I've been getting a lot of these lately, not just with this movie but it already happened with Couples Retreat, Red Cliff, etc. Seems to be the same error where if fails to re-encode extras, trailers or menu items. I've gotten passed this problem by replacing those files with clips from other movies so it's definitely an issue with certain files that BR doesn't like. Vid_141 happens to be the same clip that failed in Couples Retreat, its a black screen 5 second video that says "Universal Studios, all rights reserved" at the bottom. I wonder if just deleting those will cause a problem with "Full Back-up" Is there a way to blank it instead?
PS. When I right-click Vid_141 and select "Preview this Item" I get an error that says: "Resize: Source image too small for this resize method (Q:\MPC_View.AVS, Line 3)". I wonder if that has anything to do with the re-encoding problem, Vid_151 re-encoded fine and I was able to preview it... hmm.

Any1 have success with (My Best Friend's Girl) title02 101 min. version
UPC Code: 031398104216
No problem with Clown_BD(movie-only) note: produced french AC3 track size is (472 833 ko) (& by BD Rebuilder = 472 870 ko)
No problem with DVDFab(movie-only) but stay a multi-m2ts
Same problem with AVCHDCoder(movie-only) out of sync
Same problem with MakeMKV(movie-only) out of sync
prob. #1 less than 20GB & BD rebuilder re-encode anyway !!! "not keeping video"
prob. #2 audio on french track out of sync late in the movie !!!
(just for testing audio prob.)
When i try to demux this title with tsmuxer i get error's message style (AC3 stream (track 2): overlapped frame detected at position 00:00:22,047. Remove frame.) & many other place "if may help"
update: tested demux ac3 5.1 french with eac3to used by Clown_BD & overwrite ac3 file in working dir of BD Rebuilder before remux & all is ok (SYNC perfectly).
I joint txmuxer log & eac3to log
In tsmuxer log we can see (REMOVE FRAME) may be this is the answer ?
BTW BD Rebuilder finish process normally with v3304 v3305
v3309 & inspect is OK too
all my setup is OK after duplicate 73 BD,s with no prob.
any idea ?
THANKS jdobbs for your excellent pmg.

JohnnyB.Good, I've never had a problems with BDRebuilder yet except for out of sync audio on deleted scenes from the air I breathe. I did couples retreat full backup to BD25 without any problems and I always watch my backup (I have an oppo BDP-83) before I delete it off the computer to make sure that it's ok since this is beta software. I've done ~50 full backups and have yet to have a problem. The only time that I have a problem is from a bad rip. I just did Daybreakers and couldn't wait to watch it. Well 3 mins into the movie I get a lot of static and breakups in the audio and then the audio goes waaayyy out of sync. I played back my rip and it did the same thing. I had a bad rip and have to do the process all over again. I'm a little mad because it took 13 hours to encode plus I wasted a disc but it wasn't BDRebuilders fault.
Long story short, you have a bad rip!
What I don't get is that I've never had a bad rip from a DVD?!?!? Then again I use an old Plextor PX-716sa for my dvd rips and burns so that might have something to do with it.

Sorry but
Ripped 4 time
2 w DVDFab & 2 w AnyDVD
& the result is the same.
note: The copy made with DVDFab & Clown_BD work very well.

Then the only thing that I can say is that may you have a bad disc. I recently had a very bad problem with Big Trouble In little China. It took me 3 discs before I got one that worked. All I'm saying is that I backed up couples retreats without any problem. That was a few BDRebuilder versions ago as well.
So far I've only had two problems with discs. Big Trouble In Little China and Daybreakers.

Jdobbs, I have an error detecting request.
I just fully backed up Daybreakers (took me 13 hours) without any problems but there was indeed a problem. Daybreakers didn't rip correctly onto my hard drive and has several problems. I'm messing around with clown_BD which found the problems right away during demuxing. Could you incorporate some sort of error detection that would prompt the user that it found an error and ask if you would like to continue? I think adding something like that in the setup to enable/disable it would be ideal for people that would like to use it for a reference. To me there's nothing worse than wasting all the encoding time and the blank discs to then sit down to watch the movie and find out that there's an error in the ripping and that you have to do it all over again. If we could find out that there's a problem from the start it would save us a lot of time and money.
Here's my clown_BD log as a reference.
Sorry I didn't know how to properly insert the log file like everyone else.

@Elvis Gratton,
If you want me to try and help you -- it would be more helpful if you didn't post logs that are unrelated to BD-RB, as they really don't give me the information I need. EAC3TO isn't even involved in a BD-RB encode. How about posting the BD-RB log and INF instead? It also doesn't help to say other programs work either (like Clown BD or MakeMKV)... they are completely unrelated and don't do anything even remotely similar to BD-RB.
The "source image too small" means that BD-RB is being fed garbage -- and that's why it is failing. My guess would be (without any info to help me) that you might have a "Codec Pack" or some other package that is attempting to decode instead of FFDSHOW -- and it isn't doing a very good job.

To me there's nothing worse than wasting all the encoding time and the blank discs to then sit down to watch the movie and find out that there's an error in the ripping and that you have to do it all over again. If we could find out that there's a problem from the start it would save us a lot of time and money.. YOU are using the program at your own discretion. YOU have chosen to be a beta tester. YOU read the first post of this thread -- including this:IF BD-RB DOESN'T WORK FOR YOU. JUST REPORT IT AS A BUG. Please leave out the "I wasted 16 hours of my time" commentary. If you don't know the risk of testing a beta you shouldn't be downloading this software.
Please refrain from these kinds of comments.

@Elvis Gratton
That one is a multi-part encode. Since the sections are extracted one-at-a-time there is lots of chance for missing the chance to "extract" rather than encode. Also, they would have to all be small enough to fit (you can't just encode one section, or the quality would not be consistent).
I'll look at it and see if I can come up with a better way to project size on muli-part sources.
As for the sync problem -- I think that was probably fixed with v0.33.09. It turns out that using the internal FFMS in X264 for frame-serving on multi-part sources wasn't as great an idea as I originally thought -- but encoding from the demuxed source rather than the original M2TS seems to have fixed it.

Did an alternate output run last night with 03307, not knowing there was a new version out. Source was a playlist of a 90-minute documentary, encoded with MPEG-2 and it has a resolution of 720x480@29.97fps. Inspect reports OK for everything. I had ticked "Resize 1080p to 720p enabled", but "Convert SD to HD (720p)" was not enabled.
Two things went wrong:
1) 720x480 got upconverted to 1280x720, even though "Convert SD to HD (720p)" was disabled.
2) The resulting .mkv looks... odd. Here's a screencap from MPC-HC: http://yfrog.com/1gsnap194640j
As you can see, there's a wide green bar at the top of the image and colour (look at the faces and hands) is misplaced.
update: Image looks fine in VLC, but not in Windows Media Player. I suspect this has something to do with FFDShow.
update: It was caused by DXVA. Once I disabled DXVA support in FFDShow, the image cleared right up. D'oh.
Odd how an episode of a TV show I viewed earlier today on MPC-HC looked fine with DXVA enabled. Hmmh.

I've done hundreds and hundreds of encodes of 720x480 sources and never, never, not even once did it accidentally convert to 720p. In fact -- I can't even imagine how it could be possible. I gotta' believe you had it checked, but didn't know you did at the time you encoded. But I'll take a look. Maybe the 1080p->720p confused it somehow.
After posting the message, I've done several conversions from the same disc (Saving Private Ryan disc 2) with v0.33.09, and they've all come out as 720p even though the source is 720x480. I'm sure I don't have the "Convert SD to HD" option enabled, but I do have the "1080p to 720p" ticked.
Now that I think of it, uou mentioned "the MKV" -- are you doing an "ALTERNATE Output" movie conversion? If so, it would have been helpful to mention it -- and the checkboxes would have no impact at all, your output will be the size you selected in the ALTERATE output list.
I did mention it, right in the first sentence, "Did an alternate output run last night with 03307". :)
Yeah, I did notice that there were only two MKV output options, 1080p and 720p, but I sorta kinda thought it would use original resolution if that was lower than 720p and the "Convert SD to HD" was not enabled. Felt logical, you know? :)

Felt logical, you know? :) Nope. It resizes to the size you select. So it's doing what it is supposed to do.
The flags in the SETUP dialog would contradict the purpose of the ALTERNATE output... for example, if I paid attention to the resizing instructions I could end up eith iPod output that wouldn't play on an iPod.

Okay-dokey! It's back to MeGUI and RipBot for 480p extras... unfortunately. Would've been so much easier with BD-RB :)

is this happening only to me? or is ps3 no longer supported in bd-rebuilder?

FYI: v0.33.09 not resolve out of sync prob. in this particular case.
After doing some other test ie: edit MUX_MOVIEONLY.meta file
to replace tsmuxer_track.ac3 with eac3to_track.ac3 & set the custom size to 40GB to eliminate reencode & speedup, + remux (audio sync was perfect).
jdobbs
Can you tel me, in this expression: AC3 stream (track 1): overlapped frame detected at position 00:00:22,047. Remove frame. what wants to say: (Remove frame) it is an information or an action ?
maybe these cause of my troubles if audio frame are missing !
i'm not an expert of tsmuxer ...
Again, sorry for my bad English.
thank you for answering

is this happening only to me? or is ps3 no longer supported in bd-rebuilder? It's not BD Rebuilder. It's the newer firmware updates of the PS3. Sony screwed the pooch with that release. I'm not sure about "invalid disc", though, as I thought the issue resulted in the PS3 seeing it as a data disc. I don't own a PS3, so I can't confirm it.
I'd be happy to make any changes necessary to support it -- but since I have no idea why it stopped working, someone would have to tell me how.

thank you for answeringThat's no big deal. When you have a multipart stream with connection_condition=5, it is normal that there may be duplicate audio frames (at the end of one stream and the beginning of the next). When you use TSMUXER with the MPLS as a guide, it is adjusted correctly.
I'll relook at the code and make sure something hasn't changed.

Movie only backups seem to be working fine at least in my PS3, but full movie backups what i have tested recently dont have worked.
Same with PS3 firmware v3.17 and now with newest v3.30.

If you know how, trying running TSMUXER by hand in a DOS window and "MUX_00002.meta". The command line should be something like this:
d:\bd_rebuilder\tools\tsmuxer.exe "mux_00002.meta" "d:\whatever\output\folder"
Of course the paths would depend on your setup.
Then, at least, you should be able to see what error it is getting. Normally it would be displayed on the line that is blank in your log. Did you get any error messages at the time it failed?

I have the latest firmware update in my ps3 and it plays my blu-ray back ups perfectly....must be something else going on.

JDobbs, wanted to give you more input on this. I have latest update on PS3. Most of my movies are DVD9, movie-only backup. All of them play fine on PS3, they come up AVCHD and play movie with no problem. A few movie also I have on BD25, full movie backup. Again, these play fine and are recognized as blu-ray disc. In fact, just got done backing up Avatar, no problem. I also checked older discs and as yet have had no problem.
The only issue I have had, and I don't think it is PS3, is when I try to make DVD9 full backup. I used BDRB to make full backup, 2 passes, default quality, and make iso with Imgburn. The iso plays fine on pc with Power DVD 10. When I burn with Imgburn, the disc won't play on pc and shows up as data disc in PS3. I CAN go into the BDMV files and play the movie from there, I am assuming this will be fine unless there are multiple m2ts files. Does this help at all?

EDIT
If a use ffdshow H.264/AVC codec disable the first mt2s work on and muxing ok (the second not work)
the 2 m2ts are 480i and some audio ac3 2 channel.
If a use ffdshow H.264/AVC codec libavcodec or other the first mt2s not work and muxing freeze (the second not start)
why tsmuxer freeze?

cause i just did wall street .. and it works fine in my ps3 It's probably because one of the discs used JAVA for menus and the other did not.

I have a quick question, why would a mpeg4 AVC 1080i movie take twice as long to encode with BD_Rebuilder as a 1080p? I thought that because it shares half of each frames information with the next frame, it seems to me like it should take half as long as a 1080p reencode. The couple of 1080i movies I have done so far resulted in less than smooth motion playback. Does BD_Rebuilder work for progressive only or if I encode it at 720p will it look better and also take less time?

I have a quick question, why would a mpeg4 AVC 1080i movie take twice as long to encode with BD_Rebuilder as a 1080p? I thought that because it shares half of each frames information with the next frame, it seems to me like it should take half as long as a 1080p reencode. The couple of 1080i movies I have done so far resulted in less than smooth motion playback. Does BD_Rebuilder work for progressive only or if I encode it at 720p will it look better and also take less time? Yes, BD Rebuilder works with 1080i. It takes longer because X264 is not as fast with interlaced encoding.
A single interlaced frame includes two fields making up the even and odd lines the total 1080. Each field represents a different moment in time -- so it has to be encoded separately. That means there are twice as many pictures to be encoded. I wouldn't expect it to take twice as long (since each picture is smaller), but it should very definitely take longer.

I'd be happy to make any changes necessary to support it -- but since I have no idea why it stopped working, someone would have to tell me how.
is this for BD5/BD9? b/ci I do BD25 backups all the time and my PS3 plays them just fine.

is this for BD5/BD9? b/ci I do BD25 backups all the time and my PS3 plays them just fine. It appears it would only apply to BD-5/9 -- and then only on full backups. It also appears that some full backups work on BD-5/9... which would make you think it is JAVA (which is supported in blu-ray, but not AVCHD).

Thanks jdobbs. I've never ever been able to get full backup BD-5/9 on PS3 but Movie only AVCHD's from BD-RB worked great....

Just tested 0.33.09 hoping the audio sync was fixed for the secondary video and it still is out of sync. I guess the sync issue was for another part of the BD disc?!
Just thought I would let you know.

@jdobbs I found a small bug (or not?) with BD-Rebuilder, recent versions of x264 create streams not compatible with PS3 (after TsMuxer) if the output container is MKV instead of RAW format:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=154469
Since the BD-R uses MKV as container for the secondary video stream the PS3 cannot play it (PowerDVD/TMT don't have this problem).
Can you add a hidden option to use RAW output instead of MKV for secundary tracks ?
Thanks :helpful:.

The final mux should be/ is .264 file. Only the working demuxed/reencoded file is .mkv, but after rebuild it is converted to .264.
You can check the files with BDInfo to confirm, as it will tell you what the final output is.
Also, check the HIDDENOPTS text file in the zip package of BD-RB, and you can change the intermediate files type.
(MKV_INTERMEDIATE=n, n = 0/1 - 0=OFF (default) - if set to "1", .MKV files are used instead of .264)

Thanks :helpful:. That should be easy enough, but it worries me. I remember setting it to MKV for a reason -- and now I can't recall what that reason was.

(MKV_INTERMEDIATE=n, n = 0/1 - 0=OFF (default) - if set to "1", .MKV files are used instead of .264) MKV_INTERMEDIATE=n only applies to primary tracks. Secondary files are always encoded to MKV. The problem is that I can't remember why... I know the original reason for MKVs was because of problems with the Panasonic players (surprise, surprise ).
MKV is a container, so there is always a raw file inside it. But, if memory serves me, there are issues with NAL-HRD retention when writing to an MKV during encode.
I think I'll just start making the secondary follow the MKV_INTERMEDIATE setting (like the primary) and see what happens in testing.

Oops, sorry to provide the wrong info.:o I have not done but a few backups with secondary video, and I never remember checking to see what the final mux container was, so I should have checked before posting. :(

Hi you have an idea for this problem? :(

I think the latest FW with Java support was 2.50.
Anyway, there is no way that you can have BD5/BD9 Full backup working in PS3. BD25/BD50 work in all cases (with/without Java, with AVCHD or real Blu-ray format).
When inserting DVD disc in the PS3 it requires AVCHD format for index.bdmv. Either your working 'full backups' have this file changed/patched or you did full-backup of 'movie-only' original. :)

@lastangel
If you know how, trying running TSMUXER by hand in a DOS window and "MUX_00172.meta". The command line should be something like this:
d:\bd_rebuilder\tools\tsmuxer.exe "mux_00172.meta" "d:\whatever\output\folder"
The paths would depend on your setup.
Then, at least, you should be able to see what error it is getting. Normally it would be displayed on the line that is blank in your log. Did you get any error messages at the time it failed?
I have a feeling you may have a system instability...
also -- please re-read the first post of this thread:If you decide to download and test -- please post any errors you find in this thread. Don't push bug resolution or keep asking for a fix. I will get to the reported bugs, but only when I can find the time.

I was wondering if anyone else has been successful with Sin City D1, I have tried both of the two playlists for Movie only and the audio is correct but on some parts you get the correct video and on others you get video and the 'Cine-Explore' PIP stuff. I can't seem to get the right combination of the .m2ts files with either playlist. Did anyone else figure this out?

Hello , I want to say thanks to all the Doom9 staff for this magnificent tool BD rebuilder
Thanks jdobbs keep the good work.
A quick question, Is there any way to edit the BD structure so the latest movies can run in my PS3?, I also have a a Sony BD player and nothing. Old movies before Avatar worked great but since then, they get this error message or wont start. Some friends told me that its the latest update but I havent updated my Sony BD player so I think is in the movie itself (just guessing)
Thanks in advance

Thanks in advanceWhat model Sony player do you have? I have the S301 and S360 and they play both movie-only and full backups in BD-5, BD-9, and BD-25 formats.
For PS3 you are pretty much stuck with movie-only encodes only for now. The latest firmware updates (post 2.50 from what I've been told) limit you to BD-25 full backups and movie-only on BD-5/9.
