This bug is called "The Case Of The Missing Menu Text". But I don't think it's really a bug!

Now I know how jdobbs feels! Just when you think you have it all figured out, you DON'T.

I try to "repair" my Elton & Dave, thinking that all I'd have to do is "rebuild" & "substitute" the complete menu video file. I open the original Elton with BD-RB, but there's NO subtitles shown! BDInfo shows "Interactive Graphic Streams", so they must be there. I then go to the STREAMS folder & open the menu video m2ts with tsM. That gives an "Unsupported Format" warning that says "Some Tracks Not Recognized.", you click OK and tsM shows only video & audio streams "available", NO SUBTITLES!

So, my uneducated guess is, when that menu video gets demuxed & recoded, the IGS gets "lost" ('cause it can't be found) & it doesn't make it to the rebuild.

The only "easy fix" I can see is to set the "don't recode" limit bigger than the menu vids. This one happens to be 550MB. BUT, you wont know if you have a problem until you've done the first rebuild......., unless jdobbs can see a workaround for the "hidden subs"!

============================

I just replaced the first, rebuilt video menu on Elton (there's 7 total) with the original .m2ts & the .clpi & now that menu functions which allows you to hit "Play" & start the disc! BUT, if you hit "song selections" on that menu, it kicks you to another menu video that doesn't have subs, so you'd be stuck there.

There you go! It's got nothing to do with LPCM, it's "missing IGS".

Trying to back up Walk Hard in Movie Only mode to DL-DVD. I am getting this error:

I think the file name of that AC3 file is too long.

Q: What does Verbose status reporting do?

WTF!!!

I did this movie (Walk Hard) recently to BD9 (DL DVD) with no problem. I used the Movie Only mode.

Verbose reporting gives a line by line activity report in the log. I find it very useful in letting me know whats going on.

Did you do 90min or 2 hour extended version?

I'm trying to do 2 hour extended version.

I'm having problems with Tomb Raider 1 Region B

VID_00006.AVS.264 is not present, only:

- VID_00006.AVS
- VID_00006.AVS.MKV
- VID_00006.AVS.MKV.stats

The main movie is:
VID_00004.AVS.264 and this was created properly and completely together with the two sound streams.

Muxing video + audio streams woorked fine via tsmuxer, so the goal was achieved: a movie only backup but i have no idea why bd rebuilder got stuck with two different versions and slightly different settings:
1pass with version 0.28.03 and 2 passes with 0.29.04 Can you post the settings from the INI. The value of MKV_INTERMEDIATE determines whether .264 or .MKV is used. If you start, stop, change the setting, and resume it could cause this kind of issue.

@Race Guy

It's funny that you mention the sub-less menus... when I did my copy of Braveheart, it behaved the same. Since I'm using PowerDVD9 on my encoding system--and I'm accoustomed to stupid bugs in that program--I burned it anyway. Playing it back on my HTPC (which uses TotalMedia Theatre 3), the options show up and work just fine. In my case, the subs weren't missing... but I thought it was pretty strange hearing someone report that their menu buttons were gone.

In PowerDVD, it was only the subs that were gone. If I stabbed around with my arrow keys, I could get the movie to play, call up a setup menu (which, oddly enough, had the text for the options), or play the timeline feature. So the buttons themselves were there, hidden. And for TotalMedia to play it back flawlessly, the subs had to have been physically present on the project... I guess just not in the manner PowerDVD expected. The source disk works fine on either player, as does the rip (verified by using an external hard drive). Strange.

Wow! So pretty much the same behavior I got out of PDVD9, with a PS3? That's something to raise an eyebrow at--I figured it was just another PDVD quirk. I wonder how set top boxes are faring.

yeah man, in fact, the foo fighters bluray was the 1st backup i made! and burnt it 3 times, on bd-r and never worked! i thought i was doing something wrong, cause always had the same behaviour on the ps3 but was working ok on TMT3, so i give it a try to batman and worked perfect on the ps3! as all my movies! but those blurays (foo fighters and elthon john) only worked on TMT3 but were missing the text on the menu when were played on the ps3

1.
i did NOT interrupt the process but tried to restart/resume it, when i saw it failed.

after realizing that resuming failed just like the prvious run i started from scratch and instead of using 1 pass (resulted in 1gb oversized main movie) i used normal two passes

2.
here is an INI file content i found refering to tomb raider and then there is the INF file:

I've corrected it for the next release. Luckily there aren't very many discs out there that need it.

Hi. Same problem (?) here with Dexter Season 2. (pic) (http://img38.imageshack.us/i/dexterx.jpg/)
BD_RB did not backup the disc correctly with v0.29.04, high speed bd25.
But will Capsbackup option work in v0.29.04? (editing and saving the meta file inside the Workfiles folder)
I don't know how to run it from a command line...

First problem for me with bd_rb. Great program. Thanks for your time & effort. Much appreciated.

I re-installed latest ffdshow_rev2661_20090207_clsid, latest Haali app and Avisynth_257 and i kee getting the same error. I have used this app from the beginning and i've never had problems until this version of BD Rebuilder. Any suggestions? I would really appreciate the help. Thanks. This has to be something peculiar about this disc. Nothing has changed related to that routine in quite some time.

Normally that error occurs when there is some inconsistency between video & audio timing ("no sync"). So BD-RB looks for it, and attempts to demux the video and audio independently. It looks like in your case that demuxing the video alone still causes the error. That's why the error is logged twice.

Is there secondary video on that M2TS?

im doing full backup to bd25 Do a demux with TSMUXER and then add up all the audio and sub files... see what they come to.

I'll look at this. It might be that there is a small intro or exit M2TS associated with the main-movie that is field-based interlaced (so it gets converted for encoding). Does 00006 show up on the streams list with "**" next to its framerate?

Sorry if this was covered I tried search and most of the PiP stuff was for BD9/5. I just did a backup of Forgetting Sarah Marshall Full Disc BD25. Set it to encode the secondary tracks - Was that the wrong settings or does the Universal U-Control not work with the backup? Just wondering b/c when I tried to set U-Control PiP the audio for the movie goes low and nothing happens.

Thanks guys! If it is DTS secondary audio there is still no way to include it, because TSMUXER won't process it. So it's just "left out" for now.

yes, i was doing movie only

will check TR1 in BD Rebuilder later on - have a conversion running right now

i had a look at the original files and 00006 is a 4 sec m2ts file with nothing but black content and 216kb in size

Sorry I guess I didn't give all the info either. What happens is the volume lowers, i have the U Control icon with PiP and Visual Commentary. When i select either the volume lowers and no PiP video is displayed. I'll double check with the retail later tonight and compare to be sure.
This is a Universal release.

I think the file name of that AC3 file is too long.

Q: What does Verbose status reporting do?

BTW, I'm using Vista 64bit.

Is it possible you lack enough free space on the HDD to create the workfiles folder... or that the path is wrong?

Does 00006 show up on the streams list with "**" next to its framerate?

No - c.f. attached screenshot

+++++

there is one other thing i realized only recently and which i cannot properly describe so i think captured images may help a bit:

i have attached two images from DIE HARD 2

the ENCODED material shows something like a 1pixel (or so) white line at the top and the bottom whenever the neighboring areas is bright as well - this cannot be seen when the picture is dark/black

the original material is not affected - see last attached picture

this happened to the movie only version of tomb raider also but not other titles which were also done with the same bd rb version as of lately (fast and furious 4)

I checked for that. There was about 50GB of free space and I selected the paths right before starting the project.

That file name alone is 262 characters long and I think you are allowed 255 characters WITH the paths.

I must have misunderstood. I though all that happened was a lowering of the volume on the primary audio track.

This could be normal, since most, if not all discs with U Control use DTS Express secondary audio, and the main audio track's volume would lower when the secondary audio track is played. But since there would not be any secondary audio, and the main audio track does not know this, it lowers for the secondary audio to be heard.
Probably not a bug, just working as it should because it's expecting secondary audio.

@jdobbs;
Trying a full movie backup to BD-25 of Pirates of the Caribbean 3, At World's End. I notice there is a -12ms audio delay for the three AC3 audio tracks, but a 0ms delay for the LPCM track. Though this delay amount would probably not be noticeable, there appears to be a problem with tsMuxeR remuxing a negative audio delay.( Or at least a -12ms delay for this disc)
I tried a remux from the command line and from the GUI, and both times tsMuxeR puts a 20ms delay instead of a -12ms delay.
Just wanted to bring this to your attention, and maybe you can run your own test on negative delays on remux, since this could affect your implementing audio delay corrections. :)

I got a problem with a movie codec VC-1: impossible to encode it with BD Rebuilder; error message as reencoding failed, error X.264.
I don't understand; I have WMV 11 installed on my computer and VC-1 codec is desabled in ffdshow.
What is wrong?

I figured as much. I just need to double check the disk. I should have looked at the audio type first. Other PiP disks played the Video PiP with no audio thats why i was asking as this one there is no video playing as well.

Thanks for the insight! :)

Windows 7 by any chance?

If so, read the thread. This is getting repetative.

Also, if it is Windows 7, please note this statement in the first post of this thread:

BD Rebuilder has NOT BEEN MODIFIED/TESTED FOR USE ON WINDOWS 7. If you run into issues with Windows 7, please don't post bug reports. It will be updated, but not until the final version of Windows 7 is released in October 2009.

Frankly this VC-1 under Windows 7 discussion is getting annoying and has taken up way too much space in this thread (over and over and over and over). There is a solution, and it has been posted in this thread and other threads at least 20 times.

@Jdobbs

Not sure if the PiP is a bug with Forgetting Sarah Marsharll - There are 2 Secondary Audio and 2 Secondary Video, the audio is AC3+ not DTS Express.

There is no PiP audio or video when i use the U Control.

If you need more info please let me know.

Excuse me but I don't use Windows 7 but Windows XP; I am leaving in Belgium and some users of your BD REbuilder have the same problem with codec VC-1 and try to find a solution. That is why I have posted on this forum.

jdobbs:

regarding the timeshift issue, I was wondering if other than the m2ts file itself, is there any other reference to the audio delay on the blu-ray disc structure? (maybe in the playlist? clipinf? something?)

Or the player knows how to properly play the file just by looking at the m2ts?

Thanks.

Thanks. Yes. The player would look at the M2TS for timing information. There wouldn't be any information to that level of detail in the CLPI or MPLS. They mainly link to points of entry in the M2TS (like FF/REW and chapter points).

Thank you for your support:thanks: The only other possibility is if you (or others) have installed "codec packs" that reset the defaults for playback... that has been a consistent problem as well.

I am using FFDSHOW rev 2661 (as requested by Jdobbs on page 1) and VC-1 is disabled as also requested by Jdobbs. The two other choices I have are: libavcodec and wmv9.
So do you mean I must try libavcodec or wmv9 (even wmv11 is installed on my laptop)?

To Jdobbs: I don't have any "codec packs" installed; What I have is: FFDshow rev 2661, Matroska Splitter and Avisynth 2.57

Hello,

I'm trying to reencode a Movie with DTS-HD to a BD9.
My problem is that BD-Rebuilder always reencodes DTS-HD to AC3.
I activated the option: Do no convert DTS to AC3.
When I look into the workfiles directory it also extracted the core from the DTS-HD Track, but after reencoding is done it always makes an AC3 Audio.
I want a BD9 with DTS Core not with AC3, why doesn't it work?
Bd-Rebuilder has no problem with the secondary audio track in the M2ts which is only DTS (NOT HD). This track will not be reencoded.
I'm using the latest version.

An other problem is that the BD9 is always undersized, only 7,45GB. Which means ~0,5gb is is free on my DVD9 Media.

Now I'm only guessing b/c i dont know what movie your re-encoding but HD audio is generally pretty big, so BD Rebuilder is probably re-encoding it b/c there would be no room on the BD9 for the video if it kept the DTS-HD MA.
