This was asked over at MyCE and I didn't have an answer for them. Is it possible to make a half SBS 3D MKV file using BD Rebuilder and H264? There is an option for this using HEVC, but he wasn't sure Plex could handle this type of file.Sure you can. Here's an example of an ALTERNATE preset you could add:

[000nn]
caption=MKV Container, Half-SBS (3D), Intact Audio
vBitrate=4000
aType=2
vFormat=5
cType=1

The [00nn] would be set to whatever entry is the next one available in ALTERNATE.TXT. This one assumes the input is 3D at 1920x1080. It also keeps the audio intact, but you could easily convert the audio to AAC with automatic bitrate by using these values instead:

[000nn]
caption=MKV Container, Half-SBS (3D), Auto AAC
vBitrate=4000
aType=1
aBitrate=*
vFormat=5
cType=1

If the video bitrate (vBitrate) isn't high enough (4Mbs) you could change it -- but I normally use CRF for MKV encodes, anyway, so it wouldn't apply.

This assumes you have a monitor that allows you to manually assert 3D mode (most 3D TVs do).

Thank you for the answers. I'll point him to this thread. I've also advised him to join the doom9 forum so he can discuss any issues directly.

Hello ... to see if you can help me
I want to encode a full bluray bd-25 with the following characteristics:

The main movie has a size of 21 GB
The extras having a size of to 5 gigabytes
a total of 26 GB.

I want to know if there is any command that can add to the config file so that the main movie will not be encoded, and only extras are encoded.
example:

The main movie unencoded 21 GB
The extras encoded 2 GB
A total of 23 GB.

This is possible?
as it would have to do this?

thanks in advance

It's not currently possible (at least not without a lot of manual intervention).

I what I do when I want to do that is to put full-disk, then remove the film and put in out what I want to weigh the extras, i.e. 3 gigabytes, then on the original drive I'm replacing the M2TS created the Extras by the original.

Here is an alternate approach. It entails burning 2 - 25gb BD-R media, but I find media pretty inexpensive these days.

1. Create a movie only BD with zero added compression (use "Custom Target Size" to use a size that fits on a BD-R without reincoding).
2. Create a "Full-BackUp" BD of the same title, but use "Edit Mode" to delete the main movie. This disc/title should contain all your extras with the menu, but no movie.

Be sure to test playback off your hard drive before burning to be sure all works as intended.

I linked my miniguide in a PM to max4. He should have the info he needs on doing it manually. Anyone else interested, PM me, this isn't a bug report it is a feature request.

@Rich86 - An automated alternative is a BD25 movie-only and a BD5 of the bonus features. You lose the original menus, but the quick menus from BDRB I find to be better than what a lot of commercial discs have.

I had been using Alt Movie Only, MKV, 1920x1080, Intact Audio, and select target size.

A month or two ago I switched to using CRF 20 instead of target size.

The last few movies I've done are now a lower "over all bit rate" and of course, smaller files sizes.

Has anyone else seen this, or is it just me?

EDIT: This appears to be self inflicted.. Settings -> Encoder Settings... was set as "Good(Very Fast)" and "One Pass (ABR) Encoding"... where as before I had it.. "Automatic Quality Settings"

I'm not sure when I changed it, but setting it back to Automatic fixed it.

I use a CRF of 23 for my MKV encodes. I've seen nothing getting smaller at all. My guess is that the last few you've done just have a lower complexity and need less bitrate.

Or... very similar, but you COULD simply keep the menus for both discs for what is suggested above on each disc and delete each from the opposing disc. On the Blu-ray for the movie only, delete the extras, and for the BD-5 with the extras, delete the movie :)

This will only work if you burn the extras to a BD-R. If the extras are to be burned to DVD media, reencoding will be necessary to reduce the bitrate to be AVCHD compliant!

To me personally, just re encoding the extras for DVD wouldn't really seem like that big of a deal, but you are quite right!

Can you please let me know if BDRB keeps the subtitles in the reduced size file? When I try to use GRABIT for an apple tv file I cannot find the subititles in the file when I import it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Any help would be greatly appreciated. ThanksI need a better description. It keeps if for anything except an MP4 (which doesn't support PGS subtitles). For an MKV you have make sure MKV_MUXSUPS has not been set to "0" -- the default is "1", however (see HIDDENOPTS.TXT).

I encountered an audio-video sync issue when doing a movie Movie rebuild of the Dead Snow 2 bluray. I'm not sure if it is a BD-Rebuilder bug or an issue with how the disk was authored. When selecting a movie only rebuild of the english language version of the movie, two titles are included in the playlist. The first is a short studio logo clip and the second is the main title. The audio and subtitles are attached to the main title. After starting the rebuild, the audio and subtitles are extracted and the intro clip is reencoded. When BD-Rebuilder attempts to convert the audio from DTS to AC3the rebuild fails. If settings are changed to retain the original DTS audio, the rebuild will complete. However, the audio is significanly out-of-sync with the video.

When I later found that the sync issue does not occur on a full rebuild of the disk, I took a closer look at the audio and video files extracted during the movie only rebuild. The audio duration is only long enough to cover the length of the main title. When all the pieces are put back together, the audio starts to play at the start of the intro clip instead of being delayed to the point where the main title starts. The amount that the audio is out-of-sync through the rest of the movie matches the length of the intro clip.

While it is illegal by the standard to have to two streams in a playlist that don't have exactly the same audio characteristics -- it's possible to force it if your authoring software has a way, making it a protection mechanism of sorts. I'll see if I can find that title and see if that's the case.

Let me know if there is anything I can provide that would help you determine this so that you don't have to buy the disk if you don't want to. I enjoyed the film for what it was. But it definitely isn't a movie that has mainstream appeal.

I seem to remember having the same issue with the bluray for the original "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo". There was a short "Yellowbird" production studio clip up front of the movie that resulted in the audio and subtitles being out of sync with the main title. I didn't bother reporting the problem at the time as things weren't out of sync enough that they bothered me. That was a few years ago. I'll try to dig that disk out of storage to see if it does the same thing with the latest version of BDRebuilder.

Is it possible to rebuild a full Bluray as Quick Play, but split the resulting files for FAT32 systems?

I looked through the options and settings, but couldn't find any that might suit, except for the strict AVCHD setting, however that was only for BD5 or BD9.

ClownBD has a useful option (AVCHD for PS3), such that it automatically splits the m2ts files into contiguous 3.72GB pieces and creates a playlist with the component files so that they play uninterrupted. Unfortunately it only handles movie-only processing and I want the same thing but for all valid playlists.

I am running BDR in the recommended LAV only mode and am still getting repeated issues with playback. My preferred output is MKV, CRF=18. intact audio. Playing back the output file starts OK with no sync issues. If I use the browse bar on the player (Zoom Player) to jump to a specific time or use a chapter skip the playback stalls and in most cases the player crashes. I used to have this problem before but this was when I had FFDShow and Matroska installed. Going with LAV only seemed to cure the problem but now its back.

I have tried the obvious experiments such as using alternative soft players, alternative output file type (mp4 / full intact) etc but the problem will not go away. Its extremely frustrating!

Inspect yiields the following which seems correct for LAV only setup?

- Windows Version: 6.1 [7601]
- AVISYNTH Version: [2.5.8.0], Ok
- HAALI Splitter: Not installed
- FFDSHOW doesn't appear to be installed

What are you using to install them? They aren't showing as installed in the system registry. Use the link on the first page of this thread for installation.

If it is installed correctly you will see "- LAVFILTERS: Ok" in INSPECT, and none of the FFDSHOW settings will be checked.

Hi jdobbs,
I'm using the install link supplied on this forum link, v0.63. What's really bizzare is I have run successful backups on another PC with the exact same source, exact same setup (LAV only) and exact same output settings and the mkv output file plays perfectly on any machine on my LAN. AND the INSPECT output does NOT show any reading on LAV filters as you state above. Here is the INSPECT output on the PC producing a correctly playing output -

- BD-RB v0.50.0.2, not current

and yet HKEY_CURRENT_USER in the registry clearly shows a LAV entry. What the hell????

Nope.Just LAV. And I use WIN7DSFilter Tweaker to se LAV as default for all file types. What's so annoying is I sorted this issue before by removing all unecessary codecs and sticking with LAV only. Suddenly the problem has come back and i'm out of ideas troubleshooting the issue. Short of an OS reinstall I don't see what I can try next? :rolleyes:

You have to use the INSPECT under the Help menu and NOT the stand alone INSPECT program.

Hello,

since version 0.50.0.2 alternate output doesn't work for me. I tried to encode mp4-1280*720-acc by setting 2 pass encoding with a fixed size (third option). When I start encoding a pop up appears telling me that the audio is too big to fit into the fixed size and suggests crf. The same happens if i choose the 2 pass encoding with fixed bitrate (second option).

In the moment I use version 0.50.01 for alternate encoding.

additionally if i tried to upscale an imported dvd and encode it to mp4-1280*720-acc a pop up appears telling me about an h.264 error. Is it possible that's because the imported format is interlaced?

Having an issue with BD Rebuilder v0.50.02 it think?
I rip my own disc of The Equalizer using DVDFab 9.1.7.1
I will start by saying when I installed BD v0.50.02 id said my set up was not correct and it could correct it. So I let it?
Now running Inspect shows this:

- Windows Version: 6.1 [7601]
- AVISYNTH Version: 2.5.8.0, not recommended version
- HAALI Splitter: Ok
- FFDSHOW: 4504, not recommended version
- WIN7 preferred AVC CODEC: Ok
- WIN7 preferred VC-1 CODEC: Ok
- WIN7 preferred MPEG2 CODEC: Ok
- FFDSHOW VC-1 set to "wmv9", Ok
- FFDSHOW MPEG2 set to "libavcodec": Ok
- FFDSHOW AVC set to "libavcodec": Ok
- BD-RB vUNKNOWN, not current

I haven't even gone into my issue yet

Just trying to get my set up correct ?
What AVISYNTH version is recommended?
And what about FFDshow ?
And I don't remember BD version ever showing as unknown and not current?

All my issue just might be do to the above setup?
I am experiencing video freezing and video was not touched? Movie only mode converting DTS MA to AC3

The weird part burned Movie to a dual Layer BD 50GB and no freezing. Burned BD single layer after just converting Audio and have the freezing. That why think it a BDRD issue.

I think what Ch3vr0n means is that if you look carefully on the first post, you not only download BDRB there, but there are also links for Avisynth and the other things you need. You probably just missed them...

Are you sure you're executing the EXE you think you are? It's pretty hard for BD-RB to find the wrong version of itself. You'll need to uninstall AVISYNTH and FFDSHOW first, then then install the versions linked in the first post. Somehow the system isn't seeing the new install.

After I remove the Avisynth 2.6.0.5 and then went back to Avisynth 2.5.8.0 everything straightened out. My original Avisynth 2.5.8.0,must have been corrupted.

We'll there's likely your problem, 2.6.0.5 is not the official recommended version. As such bug reports with unsupported versions are not accepted, to the disc again with the supported versions. If you will have the same problem, then come back.

You are using the standalone INSPECT. Go to the HELP menu in BDRB and use the INSPECT from there.

Hello, i have purchased a BD (gladiator) but it doesnt have my language and i want to replace an external audio track keeping video quality bit to bit, and menu... i could get the BD context to my PC. Can i add a new auido track with this programme while keeping everything intact? what are the settings?

Hello,

since version 0.50.0.2 alternate output doesn't work for me.

Another test with the same source but this time set to AVCHD output (mt2s file). Works OK with skipping scanning.

@jdobbs - looks like the issue is either the Video encode to alternative file formats or in rebuild stage?

1. Set BD-RB to BD-50 output. That will prevent reencoding.
2. Start the job.
3. When the audio/video extraction is complete, stop the job.
4. In the working folder, replace one of the audio streams with the stream you want to use. Note: The type of audio (ac3, dts, etc) must match the original, and the sample rate must be the same.
5. Continue the job. When it rebuilds it will use your audio.

The only catch with that is, if the audio isn't of the exact same frame length as the video, the audio will be or of sync

The way to fix the audio sync if it is the correct length, but has the wrong start time, would be to set the proper audio delay (positive or negative) in tsmuxer. The delay would have to be manually determined.

I've done this before for the movie only mode. Reauthor in tsmuxer with the delay set and then import into BD-RB.

Okay, if I may... I don't want to put words into JD's mouth here, but I THINK that the language difference is what the trouble is maybe.

I'll try to spell out the steps very easily so you can hopefully translate and understand. I DO speak a little Spanish, but not nearly enough for this :) Also, I do not know exactly how to start/stop BDRB properly as JD is saying, so I'm going to give you an alternate suggestion if that is okay. This suggestion will ONLY keep the video track and your Spanish track, but will NOT keep any of the menus or extras.

1. Run BDRB with your movie

2. As SOON as it finishes extracting the A/V tracks and starts rebuilding the structure, STOP BDRB.

3. Go to the WORKFILES folder.

4. In it you will see the video file that ends I think with .264.

5. Open TSMuxer and import that video file.

6. Using TSMuxer import the Spanish audio file that you want.

7. Use TSMuxer then to build a new BDMV (Blu-ray) folder with the video file and the new Spanish file (if you want also to include any of the other languages too, add those audio files)

8. At this point, if you ONLY want the video track and the Spanish and/or other audio tracks and that is all, then you are done and you can burn the resulting BDMV folder to disc if you want.

9. Or, if you want to compress the size from that point, import the newly made BDMV (Blu-ray) folder into BDMV and set it to output whatever size you want.

The only thing is as was said before. IF the audio and video are NOT in sync, then at # 7 above you will manually have to adjust the delay or time difference using TSMuxer BEFORE you input the result into BDRB.

Now, what JD was saying is that IF you can stop BDRB at I guess the right moment (I'm honestly not quite sure how to do that) then he is saying that you CAN simply put the new Spanish audio track right into the WORKFILES folder and I GUESS just somehow have BDRB continue rebuilding it. But, I don't know quite how to do that exactly :cool:

But, using TSMuxer, then at least you can have a chance to check the A/V sync and adjust if first. Also, using TSMuxer, you can use ANY legal audio format file for your Spanish track instead of HAVING to match the one that is already in BDRB (I think...)

I HOPE that helps somehow...
