Hi!i can only see desktop and a folder namesSilly/Obvious question, perhaps but, is one of the "desktop items" labelled "My Computer" or similar?

Sorry, what do you mean by "associated AVS file (in the working directory)"? What is that? Look at the name of the M2TS where the encode failed. It's a 5 digit number like "00017" or "00001". In the working directory there will be a file called (for example) "VID_00017.AVS" that matches the digits.
Right click on that file and select "Open With..." -- then choose "Media Player Classic" (if you have it installed on your computer) or "Windows Media Player".
If an error occurs as it tries to play the file, it will be displayed in the resulting window. The reason you do this is because pretty much the same playback sequence occurs when the file is frame-served (via DirectShow) to X264 for encoding.

Hi all, been using bd rebuilder for some time now.. really cool stuff!
Only thing is, I am trying to get the most of a bdr disc filled with movie, so I have been experimenting a bit with the custom target size, but this still seems to be off most of the time. For instance, I have configured it on 24500 megabytes now, but the first disc gives me 19,5 gb output and the second one comes close to 21,5 gb.. I have tried a disc with the default 23500 and that gave me a 24 gb output disc structure.
btw, tried this on the last couple of version, the last one being the 2904 version..
Is there any way to get this more accurate, or is this still a work in progress?
Thanks jdobbs for a great program with great support!:thanks:

why BD Rebuilder always undersize the final output, for about 2 gig?
I've done monster Inc EUR, The International and Watchmen, and the final size was always 21.3gb instead of 23,45 gb :(

Good thing is, you always getting the same output size, you could give a custom size of 24,5gb a try for instance.. for some reason my output never seems to be the same, depending on the movie I use for input..

Jdobbs: in order to get same as source framerate for 23.976 you need AssumeFPS(24000,1001) in avs. For 29.97 the avisynth needs AssumeFPS(30000,1001). 24, 25, 30 fps aren't affected by the directshowsource bug. x264 --fps has no effect when using avisynth input, its used to set framerate of raw input.
BDSup2Sub is a solution to the resize to 720p crashing tsmuxer issue.

So now I tried The Bourne Supremacy, and first attempt is the default custom image size, and after that I tried the same movie again only now with a custom size of 25,5 Gb, should be too large to burn to disc..
Funny thing is, they only differ about 2 megabytes in size, biggerst one being the default custom image size..

@jdobbs:
I had another case where the resizing to 720p did not take effect, although the resizing has been selected.
I reported this in an earlier post and speculated if this might be related to PiP. Did you have a chance to check the code?
jdobbs
19th September 2009, 14:14
I did, and I can't find any way that it could happen. Are you positive it just wasn't a mistake in the settings?
There is a possibility of it occurring if there is secondary video and the video was out of order in the CLPI file, but I've never seen that except possibly in a privately authored source (e.g. TSMUXER). Can you give me an example source?

Yes, positive - as much as I can.....
Here the log which confirms the setting:

- SHUTDOWN at completion enabled
I did however neither find a resize command in temp.avs nor in the vid_xxxx.avs

I did however neither find a resize command in temp.avs nor in the vid_xxxx.avs I've put code in to swap positions if the secondary video is listed before the primary in the CLPI. I have CHANGELING (but interestingly haven't watched it yet) -- I'm going to check it out and see if this is the case in that disc.
[Edit] Nope. I just checked out CHANGELING (Region A) and the video is in the correct order. I'll run a movie-only encode with resizing one and see what I get.

c.f. this original post (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1325812#post1325812)
I don't think that wouldn't have anything to do with BD-RB -- it may be a result of the codec (most likely) or possibly X264..
you were right
the problem was neither bd-rb nor x264 BUT the fact that i had (for testing pruposes in video playback a while ago) set ffdshow's config to SHARPEN (using asharpen)
this setting caused the white pixels at the top and bottom
the strange thing and one reason i did not realize this phenomenon before is the fact that those white pixel only occured rather "randomly" - some conversion showed them, others did NOT
i have attached two screenshots: one WITH asharpen, the second w/out

I just noticed that I have 2 entries for resize in the config file, namely:

RESIZE_1080=1
Could one of these be a leftover from an earlier version?

I had no trouble with a movie only and full backup of this Region A version of this disc.
You did not report what OS you are using.
Since tsMuxeR gets the same error, it is a set-up problem.
Try reinstalling ffdshow, Matroska, avisynth and WMP11.
Set up ffdshow properly, and try again.

RESIZE=0
RESIZE_1080=1
Could one of these be a leftover from an earlier version? Yes. RESIZE doesn't do anything right now.
I tested CHANGELING and had the same result as you. I traced it down and found out what was causing it to not resize. I've fixed it for the next release.
Interestingly, it may also have provided a clue as to why some of the UNIVERSAL titles are having audio issues on Sony players (BD-5/9 only) when there is PiP... I'm researching it.

This is a good reason to delete the file and start over with a newly created one with BD-RB. Clean/fresh start after testing features can avoid this. :)

I don't see how this would be installation issue, I've been using the BD rebuilder for a long time and I just finish backup race to witch mountain, Indiana jone 4, and Disney Earth with no problem.
Anyone else having this problem with wolverine?
OS is Vista.

Really! Well, I ripped it twice and both time it comes up with the same error. (the error only happen in BD rebuilder, the acutal
ripping part work fine with Anydvd HD). I am at lost here.
BTW, what does the error mean?

Hi!
What version of "AnyDVDHD" did you use?
I ask because according to postings at the SlySoft forum, a proper rip requires the use of v.6.5.8.1 beta...

Hi,
yes, it actually did convert the DTS track to AC3 and also tried to mux the resultant .ac3 file into the final result. You can see this by looking at the time schedule - it took 12mins to convert the audio and it is trying to add in:
A_AC3, "E:\OUTPUT\WORKFILES\AUD_00052_4354.AC3", lang=deu
This is not what I expected. I wanted to have the original DTS track.
I did manage to manually mux the files (using the DTS track), but I would still like to know, why the script initiated mux failed.

I have one more question:
would it be possible to add a selection dialog to select the playlist to be used?
In the case of Australia I found that there are three different playlists, which differ in the text language used in the prolog and the text before the credits. It would be nice if I could at least edit the generated playlist.
Or - is there a way to edit the generated commands list in BD Rebulder and then start the process?

Hhmmm... I had a similar problem last night with POTC3 (Region B, movie only, 2 audiotracks). It "failed to REBUILD", I don't have the log file anymore, sorry. HDD space was ok, latest BDR version.
Even more strangely there was the "--avchd" option present in the final muxing meta file. But I did NOT chose "stricter AVCHD compliance" in the settings (I doublechecked)! The correct parameter for TSMuxer should have been "--blu-ray" then, right? :confused:
I suspect that the intermediate MKV format was the reason for the error because BDR couldn't find some file (I think it was a MKV file). I think I'm going to disable the intermediate MKV format from now on using the MKV_INTERMEDIATE=0 ini-setting.
My question: Is it absolutely safe to disable BDR's MKV function for all movies from now on? I just do movie-only encodes. Or do I limit myself somehow if I turn it off?

Have tried several times to re-encode Independence Day (Region A) "movie only" with no luck.

@jdobbs
Ok.. 4 people (including myself) with rebuild problems. It seems that there may be some sort of rebuild bug in the latest BDR versions.
Also, I still end up with 4 AC3 tracks in the workfolder when I only choose 2 AC3 tracks (eng/ger) and also choose *not* to reencode AC3 files.
Here are the filenames/sizes:
00001.track_4353.ac3 808.811.520 <- the original ones I guess
00001.track_4358.ac3 808.811.520 <- the original ones I guess
AUD_00001_4353.AC3 808.814.080 <- new ones created by BDR
AUD_00001_4358.AC3 808.814.080 <- new ones created by BDR
AUD_00001_4353.AVS:
#Created by BD Rebuilder - v0.29.04 (beta)
LoadPlugin("D:\BD Rebuilder\tools\nicaudio.dll")
audio=NicAC3Source("00001.track_4353.ac3").Amplify(1.2)
audio = (AudioChannels(audio) > 6) ? GetChannel(audio,1,2,3,4,5,6) : audio
audio
AUD_00001_4358.AVS:
#Created by BD Rebuilder - v0.29.04 (beta)
LoadPlugin("D:\BD Rebuilder\tools\nicaudio.dll")
audio=NicAC3Source("00001.track_4358.ac3").Amplify(1.2)
audio = (AudioChannels(audio) > 6) ? GetChannel(audio,1,2,3,4,5,6) : audio
audio
My settings:
[Options]
RESIZE=0
MODE=1
TARGET_SIZE=23450
AUDIO_TO_KEEP=
SUBS_TO_KEEP=
COLOR_BOOST=0
RESIZE_1080=0
DTS_REENCODE=1
AC3_REENCODE=0
AC3_640=1
KEEP_HD_AUDIO=0
AVCHD=0
REMOVE_WORKFILES=0
AUDIO_TRACK_LIMIT=0
SUBTITLE_TRACK_LIMIT=0
CUSTOM_TARGET_SIZE=8300
I thought with those settings the original AC3 streams are left untouched... (?)
Why is BD Rebuilder writing/reencoding those tracks again? What happens there and does it affect the sound quality? Can it be turned off maybe with some ini-setting?
Thanks for any help.

i just ran the simpsons movie (aus region B version) through bd rebuilder asking for a bd25 size. however the size i got was 12gb. i then looked at the original source and unlike other bluray movies ive seen where the main movie is one large files say 30gb in size with the simpsons movie the main movie is split like a dvd into multiple smaller files
4 files actually first one being 1.6gb
second 2gb
third 9.5gb
fourth 9.2gb
would thei be making a problem for bd rebuilder?
im going to try it again and post the log file is it happens again.

No the splitting of the files won't affect the sizing
With this disc being clean animation it compresses very well meaning it does not require a high bitrate.

uh fair enough. id still like it to sit round the 25gb mark regardless since there is the room on the disc and since they used more than that space for the original. although i guess i am removing a few audio tracks so maybe the original VIDEO was small.
cheers again.

jdobbs, if you set qpmin=0, you'll get rid of undersizing forever ;)

Would this resulting file, though maybe larger in size, have any better quality characteristics?
Or, perhaps maybe satisfy those whom believe the quality is higher if the file size is larger. :p

"--avchd" is used for all movie-only encodes. Strict compliance removes certain directories. If you want it to use "--blu-ray" add "FORCE_BLURAY=1" to your INI file. Warning: The blu-ray format will NOT work on some standalone players.
The MKV_INTERMEDIATE=0 really shouldn't make any difference -- but it has been reported to work better with certain systems.

But it would at least stop most of the continual "I want to fill up my disc" reports and make people feel good, so I think I'll add it. I still might get some undersizing, though, when people attempt to make BD-25 discs out of short sources and you hit the BD bitrate limit.

I never get over how you could take a 3 hour plus movie at 30 gig and compress it down to 7.75 gig and not see a loss in quality. I kept trying to take Watchmen and split it into 2 pieces and then run BD_RBLDR on each 1:33 piece but It still looked the same either way. Finally I got it, size doesn't matter any more with x264.
