It isn't related to Windows 10, as I can cause it on a Win7 system. I should have a fix out pretty soon. Right now I'm tracing it to see what is the primary cause.

@ jdobbs; RE: I couldn't create it with my settings.
It's a really weird problem since it doesn't happen with all movies. I thought there for a while that it had to do with too many .m2ts files and then I ran it on one with 127 pieces and it still worked. Happy hunting tracking it down, but I'm sure you can find it if anyone can. thanks

Interesting that the change causing the issue came out in May, but this month is the first reports I've seen.

I have updated the first post of this thread with a link to the latest version of BD-RB (v0.50.09). Changes for this release:- Corrected an issue that could cause BD-RB to
stop with a "DoEncoding() 00009 1501" error
message.
- Added a new SETUP option for enabling the
use of TESSERACT OCR in converting subtitles
from PGS (BD format) to SRT (MKV text subs).
This is useful in players that don't support
PGS playback. Note: You must have TESSERACT
installed on your computer for this to work,
each PGS conversion takes about 10 min, and
SRT files may sometimes need minor editing.
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.
Tesseract OCR installation notes:
If you do not have TESSERACT installed on
your system, a zip file containing TESSERACT
with modules included for English, Spanish,
French, German, and Italian can be downloaded
from this link:
www.jdobbs.net/Freeware/tesseract.zip
It is fairly large, so it was decided not to
include it in the default BD-RB package. Just
unzip it into the BD-RB Tools folder. It will
create a folder called "Tesseract" there.
Modules for support of other languages can
be found at this link:
code.google.com/p/tesseract-ocr/downloads
They can be extracted into the folder created
by the above unzip called tesseract/tessdata.
Please also note that while tesseract is very
accurate with BD subtitles -- it can sometimes
produce erroneous text with imported DVD
subtitles due to the poor original resolution.

I've got 1 word for you after reading that tesseract stuff.
NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
i'll defo be trying it out on movies to go with my chromecast
1 tiny question about the additional language. i added the nld one. Does that help it with recognising nld subs and turning them into srt or are those things for something else. What i read from the homepage, is that its a cli program only

Yep, the server was frozen. Sorry for the inconvenience. It should be working now.
Ok.
And thanks for the new version!!!

1 tiny question about the additional language. i added the nld one. Does that help it with recognising nld subs and turning them into srt or are those things for something else. What i read from the homepage, is that its a cli program onlyYes. The CLI program is actually called by BD-RB in doing the PGS to text conversion. The downloaded packages are specifically used for better conversion of PGS into languages that aren't a part of the default package. If installed properly you should see (in your case) some files starting with "nld." in the tesseract\tessdata folder. I've only tested a few languages -- but I can tell you it works very well for English OCR conversion to SRT.
Right now it is only working for MKV conversions. In a future release I should be able to include SRTs in MP4 as well -- but I was experiencing a lot of issues trying to get MP4BOX to recognize the SRT files. So I just put it off for a while.

There's only 1 file in that nld lang file I downloaded, that's the training data. Nothing else.
** edit ** I would be happy to test version for mp4 srt support because Chromecast does not support mkv. For info: this link will tell you ask supported codec info.
Could you pm me a profile to use for alternate movie-only output tailored towards it? Currently using generic mp4 but there way be a more efficient one. Although I know mp4 does not support subtitles unless hardcoded, the casting app I use (localcast) does allow casting of mp4 and loads subtitles.
Now back on topic.

I did a quick test here but the words with graphical accentuation are not recognized properly.
And in my language(portuguese), there are many! What a pity...:(

Suggestion?
I read above about the donation issue, every time I click it the PayPal account has an error...sucks..
Anyway... I do 3 encodes when I do my movies for different devices....media player 1080...then 720 portables/etc.
If doing the same movie can you make it to where it uses the same extracted work files to produce the files. I do a batch encode and each time its "extracting"....etc.... this would save tons of time and probably allow my BD drive to survive even longer..lol.. (of course I could just rip it ;). also in naming the files could append _1080 or 720, etc...instead of writing over them.
anyway awesome program...

i double checked the downloaded zipfile and it does indeed only contain "nld.traineddata" while others have xxx.cube.word-freq, xxx.cube.size, xxx.cube.params etc. I dont know if this is normal or the language pack is incomplete. Dutch language data for Tesseract 3.02 is only 1.1MB, vs English language data for Tesseract 3.02 being a whopping 12MB

Did you use the Portuguese data module?
Yes, but compared to other languages this package appears to be incomplete because it contains only the .traineddata file.
It gives the impression of lacking a specific module for the accentuation because words without accents are recognized correctly.

@soneca: exactly the same thing I'm seeing with the nld language. English is just over 12mb, nld is barely over 1mb containing just the traineddata.

"Yay!", It's working perfectly with all my machines now and with all movies. Yay! Thanks! for the quick fix and I'll be trying out the TESSERACT option too.

Thats great to hear. I do still wonder why there's such a size difference in the tesseract language file.
ps: until you get it perfected, could you help me out with what i posted after ** edit ** in a few post above? http://forum.doom9.org/showpost.php?p=1740803&postcount=23185

You mention a link -- but don't have one linked in the post. But my guess would be that standard MP4 output is the best choice.

I have updated the first post of this thread with a link to the most recent version of BD-RB (v0.50.10). Changes for this release:- Corrected an issue that could cause BD-RB to
stop with a "DoEncoding() 00009 1501" error
- Updated code so tesseract created SRT files
can also be used with ALTERNATE output to the
standard MP4 preset and the "iPad 2+/iPhone
4s+" preset. [v0.50.10]
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

AFAIK the only way mp4 supports subs is hardcoded, that does not exclude players naturally of loading a matching srt files.

now i don't know if i did something wrong with bdrb 50.09 but i chose alternate movie only output > standard mp4 > the mp4 was generated but no srt nor hardcoded
does 50.10 include mp4 srt subtitle generating?
